On my skin this is a bit of a soapy and savory rose (from the saffron), that is paired with an okay oud. I also get a touch of the animalic note, which I don't like. Ouds are wildcards for me, sometimes I dig them and others I pass. Midnight Oud isn't very exciting to me. The wood is a bit too dark for my liking, and the saffron + castoreum also add a heaviness. The rose isn't doing enough to balance things out. It's there, but not a very interesting rose on its own. This seems to be many people's favorite JHAG fragrance. It is certainly different from many of their offerings, and is more fitting of the name Lady Vengeance. In fact, it is almost dominatrix in vibe. Maybe a leather note would have been a good consideration. But as it is, not really something wearable every day for me and not special enough for a special occasion. It fades fast and is gone by midday.

I got this onlineas a second-hand bottle, a lady was selling her almost full bottle for cheap. Few years back I got as a gift Lady Vengeance and at that time I didnt really like it so I gave it to my mom cause she loves rose frags. I got this one too cause over time I realized how well blended and expensive the Lady Vengeance is, so I decided to give it a go. When I first sprayed it, it smelled very medicinal and harsh. Then it would smell like a honey garden full of flowers/roses. This was my impression after first few uses. I totally get it why the lady sold almost a full bottle, I think she was put off by the medicinal opening. After a few uses I started to notice that the “medicinal” notes are bergamot and something else, maybe saffron? and I started to notice how pleasant it is. My skin supports all the heavy stuff like amber, oud, pachouli etc so it developed nicely. After that there was a full garden of ambery roses mixed with some other I cant really describe… I read online that it is supposed to represent middle-eastern garden full of exotic flowers at night (or something like that), and I totally get that image in my head. I love arabic perfumes and this is just the vibe. I think the oud is too syntheticy but overall I love it. I think it might even be great in the summer by night for someone brave, I might try it. I wore it in spring and it was just gorgeous. Im starting to love Juliette frags and Im motivated to try their other perfumes too.

now the whole initial blast of Midnight Oud is (also litterally) breathtaking. this is the gunshot in the face as like Montales' Louban, Black Aoud, Attar, Aoud Red Roses and like with the 80s powerperfumes Giorgio, Poison, Obsession, Knowing, Coco, Red, Gale Hayman Beverly Hills, Moschino parfum the toilette as you still had then, Opium and Youth Dew of 70s and 50s fame. "now this is perfume". with MO we immediately and totally smell nostril clearing Oud, Rose, Saffron, Patchouli and this blast lasts for an hour. I love it. the rose is as if it is deep drenched-in-wine the 1859 tzar Alexander Chateau d'Yquem stuff. this rose delivers. the Oud has all the nylony, vinyloid, medicinal qualities I adore. (Ever tried Dusitas "Oudh Infini" which I am bewitched by?) then, MO definitely has a chic demeanour, lasting for hours with grandiose sillage also due me thinks, to the castoreum. as someone remarked the rose is reinforced by the geranium while the saffron refines the rose and oud. its lasting base is given by the sandelwood, castoreum and amber. the packaguing is really chic where the velvet cocon is adorned with the ribbon but wears with deep brown chestnut colour as it then was said: it was dedicated to Dubai either or, the Dubai market. I bought three flacons in one gesture. a terrible, terrific, 80s reviving perfume. (this is good ... ) the papyrus goes lost on me and I belong to the half of the populace not able to detect synthetic muscs. the whole Narciso Rodriguez goes blown in the wind for me. STRONG, STRONG, STRONG: this is what I love. ["accords of Moroccan rose, oud, amber, several sorts of musk (castoreum), saffron, geranium, sandelwood, papyrus and patchouli oil."] (new) the moment this was presented in a Niche Perfumery 'Skins' in Rotterdam made such impression on me that I immediately acquired three Flacons in their exquisite and exotic packagings. the gold coloured (opaque) bottle was presented in a Satiated Brown (brown never my favorite colour) Velours Round Box and it was said these were Editions produced especially for Dubai. it was the Taupe-Brown I could appreciate, and the bow on top made the whole 'Event' memorable. not in the least because of the perfume. now I already had my share of Montales Rose-Ouds, which I all always loved and still love. he really was the person who brought Oud to the West. (from 2003 onward.) I was thus familiar with such distinctive profile and the Oud then used had a kind of Operation Room, Band-Aid (not necessarily used), Desinfectant smell, which I absolutely adored. this perfume also has an astonishing refinement and almost needless to say: an exceptionally citronnesque as at once, very present Imposement of Roses. when there was the dance of these two antagonists, it was already 'done' for me, as I got reminiscences to Montale's undeniable and irreversible Rose-Oud perfumes. there was an executive minisculity in detail here which made the perfume specific and costly. when then Saffron and either Castoreum and, or, Civet are also represented (Castoreum) it is a done deal. I am rather primitive in my choices. contrary to this, I also love classical perfumes. while there was some 'micro-editing' done in the perfume (by Romano Ricci, nephew of Nina Ricci. [or Grandson ?]), I more grasped toward intensive abrasive, annexationist, alarmist and presentist perfumes. Saffron for that matter adds a certain Metallugy which I crave for. as the Geranium and Patchouli must have been reinforcement of the used Roses (Maroccan & Damask) this perfume was definitely my cup of tea. I guess I am a complex personality with Primitive, Instinctive, Emotional and Hysterical Traits, so my gut feeling led me the way. but then there are also super Classical Vintage Perfumes which all sit in my collection in a Matellasséed place as I do love Chanel, Christian Dior, Scherrer, Balmain, OscardelaRenta, Ungaro, Geoffrey Beene, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Karl Lagerfeld, all Couturiers which I exprerienced predominantly in the 1970s and 1980s. so my Trajectory was simple: Classic Perfumes in the 1970s, all the Hookerperfumes from the 1980s. in 2003-2004 Montale came. the Rose-Oud perfumes went not unnoticed. and inbetween all the perfumes that were heady, sultry, rich, sickeningly floral, sinister roses and narcotic jasmine, pittosporum, tuberose, neroli and lilies. etc., etc. THIS was such perfume that fitted seamlessly within my esthetics. or, punk-esthetics. it also adds (retro-actively) some sophistication towards 'Juliette Has A Gun' as brand.

i just hope this to be (way-) more airy! however, its still good (its a classic dna anyway)! it has some freshness to it that makes it a bit more wearable where i live

This was my first oud scent and from now on I'm hooked. This perfume reads very fresh and floral on my skin (not the biggest fan of the very green smell) but the deep woody oud scent when it dries down keeps me interested.

The best JHG ever made. Performance 100/10

for me this opens hard saffron with an almost plasticky note that makes my mouth water a little. it’s like rice pudding meets the stackable ring toss toy i chewed on all the time when i was 2. within two hours i smell like a cup of tea and also like i’m within arm’s reach of a campfire, a lot of saffron, a jammy rose, sillage and throw still going insane, could probably choke a goat. after a few hours of the teacup phase it becomes this dreamy comforting powdery rose with a hint of paper about it like maybe the way the stacks smell in the library but you know, with more roses. 10 hours later it’s a delectable unplaceable skin scent

Blood-curdling bad bitch or badass boss bitch from Dante's inferno with an agenda to rule the world with her apocalypse (and some say coma) inducing death-by-a-thousand-daggers stares and lethal vibes. Period. Her period blood was added to her evil potion that flooded the world with toxic fumes like pyroclastic flows from a sun blocking, crop murdering, ancient dynasty ending and perpetual-winter inducing volcanic eruption of Minoan, Vesuvian or Campi Flegreian proportion. If Vengeance Extreme is a vibe—it was more of a purr or whisper to me actually—Midnight Oud would be an actual nose hair singeing radioactive thermonuclear explosion. During its opening to mid phase at least. Its dry down is a calmer dark rose wearing a burgundy lipstick, biker jacket over a floral dress and pair of combat boots browsing through a bookstore.

Got a sample of this and it does just feel like the older more mature sister of Lady Vengeance. I kinda don't like how heavy this one feels tho. I might test it out some more at home but it feels too overwhelming for me to wear.

Анонім★★★★★

This one isn't spectacular -- the rose is booming and smells enchanting, but it is, unfortunately, ANOTHER sweet-rose and bandaid-oud (oud blend) combo, which doesn't re-write anything, didn't re-write anything and WON'T re-write anything. What I get out of this, though, after about 6 - 8 hours of wear, is an ENCHANTING lily accord -- I get Passage D'Enfer, by L'Artisan, and I can't shake the feeling that I'm wearing it! I can't see it mentioned anywhere else, so I might be alone in that. Nonetheless, I didn't mind this, even though it was a smidge derivative...

Дуже сподобався. Тільки з другого підходу. На жарі класно розкривається. Стійкий, шлейфовий. Не кожній сподобається. Змінюється, чутна гра нот...

This is a pretty solid rose-oud combo fragrance, both combine very well and neither note is too strong. I would recommend sampling this as its not cheap at it retail of $150, but I do recommend trying out if you enjoy floral with oud fragrances, because this could be a everyday fragrance easily in the cold months :) overall 8/10 sillage 7/10 projection 7/10 longevity 8/10

So far, MO is the best rose-oud combo I've encountered. The rose is shining in this getup, and I can't help smelling myself whenever I wear MO. It's intoxicating, addictive, bold, and yet balanced. The projection is quite good, and lasts around 6 hours on me. I love fragrances that make me feel like vampire royalty and this is one of those fragrances!

Анонім★★★★★

Being loving it lately, I guess I had to let it macerate. Oud, Rose and Saffron. Pretty soft and powdery. An Oud for elegant ladies! But gentelmen can rock it too!

The definition of a mid oudh fragrance. Sweet and jammy rose with plenty of synthetic oudh-alike notes. Very linear, with a stronger presence than most JHAG. If you can find it for a good price and are just curious about oudh, it's a likable gateway. It's probably giving the most of everything I've smelled from JHAG, and I appreciate it for that, even if it's still not anything exactly groundbreaking.

Hahaha… this is why I love the ups and downs of blind buying perfumes. At first I thought I was being gaslighted by it and then it turned out it was me all the time, the opening of this is so chemical/alcohol, but guess that was the papyrus, bergamot, saffron mix, I couldn’t smell anything even I thought I’ve go noseblind or even lost the sense of smell, the first spray of this smelled like a clinical tool cleaning product. On a testing strip does not smell similar than on skin, needs the warm of our body to work better. Once the inicial part vanishes what is left is so beautiful and a light (airy rose, green leaves, some oud, floral spicy). I will let macerate my bottle for months and come back to it. Hahahaha, the amount of atomizations I used to try this to verify if I’ve lost the sense of smell, it just makes me laugh.

Pure beauty, it's a dark rose with vintage style. Nahema, is that you ? It's her sister in darker and more concentred version. Midnight Oud is darker than Nahema but very similar. I love it, it's for mysterious women. I agree with comments say it's good for goth style. It also reminds me Promise Me Intense by Mauboussin. It was a blind buy, I'm happy to discover this beauty ! I love this romantic gothic sillage. "Witches teach sultans" is part of the lyrics of Make it known by The Black Angels that make me think of this scent ✨ Perfect for niche perfumes lovers 🖤

This opens with such a strong bergamot note, and it continues right to the end, so you really have to love bergamot to enjoy this as it might be too cloying for some. It's a dark, clean fragrance. The main notes to my nose are bergamot, rose, oud, and saffron, the oud and saffron aren't too clinical in my opinion like some can be. I think it's a wonderful fragrance with brilliant performance. Lasts almost 12hrs on me with pretty good projection.

This is another amazing rich scent I have in my collection. It’s classy and has a “don’t mess with me” vibe to it. I generally wear it in the evenings, and have had several compliments. Definitely recommend it!

Анонім★★★★★

For me, Midnight Oud opens lethally sharp and sour, medicinal and acrid—however, it quickly begins to smooth out and sweeten up, into a less aggressive mix of bold, spicy, resinous oud and crisp, thorny rose. The warm vanillic and ambery notes are too minor to take the harsh edges off the fragrance, but they do lightly soften its dark, sharp smolder, gentling it into something enjoyable, albeit still fairly harsh. There's something a bit punk rock about Midnight Oud—the sharpness of the opening like the screech of feedback over the amps in an underground club, right before the band counts off a beat and hammers into their opening number. I definitely find this one a bit challenging at first, but honestly, I love the way it makes me feel like a cool, punk-rock bitch, who listens to wild music, wears smudged black eyeliner, and smokes in alleyways. (In reality I do approximately 0.5 of those things, at most.)

I got a 2nd hand bottle today. When I first came across it in a Libertine Perfumerie warehouse sale, I tried it and wasn't sure. On the way home, I smelled the wrist where I sprayed it again and again, and I knew that I will probably buy a bottle some day. I have not tried any genuine agarwood essential oil so I have no idea what it should smell like. I tried Tom Ford's Oud Wood a few times, but I wasn't sure I liked it. It does have some overlapping notes with TF OW, but the Damask Rose balances the dryness of woody notes and comes to a powerful and elegant blend. I know it's all synthetic, like all JHAG, so there is not much development to expect as you would for the genuine oud. Still, I find at this price point it is a satisfying oud rose and I'll probably try more expensive and delicate oud rose perfumes in the future.

A perfume with the frequent rose-oud combo in a version that is both mysterious and delicate. It smells like roses, a saffron that gives it a leathery touch, oud and musk. There is also an animalic touch in the composition that, although subtle, makes it more interesting. Totally unisex and of linear development. It has a moderate sillage and lasts on my skin for 6-7 hours. In comparison with similar perfumes mentioned in Fragrantica, it is less citric than Magnificently Dubai and much less sweet than Rose Oud by Alexandre J. I like both better than this Midnight Oud. It also bears similarities to its brother of collection Another Oud from Juliette Has a Gun but is less sweet than this one and also has a bit less duration. Another Oud I also like better. Curiously, without being a bad perfume, in the couple of days that I have been preparing this review, making comparisons with other perfumes and wearing this fragrance, I have gone from liking it more at first to liking it less and less. Smell 6/10 Duration 6.5/10 Sillage 7/10 Quality/price 4/10 Versatility 6.5/10 Packaging 7/10 Would I buy again? I did not buy it

Not bad at all .. oud rose scent 8/10 Some good stuff Definitely unisex

First spray is a pungent blast of gasoline. Wood. Leather. And then Oud. Almost immediately calms down to a rosey oud that lasts about 4 hours. It’s nice and not too pricey. If you can get past the first few minutes it’s a perfectly pleasant oddly close to the skin scent. IMO lots of other rose/Oud perfumes sparkle more than this one. Not a fb purchase for me

Анонім★★★★★

This was the first oud perfume I have ever experienced… and to be honest, I never want to experience it again. It was so strong that its smell haunted me for days, every time I would think about it I got this weird instinctual urge to run away from it. My partner at the time smelled it and said “now that smells like old people”. There is a metallic note in it that absolutely turned my stomach and even reminiscing upon it now makes me feel queasy and uneasy. DEFINITELY a statement perfume… NO ONE will forget you if you wear this. Not for the faint of heart.

Анонім★★★★★

A big statement perfume. Animalic from the Castoreum, very loud combined with the Oud. Then a very prominent Rose. A very bold, sharp, glamorous fragrance designed for getting attention. May not appeal to everyone but it will be noticed.

Анонім★★★★★

now this stinks

Анонім★★★★★

A dark funky complex but beautiful rose/oud combo that defines niche IMO. This had to grow on me over time. At first, I couldn't get past the stank aggressive animalic opening. I revisited a year later and the opening isn't offensive anymore and I'm thankful I had the patience because the reward is phenomenal. The roses/geranium/oud/castoreum combo is 🔥. It's sensual and confident. For me, this is strictly for night time or cool Florida weather in the winter. If you don't like oud or animalic...RUN!! This is not a safe blind buy.

Анонім★★★★★

The mid and dry down notes of Midnight Oud are as lovely as the opening saffron (or is it oud) note is harsh, medicinal and cacophonous. How to solve the problem? I tried layering it with Jo Malone's Red Roses which on me has an unfortunate urinous dry down but the freshest and most photorealistic rose opening ever. The effect is reminiscent of Portrait of a Lady, just divine! I was going to sell both but now I will simply layer them instead.

Анонім★★★★★

I love the oud note but the rose is so, so syrupy sweet on me. Still, that might not have too big a problem because the rose seems to mellow out on the skin after about an hour but... the opening spray smells like straight up melted plastic on me. That melted plastic smell never dissipates, so it's not for me. Everything gets a weird artificial overlay because of it. I wonder if the sample I had was off or something, but I'm not keen to try out any other sizes of this. Definitely try it out before you buy. It is long lasting and projects decently.
