Kenzo pour Homme

Months ago a seller kindy included a tall decant along with an order. I promptly forgot about it. Now in the depths of summer, at least 90° every day, I'm giving it a try. What I get resembles an understated blend of Guy Laroche HORIZON and Rochas GLOBE. That's not a bad thing at all (especially since both of those are in my top 10) but this edt is merely okay since it lacks the body, complexity, and presence of either of those. Could be because the decant is probably of a later version. I'll assume that's why. Will finish up this sample but I don't see a reason to hunt down more.

Bought a used bottle 2018 batch because a friend hyped it up continuously. Starts off as sweet, salty, and powdery, but unfortunately becomes cloying and too floral very soon. I don't see it being masculine at all. It causes me a headache. Can't understand how it's a classic.

Perfect masculine scent! I have a 1992 bottle to sell in Europe if you want.

This is a review of the newer kenzo homme fragrance. It’s not worth buying. It smells like sunscreen or beach lotion and dries down to smelling like florals. So much so that this genuinely smells like a woman’s fragrance.

Perfume potente, marino, oscuro. No es el perfume fresco, ligero y radiante para un verano caluroso, sino uno con más carácter. Ideal para camisa, casual o formal. 8/10

My first indelible fragrance induced emotion as a kid was that day I sniffed my father's Drakkar Noir in the bathroom. But the frag which would leave me in an almost indescribable state of olfactive bliss/shock (which I have failed to experience of such magnitude ever since), was the night I used his newly acquired Kenzo Pour Homme bottle before going out on my first date, during my seventeenth spring. I had never smelled something as mysterious, eerie, soothing and beautiful. I can't recall how the date went, the only thing I remember from that night is the scent. Unfortunately its 2022 successor (Kenzo Homme edt) doesn't make the og Kenzo Pour Homme justice at all. A shame really, all the more since the other Kenzo Homme bottles in the current line (edp, edt intense, marine and indigo) are great fragrances.

This is masterpiece that left world of parfumes and I lost one of my best sent ever. I cant find comfort in this new Kenzo bamboo stiks cuz they dont have same smel at all

Despite its relatively high popularity, Kenzo pour Homme seems to be somewhat underrated. In my opinion, this is unjustified as it offers an incredibly invigorating experience, particularly in its initial phase, with a captivating and robust woody base. While it shares the concept of maritime freshness with Cool Water by Davidoff, which was released a year earlier, Mathieu's creation delves deeper and is more firmly entrenched in the essence of the sea, while Cool Water emphasizes the citrus notes more prominently. I also find certain associations between Kenzo pour Homme and Turquoise from Olivier Durbano's exquisite collection inspired by precious gemstones, although these connections are somewhat distant and the fragrances cannot be easily compared. In summary, I strongly believe that Kenzo pour Homme is a versatile fragrance suitable for men of all ages, making it an excellent choice, especially during the warm summer days. Ive really been enjoying this since i got it a little while back. Ive been thinking of the most simple yet accurate way to describe this... This is the live or animated movie depiction of a bracing cold winter wind gust through a forest. Movie because it isnt natural, but abstract. If that sounds interesting check it out. Dunno about new formulations.

Im probably going to buy a big bottle of the 2nd style, with how synthetic the original is (not to its detriment, the freshness is uniquely abstract) i dont see how they could have completely destroyed this with the 2nd formula. Wallet isnt fat enough for a big o.g. bottle a.t.m. lol

Synthetic? Yeah. Unique? Absolutely. It stands out from everything else on the market. Do I like it? More than I expected. I catch myself reaching for it more often than I’d admit. And it’s not just a summer scent it carries its own character all year round. Compliments? Sure, they happen, but that’s beside the point. I’ve never chosen a fragrance just to be liked by other. I wear it because it feels like me.

Used to have an original mini splash from the 1996 release. I never really cared for it so I sold it for $20 half full. Scent description here on Fragrantica is pretty accurate for what I smelled in it as well. Not a horrible scent but I wasn't into marine-heavy colognes and this one also carried bad memories so I guess I just never opened up to accepting the unique qualities that made this a flagship scent for Kenzo & THE BOTTLE IS BADASS! 🤩 Especially the mini! 🥰 So flippin' cute! To give this formulation credit, it truly stood the test of time & forces of nature. It smelled the same at year 20 as it did on day 1. 😳 Wow 6.5/10 May one day replace the mini I sold.

Clearly some people are reviewing this because they think it's the 2022 version or the EDP. Some reviews are so off indicating its "oud heavy" and a "great winter scent." WTF are people too lazy to at least make sure they are reviewing the right scent?

Kenzo pour Homme by Kenzo was my first proper fragrance — and even after years of exploring new scents, it still holds a unique place in my collection and in my memory. The opening is unmistakable: a bracing burst of seawater and marine notes, freshened with bergamot and the herbal-green sharpness of pine and sage. It immediately evokes a sense of clean, windswept air — like standing near a rocky coast with sea spray in the breeze. There’s something raw and elemental in the way it begins, but never harsh. As it evolves, the heart reveals an elegant interplay of carnation, nutmeg, and a whisper of jasmine, giving the fragrance a slightly spicy, aromatic depth. It’s still airy, but with more shape — like the scent of driftwood drying in the sun, touched by a light floral breeze. The dry-down is where it really stays with me. The base is built on smooth, masculine cedar, vetiver, and oakmoss, with a warm amber and soft musk finish. It never turns heavy or cloying; instead, it settles into something serene, woodsy, and clean — like a memory that refuses to fade. There’s a quiet confidence in Kenzo pour Homme. It doesn’t need to be loud to be noticed. It’s fluid, natural, and timeless. Sentiment aside, it’s genuinely well-composed and beautifully balanced. But for me, it will always be more than just a scent — it’s the start of a journey.

Most likely, this is exactly what I tested. The lightness is evidently oud-based, which defines its originality, as it’s some kind of flagship. It’s like a nuit built on oud, but not wood — maybe in a way. The most light oud scent. But there’s more oud here than in Oud Wood. It’s like ombré leather, based not on leather or fresh plywood like Oud Wood, but on a palatable dose of oud. Resin surrounded by delicious air. Successful, successful just like ombré. Maybe I sniffed this somewhere; it’s like a base for oud distortions.

The all time best summer fragrance

Just got a mid to late 1990s bottle of this (the original 1st bottle style but the blue textured box). Initial impressions is this is a contender for best freshie i have ever smelled, no joke. This fragrance vividly makes me think of hiking on a mountain and inhaling/exhaling cold fresh air. In fact the fresh notes in this fragrance are arranged and blended in a way that i really dont think ive ever smelled before, and ive smelled alot. Its like a...strangely "deep" freshness, i dont think theres actual oakmoss absolute in this or many other naturals but probably evernyl or something like that giving it top to bottom depth. The fragrance doesnt necessarily smell natural almost at all, but it doesnt smell bad/cheap/strange whatsoever. I may come back to comment on performance but it seems to last a long time longevity wise, never becomes super projecting or beastmode w/e. Im so glad i picked this up because its getting harder to find and people say the newer bottles arent that great. P.s. in the farther drydown this smells just like a pinecone almost, with the woods and everything

One of the greatest perfumes ever crafted. A lost art, tragically absent in today’s market 10/10

It was easy to find this discontinued fragrance for peanuts in the 2020 Covid first year sell offs online. I'm just taking stock of the all the jewels I acquired that year in a very active and volatile grey market before online shops got their supply chains more standardised and their surge pricing tech more streamlined. Kenzo has updated and modernised its fragrances with great success but are the new ones really better? They have the advantage of being designed for the molecules that are available now. Whereas fragrances such as this Kenzo were created before the culling of the molecules they were designed upon. Anyhow, I found the new bottles of old Kenzos still sold in the late 2010's and then 2020 to be in pretty good shape. This OG fragrance is creative, artistic, and unusual. Super synth but hyperreal. Kenzo pour Homme (1991) exemplifies the hyperreal sensuality Baudrillard theorizes in The Transparency of Evil (1990) (La transparence du mal) — a synthetic composition that stages ‘nature’ as an emotional event, detached from the physical world, achieving an artificial purity more ‘real’ than the messy realities it simulates. Kenzo's hyper-freshness is a "surface event", pleasurable, possibly depthless. So it was very contemporary when conceived and it maintains that feeling even now, decades later. I bought it for probably 20 bucks, a good deal. Got the OG EDP around the same time, too. Kenzō Takada died when I was discovering my new bottle.

It is NOT discontinued. It's in a new bamboo style bottle like the Intense version.

Very pleasant woody gentleman smell with a scent note of floral darkness. Yes you stand out - not a typical mainstream smell. Not cloned yet ( as far as I'm aware) I owned 2 bottles so far and yes, it draws compliments. Performance: 7-10 hours Sillage: Arms length For whom: Gentlemen >30 My background: I only write reviews about scents I have worn already (until the bottle is finished or given away) or are in current use. I'm a Gentlemen - middle aged - predominantly in an executive office environment wearing suits and representing with many official gatherings.

I was lucky enough, a couple of years ago, to go to my local wholesale miscellaneous store in my home town, the owner has been there for more than 30 years, he has a very big retail perfume and cologne department in that store and he is an old school Dominican old guy that always gives you a discount on anything if you pay cash, 🤣, really cool guy, but getting to the main thing, he has boxes on shelves and some old stock that he apparently doesn’t know he has and specific colognes that may be discontinued. So when I saw and ORIGINAL BATCH 1991 first edition bottle 1.7oz with a price tag (old like it was placed in the 90s), that said 28$, I went over there and acting like I didn’t new what it was he said, give me 26$, 🙌🏼 and took this baby home. When I was a kid in my teens and I smelled this, it was love at first smell, it is oceanic but the green piney fresh flowery and marine smell it produces is a work of art and a Time Machine for my nostalgic memories. This is one I put on when I just want to remember those good old days that bring joy to all of us and are connected to this divine scents.

It was a masterpiece 10/10.
