I got a 75ml bottle for 20 EUR today. Don’t know how I feel about this perfume, I feel like it’s too powdery an cloying for me. Also, this is just the typical Nivea smell. Maybe it’s nice for layering but on it’s own it is nothing special. It gives ‘clean girl’, but I think I need a bit more. I’m sure my bottle will be decluttered or sold at some point.

This smells so nostalgic and beautifully 80's 90's, in a very, very good way. Not like Giorgio Beverly hills, which i can't seem to wrap my nose around at all. But Sun by Jil Sander fits sweltering hot summer weather and maxi dresses so well. I've had this in my collection for a very long time. But when the bottle was empty i did not repurchase bc i'm trying to minimize my collection a bit. Today my teenage student worker was wearing this and it smelled so fresh, warm and sweet and just very good on her. Proving once again what a timeless, versatile beauty this fragrance is. She left a trail in the whole store and people were constantly asking what that gorgeous perfume was they were picking up.😊💞🌞

"I just made some ********." How cloying do you want your fragrance to be on a scale of yes to yes? Used to be the signature fragrance of someone very close to me and I can still vividly remember the long hot summer car rides spent trying to escape the wave of Sun coming from the front seat. The fog is coming. And the fog arrived, every single time without fail. Once we arrived at our destination the fog induced migraine would not subdue for another 3 hours.

Sun is a strange one for me. I can see its appeal, however (smells like a particular French brand of sunscreen, they say, Amber smth). It’s warm, creamy, balsamic, heavy, persistent. Summer heat, beach vibes. Yes, what distinguishes it from other sunscreen scents is that spermy or vomity funk I cannot put my finger on (storax?) — it gives it a pungent profile which is not to my liking. I daresay it smells like genital secretions, just a little bit. Sexy? Perhaps, but a bit out there… Sun shares its DNA with Jil Sander 4, which also features this vaginal accord. I do not wear Sun often, but it has its charms. Get in a beachy mood: bright sun, white sand, sweaty skin, changing in a bathroom stall, trying to wiggle out of your wet one-piece and not step in a stranger’s urine puddle on the floor, sand everywhere, etc. It’s an experience, this thing.

One can’t describe it better than “Nivea cream”.

Im not sure how i feel about this. It was a blind buy which was my mistake. To me it smells very heavy, sugary and herbal, something between that sweet pink bubble gum and some herbal ointment. After some time it starts smelling a little bit sunscreeny and warm, but overall very odd. I'll give it another chance or ill try layering it, but on its own im not the biggest fan.

Definitely captures that sunny day by the pool feel but ultimately a little too powdery and 80s smelling to me.

oh... I'm a little disappointed, I blind bought this ( my fault ), I wanted to be obsessed with this scent, I imagined something very skin like, it's really not bad, just not what I imagined, it got more of that typical ' old ' sunscreen scent, clean, weird but to me this is what 99% of the Caudalie skincare products smell like, I probably won't wear it outside, more after a shower of for bedtime, it's really cozy, after a few minutes on the skin it's more warm

I’ve had this for a few years in my closet just sitting. I was trying to process the scents at first it was definitely an 80s/90s association. I love a certain smell that’s comforting. Because I was into other scents I couldn’t see the vision of this. Now I can appreciate this scent. It’s so nostalgic and beautiful. It couldn’t associate at first with a sun lotion because my version of suntan was coconut, salt . But there’s different versions of beach, coastal , suntan , pool scents. And I have definitely gotten familiar now with them, yay me lol. This Nivea, sun tan lotion, and natural food essential oils for me all at once. Or in some drugstore with all these scents all eminating at the same time in 80s/90s for me at least. Forever in my rotation I may have to purchase a backup with the gift set.

This smells like summer, sandalwood incense and vintage Nivea sun cream. I think modern sun lotions typically have a fresher scent so I understand why people might not pick up on the sun lotion smell. I think it leans slightly mature-it’s definitely an interesting scent but I wouldn’t personally wear it. I wore it once and I felt like a walking crystal shop.

See to my nose and wallet this is a totally safe blind buy. Summer nights, sex on the beach, carnations & amber. Sometimes it reminds me of Chanel # 5. I’m on my 2nd bottle &!love the lotion too. …….⛱️☀️🍬.

Just received this today as a blind buy, and I'm in LOVE!!! It's not at all what I think of as a summer scent. I typically think of Hawaiian Tropic, Banana Boat, or Coppertone lotions when I think of summer or sunscreen smells- and this is not that at all. It's extremely powdery, but in a light and clean way, with a little amber in the base. It almost reminds me of a "powder fresh" deodorant or feminine hygiene products, but in a good way. Makes me feel clean and feminine. Lovely!

This is my happy place in a form of perfume. Takes me to this soft sweater, sun on summer camp, first memory of baby products. Gives me comfort. It is the smell that you want to wrap yourself around.

Immediately from the first spray I get a wave of lotion mixed with spices, aquatic accord, citrus and cassis (which, together, remind me of what is sprayed in public bathrooms to fight the stench), woodiness and ylang ylang. It starts out with a sweet woodiness, but as the scent opens up it turns smokier, and I get some bitter florals, except they're hidden somewhere deep behind the overpowering lotion smell. It definitely reminds me of the classic sunscreen smell, but does it fit with the marketing of the fragrance? I don't think so. It's not pleasant, and together with the patchouli and woodiness it just doesn't give off a summer vibe. It's very smoky, I get a lot of tobacco leaf, amber, and styrax. I usually love amber, so I was excited to see it here, but this composition just doesn't do it right. I find the combination of the lotion with tobacco leaf, amber, and that styrax leathery smokiness nauseating. The tonka bean, musk, and vanilla do try to balance the woodiness but it's a weak attempt and this fragrance just feels so badly imbalanced. There's also barely any sweetness! As this fragrance opens up it truly feels unwearable to me. It's so balsamic and ambery, and typically I adore oriental fragrances, but here it just wasn't it. It smells like what you'd expect from walking into a super sketchy vintage shop with piles of dusty clothes strewn everywhere, that haven't been touched in decades. And all the windows are barred shut. I'm not sure if it's the styrax-benzoin combo that's the villain here, or the lotion that's giving me a headache as I write this, but I can't imagine this as a summer fragrance. I can imagine it as a summer smell, something you'd encounter on the busy sidewalkes of a crowded city on its hottest day. It's so smoky, and though I didn't like it I can see this working as an autumn-winter fragrance for someone who wants an unsweet oriental. Overall though, the vibe I get is still of a public bathroom on a touristy beach. Or a crowded sidewalk where cars are speeding by and everyone is sweating and wearing sunscreen. Edit: after wearing it longer the vanilla subdues the killer lotion a little and makes it more creamy and bearable. The woody-smoky ambery-patchouli benzoin mess calms down too but I can definitely still smell everything I mentioned above. The vanilla just blended everything more into this creamy mixture with a slightly spicy (mostly turmeric) faint woodiness. Still get that public restroom crowded city vibe though.

During my search for an old school suntan lotion-like perfume, I came across this fragrance. I was about to blind buy it, but the wildly contradicting comments almost scared me off. A couple of days later, I found this gem in a drugstore, and it was on sale for a very affordable price. I bought it on the spot without even asking for a tester. And guess what… none of the buzzwords you’d expect from a sunscreen fragrance were there. not. even. remotely. No lotion, no sun, no beach. But do you know what my nose did get? A very distant memory of candy hearts: sweethearts. I loved their smell but hated their taste as a child. (Probably mostly because I discovered I wasn’t the only one receiving a Valentine’s Day card and sweethearts from my crush.) I wear it on cold days and layer it with a dash of gourmand body mists to honour bittersweet valentine’s day memories.

It's crazy how people smell things differently. I don't smell any sunscreen or anything even reminiscent of summer. It smells clean, so soapy like a vintage soap, and I don't think it's an office-friendly type of scent either. I cannot imagine smelling it during summer.

I love this so much - it's become my everyday fragrance, layered with the shower gel and body cream... The price is ridiculously cheap, especially considering it was made by the nose behind Creed Spring Flower and so many other lovely feminine scents, Pierre Bourdon. It's beachy, clean, floral and just a tad spicy (the carnation note) and opaque. Well worth the 10€ I paid!

I smell like beach I smell like beach I smell like beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaach Milky, sweet, ocean, sunscreen, somebody definitely peed somewhere in the distance but it adds to the experience. Great work/office scent.

Got handed a sample of this today and it's... certainly something! The immediate association I have with this scent is, weirdly enough, that kind of wildly pink, scented stationery for young girls that was all the rage in the 2000's. Artificial and very, very sweet. Dries down into something lotion-y. I will admit, though: it's not bad. It's extremely specific and I don't like it on me, but on someone else who's bold enough to lean into the inherent tackiness of this scent? Yeah, sure, why not, as long as they don't go too heavy on it.

It's a great time of year to revisit Sun. This is not your typical "beach" fragrance (no coconut/ tropical/ "coppertone" sunscreen notes). It's a little loud & heavy for summer but absolutely perfect for fall and winter. This has a creamy, citrus fizz opening that moves into a soft, warm, and spicy floral (I get ylang-ylang with the powdery facets of carnation and iris). The drydown on this is a superb resinous amber that is well balanced with vanilla, tonka and a touch of patchouli. The patch is subtle, but that (combined with the benzoin & styrax) is why I can't deal with it in warmer weather. Sun is a nice, cozy bedtime fragrance as the temps start to drop – a winter holiday in a bottle at a very affordable price.

My uncle gave this perfume to my grandma as a gift a few years back. I always hated how it smelled on her! Even begged her to not wear it around me please. It really smells like sunscreen-in an absolute overpowering way. The sweetness itches my nose in a bad way. It‘s very powdery what I usually like in perfumes, but this one is soooo powdery that i feel like i need to sneeze. The overall vibe I get from it: After a long day at the beach, swimming in saltwater, reapplying sun screen, tanning in the sun and laying in the sand there wasn‘t enough time to go shower before dinner so you just spray some sweet perfume or deo on you and hope nobody realises. When my grandmas perfume was finally done I hoped I never have to smell it again. Then last Christmas he gifted her another perfume… Not the „sun“ one but one that has the same nose itching, not clean smelling, overly powdery scent. Horrible. Again. I never had such an adverse reaction to a perfume and I usually don‘t even comment on them, but this one is just to much for me! If anyone has a suspicion what ingredient it could be, that my olfactory nerves seem to reject so badly, please let me know!!!

The perfume opens very creamy and sweet, immediately reminiscent of an expensive sunscreen you’d use at the beach. Despite its listed notes, in the opening the scent itself is not floral or fruity, but purely creamy-sweet. It is intensely creamy and sweet—just like sunscreen—and after a few minutes, it becomes more floral with a slightly bitter or sharper undertone. That could be due to heliotrope, which is often used in women’s perfumes to add depth to the composition. I quickly notice that the scent completely drops its sunscreen-like opening and remains more floral, though it retains a certain underlying sweetness. As the name suggests, this is an excellent summer fragrance that works perfectly for casual wear or the office. I see this perfume as a 99% daytime scent rather than an evening one, as it lacks the depth and substance needed for nighttime wear. As an Eau de Toilette, it doesn’t have enough weight or richness to transition seamlessly from day to evening. However, as a sweet, creamy everyday fragrance for spring or summer, it absolutely serves its purpose. The sillage is strong at first but settles as the creamy-sweet (sunscreen-like) notes fade, leaving a more floral impression. For the price, it’s perfectly fine. Unfortunately, for me, it’s best suited to summer and daytime wear. For other occasions or seasons, I don’t see it fitting well. It’s too summery, too uniform, and lacks the depth and complexity needed for cooler seasons or evening events. The sillage is strong initially but softens over time, and the longevity is moderate. For the low price, it’s a good everyday perfume for summer. Simple, but affordable and pleasant.

Can't stand it and would be absolutely fine with it disappearing. To me it is just too much and does smell like cat piss.

What happened to my Sun! I don't remember Sun like it is now. Something change, right? Still recognizable but not how it was before. Sun was more balsamic and powdery and now carnation is screaming so much it wipe out every other note.

Super unique, literally smells like the sun ->Hot, Beachy sun-tan cream, heavy, powdery and one of a kind. Nothing I'd wear myself, but something I can appreciate.

Second comment here, this is a great and cozy scent but I feel like its very intimate, and I actually like to project a little, not in an offensive way, but after a while it smells very faintly or you have to get very close to someone’s skin to smell something, which is no bueno. This is more for a person that likes very subtile scents that like to not smell what they are wearing while wearing it. Unfortunately will have to let this one go and not buy again. :/

This is such a beautiful and nostalgic fragrance. It makes you remember being carefree and simply having fun in the summer. The perfect beach and summer scent. I forgot how much I love it until spraying it again yesterday and wearing it today. I immediately bought another bottle just to have it for when I run out now that I’ll be wearing it again

To the people saying this smells like bathroom, piss and what not, LET IT SIT. Yes in the beginning it smells something like freshener or bug spray BUT, it’s the resins and woods clearing out, after that it’s the most comforting, delicious and creamy lotion like fragrance, don’t judge it right away, let it do it’s job and then complain. I love it and it’s a staple already in my collection, it’s a year round fragrance for both summer and winter.

This was my aunt's signature back then, and I really can say, this is really reformulated. The original formula was far better, yes, but this still rocks. Though, I can say, this is a little heavy for summer. I'd recommend wearing this in winter/fall. Still rocks, though. Not so different from what I remember but yeah, a little different. Still amazing though. Edit: don't overspray. Trust me on this one.

This is a tale of two perfumes, as Sun has two distinct phases. (Sadly, only the second one is pleasant.) It starts quite sharp with an almost urine-like citrus (lemon + cassis?). Comments about bathroom cleaner and pee are not far off. Not pleasant; there’s a reason that Fragrantica describes the cassis note as “cat’s piss.” That lessens after 45 min to an hour, and a very nice soft amber-vanilla with a light creamy citrus note emerges. But is it worth enduring the hour of ick? Surely there is another frag that gives off creamy lemon amber from the get go. I do really like this after hour #1.
