This fragrance shares DNA with other fragrances which use sweet tobacco like mancera red tobacco, some of Jovoy fragrances. This is a long lasting fragrance.

I tested Side Effect from a decant and, considering its reputation, expected a much richer and more evolving experience. The opening came across as bitter, sharp and somewhat medicinal. Although rum, tobacco, cinnamon and saffron are listed among the notes, they seemed to merge into one dense, warm-spicy accord rather than appearing as distinct layers. The rum did not feel especially smooth or intoxicating to me, while the tobacco and cinnamon contributed to the bitterness. The dry-down became softer and more wearable, with some woody warmth from the sandalwood, but it remained quite linear. I did not experience the complexity, transitions or evolving character I normally seek from an expensive niche fragrance. This assessment is based only on a decant, so I cannot completely rule out a decant or batch issue. Based on this wearing, however, Side Effect was underwhelming and would not motivate me to purchase a full bottle.

A darker, fancier Jazz Club, with dates instead of candied citrus. Sweet and cozy, probably best for fall. The drydown is a waxy vanilla.

I get this stench-like gasoline smell; perhaps it is due to the spices and rum. Also, for some reason, I smell alcoholic rum with cinnamon and spices. Yet it is sharp, linear & quite generic. This fragrance does not have amazing transforming stages. The initial spray produces a strong smell, but it dies down to a skin scent within 30 minutes on me. After 2 hours, there is no projection, and it has softened considerably. For some reason, it reminds me of a mulled wine, sickly spice vibe. It is a very masculine fragrance on me. It does not wow. On my skin, this perfume has poor performance. The fragrance is gone after 3 hours. Also, I get this blackcurrant smell even though it is not in the notes. I cannot smell the sandalwood, just the spices, rum and tobacco. For me, this is an overpriced fragrance. The sillage and projection are poor on my skin. I am not getting quality ingredients. You need to try this perfume before buying it. I will not be buying a full bottle of this perfume anytime soon.

Distinct sour swety BO opening. Drydown is much nicer: cherried dry tobbaco, spices and rum

I don't understand what people hype up Side Effect so much. I honestly don't think it's that special. I really like Initio a lot and I've owned several of their fragrances, but I think this might be one of the most overrated fragrances of all time. It's not a bad fragrance by any means, but it's nowhere near as good as people make it out to be. This has been getting Blonde Amber levels of hype for years and it's not nearly as good.

I think this company has an absolute crack marketing team. Theyre building an empire on a backbone of hedione, iso e super, ambroxan and current trends du jour. And charging you premimum price to do it. I marvel more at that than this entry. Looking past the hype, it delivers a pleasant sillage for others, but for you wearing it...its pretty linear, electric synthetic hum is a bit mall scent. Pearles de Lalique did the heavy fuzzy iso e first. The hedione overdose was done years ago with Steve McQueen and eau Sauvage for dior. Of course we have the monolith ambroxan humming around with cinnamon, vanilla to make it gourmand friendly and the tobacco for a little edge but there are no edges due to the plethora of aromachemicals in this. All of it with no tension reads the equivalent of Millenial grey walls, beige interiors, and the futuristic promise of something that leaves you cold. Im sorry to say ...The Emperor has no clothes. Especially with this price point.

This perfume smells exactly like a trip to the dentist in Eastern Europe in the ’90s. You’re sitting in the chair, greeted by the sharp medicinal smell of gauze and iodine. Then the rough-around-the-edges dentist walks in from his smoke break. As he leans over you, you can tell he had one too many shots the night before and is in need of a shower. He offers you a sweet, fruity numbing gel. You get a whiff of bad open teeth. When it’s all over, you walk past his old leather jacket hanging on a wooden coat rack and realize… it wasn’t actually that bad but you really hope not to be back.

This fragrance is linear and very boozy. It reminds me of an uncle who drank too much at his nephew’s wedding.

Good smell. The notes come together in a sort of boozy black licorice smell that's very pleasant. It is a little mediciney at first.

The projection is noticeably powerful during the first hours, while longevity can easily reach 8–12 hours on skin, sometimes even longer depending on skin chemistry. However, the true strength of Side Effect is not simply its intensity, it creates a noticeable yet elegant scent aura without becoming aggressive. It should be mentioned that Side Effect is somewhat close to the modern niche market’s concept of “safe luxury.” Although the composition is high-quality and impressive, some experienced collectors may argue that it is not completely revolutionary from a conceptual standpoint. In addition, the sweet tobacco-vanilla direction has become increasingly popular in recent years, so those searching for something truly unconventional may not find it as unique as expected

In this I get a sandalwood drenched in rum. My nose might be broken but I don’t get much of the other notes, maybe a hint of saffron.

Jammy & boozy nighttime scent. Somewhat dark/gothic.

Not nice, head ache Parfume. Plastic smell that puts me off. Not for me at all, will never wear this.

I actually get a bright, candied fruit impression from the opening, which really lifts the complicated rum and tobacco character. I also believe this is much more versatile than others seem to think; you just have to manage the number of sprays in hotter environments. This is currently my #1 go-to fragrance for the majority of my needs. Even my friends who don't like fragrances like this!

I love this perfume so much that I hardly use it now, as I fear it would finish soon. And I do not have money to buy another bottle. Tobacco and rum opening can be harsh but once it settles saffron cinnamon and hedione creates a perfect scent bubble which lasts. This is Not at all vibrant aquatic citrusy perfume but deep rich boozy and spicy mix for mature men. It gives you the confidence of a millionaire. This so so deep and pleasant fragrance. It appears to be also carrying Khamrah qawah dna or similar accords. But This is by far the best initios I have used.

I find this similar to issey miyake -noir ambre, a very nice warm fragrance.

Maaaan 8 wanted to love this so hard, but it just is so mid. I found something alot better and way longer lasting ATH Tabac Extréme has the same vibe but wayy better quality. This parfume suffers from neice branding, but new brand owners cutting corners on quality. Not worth the price.

If Lattafa Oud Mood and Asad Bourbon had a baby. I like it. Smells good on me.

Out of the whole line I liked this one the most. It was hit or miss with compliments. Some people said they loved it and some say its just okay. To me the scent can get boring or nauseating. It can smell synthetic after wearing it so much. I ended up buying Pasticcio by sospiro which I felt has more depth than this but with some similarities with the scent.
