La Petite Robe Noire

I absolutely love this! The cherry, rose and licorice combo has my name all over it. But I can also understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I find it so sweet and sexy, with the perfect amount of darkness. Very similar to Mancera Cherry Cherry, though this is more velvety and feminine.

I bought this to try in the hopes that it was as close to Donna Karan’s Liquid Cashmere Black as everyone was saying. This is my experience and comparison. The first spray is a little bit medicinal, the cherry is not as prominent as it is for LCB, but the cherry almond smell is there. This - for me - smells more like a cherry Bakewell than Dr Pepper. As it settles down it’s incredibly similar to LCB but not enough to make me love it. For me the cherry smell sticks around for a while with LCB but for this one it loses that note and but does keep the almond smell. It’s very close but I am very biased to LCB. Overall I do like it, it is a lovely cherry almond smell. For me it takes a while to settle into something that’s pleasant (will likely be my skin chemistry). I’ve only worn it once so far, maybe she needs a bit of time to macerate I will see. She has potential for sure and she’s a lovely smell for anyone who loves that cherry-almond, Dr Pepper cherry smell. I would give 8/10 for now and add to my comment when I’ve worn her again in the autumn time.

I’m absolutely in love with this perfume. I don’t know why people are hating on it! It’s so feminine and fresh, almost like the yellow Johnson’s Baby Shampoo with a hint of cherry. The sillage and longevity are amazing. I could still smell it the next day, and it hadn’t faded at all. I honestly didn’t expect that. The first day I wore it, I got two compliments. I’m so happy! 💕💕

It’s a duty free perfume counter headache opening and then straight up Ribena jam dry down. So nauseating!!! Theirs is no almond cherry tonka bean goodness :(.

As a comment below says, it does smell a bit like Dr Pepper or a cherry coca cola. But with more depth. It is very sweet and very long lasting. I don't think this is anywhere close to Lolita Lempicka. Completely different. I couldn't even say that there is 1% likeness. Lempicka for me is a "purple" scent. Earthy dark violets with balanced sweetness. THIS perfume is a "red" scent. Very sweet and soda-like. But. It might be different on different skin.

It smells a bit like Dr Pepper. It’s a fragrance aimed at young people. I like the fact that it doesn’t have a floral scent. My favourite designers are Black Opium and Burberry Goddess. 9/10

Cherry and almond are liquor notes to me, so I keep missing the alcohol facet a little. Not joking entirely, either. This is not really up my alley, although if you want a cherry fragrance experience, it is a good choice. Definitely far better than Tom Ford or Trésor. It is sweet and fruity, but less obnoxious than many cheaper fragrances with this profile. I also think the iris is too much here. It makes the composition feel narrower somehow, more boxed in. Some people call it uplifting; I do not see that at all. And despite the “Noire” name, it is not especially dark either. It sits in the middle. I also would not describe it as spicy or aromatic. To me, it smells like a refined fruity cosmetic product. I love Guerlain, but this one is not for me. Get it if you are a sweet cherry fan.

Late to the party but this Little Black Dress deserves a higher rating. In spring time it's so juicy and addictive. Can you imagine I craved this scent when I wasn't wearing it? It's smooth and fruity but in a dark way. I kept smelling myself. Longevity is great. There's depth in it. Yes, I smell the licorice note and it reminds me of LL, but I like this one better. It's fresh yet complexe and dark and sultry. Imagine walking through a forest seeing and smelling wafts of big, juicy and dark cherries hanging on trees while you feel the air on your skin.. at night! I'm in love.

A sister to Lolita Lempicka. I like it but it never fully convinced me. Not easy to describe but cherry is the dominant note in the opening together with licorice, anise, tonka beans, rose, iris, tea. I marked it as winter night only but it is just as good on a spring evening. The recent Intense version I consider the best But I dont know all its versions. Just the intense has all the notes well represented and here they are a blur. Easy to wear and indeed perfect for black clothes. Especially black leather jacket with black jeans or dress. If you like Lolita Lempicka you will like LPRN too. It is as if its grown up version but fits a teenager too. Especially a moody one. The problem I have with it today - I dont really feel it on myself. I know it must be there but I only feel faintly black tea with licorice. It is stylish but the performance does not please me. Perfect for moody teenagers and females in their 20ties.

Its cute and uplifting. Its a not a wow I love it scent for me....but I tend towards patchouli and leather obsessions so it's a experimental experience. Reassuring....easy to smell. I think if some one around me was wearing it id like it. Probably won't reach for it very often but its well made. Guerlain always seems to start their scents out pretty light, airey and citrus. Curious if they make "dirtier" or muster smells as the house seems to like sparkingly fizzy juice but nothing darker so far. Looks like their "Black Perfecto" which boasts the same notes as this but with patchouli and leather maybe more my taste, need to sample that one.

the black cherry note is extremely prominent and it is exactly the scent of a ripe, juicy, and sweet black cherry. The dry down still remains strong with the cherry note, but it reveals itself to be more complex with licorice, tonka bean and the slight citrus. just a delicious scent overall, reminds me of just a very black cherry jam.

Girly sweet fruity with nuts.

I know Guerlain makes beautiful luxury fragrances, and I really appreciate the brand overall. I recently ordered The Perfumer’s Collection Set from their website, and it’s absolutely beautiful—I’m very pleased with it. However, La Petite Robe Noire is a big no for me. I just cannot stand this fragrance. I see that cherry is one of the listed notes, but to me it smells just like cough syrup. It’s not pleasant in my opinion. That said, I do like the bottle design—it’s very chic and modern. It just goes to show that packaging can be stunning even when the scent itself doesn’t work. Maybe it smells good on other people, but for me it’s a hard pass.

people saying this smells dated or like women's shaving cream?? It's nothing like that at all, it's sweet, sophisticated and high end smelling, smells niche, very chic and young but not childish

I go back and forth on whether I like this or not. When first applied, it is so strong I can't determine which scent note is blasting my nose the way Violet usually does. I think maybe it's the licorice & anise. It comes off as sharp and old lady like at first (maybe I over sprayed?). Then around the 20 min mark, it mellows a bit and becomes this "elegant" scent. My favorite part is the dry down when smells a little more earthy. LPN EDP is mixed so beautifully, all the notes seem to meld nicely & smells balanced to my nose. It lasts forever on me & any fabric it touches as I kept getting soft whiffs of it on my furry comforter a WEEK after I used it! The bottle is gorgeous and I love how the sprayer works, but idk if it fits my personality. Regardless, its a beautiful perfume and I'm glad I purchased it. On another note, I was so confused trying to find the perfume I bought here on Fragantica bc the dress on the bottle l purchased look like the ones pictured for the Absolue, Intense, EDT and other flankers. On the box of my purchase it says "Eau De Parfum" but here, the dress shows the original 2012 bottle. I checked the batch code for my perfume and the year produced was 2023. I just find their marketing very confusing lol. Also...when I smelled this at the store, it was SO light I don't think the sales lady could smell it on my wrist bc she looked at me like I was crazy when I declared, "I think I actully like this! It could be my everyday perfume." To be fair, I had the faintest traces of my morning fragrance still on my wrist when this was sprayed on my wrist and maybe it had a canceling out effect, idk.

Burst of fizzy cherry coke on the opening, with a slightly medicinal edge. Yes, she smells like Lola, but they are not dupes in any way. LPRN is much more straightforward and lacking in whimsy, which isn’t a bad thing — it’s just not the same. It’s pretty for what it is, a licorice, cherry fruitchouli type of fragrance. Lasting power is decent as is projection. She’s a like, but not a love. I was suckered in by the smaller heart bottle of the le flacon coeur version 😂 good for a night out, as the name suggests. I don’t recommend blind buying unless you know for a fact you like this particular profile, licorice can be polarizing for some and it’s very prominent here.

super sweet, girly cherry shampoo-like smell to me, im surprised people describe it as dark and alluring a few mentioned it reminds them of shaving cream which i also get! a very slight screechy aroma reminiscent of that can be smelled sometimes, which isnt a bad thing there - i find it very fitting due to the shampoo vibes i get

Darkness, mystery, Paris, love — these are the words I would use to describe La Petite Robe Noire. The composition, initially light and more girlish than womanly, gradually becomes increasingly sensual and seductive. From the very beginning, red fruits play a central role, setting the direction Thierry Wasser chose for his creation. In this fragrance, I sense a kind of narrative about becoming a woman — one who, in the final phase, is ready to slip into the titular little black dress and place the world at her feet. I am genuinely impressed. Despite its sensual nature, La Petite Robe Noire strikes me as a surprisingly spacious scent. Rather than confining, it offers a sense of freedom. It seems to whisper softly to the perfumed woman that no man will be able to resist her captivating charm. At the same time, it feels like a nighttime walk through Paris, illuminated by millions of lights — a walk I could happily take every evening. My rating: Highly recommended! (7/7)

First impression: vintage 2009 Modele 1 LPRN in the Gold Guerlain box. I cannot understand how people are saying this smells medicinal or like cough syrup. I’ve smelled synthetic cherry, and there isn’t any of that in here. LPRN begins with a vivid, bright tart sour cherry. Bergamot clearly accentuates the sour notes of the cherry. I don't detect anise at this point. I can sense the rose and licorice are on the verge of becoming dominant. I’m quite surprised this was so panned. This seems a head of its time for 2009 and avant guarde for Guerlain. The darker smokier elements of the tea, Tonka and patchouli are coming though. If Lolita Lempicka is the ethereal, elven/faerie scent. 2009 LPRN is the sorceress. The darker, mystical earth warrior.

Love the sour cherry here with the berries, but the noticeable licorice and sweetness ( from the vanilla or the rose) ruin this fragrance for me... Gave my bottle to my mom. On her, I don't get any of the notes and sweetness that bother me, it is verry elegant and beautiful on her: mainly cherry and red berries with almond and rose, and maybe a hint of tea note. Someone recommend I try the flankers since some of them don't have those notes I can't stand.

The best way I can describe how it smells on me is like a women’s shaving cream. After a little while a little spicy musk comes in but overall it still smells primarily like shaving cream on me. It doesn’t smell BAD, but I don’t particularly want to smell like shaving cream. When I purchased this sample I thought I was getting the original 2008 version because I didn’t realize there were multiple versions. I’m still hoping to try the original version if I can find it.

Blind purchase. It's ok. I was mislead to believe it was a Lolita Lempicka dupe. It is not. is it terrible? No. is it way to perfumy for me- yes. Headache inducing.

I bought this as a blind buy and am so in love with it so far! I genuinely have no idea what people mean when they comment on a 'cherry cough syrup' scent, as on my skin at least it primarily smells of rose and bergamot with a hint of a cherry that doesn't feel close to overbearing or synthetic. The vanilla and patchouli bottom notes in this are gorgeous, and I get a good 9 hours on my skin before it becomes undetectable. If you're a fan of beautiful, feminine yet powerful fragrances then I'd absolutely recommend this. I can't wait to try the Intense version, and hopefully get my hands on a bottle of Black Perfecto!

Such a lovely little fragrance - that's my general impression of this. Elegant yet fruity. Fans of Lolita Lempicka might like this, although I prefer Lolita. On paper this smells fantastic to me - cherries and a dry down of interplay between rose an patchouli, with whiffs of black tea here and there. Playful but elegant. Unfortunately my skin does not agree with this - all I get is cherry which is soon replaced by red berries, which I really don't like. The dry down on me is plain boring - a warm, musky, fruity mush, forgettable. Such a shame this does not work for me.

Oh I wanted to love this so badly. The opening is medicinal cherry-like. The dry down is much better, almost pleasant. It reminds me of cherry cola but that hint of medicinal never totally fades. Maybe it's because of the patchouli? Not sure.

Absolutely stunning cold scent, I love cold scents. A really good cherry and tea scent. The cold air allows the fragrance to wafts brilliantly. It has a really unique , unusual smell, quite moody but not so much. Makes you want to go for walks and be reflective. I wonder if anyone on here has the same experience or wears it differently. It is a chic scent.

I have to admit, while the scent itself is lovely, the softness of it just kills the performance overall. The scents mesh together well and create a pleasant aroma, but it is so soft and thin that it just becomes disappointing. Not to mention, it wears off rather quickly compared to its contemporaries.

Strawberry tart laquered in cherry cough medicine. The way a glittering set piece from the Nutcracker ballet might smell. Girly and tart but with a medicinal edge that reminds me of the old cartoon shorthand for general illness- a handkerchief around the jaw, redness around the cheeks, a glossy thermometer lollipop. And powdery cheap Valentine's day candies that go fizzy in your mouth. My girlhood fixation on softer, sweeter, simpler fragrances makes me appreciate the "reference" here, whether or not it is really there, one of those perfumes that feel like something new formed out of classic references.
