Organza Indécence

One caveat before the rhapsody: this is a discontinued cult scent now, not a shop-shelf buy. Finding a bottle is half the romance and most of the frustration, so read the rave with that in mind. Vanilla has spent two decades being the note everyone apologises for. The default setting. The thing you smell on a teenager who raided the Body Shop, the flavour of every three-for-two supermarket candle. Perfume snobs (and I've been one, on my worst days) file it under beige, inoffensive, faintly embarrassing. Organza Indécence is the argument against all of that, and it wins. This one is for people who actually love vanilla and have stopped pretending otherwise. It wants nothing to do with exoticism or spice-rack theatrics, no clever clash of scent and colour to certify your good taste. What you get is vanilla, raw and unhurried, on a cream base that borders on the obscene. On my skin, it reads as milk and vanilla over a dry, resinous wood, the same austere dryness I get from Wenge DK. What more do you actually want from a bottle? There's an honesty here that most gourmands never risk. The syrupy, cakey ones smell juvenile next to it. Indécence is warm and carnal and slightly rude, which is presumably how it earned the name. The quick card: Longevity: a few hours, and it belongs to the evening. Bottle: tacky, and still better than anything Mugler has ever put out. Low bar, cleared with room to spare. On skin that normally devours perfume: high and immediate. It simply refuses to leave. Price: shameless, and now that it's discontinued, shameless with a collector's markup. Person it conjures: Dita Von Teese. Song it conjures: "Closer", Nine Inch Nails. Make of that what you will. Tempo: more tango than waltz. Wearing it since 1999. Bottle: 100 ml. The Dita and "Closer" pairing does real work, so I'll own it: this is a fragrance about controlled filth. The burlesque version of desire, rather than the messy one, sensuality performed with immaculate posture. Which is exactly why the tacky bottle is forgivable. The juice has better manners than its packaging.

Please bring this back. It is the most gorgeous fragrance ever created. The new formulations don’t come near the intense beauty of the original. It was my signature from the second it was released to its demise. I finally ran out and I need it. I’m serious.

It is so good it hurts. Givenchy should bring back the entire Organza line - Organza Indecence, Organza and Organza First Light. They dress you in divine scent for entire year. This is a cinnamon dream but so much more with the suble rosewood, hint of patchouli and plum. It is a dream for autumn and winter but it is fit for entire year, especially in the evenings but today in the springy, sunny 14°C I am wearing it for a day and I am delighted. Now the Givenchy shelves at Sephora should host the Organzas, Ange Ou Demons, Very Irresistibles, Irresistibles and L'Interdis plus Amariges - including Amarige Mariage and Extravagance. One can hope. It lasts all day with elegant, private sillage. A delight. And it is not heavy but nicely substantial. A gem

Organza Indécence was my signature scent in 2008. I loved it and felt like goddess whenever I wore it. It’s seductive and gourmand and I felt delicious whenever I wore it. In 2024, I missed it so much I sought out a vintage bottle and a backup to make sure I always had this scent near. Sadly, my husband doesn’t enjoy this scent and I’ve abandoned wearing it. I will forever be sad about this but occasionally I smell the bottle just to take me back to a time when scents were bold and vibrant and walked into the room with you like a force field of seduction. I finally got my hands on this and I must say, this is such a beautiful composition of cinnamon and vanilla. It smells like a warm cinnamon cake with powdered vanilla sugar. It’s now my signature scent. The closest fragrance I suggest that you could buy but might be tricky to find would be Queen of Hearts by Queen Latifah. Although the cinnamon is more prominent in QOF, I add some vanilla bean oil from Kuumba Made (Amazon) and I smell exactly like it. I wear that combination mostly because I don’t want to use up my original bottle of Indecencé.

I got an og formulation dabber bottle set from one of my friends which included both Organza scents and three other Givenchy classics which I am sooo excited to test out- this was the one that seemed most up my alley after testing on strips, and after a full wear test I was right! Gorgeous woody cinnamon-patchouli, with a slightly sweet edge. Smells like a vintage wooden desk with a steaming vanilla rooibos tea sitting on top. There is a faint hint of rose to me, but overall I primarily get cinnamon, nutmeg and a lot of warm woods. Very sexy and great for layering- I paired it with Maison Margiela Afternoon Delight to amp up the sweetness and vanilla notes.

I liked this one when it first came out and then when I ran out of it I repurchased it and it wasn’t the same, looks like they cheaped out on it and I still have the second bottle. I don’t know why perfume houses do that. Oh by the way I think the closest thing to this one is Billie Ellish the gold bottle one.

I love love love OI, I was working at a Perfumania when it first came out and people would come in asking for it. We didn't carry it, and I bought several bottles of it from the department stores, I still have a couple but I use it very sparingly, on special occasions or when I have a closing or need to feel really confident. I have tried to order some from some of the dupe companies, but they just don't hit the mark. I have tried mixing oils to replicate, but again with mixed success.Its been said over and over what a shame about it being discontinued, I just want to find the same scent, don't care how its packaged, I have enough empty ones to fill a large box.

THE best scent I own. I wish givenchy would re-release this, it honestly shaped my taste in fragrances a lot. love love love. you smell the warm spicy notes, gives the vibe that you ARE that girl.

ok so this was a recent amazing thrift find. i love organza and have been very curious to try this. it opens gorgeously with cinnamon and plum. then the amber and vanilla come through and it becomes a little bit sweeter and a little less spicier. there is a hint of the rosewood too. this is warm, spicy, cozy and perfect for fall/winter.

Wearing it today. Spicy amber, while plum and vanilla are giving it sweetness. It's not my kind of fragrance, but they are just the notes that cling on to my skin. It's deep, high quality and warm, a perfect winter gourmand/oriental, depending on what works on your skin. Niché quality, perfectly modern, strong and long lasting, it shouldn't be discontinued and should be left in the original bottle.

Organza Indecence was my fragrance unicorn for a very long time: a discontinued fragrance I read so much about, and wanted to find. I almost got a 50 ml bottle on an auction site. But the price went too far and I let it go. Then recently I got a mini bottle for a more acceptable price. And now I'm glad I didn't spend more. Organza Indecence is wonderful. Woody, citrussy vanilla amber with lots of cinnamon, which makes it perfect for winter holidays. It's decadent and sweet like a vanilla cake topped with orange peel. Yet it has a classic quality to it and it's not a simple gourmand. It's my kind of perfume. Cozy and comforting. Wearable all the time. So why don't I want that 50 ml bottle now? Because I already own another fragrance that it resembles so much, and which I actually prefer: Meharees by L'erbolario. They share that decadent vanilla amber with cinnamon, citrussy notes and woods. I find Meharees a bit more complex actually, and more potent. For anyone looking for this unicorn but can't find it anywhere, I recommend getting a bottle of Meharees.

What a great shame that it was discontinued. It is an extremely warm, intoxicating, sensual fragrance, an amber with a note of cinnamon and a really delicious syrupy plum. At the beginning of its development, the vanilla is quite prominent as well, without turning the perfume into something really sweet. In its drydown, it is the amber that takes more and more prominence. I would say, like other reviewers, that I have never smelled a perfume with a better cinnamon note. It has a moderate sillage and on my skin it lasts more than 12 hours. It is a shame that it is a perfume that has disappeared, if it were not, I would definitely get a bottle for night occasions in cold seasons. Agree with @kookaburra1000: the first thing I thought when I smelled the EDP of this--left behind by my grandmother, long gone and beloved--was that that this smells like a dead ringer for the gorgeous, cozy but somehow sultry, woody Shisiedo Feminite Du Bois.

For my very first review, I figured I'd start with my favorite perfume of all time; Organza Indécence. First, there is no connection at all with Organza ; I always wondered why Givenchy didn't simply name it Indécence. Then, this is not a fragrance for shy people ; here, we are not dealing with a sweet or flowery perfume as we can smell most of the time but with a very spicy, surprising perfume, with exceptional staying power and sillage. If you wear it, there's a good chance people will turn around and ask you what your perfume is. For me, it was always in the good sense of the word ; people loved the smell and were pleasantly surprised to discover it. Regarding the notes, first I smell cinnamon, powerful and enveloping at the same time, then come the powdery side and vanilla, all enhanced by plum and amber. What I particularly like in this perfume is that cinnamon, here, does not smell as in a cake, that there is no note of incense (which I don't particularly like in spicy orientals) and that it is resolutely feminine (often difficult to find a spicy perfume which is not unisex or which does not lean towards the masculine). It was extremely sensual (in fact, many men approached me thanks to - or because of ! - this perfume) and I felt incredibly good when I wore it, sexy and confident. It was my signature, my smell, like a second skin. The fact that it was relatively unknown to the general public means that I have never come across a single other person wearing it, a truly delightful feeling. Sadly discontinued, then re-released a second time (slightly different but just as daring) and discontinued again today:'(. Since then, I have always been looking for the perfume that will replace it... without ever finding it.

Competition for Lutens Rousse? I dared to hope for it - but nah. A perfectly pleasant, too-femme, soft yielding cinnamon bun smothered in apricot jam on a slightly soapy plate. Appealing and friendly, with generous, expansive, big-hug sillage at first, but let down by weak longevity (on me) and its slightly generic 'sweet nice things' undercarriage which just sort of smells like too many other mainstream things to take the theme to true daring, never mind to indecent territories of spicy adventure. If you really want to burn with cinnamon passion then Carner Megalium will do it harder, or Rousse more classily. Not to be snotty about it but Organza Indecence will just make you smell like that kind church lady down the street who bakes a lot (of cake and danishes). That ain't a bad thing! But my tastes are more adventurous.

I am honestly baffled by the extremely good reviews. to me this is cinnamon juice. yes well blended with hints of vanilla but nevertheless cinnamon. terrifyingly intence at first much more discrete after a few minutes but then again just cinnamon. what baffles me is how everyone seems to adore it. do you guys like smelling like cinnamon so much? old lady vibes also...

She is that 1999 girl. But she is grown and don't play no games. She's not one for conversation but will get you talking. Only comes out at night in her element. A Scorpio woman full of inside knowledge about life and death. A femme fatale, a mystic and mind-reader all in one. A lure, a phantom, a cougar, a spy. Who is she? Can you have her? Hell no. But she has you, before you even made the connection. Sorry, she's busy taking numbers she'll hand to someone else. She knows your entire life story but would never tell you hers. You wake up one day, in 2027, and still smell the erotic sizzling vapor from your dream. That was unusual. But it was the most significant moment in your life because it was yours, but she wasn't.

Very nice vanilla and cinnamon, and the rosewood (which I usually don’t like) is subtle but keeps it from becoming too foody. I would have thought there was a touch of gardenia and/or tuberose in this too. I don’t notice plum. I’m surprised no one has suggested CK Obsession in the “reminds me of” section, given that they’re both very cinnamon-oriented with amber and vanilla. This doesn’t have incense but I definitely find it more similar to Obsession than to Queen of Hearts for example. Maybe my skin chemistry’s playing jokes on me again. Anyway, I like this and I’m always happy to find perfumes that can make me enjoy a note that I typically avoid.

Ceylon Cinnamon with Vanilla & Brazilian Rosewood... This is a longtime love for me. Opens with Brazilian Rosewood supported by multi-faceted patchouli, and already you can feel the vanilla swelling through. This deepens into the heart, picking up Ceylon Cinnamon and faint plum tones, resting on a musky vanilla-amber base. Ceylon Cinnamon is really the star of the show here, with the other notes recognizable, but serving to support and enhance different facets of the Ceylon Cinnamon. including woody, warm, creamy, spicy & vanillic. It picks up so much vanilla as it dries down, that it almost becomes a Madagascar Vanilla scent - almost. Keeping this from becoming a cinnamon-bun scent is the Brazilian Rosewood which lends a rich, woody facet - sooooo good! Performance is well above average for year round wear, but the warmth in the profile make this most appropriate for cooler weater. The best memories I have from wearing this are around the holidays. Contrast to Suki Essence Weil: These are different, but there are striking similarities with cinnamon & vanilla. Suki Essence is slightly more amber forward and has a faint oud note, but requires dark storage after first sprays to develop performance. Organza Indecence outperforms. Overall: gorgeous Ceylon Cinnamon & Vanilla scent with excellent performance. I've loved this scent since it was released, and I'm treasuring the last 1/4 of my vintage bottle. 10/10. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite perfumes of all time. My grandma gave me this and I’m so happy i was able to get a full bottle of this after it got discontinued. It smells expensive, sophisticated, and vintage. It’s so warm and complex of a scent. At first spray, you get a spicy and fruity smell, but the dry down is incredibly sweet and warm. Not to mention, you only need one at most 2 sprays, and it will seriously last all day and more. I’ve been told you can smell it as soon as i entered the room, and even if i wash the clothes I’ve worn it in and can still smell it! Needless to say, if you can get your hands on a bottle, I highly recommend this perfume.

This is just the most gorgeous perfume. I wish the didn’t discontinue it. I haven’t found a perfume since that comes close - the warmth and dry down was just beautiful. I’m wearing angel’s share at the moment to try and remember this delicious scent, but it doesn’t come close.

@dendry you are one lucky girl!! lol! this one is as valuable as gold right now..oh how I kick myself to remember this was on the shelves over 20 years ago and I did not give it a try!!! I did purchase it at a crazy price a few years back but omg..I truly regret not realizing what a gem this is long time ago. Givenchy never disappoints..but this one is heaven. @Givenchy Please do not give us the reformulation..We want the original juice!!!

It is so upsetting that full bottles of this are priced. $350 to $500 on eBay- absolute ridiculousness! If anyone has a bottle or a travel size for a reasonable price- not a rent payment. Message me. :)

Walk into tiny pharmacy in back street of country town to have my fifth covid vaccination. While I am waiting I discover, on a shelf of scented candles and mugs with pictures of kittens, two 100ml bottles of the original Indecence - the black and turquoise box, the robe bottle! The only two perfume bottles in the shop. Did they find them at the back of cupboard? They must be around 20 years old, since Givenchy ceased production of this version in 2004. Anyway at $50 each who was going to hesitate - I bought them both! I remember smelling this perfume when it first came out and being a bit overawed by the dry woody spiciness. But it's heaven in a bottle. A man could wear this with confidence - not a flower note in sight. And honestly, the bottle is just the most over the top decadent baroque gorgeous thing imaginable.
