It's so fun seeing so many mixed reviews on this product. Here's my two scents (haha get it?): The main issue can be summed up in one sentence: it's a GREAT classic vanilla scent- but very over priced. When I first sampled it, I was honestly underwhelmed. It's a pleasant, sweet vanilla, but that's really all it is. It doesn't evolve much on my skin, and the scent stays fairly linear from start to finish. The performance is solid, though. Both the sillage and longevity are perfectly respectable. My issue is the price. Are you really paying that much for a vanilla fragrance that, to my nose, isn't much more interesting than a good vanilla body mist with better longevity? To me, this works best as a layering perfume rather than a standalone fragrance. That's exactly why I struggle to justify the price tag. If you're mainly looking for something to layer, I'd honestly recommend buying a less expensive vanilla instead. Lattafa Eclaire is more gourmand than this, but I'd rather invest in a great gourmand perfume and pair it with an affordable vanilla mist that I can reapply throughout the day. All in all, it's still a good perfume. I've smelt it on my friends and I thought they smelt great (although they all layered other things with it). It just wasn't worth the price for me for such a simple smell that would need additional layering.
This is quite an intimate scent, stays closer to skin but smells amazing, a little hack is to use it as a base and spray Phlur vanilla skin body mist on top. Unreal combo.
To make magic happen, this perfume needs to be worn on skin, not clothes. When you spray it on skin, it smells incredible... intoxicating, delicious and sultry. I love the opening of this scent with its sweet almost fruity patchouli. Then come the florals, which are incredibly well-blended. The drydown is sweet and vanillic, slightly spicy and definitely musky. Personally, when I spray this on clothes it's lacklustre and fades quickly. It projects much more strongly when on skin, and lasts longer in general. This is a vanilla-based perfume, but it's certainly not a basic vanilla. There are a lot of other notes in the mix, and that's what makes it special and unique. I can see why people covet this, and why it's often sold out. I don't recommend wearing this to work or anywhere that you need to concentrate, because it's so intoxicating that it's distracting 😂 (In a good way)
Nice base perfume to layer with other fragances
It's not bad, I don't dislike it or anything, but it's just okay to me because it really does smell like just a layering perfume. It's a lovely floral vanilla, a touch ambery, but it's missing something (for me) that prevents it from smelling like a full fragrance.
Great perfume, not my absolute favorite out of my collection but definitely the one I get the most compliments on. Rich, warm marshmallow + wood sort of vanilla. It's definitely a gourmand but it isn't cakey/candy like. Maybe a little boozy feeling but nothing too intense. Definitely not the sort of thing I would recommend for warmer/hot weather (the heat makes it too much too fast).
they put something in this. its so addictive. theres a salty musky quality that makes it feel so sexy and expensive.
One of the most beautiful vanilla scents that I’ve ever smelled. However, it lasts for 15 minutes max. Hard pass for me.
sooooooo beautiful impossible to describe smells like MONEY but longevity doesn't even exist unfortunately.
probably the best vanilla fragrance for layering ever made. delicious on its own, a bit more strong and complex than a vanilla body spray but not overwhelming enough to overpower scents it can be combined with.
Reviewing as a man whose gf recently got this. This is the most alluring and attractive vanilla fragrance on the market for women. MP’s Vanilla Powder is significantly stronger but doesn’t smell half as pulling and captivating as this. You’re not going to have people smell you across the room, but a lot of people that walk past you will look back to try and track who they just smelled. Do with that what you will.
Sweet, vanilla, warm, amber, woody, warm spicy, powdery, musky, patchouli, feminine, chic, classy, sophisticated, sensual, seductive, sexy, glam, luxe, dreamy, enchanting, divine, alluring, tempting, intoxicating, addictive, inviting, cozy, comforting This is THE VANILLA🍨 A sexy as hell, deep, glamorous, and luxe vanilla and warm golden amber coated in decadent brown sugar on a rich woody base. It has the perfect balance between being sensual and seductive, and being cozy and comforting. It’s very warm spicy too, which adds to the depth and coziness. I’d even call it a decadent scent. The most prominent notes on are the vanilla orchid, amber, brown sugar, and patchouli. Overall, this is definitely one of the sexiest perfumes that I own along with JPG Classsique Eau de Parfum and YSL Black Opium Le Parfum. Honestly, I feel like this is already a classic! I’m a huge fan of Kayali fragrances in general, and currently own 21 of them. Vanilla 28 was my first, along with Yum Pistachio Gelato and Utopia Vanilla Coco. I blind bought minis of all 3, and once I tried Vanilla 28, I immediately ordered the large bottle! My top 5 favorites are Yum Boujee Marshmallow, Vanilla 28, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, The Wedding Silk Santal, and Yum Pistachio Gelato. I currently have their newest perfume, Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk, on the way, and have high hopes for it! I also really adore the Vacay in a Bottle collection, and really enjoy all 4 during the warmer weather! I also have the Eden collection, with Juicy Apple and Sweet Peach as my favorites! I do own Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli, and for anyone wondering, it’s a deeper, more boozy, and more patchouli forward version of Vanilla 28 which I also enjoy! To me this feels feminine, and like it would easily suit women of any age. This definitely works best during the fall and winter because of its sweetness, richness, depth, and coziness. I think this works for any occasion including fancy and work/school. I get exceptional performance with Vanilla 28. The longevity is excellent, it lasts throughout the entire day on me. The projection is strong, it radiates out at least a few feet from me. I only need a few sprays for this effect, so I do consider this to be a good value. Also, whenever I got my bottles the liquid was already a deep purple brown color. I’ve heard that once it’s this color as opposed to the lighter brown shade that not only does it have better performance, but also had a more rich and deep scent. For reference, some of my other favorite fragrances include Kilian LDBS, Princess, GdT Celeste, Bianco Latte, PdM Oriana, Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, Nest Sunkissed Hibiscus, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid, Burberry Goddess, The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods, Guerlain Mon Guerlain, JHAG Powder Love, Summer Fridays Sunlit Vanilla, LSF Secret Crush, Vanilla Twirl, Ellis Brooklyn Marshmallows, Queen’s Caramel, Vanilla Salt, Phlur Honey Moon, Heavy Cream, Vanilla Nectar, SDJ Summer é Amor, 62, 39, 71, VS Vanilla Lace, BBW Beach Nights, Cotton Candy Clouds, Boardwalk Marshmallow Clouds, Whipped Honey & Vanilla, Fireside Flurries, Coastal Dreaming
decided to test it again and got simple vanilla fragrance with slight burnt undertone. i wish more people smelled like this.
This is a beautiful scent. The opening instantly reminds me of pure vanilla extract used for baking, and I actually love that—when sprayed in moderation. It has a unique take on gourmand vanilla that feels different from the usual sweet, dessert-like fragrances. Unfortunately, the performance is disappointing on my skin. It barely lasts more than an hour before becoming a skin scent. On clothes, it performs a bit better, but it’s still not particularly long-lasting. Overall, it’s a lovely fragrance with a distinctive vanilla profile. If it performs well on your skin, it’s definitely worth having. Even if longevity isn’t the best, it shines as a layering fragrance and pairs beautifully with other perfumes.
You know every time I go to Sephora, I smell this just to see if I like it. I honestly don’t get much of a vanilla smell, it’s so light. It doesn’t smell bad, but it’s like if I wanted a vanilla perfume, I would not reach for this. it kinda just feels like the vanilla is afterthought.
I hate how much I love this
My Vanilla | 28 bottle is still a light brown colour, so I suspect it needs a few more months of maceration before it darkens further and the vanilla really comes through and projects into the room. At the moment, it's quite floral on my skin, leaning heavily towards vanilla orchid. As a male wearer, it's a little too floral for me to wear confidently outside the house.
This is a very unique perfume to me, at first I did not like the open at all. It was very weak then it dries much. Much stronger and just gorgeous but the longevity for me was not even 2 hours.
It’s soo good but you have to make is darker to be better
Boozy, warm, almost powdery vanilla. Its thick, sugary, comforting and seductive as fuck! Im gonna empty this one fast
This perfume smells delicious. Two of my friends have gotten this perfume because of me. I stopped wearing it for a bit and smelled it on my friend and it smelled AMAZING. Layers incredibly with Kuumba Made's Tunisian Amber.
I personally despised this perfume. I enjoy a lot of vanillas and gournand perfumes, but this one was really not for me. It was very heavy on my skin, to the point of being suffocating.I was expecting way more vanilla in this, but it is very subtle and overshadowed by a weird medicinal scent. Labeling it as a Vanilla perfume is odd, as there is vanilla but it is not the main focus. After watching reviews on social media, I really expected this to be a deeper vanilla that is sweet too. I expected the brown sugar to help notes to help it a little, but that was not the case. Not only that, but I was surprised at the price. Not worth the purchase.
This is… not for me. All my nose gets from this is a heavy menthol Carmex-y smell, which is presumably from the vanillin. And that’s it. No vanilla, no patchouli, no sugar, no amber. Just Carmex. Based on the notes, I should LOVE this! I ended up leaving my little travel bottle in the bathroom at work to inflict it on someone else’s nose 😖
Lives up to the hype. Great on its own or layered with any other fragrance to add warmth and depth. Agreed though that it's best to wear with dark clothing to avoid stains.
Savoury sort of scent, I catch nearly no vanilla in this? There's olives in there to me, kind of briny? I expected to smell it and get punched in the face with pure vanilla extract but I hadn't read the notes beforehand so it makes sense that I didn't get what I expected. Everything seems to track in the notes! Not bad, definetly not for me.
On me this is a warm, boozy, slightly spicy vanilla. I found this to be a pleasant, not overly sweet vanilla. The booziness sets this apart from being a basic and boring vanilla. With that said, this smells the same to me from first spray through dry down. I find this to be a common theme from Kayali. This is great if you like something linear and simple to wear or want to use it for layering but if you like more complex fragrances that evolve as you wear them, this is not it the vanilla fragrance for you. The longevity is pretty good for me. Keeps projecting for a few hours before becoming more intimate and lastes through my workday. I may grab a travel size if I saw it during a sale but otherwise not a full bottle purchase for me.
This is straight beast mode patchouli, amber and amberwood on me. Hardly one sugar crystal presents itself and the vanilla doesnt appear at all. For my chemistry it won't work which is a bummer, seems like the sugar just evaporates. I love the way it looks like vanilla absolute and it smells like awesome vanilla on the tester paper. I guess its not a match for me though.
This is a safe scent to wear at any time, season or place. It's a touch safe, but sometimes that might be how you want to play it. If you have no idea what perfume is appropriate, this is the one to reach for. I think it's worth having a bottle in your collection, but it's not unique or sparkly enough to be a signature scent.
straight, boozy, beautiful vanilla. almost like baking extract, and how the bottle develops sugar crystals around the rim over time. if that's your thing, you will surely be bewitched by this
Warm spicy vanilla with a smoky undertone. It is very sugary and edible, bringing to mind gingerbread cookies and vanilla extract.
