Clone of Roja Parfums Elysium. For context I also have Fragrance World Imperium as I tend to like these profiles. It opens with with sharp bergamot and grapefruit. As it settles in the hard I get aromatic rosemary taking the profile in a green direction. The base then slips into grassy and somewhat woody vetiver. Solely comparing back of hand tests I think Imperium comes off as smoother, swapping rosemary for juniper. Layering would probably make sense to create a deeper profile. While a little rougher in the transitions, I believe a bit of that may smooth out with ample maturation, but also this lasts closer to 4 hours which is double the flightly Imperium. Where that can only really be used in the gym or as a post shower scent due to the longevity, Reversed is more afternoon refresh capable.
all good intentions but why if there is no real sillage Hugo would be ashamed
Doing a re-review of this one after having owned if for some time, and I must say Reversed is sneaky good. When I first got it, I thought it to be a pleasant enough freshie but the more I wear it, the more I love it. If there were any complaint, it might be that this is a fairly linear fragrance. But I don't tend to mind linearity much when it comes to fresh summertime scents like this one where that lasting fresh clean accord is what I want anyway. This is a really handsome and almost elegant aromatic scent that opens with a grapefruit-centric zest that settles into a clean, crisp uplifting citrusy woody accord. It's not overly sweet but leans more aromatic thanks to the gentle rosemary and ever so slightly earthy vetiver. I'm not saying this smells like Terre d'Hermes (which I also own) or aims to smell like it, but it fits into that general category of scent while having its own unique personality. It's a fantastic warm weather fragrance that serves me well in the hot humid deep US South where I live. The performance is actually pretty darn good for this kind of fresh scent. I have to go a bit heavier on the sprays (say 8-10 instead of my normal 4-6), but if I do I can still smell it 8 hours in. I picked up the 2.5 oz shaker-styled bottle for about $30 and the bang for your buck is excellent. This is one of those that I like better with each wearing and it very much outperforms it's price point.
Very fresh, simple, but beautiful citrus rosemary, with pencil shaving drydown. Safe and inexpensive, solid choice.
If I received a penny for each good-smelling blue fragrance that simply doesn't deliver in terms of longevity, I would already be a millionaire. This fragrance is one more penny into my bank.
Masculine Green Woody Aromatic with a fizzy Citrus opening; Good Vetiver carries an airy Rosemary that doesn't smell herbal, fragrant or like food at all, building a refreshing and uplifting scent. Seven sprays makes it project real good for the first two hours after which it drops to a smaller bubble lasting upwards of six total hours; doesn't last a whole work day, so respray later, as more sprays would make it offensive in a closed space. More suited towards errands and gym. Buffed-guy-with-black-t-shirt-who-keeps-to-himself-while-he-works-out vibes. 30+ years, took a while for me to appreciate it since it reminded me of my hometown's Cattlemen Association's meetings, so a good Cowboy cologne. No compliments, but no need for it if your chest is hairy. Bottle is good, sturdy, but its atomizer doesn't really fit the bottle getting stopped every now and then, a common issue with all of these canteen bottles. No artificial dyes in the juice. 4/5 Edit 1: Does it turn the tiniest bit fecal in the drydown for you too?
#Fragrance Journey 2 This is a surprisingly unique fragrance with a scent profile that really stands on its own. The best way I can describe it is a frozen lemon tree vibe—fresh, crisp, and slightly icy; which I personally find very appealing. It’s one of those scents that’s often overlooked and under appreciated. A lot of people dismiss it as a weak flanker, but once you actually wear it, you realise you’ve stumbled onto a bit of a hidden gem. What makes Reversed special is how well it blends its elements without trying too hard. It’s clean, modern, and extremely mass-appealing. This is a genuine compliment getter and works across all seasons. You can easily wear it for a night out, clubbing, a date, or even in the office, it’s versatile and easy to pull off in almost any setting. Performance-wise, it opens strong and performs well for the first 2–3 hours. After that, it doesn’t completely disappear; instead, it settles into a softer presence. It’s not quite a skin scent, but more of an airy trail, you’ll still catch pleasant whiffs as you move, especially when walking past someone. It’s the kind of scent that can be easy to ignore if you’re nose-blind, but when you notice it on someone else, it smells refined and higher quality than you’d expect. This is a great entry into the Hugo Boss lineup and, once again, very undervalued. I’d even call it a safe blind buy. Considering how affordable it is especially the 125 ml at discounters, reapplying isn’t an issue at all. Ratings: Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10 Projection: 6/10 For the price, you really can’t go wrong. Overall, Hugo Boss Reversed is an underrated, versatile, and solid buy that deserves more attention.
I don't think i've heard anyone make this connectio but this seems like a simpler version of Bleu de Chanel with its citric-grapefruit opening and spicy-woody drydown.
The Reversed is the first Hugo Boss fragrance I’ve bought blindly in a long time. At first spray, it could easily be mistaken for any D&G Light Blue flanker. As it dries down, it starts to remind me more and more of Versace Dylan Blue. The longevity is decent, the scent itself is very pleasant, and for the price, it’s definitely worth it. However, it won’t become a big favorite of mine — I doubt I’ll repurchase it anytime soon.
I love it. I have no experience on Elysium so can not say how close and such, but very nice summer day scent for men. I get tone of citrus and the aromatice qualities.
Why I was sleeping all this time on this one..? Summer in a bottle, smells sooo good, fresh, oceanic, spicy, and have some "coctail" note on my skin also.. 35 euros for 75 ml, banger.. Also longevity is about 7h with moderate projection, my "new" summer gem.. 😁
Pleasant citrus blast for a few minutes, with a linear woody/vetiver & hint of spice dry down.
Not bad for the price. This is pretty close to Bvlgari Le gemme Tygar. I have Rue Broca theorem and it does the scent profile a little better. This is pretty dry Vétiver.
Smells good and fresh, leaves a sticky residue that you can feel pulling your hairs like someone applied school glue to your arm, it goes after a few mins of drying , UPDATE: Applied this again a week or so later and I can’t smell it after like 5 minutes, sprayed it with another EDT fragrance and that’s smelling amazing , but this? Gone
Not a whole load going on here, but it’s a pleasing citrus scent. I mainly use it for the gym (in S E Asia) because the performance isn’t great for me, maybe 2-3 hours at best. Honestly I probably wouldn’t buy a second bottle when it runs out, but I still like it.
This is a totally likeable citrus-centric fresh scent. It's very lively on top thanks to the grapefruit, with just enough sweetness. It settles pretty quickly to a more aromatic scent with a gentle woodsy base. It retains some of that fruity tang for a while, about as long as you can hope with what is almost inevitably a shorter lived note like citrus. The overall longevity is average, but it's hard to complain given the modest price point. If you're looking for a very fresh versatile crowd pleasing kind of scent that you can wear anywhere, you could do a lot worse than this one. As a resident of the US south where summers are very hot, this one will serve me will when in the coming months.
Fell in love with this instantly despite being very different from my usual favorites. It’s sweet and citrusy with a pleasantly light vetiver. I’m surprised by some of the negative reviews, but to each their own and more for me. However, it doesn’t last as long as I’d like, and the juice is kinda sticky. Leaves a weird residue, but not a dealbreaker for me.
Dawg this smells nothing like Roja Elysium
Hugo Reversed 2024 - cocktail shaker bottle Fresh Grapefruit with vetiver, later sweet-spicy-floral undertone. Very synthetic and unisex fragrance. Very, very light. Ideal for every day use, especially in the summer. Similar to Boss Bottled Unlimited. New Edit: Opening is very fresh, juicy Grapefruit. Rating 4/5.
I definitely get the comparison to Sauvage or Dylan Blue. It has a nice citrus and woody aroma. I don't know if I just got a good bottle but it is strong to me. A lot of times I can't smell fragrances on myself but I can smell this even after several hours. For the price I picked it up at Ross on sale for $16.99, you can't do much better than that. I would recommend getting it yourself, and I would buy it again. I've learned not to trust reviews. I don't know how many times I bought a so called dupe and it smelled nothing like they said. I've had expensive fragrances go unnoticed and cheap blind buys women loved. This is one of those safe buys, you can wear anywhere, that won't offend anyone.
The smell was nice, but it was weak.
Wore this to work today. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It doesn't really stand out, it seems like the type of fragrance you wear when you don't really want to wear a fragrance (if that makes sense). The projection is almost non existent, but I was able to catch whiffs all day when moving around. I'm not sure if this leans younger or older, but I think it's pretty masculine. Overall I think it's decent, it might grow on me over time. Or maybe not. Update: Decided to test this again at home. The smell today has definitely improved. All 4 notes seem evenly balanced and work well together. I guess now I'm getting more of what it's supposed to smell like. I'm pretty excited and optimistic. Hoping this will turn out to be a new favorite after all.
Fresh and lemony, though not as fresh as I expected. It has a spicy quality to it, which reminds me of cinnamon, maybe it's the rosemary and vetiver working together in a strange way. So far it's a like, but not a love, maybe I have to wear this more in high heat to open it up. Also, it leaves a sticky residue of my skin, this is the only scent in my collection that acts this way.
Citrus and aromatics love it 4 to 5 hrs longevity Summer and morning scent office freindly Very good
So what clueless influencers are saying this is similar to Roja Elysium? Because there’s no way anyone is making that connection by smelling it on their own.
Hugo Boss has released a limited edition iteration of this fragrance that no one is talking about. Even Fragrantica doesn't have any information on this yet. It has different note breakdown from the original. The Hugo Reversed 2024 is in the cocktail shaker bottle instead of the canteen bottle style. Here's a clip of the Reversed 2024 note breakdown: Hugo Reversed 2024 is a carefully composed fragrance cocktail that takes the wearer on an exciting olfactory journey. Top notes: pink pepper, lemon, quince, pineapple leaves, mint, mandarin, cardamom. Heart notes: nutmeg, jasmine, juniper, freesia, coriander, sage leaf. Base notes: vanilla, leather, teak. These elements create a dynamic and lively introduction, that immediately grabs the attention, giving the perfume depth and longevity.
Got a smalll vial sample. It is light citrus in the opening and dries down to a pleasant herbal peppery smell with a touch of sweetness. Very Versatile. I could se this working for multiple seasons and occasions. The savory pepper herbal smell is unique, and a welcome diversion from a pile of Aventus clones, and mainstream versatile citrus scents. I would wear this to a nice savory meal. I have yet to come across a bad Hugo bottle, and this just supports my trust in this brand.
Love this one. Very citrusy and fresh, slightly sweet too but not at all obnoxious. No, it’s not very complex but smells wonderful for summer and maybe spring. Woodier drydown and transitions into a pretty masculine scent. Performance is weaker than I’d like, but it project decently. My girlfriend bought this one for me and loves it, I think it’s so inoffensive it is a big crowd pleaser and as safe a blind buy as it gets if you need a cool fresh scent. It exceeds being good “for a cheapie.” If you have a warm winter cologne this one is the opposite, very much beach day like. 8.5/10 go buy this.
This smells great, it's simple, clean and bright without being too lemony. Yes it is a very citrus forward fragrance , but it's not sour on the nose or gives the bathroom cleaner sharp lemon scent. As mentioned on here the notes are very true to the fragrance. You get the citrus burst then the herbal mellowing of the rosemary then the vetiver brings it all together in the end. At one point to me it does get a little herbal lemonade thing going on. I like it a lot. It's a simple fragrance that is made with solid ingredients. I don't really find this to be that synthetic. Where this does lack is in the performance department. But with EDT's especially citrus fresh ones with no strong base notes it's just expected. It is strong and bright for about 30 minutes. It is a strong skin scent for another hour. After that it's really close to the skin. You would need to reapply at about the 3 hour mark. Even on clothes it's pretty faint at about 3 hours. Normal wear 5 sprays is ok. 2 or 3 when reapplying. That has been perfect for work. I over sprayed to test it out a few times at home. No matter what after about 45 min to an hour this is just not a room filler. But it sits nice close to the skin. Anyone near you will smell it but more than 3 feet not really, which I really liked. I'm going to have to give this a very solid 7.5/10.
What you see is what you get, notes listed are 100% accurate. This scent profile will remind you as a building block to many familiar fragrances. Citrus burst with green herbal accord drying to dirty earthy woods. Its very simple to the point that it feels incomplete. It also gives me slight hints of mosquito spray, I suspect they use similar ingredient oils to produce it. If herbs (kitchen spice like) or earthy vetiver were any stronger I would hate this, luckily its blended well and light, were you can tolerate it or even enjoy it. Could be a good cheap pick up for those who hate sweeter colognes. This definitely belongs in a bargain bin at a discount store. Dont overpay for this, you will be mad at yourself.
