It's a good vanilla, but there are many other vanilla perfumes just as good with a much lower price. So what does SDV offer as a plus? The privilege for us to pay for marketing and name? Kinda not working anymore. These things stay on shelves in stores a lot lately.

It’s summer, however I wear this all year long. Love the silage and longevity!! A very indulgent vanilla that is not sweet. It’s sophisticated and classic.

The opening has no right being this pretty. The incense here is a lot stronger than expected but still a cold balsamic wash, and when paired with the airy vanilla the result is divine - or rather, what blasphemy might smell like. So sultry. As it transitions to warmth however, I begin to lose interest. It’s still beautifully blended but the amber-vanilla drydown no longer feels like anything special: you have to like a dominant vanilla to enjoy this. Such a let down when the first hour on my skin is so tempting and addictive. And for its price, I hoped that it would last longer than three hours.

A very clean, fresh, airy vanilla scent that kind of smells like an old granny in the most comforting way. If I had to have one scent for life it would probably be this. I'd prefer it stronger but if you spray it on your clothes you can still smell it days later when you go to do laundry so it does last.

Love this! Particularly in the winter as its so warm and cosy, but sophisticated.

genuinely the best scent (esp. vanilla) on paper i have ever smelt, sadly not AS good on my skin but still in my top 2 atleast , i had to instantly get a 200ml bottle and i will surely get a refill once its empty. leans feminine but i couldnt care less lowkey

Анонім★★★★★

To me the initial spray is very intense and spicy and I get a granny perfume vibe. But once the top notes go away and the perfume settles, it's actually quite pleasant, sweet but not too sweet, has depth but I still think it's way overpriced and too old for my age. I prefer the Vanilla Planifolia Extract 21 to this one

Got a bottle, it’s beautiful. However slightly annoyed at how similar it is to Shalimar L’essence. It’s the same vanilla. However you could argue the Shalimar flanker is better because it has the Shalimar dna in there.

Анонім★★★★★

Ok, I finally tried this super hyped perfume. I am kinda convinced that this is a case of the high price tag influencing perception. It's nice, elegant, and smooth, but I can also find several vanillas that scratch this itch and have better performance.

Tobacco Vanille???? Get your nose checked

Анонім★★★★★

Very weak double for Tobacco Vanille. In other words, it smells like overpriced cigars accidentally dropped in the bag of a gourmand-obsessed stripper who drowns everything she owns in BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar.

Анонім★★★★★

This is such a sweet perfume, but honestly it sometimes gives me a headache because the note is too sweet. Maybe do a skin test before buying it because it sooo pricey

Анонім★★★★★

For the price, it lasts about 30 minutes until it’s gone. Not worth it.

Анонім★★★★★

Disappointed with this one, its barely detectable. Dunno if it’s my nose, skin chemistry or both but projection is non existent. I could live with that if i could actually smell it, the intimate sillage just never finds its way to my nose. It does smell incredible when my nose is right up against my skin then its gone completely after an hour or so. It acts more like a nice scented lotion than a perfume. Definitely not worth the price point.

Wtf is the reviewer below me on??

Guerlain’s attempt to seduce with an eloquent evocation of ancient vanilla rites, noble materials, and art history ultimately falls flat. The word “double” had me expecting a real triumph of vanilla, maybe something darker, denser, more worked on by time. This is not a vulgar or badly made fragrance, which would perhaps make it more interesting, but it leans too heavily on a safe custard profile to feel truly inventive in a genre this exhausted. Excuse me for sounding like a woke academic, but I cannot ignore the irony of a house invoking vanilla’s colonial romance only to produce a version so softened and palatable it seems calibrated for rich white ladies. The marketing is far too extravagant for the liquid in question. Had Guerlain presented this as a smooth, creamy, unassuming vanilla, I would not be digging into it like this. But Gauguin’s Tahitian work (which the house cites as inspiration on its website!) is saturated like a fever dream. Spiritueuse Double Vanille, by contrast, is a very well-bred surrender to that fantasy. For all the mythology, the perfume itself has very little appetite. I would go so far as to say that this may be the olfactory equivalent of the modern luxury tourist: polished, polite, expensively transported, and deeply committed to never getting down and dirty. This is what the unremarkable well-off ladies in "The White Lotus" would wear.

Анонім★★★★★

Very disappointed with the performance. Nice enough, but nothing special to my nose. Each to their own.

Анонім★★★★★

The expensive “wife” of grand soir. That’s what this is.

Анонім★★★★★

This might be a good choice for anyone looking for a fragrance reminiscent of incense. It’s well-balanced and seems likely to appeal to a wide audience, but I found that a bit of a shame—I thought it would be a more daring fragrance. 8/10

Анонім★★★★★

Ok so SDV is a boozy fragrance. Big time. I think the rum note may be the strongest, followed by the dense amber. For a split second in the opening, I get grand soir vibes. But then the middle opens up a dry vanilla. Not powdery but not gourmand either. And a touch of florals. Rose slightly. There is definitely an incense note that carries through the entire fragrance. Not overwhelming, you detect it if you search. Performance was just ok. Nice longevity on skin but kind of soft projection. If you want a complex frag where Vanilla is a team player, this is your go to. But if you are buying this for the sole purpose of it being a vanilla bomb, you’ll have to go in a different direction.

This is the fragrance that smells exactly like a giant jar of raw vanilla bean paste (in a good way). It's not too sweet and doesn't turn sour at all. The initial spray is a bit strong and harsh, but then the drydown is more gentle. The drydown after 1 hour, like most Guerlain fragrances, are absolutely exquisite and sensual. It turned slightly sweet on my skin (like almost all fragrances do). It has such incredible depth but at the same time is very simple and not complicated. This vanilla is perfectly executed in a way that is hyper realistic. I wore it indoors only after a shower, and it stayed on my skin the next day. If you spray on your clothes, it stays on there for 3-4 days (but you can only smell it if your nose is 1-4 inches away from clothes). The way certain Guerlain fragrances project are very interesting. It's not the same as a regular "designer" brand. Rather, Guerlain fragrances kind of "melt" into the environment and the room in such a natural way, you almost don't even notice it. For this reason, I occasionally become slightly anosmic to Guerlain after 2 hours. So I can't tell if I am just anosmic to Guerlain after a while, or if it has weak projection after 2 hours. Even then, my husband smelt it on me the next day, he was extremely impressed with it and said I "smell like a vanilla bean". I think it is his favorite fragrance (on me) so far and I received a lot of interesting attention from him when I wore it for the first time. Jokes on him though, I only have a decant. A larger bottle would run $450-$650. Is this worth $450-$650 though? I told my husband he can buy the larger bottle once a year if he wants me to wear it regularly.

Probably the quintessential fermented boozy vanilla. Like all we good women, I was just in the kitchen, trying to avoid Australia’s colosseum fight to the death, State of Origin, whereby jaw dropping hunky young men, athletes, no padding or helmets, chase and throw an elongated ball around, pounding the crap out of each other, for a couple of hours. Because I’m a country lass, I barrack for Queensland, as I find them more rural than those thugs from Sydney. This puts me at odds, because I live in New South Wales. It’s fun, because going to some venue watching , there’s only ever one other Queenslander in the NSW crowd and we acknowledge each other. So I go out to my rough old kitchen where I have the usual ingress of Winter mice. I’ve set my Swiss mouse trap (have we heard the jokes about the Swiss and their mouse traps?). (This Swiss mouse trap is a veritable Rolls Royce). Anyway, there’s a terrible snap of one second, right in the trap. Swiss mouse trap, yairs, it’s a thing. I’m traumatised and have to move into the new part of the house and spray something to take my mind off the horror. I go to my Guerlain trove, and think, give the boogeymen vanilla perfection. The rum in it smells like Bundaberg Black, no longer produced since some megacorp bought them out. There have been many try to expand on this beautiful trope, but SDV is perfection. There is some leather but it’s not too masculine, but it’s not exactly feminine either. So utterly beautiful…sweet but not cakey, rich through the ages of vanilla, the beating heart of tropical rum, vanilla pods stewing and fermenting, the cane mills and molasses, a masterpiece

Анонім★★★★★

idk how but i get a cardboard smell for first few moments, but then it goes away and the final drydown is amazing. Also, this is a great base layer for Tony Iommi MS.

All I smell are swisher sweet cigars. Not nice to my nose. Wish it was

Анонім★★★★★

This is vanilla at its most elegant. Rich, smooth, and nicely blended. Smoky incense and soft woods around an incredibly natural vanilla accord. Luxurious without feeling overly sweet. Lasts all day on my skin and clothes, intimate but not really a skin scent. Expensive, so try before you buy 👍👍👍👍

This one was an immediate "wow" for me. The vanilla is beautiful—rich, warm, natural, and realistic. It doesn't smell like frosting, cupcakes, or other sugary dessert scents. To me, it smells like opening a fresh bottle of vanilla extract. As it develops, the fragrance reminds me of spilling that vanilla extract inside a dark wooden cabinet. At first it's fresh and recognizable, but as it dries down it begins to soak into the wood, becoming deeper, warmer, and more complex. By the end, it smells like that vanilla has been sitting there for months, absorbed into the wood and transformed into something richer and more interesting. The vanilla stays front and center, but there is enough depth underneath it to keep it from feeling simple or overly sweet. I don't think this fragrance is as complex or as interesting as Angélique Noire. Angélique Noire takes you on more of a journey and has more contrast and movement. However, Spiritueuse Double Vanille doesn't need to be as complex to be beautiful. It does one thing exceptionally well and feels incredibly polished. What surprised me most is that while Angélique Noire is still my favorite in terms of complexity and artistry, it isn't necessarily an everyday scent for me. Spiritueuse Double Vanille is much easier to reach for. It's warm, elegant, comforting, and effortlessly wearable. This is the kind of fragrance that makes me want to keep smelling my wrist. It's truly beautiful and a very serious contender for the title of my favorite fragrance.

I have finally found it. My signature fragrance. I came into this fragrance with a sample, but immediately I knew it was my signature. I have a hefty collection and no one spoke to me as much as this. The vanilla is smooth, supple, and with finesse. This one is dark but with a very light touch, like the velvet accents of a silk robe. It’s smooth as hell, and whispers “I am a man of secrets. Come and find out.” Perfect for any occasion, and gushes with the secrecy, danger, and professionalism with an edge, of a 00 agent. I don’t even want to write this review, so that I may keep it a secret treasure and a personal statement I must say I disagree with the projection complaints. It took me a while before I realized how powerful this thing actually is. It’s not a case of nose blindness or weak formulation; SDV is so masterfully blended that it has no sharp edges to aggressively grab your attention. It is a latent fragrance—so natural in its environment that your nose accepts it as part of the room rather than a perfume. It requires a mindful presence to notice its ambiance in the background of everyday life . SDV doesn't shout to get noticed; instead it hides in plain sight, becoming the atmosphere rather than influencing it. It is powerful, but it doesn't pierce the air—it envelops the entire landscape so seamlessly that once your nose finally recognizes it you realize how dominant and present is truly has been

So comforting vanilla, very sexy its cozy feels like a warm hug from your loved one. Boozy rum some incense and lot of iconic Guerlain vanilla so classy and charming. This layers so well with Shalimar L’essence both are my fav vanilla Its soft scent profile last decent enough need to overspray Loved it 9.5/10

When I think of vanilla, this scent I consider the note at its purest. Nobody does vanilla like Guerlain, and this is a prime example of that. This stuff is phenomenal. The fragrance was made in 2007!! So ahead of its time. Most vanilla fragrances are gourmand-y, and extremely sweet, this one is not that. This one is balanced to perfection, and should be used as a guide for any new vanilla scent. Spiritueuse double vanille is my second favorite vanilla scent of all time, only behind Vanille planifolia. SDV is a (well obviously) vanilla forward scent, with hints of incense, wood, benzoin and a slight booziness. A great everyday wear in the colder months. Lasts around 6-8 hours, with comforting projection. Overspray all you want, and the scent will never be a headache. In my eyes, this scent is worth all the money and more. 9.1/10
