absolutely love this one. my bottle is kind of broken, so whenever i spray it, it starts leaking. i have to be very careful when i use it, but otherwise i love layering it with other scents or just reveling in powdered aldehydes. it can be a little strong (metallic even? although it may be the leather and bergamot...) in its initial application, but the way it dries down is gorgeous.

A dark, mysterious, and spicy floral draped over a heavy labdanum and suede base. It carries a distinct Voodoo Lily DNA, balancing powdery florals with a resinous, vintage-edgy depth that smells completely unique.

I still remember, having splurged on three JHAG's Midnight Ouds, that also this perfume won me over immediately. hearing Romano is [family, a nephew ?] of Nina Ricci is just fantastic ! such disparate tastes and somewhat a comparison of 'wild' versus 'overcorrect'. to me this perfume bears (some) resemblance with Mona di Orio's 'Nuit Noire'. comparing the notes I see the following resemblances: Leather, Flowers ([NN:} Tuberose, Orange blossom) while Citizin Queen isn't sparse with flowers: Iris, Rose, Immortelle, Tuberose, Labdanum, Orange Blossom [and Vanilla]) and Nuit Noire has the two woods Cedar and Sandelwood. but with the resins and sweet touches (CQ: Labdanum, Resins, Vanilla and Ambroxan) where (NN has: Amber, Tonka, Olibanum, White Musks) they are just two powerful and supersophisticated, complex perfumes which I both love dearly. these are modern niche perfumes heralding old traditions and compositions. I love them both.

Powdery iris. A baby powder perfume with a hint of iris. Very clean scent and nice blend. I still liked it as it's a sophisticated version of baby powder perfume I've encountered. If you want this but without the iris go for "Putain des Palaces" by Etat Libre d'Orange.

If you are looking for a baby powder scent, this is it.

Plasticized and very powdery. Begins with iris-rose and then soft leather (scent of new handbag), finishing in the drydown with a cozy musk. It unfolds calmly, gradually revealing layers. A carnal combination, very mature, something "leather with sweat," without being animalic. Ambery and resinous. The expression too old-fashioned is appropriate here

Анонім★★★★★

A skanky, animalic boudoiresque iris powder with vintage aldehydes and musk. Certainly in the same realm as Putain des Palaces by ELDO but different enough to own and love both.

Sometimes I think, is it possible to have too many perfumes with a similar scent profile? But then I find when reading certain favorite notes, I just can't help myself - what magical creation may await this time? And so it was with Citizen Queen, as soon as I saw violet, powder, vanilla, musk - all my favorites - I had to give it a chance. I snagged an excellent deal and couldn't be happier. This is a snappy and uplifting take on what could otherwise be "just another" makeup scent. The sillage is limited after the first couple of hours but I don't mind. I just spray more. Citizen Queen indeed.

citizen queen was a fragrance i was genuinely hyped for before smelling it, mostly because the notes sounded like something i should love. on paper it felt promising, elegant, maybe even powerful. but once i actually smelled it, it somehow… disappeared. not in a subtle, mysterious way, more like it just didn’t stick to my brain at all. it didn’t feel like its notes translated clearly, and nothing about it stood out enough for me to grab onto. i remember getting a lot of bergamot, or at least something citrusy and fresh, but even that felt vague and fleeting. the whole scent came across as strangely empty, almost like a concept rather than a perfume. not offensive, not bad, just very forgettable. i found it hard to even analyze because it left no emotional or sensory impression on me, which is probably the most confusing part. i really wanted this to be something, but on my skin and to my nose, it was simply… nothing.

Too strong, too agressive, too oldfashined for me. I hate it.

Анонім★★★★★

Wow! This is amazing! It's powdery yet modern and very complex. It doesn't have a sticky powdery feel to it, but rather a dry, sexy scent to me. The fragrance is expansive and lasts long enough.

Анонім★★★★★

It's powdery, vintage and aldehydic, but lighter than how it sounds. Purified, if you wish. 20 minutes fast forward and it's a modern rose-iris deep whisper with a hint of that je ne sais quoi that makes baby powder what it is. A little bit more than a hint, actually. But I always liked Citizen Queen. It's like a luminously filtered image of a past I never lived. A big list of vintage scents to recall, but it's just taking the same concept and recreating in through modern mentality and ingredients. Dramatically better when smelled from a distance, a real sillage star,.

Citizen Queen is the scent of secrets whispered through layers of vintage powder and worn-in leather. There's a paradox here — soft yet assertive, feminine but defiant. It conjures the image of a ballerina after the curtain falls: the grace still clinging to her movements, but her costume slightly creased, leather pointe shoes broken in and warm with memory. The leather isn’t sharp or industrial — it’s tactile, lived-in, and human. Powdery aldehydes give it a halo of softness, like a veil of antique makeup on a velvet glove. It’s not clean, not dirty — just intimately close, like a perfume kept in an heirloom box lined with suede. Wearing this makes me feel like I’m stepping into a forgotten story. Melancholy, sensual, and unapologetically unique.

This is such a gorgeous scent that gets so much less recognition than others from the line up. It's iris and leather but it's perfection. I found Guerlain Shalimar to be beautiful, but very strong on the civet...so I moved to Guerlain L'Initial. This is much more palatable, but a little bit too citrus/aldehyde sharp for me. I love it, but I do find it a bit much. Then...Citizen Queen. She is what I have been looking for. She is L'Initial, but so much more beautiful and soft. She is comforting, delicious and intriguing. There are few perfumes that to me don't feel like wearing a scent, but rather being wrapped in a cozy blanket that surrounds and comforts you during the day/night. This is that scent for me.

~ The Lady in White ~ A piece of white lace, unfolded through the corridor, is fading around the corner into another room. Resting on the ground, it's mysterious smell calls to trace it down. A beautiful woman wearing a white off-shoulder dress with lace details is peacefully laying in her casket. Her skin pale and soft as a snow blanket, her hair black as the dead of the night. The blue Moon's shine enters the space, caressing her chest and bare shoulders. Her last sweet words, unspoken, hanging on her luscious lips. In her deep sleep she combs her long hair with her thin fingers. Her sharp nails are weaving the path, guiding you through the long dark night and onto the soft, clean white blanket. -Is it a dream?- You ask yourself. She is luring you into her embrace. Her skin scent emits an exotic mix of flowers sunk in sweetness, like summer warmth with a backbone of dirty indoles accompanied by the cooling breeze. So irresistible, that it makes you want to sink into her skin and breath her in deeply. Perfectly balanced so you become deaf and blind enough to stay close for just the right amount of time. The only thing you're left with is to follow your nose. An intoxicating vertigo of emotions and smells buried deep into a loving embrace, pierces your heart, sealed with a sharp kiss. Once the spinning is over, it's safe to say that you've experienced both life and death and surprisingly, got the best out of it. Because she is after all, also kind and giving. That is how Citizen Queen smells. Timeless, yet modern. Light, with underlying, brooding darkness. Cold, but providing warmth. Clean, but oh so pleasantly dirty. * * * In my opinion it's a romantic vampiric scent. The slightly animalic nature shows us her "fangs", making her not just another basic powdery scent. Right upon application, it smells like crushing white florals, iris and rose petals doused in sweet amber syrup mixed with melted labdanum and resins. There is also a cold freshness to it, until it melts down into the skin and becomes fluffy and warm. Almost like a vibrant orange tinted cocktail drink spilled on a dark red and black sofa with residues of an expensive powdery smelling lotion. The smell of leather is there, dancing with the powder. The aldehydes and iris are making the composition classy, giving a slight retro throw back. A true master-piece by house of JHAG. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 9/10

This is gorgeous! It reminds me of a defanged version of Guerlain Shalimar—could be a flanker. It has lots more powder and that’s in the opening. I don’t get any soapy aldehydes, and I am glad. While I think Chanel’s aldehydes work well, I don’t care for it in most other perfumes. Citizen Queen is a classy perfume, and it is a welcome change from some lackluster gourmands I have tried in recent months. I did like a few, but the vast majority were disappointing. Overall, this is velvety leather with flowers and powder.

Анонім★★★★★

I want to love this …it’s so frustrating. This is a perfect example of why you should never think a perfume that you love on paper will absolutely translate to a love on skin. Something about the aldehydes and the leather together in the opening turns my nose off. Hopefully I will enjoy the drydown more 🤷♀️. This is my second time wearing it …but the first time I fell asleep. We will see …I do think the bottle is gorgeous! Soapy, powdery (and I LOVE powder!!!) bitter leather and florals is what I am getting right now. I think once some of the warmth I am expecting from the base notes shows up that everyone will play well together. (Update: the drydown does make this much more pleasant and enjoyable than its brash opening. Softer and less soapy after the aldehydes calm …the powdered florals combine with the ambery base notes that bring a bit of warmth and sweetness to round out the wear. Still not a love but it’s ok. I think if you are looking for something in this vein Fleur de Peau does it better. Just my opinion. )

How on earth have I been sleeping on this? I was wearing JHAG way before it was popular, going through one of their early discovery sets when they first launched at Sephora and no one had even heard of Not a Perfume yet. Not to flex!! But I was attentive to the brand way back, that is the point. Somehow this one missed my notice. I am glad to discover it now, and my goodness it is divine. Definitely full bottle worthy. I am all about the powdery scents, and compared to the brand's Lipstick Fever, this is a 9 while that's about a 6.5 at best. I definitely need more of this in my life.

Анонім★★★★★

It smells exactly like a lush store! It is so many different scents all at once. It was not necessarily overwhelming; I thought it was pretty interesting. One spray lasted about 6 hours on my wrist.

Анонім★★★★★

The open is kind of stinky, like super heavy floral that's almost astringent. But hours later it's all lovely soft powder. I was searching for a baby powder fragrance a year ago and sort of gave up, but I think this is it! I really like aldehydes and powdery fragrances though.

Анонім★★★★★

This was a blind buy and though I like the notes, it is a bit too powdery and musky for me. Its like a baby powder deodorant. Very cloying on my skin. I go from liking to disliking this. If you want a nice musk I would recommend Narciso Rodrigues Pure Musk. It is much lighter and less cloying.

Анонім★★★★★

At the first sniff, I had no idea why this fragrance got the name queen – queens usually dominate people, area, room in my understanding. On my skin, Citizen Queen von JHAG is rather decent with its powdery attitude and arm length silage – but yet very strong as it stays and serves with wonderful powdery, musky, leathery molecules with a good hint of iris during the whole day. So my conclusion – yes, it is a queen in the highest sense of the word – elegant, subtle, radiant.

Анонім★★★★★

I have bought this twice hoping to love it the second time around and I just can’t. I have about 12 JHAG perfumes in my collection and love all of them. This makes me nauseous and the opening is so sharp and spicy?? The opening is so confusing. The dry down is better but to me it smells like secret powder fresh deodorant. That’s all I was smelling and it was nauseating. The bottle is beautiful and I really do want to love it but I just cannot.

Анонім★★★★★

Soo… yess!! Got my bottle just before summer and with the hot days it was difficult to wear it. But now it’s time to rock it. Powdery, aldehydic, leather, citrus, resins and floral. Super elegant, clean and different! If you can get a bottle go for it.

Анонім★★★★★

I was taken back at first because it smells so vintage, akin to Shalimar, Skin Musk, Emeraude, and Wild Musk. I just wasn’t expecting it to smell so vintage. But it’s grown on me, beautiful spicy, leathery, powdery, aldehyde soapy scent that smells vintage but also modern somehow, maybe it’s just the bottle giving me a modern impression. It has good sillage and longevity. I agree with some reviewers that the leather note is more like a skin musk type of scent. Beautiful, and I love this brands bottles. Don’t overspray, I made the mistake of overspraying because I do that often with perfume, but it was too much when I did it with Citizen Queen.

Анонім★★★★★

Omg! It’s stunning! Aldehydes and slightly leather scent. Maybe suede. Weird and beautiful combination. It’s like a sister for Tom Ford Metallique.

Анонім★★★★★

Soft “baby” smell like perfume. Its a powdery aldehyde scent that takes over, you may pick up a little bit of that bergamot with the floral notes, to me the opening smells like cosmetics/nail polish and then it gets to the baby wipes/baby powder that people talk about. The dry down is a settled sweet candy ish floral resin. The more you try it the more you love it and appreciate it, sadly is discontinued but you can still get it on the internet. Wearing it being a man it takes me back to when as a child my mom used spray a cologne on me.

Анонім★★★★★

This smells like baby towels. Not unpleasant, but I definitely don't want to smells like that.

Spicy to my nose I dont like it Reminds me of CH 212 I think

I love this fragrance. I think it is such a soft aldehydic fragrance that even those people who stay away from that type of notes might like it. It is a beautifully modernized classic perfume in which the iris and the rose are perceived in that airy and almost metallic cloud formed by the aldehydes. These aldehydes are very tolearable, they only provide that touch of elegance that reminds us of iconic perfumes but without becoming heavy at all. As the hours go by, the aldehydes subside and the powdery notes and vanilla are the ones that stick to the skin the longest, together with a soapy touch. It has a moderate sillage and a good duration, on my skin about 10 hours. It seems perfect to me to become a woman's signature perfume and I think that eventually I will get the full bottle. Scent 8/10 Duration 10/10 Sillage 7/10 Quality/price 7/10 Versatility 8/10 Packaging 7.5/10 Would I buy again? I did not buy it
