This one is just ok to me. I absolutely love pink pepper when it is done well. However, there are hundreds of perfumes that contain pink pepper, and this one is middle of the road to me. I have maybe four other perfumes that are in similar scent territory that I would reach for first. I like the shaved pencil note. I do appreciate the fact that Glossier perfumes are more affordably priced compared to other perfume houses. Also, this one would be appropriate to wear in an office or school setting and would likely not offend anyone or give them a headache.

Smells like the inside of a brandy melville. It’s nice and better than a lot of retail or department store fragrances in my opinion. Leans too feminine for me typically though, which is to be expected, so I mainly just spray it on my depop shipments lol

Анонім

I spray it and it’s gone. Literally. No longevity whatsoever on my skin or to my nose.

Like hopping on a huge pile of fresh laundry of white fabrics .. just so addictive and true "clean girl aesthetic" icon !

Beautiful and sophisticated for everyday wear, but only stays on my skin for about 2 hours :(

Анонім

pencil shavings… but you’ve slipped into a dream.

The perfume that made me fall in love with perfumes! I love how this smells on my skin and it seems to last a long time.

My daily perfume since it released. The best perfume created on earth perhaps. Really sucks they reformulated but my friend wore it in the pool the other day and all I could smell was that, so I do believe the staying power is still there, you just easily get used to the scent and it really does blend in. Really one of the only perfumes I get compliments on besides my other daily wearer, Burberry her. I love this because its toned down but comforting its perfect for everyday wear and I'm so glad they made the bigger size. The price cant be beat either. I think I'll go to the grave wearing this scent. And thats exactly what this scent is its YOU!! It has pepper corn and before this one was released my daily was the original Miu Miu, which also had notes of peppercorn but I actually got so many people saying I smell like straight up pepper when I wear that one. So this def is a much more toned down peppercorn scent. The musk, the clean smell. Its kinda like how it smells before it starts to rain. I have it on my nightstand and the bottle is 2 sprays away from being empty. my beloved youuuuu

The scent that got me into perfume. I do get a slight whiff of pencil shavings when I first spray it, but I actually really enjoy that part. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but the earthy woodiness of the opening feels comforting and familiar. Once it settles, the iris starts to bloom and the ambroxan becomes much more noticeable. Judging by how often people describe You as smelling like almost nothing, I seem to be one of the lucky few who can still pick up the ambroxan clearly. I thank God for that every day because it’s easily my favorite note. It makes a fragrance feel more intimate and gives it that “your skin but better” quality that I love. I’m also a huge fan of pink pepper, though I find You a little lacking in the peppery punch I get from other fragrances that use it. I really wish that note came through more strongly. Despite that, You has become a staple in my perfume wardrobe. It’s mild-mannered, universally appealing, and easy to reach for when I don’t know what else to wear. It works for almost any occasion and layers beautifully without overpowering whatever I pair it with. My main complaint is the longevity. It sits fairly close to the skin and fades faster than I’d like, especially considering how much I enjoy the drydown. I usually have to reapply it or spray it on my clothes if I want it to last throughout the day.

i do get pencil shavings from the opening but after a little bit the iris came through to make things sweeter and powdery. projection isn’t great and i do think i go noseblind to it pretty quickly so i’d be curious to smell it on someone else. pleasant but most likely not full bottle worthy.

Despite the reformulation, ‘YOU’ is worth the hype. It’s clean, cozy, & gentle…the ideal skin scent. The first spray is sharp, but then, the delicate musk, semisweet iris, & subtle powder set in. The longevity? TERRIBLE. You can stack the balm, the body lotion, & the perfume, but the scent will dissipate within 10 minutes. Until they fix this, my favorite dupe is ‘MOI?’ from Montagne Parfums. It’s pretty dead-on, maybe slightly brighter (a bit more floral?) & longer-lasting. I wouldn’t be crushed if Glossier never got their formula together.

Wow I’ve always wanted to smell like pencil lead and black pepper 😍

Анонім

This does the job but I’m realizing this is not the DNA for me and my chemistry. Maybe for layering, but probably won’t repurchase. I do think that, if you like the clean and powdery thing, you will like this and its intimate projection.

Smells like an old lipstick mixed with pencil shavings and throw an old crayon in there too. That’s it! It smells like an old pencil box that has pencils and crayons in it for years and you’re opening it for the first time again.

this opened my eyes both to the beauty of unisex perfumes and spicy perfumes and now i prefer this genre compared to sweeter perfumes. thank you, You

Still one of my absolute favourites. Nostalgic and familiar yet utterly unplaceable, it reminds me of memory itself. Like a copy of a copy of a memory. Makes me feel clean and new. Makes me think of my first best friend’s mom…maybe? Contradictory yet simple. Love.

I had high hopes for this because of everyone hyping this up. It's pretty horrible on me. It smells like vomit on my skin. It takes me straight back to second or third grade, when a friend of mine puked all over the classroom floor, and it was covered up with synthetic cleaner and "fresh smelling" powder to absorb the moisture from the carpet. I feel sick every time I get a whiff. It's like this sweet peppery smell that is covering something unpleasant. On rare occasion I can just smell the sweet musky pepperiness, but mostly it just smells like covered up sick.

Анонім

I was fooled by the scent of this in the bottle. It’s SO peppery. And not even in a nice pink pepper sort of way. Just pure black pepper that you’d put on a meal. I don't get any other note when initially spraying it on my skin. It dries down really nicely though. Still peppery but complimented by the iris note which works well on my skin. Regardless of the pleasant dry down I would not wear this again

I'm lucky, I guess, because this smells divine on my skin. Almost all musks/ambers smell good on my skin, and I adore them. "You" smells sweet, even after the iris fades. I can smell it for a good while, and I don't care that it's only a skin scent...I use most fragrances just for me anyway. As long as I can smell my wrist and smell that sweetness, I'm good. I don't get the pepper or pencil shavings some people mention, although I can see the pencil shavings if I use my imagination. I too, get anosmic with this if I sniff it too long, so I have to limit my sniffs and the goodness all comes back. In fact, it's more like a cloud than anything, where I can smell the scent better if I don't sniff directly.

Smelling this in 2018 altered my brain chemistry. It’s the scent that made me fall in love with skin scents and I’ve been benchmarking every perfume against it ever since. I picked up a sample at the Glossier pop-up in Copenhagen and ordered a full bottle almost immediately. Years later, it’s still the fragrance I’ve returned to most. It’s clean, slightly peppery, soft, and somehow just makes YOU smell good rather than smelling like perfume.

I really do think we should retire the whole “clean girl” spiel. On my skin, the iris and pink pepper barely make an appearance. I get them for a couple of minutes at best. The rest of the scent’s anemic three-hour performance depends entirely on the gentle hum of synthetic musk. That is about all I can come up with for this perfume and its abysmal performance. Here is what I find irritating: if Glossier had really committed to the it-girl premise, there were two obvious roads. Go sparkly and energetic, with aldehydes up front and a genuine fizz. At least that's more in the "clean girl" lane. Or go the other way entirely and lean into the iris and pepper, make something chalky and spicy, perhaps with a little wood at the base to justify the “chic” angle. Instead, we get the paragon of modern perfumery: barely detectable synthetic musk standing for nothing in particular, which is, coincidentally, an extremely profitable place to stand, given how much money this “nothing” is currently making.

This perfume is the equivalent of Black Honey lipstick in the fragrance world. It complements everyone’s natural scent so beautifully, giving the skin a warm, lived-in, radiant feel. I resisted the hype for quite a while, assuming it was just another basic crowd-pleaser. But after trying it and wearing it for a while, I’m definitely joining the fan club.

Анонім

just smells a little bit clean with pink pepper, was expecting more :/

Анонім

I love this fragrance, but I don't tend to wear it on its own as I find it works best as an enhancer than a standalone. After every shower I put the Glossier You body lotion on first and then spray the You perfume on top, and then layer on top of that whatever perfume it is I want to wear. It doesn't go with 100% of all fragrances but it's definitely versatile and gives an edge to whatever other fragrance I'm wearing. It's just become my base, essentially.

Анонім

I absolutely adore this fragrance, it’s an easy go-to. I wear it alone, I layer it. It’s always a smash on me. It’s very comforting

Анонім

Despite the fact that what little I can smell I don’t like, it tickles my nose when I sniff it like I’m inhaling literal peppercorn dust. It’s dusty spice with a strange sharpness- if this is what “I” smell like, then there’s a reason I reach for real perfume!

I can't believe no one has suggested how similar this it to White Nirvana by E&J! Beautiful fragrance.

This is just as beautiful as I've heard. Absolutely gorgeous and will definitely turn heads.

Finally got to try this after months of searching. I got Sonic Flower instead hoping they would be identical. This is definitely girlier and fresher than Sonic Flower. I didn't like SF very much because it smells like straight up pencil shavings to me, but You, although I get the pencil shavings smell upon initial spray, dries down to a much more feminine, floral musk. I think this is as feminine as skin scents can get. I do not understand why this was SO hyped though. Maybe this was one of the pioneers for skin scents so it opened up a new door of fragrances? I will keep using my tester spray but I see the potential of it growing on me. The same happened with Not a Perfume; it felt too masculine at first but now I can't stop smelling it. I'm honestly just relieved I managed to find this. It felt so unreachable for so long.

Анонім

Idk if i'm missing something, but I can barely smell this. It's a little peppery when you first spray it, but dries down to a musky floral that I can't smell unless it's right up against my nose. I have the travel size, and the sprayer on it is really wet and heavy. Even with that amount of product spraying out, it's barely there. I get that it's supposed to be a skin scent, but... I can't even tell that i'm wearing anything when I have it on. It's hard to enjoy or form a strong opinion on something that's barely there.
