Having a clear out, few old designer bags to go, checking empty and came across my old bottle of this. It is exactly how I remember it, deep, heavy blackberry for about 20 mins then settles into patchouli and sandalwood. The sandalwood is a bit sour, sharper, less rounded but could be due to being left in old leather bag for 20 years. The chrome teardrop bottle is beautiful if a bit tarnished now. I loved this 20 years ago but strangely I never had a single compliment about this perfume and it ended up on the back row...well actually forgotten in a bag.

Fruity, sugary wood. I love it! Somehow for me an improvement on Angel edp by Mugler from 1992. The patchouli is less dominant. And I love green apple top notes in perfumes, they make the perfume somehow neon / electric. Another great unusual legendary perfume with a green apple top note is Herve Leger edp in the curvy bottle with violet liquid, also discontinued and rare / expensive these days...I want to guess that Silver Rain edp by La Prairie must have been a hard balancing act for Claude Dir the perfumer to get right. And I also love the bottle and packaging, and have and love the very first perfumes by La Prairie, "One Perfect Rose" by Guy Robert and Georgette Mosbacher for La Prairie from 1990 and then the eponymous "La Prairie" fragrance with a beautiful almost sweaty sultry osmanthus note from 1993. I think what I perceived as fresh / aquatic when I first smelt this around 2004 shocked me after the floral richness of the La Prairie edp from 1993. It took me years to love it. Such a great perfume brand, the Life Threads interested me too. Wonder what might come next...

I bought it many years ago in Switzerland and I loved it. I still remember its exquisite and intoxicating aroma. I never saw it again and I know that it was discontinued. Although I have many other perfumes, I would always like to find one that is very similar to this one! If you have any that is similar, I would like to know.

Rain-kissed blackberry shrubs with ripe fruits and green leaves. This is really a blackberry scent, sweet and juicy, but noticeable tarter than other berries. The freshness is amped up by the verbena, bergamot and coriander, they build an accord that smells green, leafy and a little herbal. But there is more to this scent than just berries and leaves. The base is vanillic, musky and sweet. Patchouli is quite prominent, too. I also smell the ripe plum, which makes the fruitiness a little sweeter and richer. Despite sugar being a listed note, this doesn't come off as pronouncedly sugary to me. It's essentially a sweet fruitchouli, sure, but to my nose this sweetness just smells like ripe fruit and not like sugar or syrup. This has the same musky, dewy, humid, fruity vibe that Midnight Rain has. They are different and couldn't be confused for one another, but it totally makes sense that they're from the same line. I find both extremely beautiful, but as they have been discontinued for a while and go for insane prices on the second hand market, I'm fine with just owning Midnight Rain.

My poison is sweet and fruity perfumes, but for some reason this is just too sweet and too fruity. Do not know what it is ... Like it is lacking some kind of edge to the cloying sweet....? Well, I sent it of to a new home. Bye sweety

Opening was a disappointment as I strongly avoid fruity flowers, it was a sweet berry blast, I also got tropical notes (guava and lychee) but it dries down into a creamy sweet-sour balsamic note after half an hour which I found different and lovable. Surprisingly I will keep it. But I must say there is nothing going on about rain, or after rain dewy earth smell at all.

I love this. To me, it does indeed give a smell of rain. I can't remember smelling any other fragrance that gives me that same feeling. It's clean, elegant and I would also say sexy. I get tons of compliments when wearing this. FANTASTIC during cold temperatures!

Silver Rain is lovely and unisex. It's sweet, but not cloying. It's a well-balanced fragrance that matches sweet notes and some fruit with green, herbal notes. Silver Rain is a fresh, unisex fragrance that manages to be both sweet and elegant. Sadly, it's discontinued and there isn't anything really similar. FYI: This smells nothing like La Vie Est Belle.

Анонім

I'm sorry, but given that this is now discontinued and expensive... this is way too similiar to lancoms la vie est belle to spend any time paying or searching for. its not the same but gives off exactly the same vibe (and scream) in my opinion. it does NOT smell like nice clean face cream like for some reason i expected. its a fruit bomb and doesnt really fit its name or bottle imho. after i blind bought this, i decided to keep my half full bottle of lveb instead and resell the silver rain edp. dont get me wrong, i love la vie est belle, but its my most mall scenty teenager overly sweet candy sour perfume that i keep simply because i do love the smell and staying power is better than any other perfume, but i dont need more like it. if you love la vie est belle and want similar things, it might be worth seeking out a decant if you can first. as well if youve never tried LVEB then you should try that first!

Silver Rain is the perfume equivalent of a day at a high-end spa. It is luxurious and deeply enjoyable. It will pamper you and ask nothing of you (apart from your money). I once had a full bottle of Silver Rain, which I got for a song since it was leaking - quite befitting the name ;-). Now I have a tiny decant left. Might repurchase one day, when I have used up some of my other loves.

Eden Perfumes (Brighton, England) produce an exquisite version of this at very affordable prices (£15.00 for a 30ml bottle).

Absolutely beautiful fruity floral. The apple comes through on a beautiful blend of woods, mosses, sugar and more. On me this smells clean and fresh - I love wearing this in summer. It's sparkly and refreshing and the bottle is gorgeous - has a great "feel". This fragrance is sure to please a very wide range of fragrance lovers. It's perfectly balanced and well blended. No, it's not an innovative scent with tricks and surprises - it is simply a pretty and well made fragrance. It's a safe gift for someone you love, and often gets compliments when I wear it. My husband doesn't like a lot of my fragrances, but this he loves. It opens with a strong fruit vibe, but dries down to a beautiful combination of fruit, flowers, soft smooth woody notes, and a glorious soft combination of vanilla and tonka. Good projection and longevity. One of my favourites - complex yet feminine and clean - never overwhelms. This fragrance is a staple in my fragrance wardrobe. I can't imagine not being able to reach for it.

Silver rain is my newest purchase. & boy am I glad to have it in my collection. It's just what I was looking for, It's sweet, sour & fizzy all at the same time. Up on first spray I smell: Sugar, green apple, plum, blackberry. Followed by anise, patchouli, oud & tonka bean, the last 4 notes I mentioned are what make it smell aromatic & masculine ;) It hypnotises you, draws you close & you just won't get enough of it!!! Sillage is good for about 3 hours, lingering continuously. Longevity: 4 sprays, 8 hours.

Анонім

Even though it's very sweet and fruity, it smells indeed like rain! Very special and different, NOT similar to the disturbingly sweet fragrances like LVEB. A must try.

Анонім

Expensive but oh so sparkly! Somehow it smells like falling rain sounds. Words like twinkling and shimmer come to mind, but I can pick out heliotrope and blackberries. Soft woods sugar and plum notes stand out to me. The bottle is wonderful, this was a present from a lover but I think many women would really enjoy this. Safe bet as a gift. Scent 10/10 great longevity bottle 10/10

Soldi ben spesi. Profumo 9,5/10 Sillage 10/10 Longevità10/10

Oh my goodness, this perfume is amazing. I've been wearing this for years and I get so many compliments from men and women. Seems like not too many people know about this fragrance so I feel like it's my secret weapon. I get a good mix of sweet floral with patchouli giving this a very elegant and romantic feel. This perfume lasts and lasts. It's a little on the heavy side so I save this for winter and a fancy night out.

This is one of my must have perfumes. However, I came to the conclusion that people are really strongly divided by this scent. Some people only smell something commercial and weak. Others think it smells elegant, well-rounded. One of my friends told me she thought this scent was on a whole different level, and this is pretty much the reaction I get from men too. I got this perfume from my family almost three years ago for Christmas and wear it often (now on my second bottle) and my brother still says that this is the best women's scent. I find the top notes a bit weak but then, but then... I get 12+ plus hours of something grown-up, elegant, beautifully built, cozy. I walk differently when I wear this because it makes me feel exceptionally good.

[Review originally posted on MakeupAlley in 2005]: Excuses for the bluntness and lack of content in this review, but after the La Prairie Original Eau de Parfum this is a HUGE disappointment, devastating... So much hype and a high price for something standard, innocuous, ordinary, and even unpleasant. La Prairie: why did you discontinue your misstresspiece and replace it with this?! A conundrum.

Анонім

Very disappointing. I had this on some tissues (to make scented Kleenex) and upon sniffage it smelled good but so WEAK. I put ALOT on too. Notes are mostly PEACH with a bit of violet(?) or something. But weak, weak, weak for the massive price. ...Peace...

I get this lovely smell of rain!!! wet soil in a good sense Crushed flowers raindrops and a hint of mint or is it verbena?? My ultimate autumn fragrance!! Praying for a rainfall as an excuse to wear this luxurious creation!!! Silver rain IMO hates direct sunlight!!! Give it humidity and a comfy raincoat And you have yourself a miracle!!! As for the bottle what is to be said? Artistic yet "la prairie" classy!!!! If you're having difficulty opening the bottle just give it a gentle twist!!! Thanks G.

Deliciously fresh and light, this scent is uplifting, delicate, modern and feminine. It is expensive, but lasts extremely well. The packaging is beautiful too. I would compare this with YSL Paris in terms of being easy to wear, can go from day to night effortlessly, and has an expensive classic fragrance.

Анонім

It smells of much mango and some heavy cosmetics. Not really my cup of tea and pointless. This one is nothing in comparison to Prairie's Life Threads line. **

Sweet with sourness. Blackberries, patchouli, sugar, vanilla... I thought that I would like it, but I didn't.

I hate leaving bad reviews because noses and tastes are bound to differ, but that this definitely isn't the way I pictured this smelling. Quite masculine to my nose at first spray (must be the combination of oud and patchouli) and I don't think it will get any better. Thankfully I just sprayed it on a blotter and not on my skin. This is not my taste or style at all and I was hoping it would be. I think it should be labelled as balsamic first, not fruity or sweet as I don't get any of that in the opening. A real dud (for me)...

This is a perfume for The Modern Lady! Incredibly sophisticated, rich, carefully made, sweet, classic and timeless! Reminds me the same classic vibes we can feel in Chanel creations. For The Lady with a secret, with her secret desires. The opening on me is juicy and fresh, a realistic berry and fruit mixture. First rain drops in a deep wood where the wild and forbidden fruits can be found. Then that freshness becomes softer, and I feel the flowers (especially the mild rose, the shy jasmine and the wild magnolia) with raindrops on their petals. A secret garden deep in the forest. And the base- a reserved sensuality, a glance, her fingers touching her hair, the rain "slowly walking outside" and waiting for her. Dark wood, moonlight, rain, gentle rain sounds, scents of the humid earth, trees and flowers. And there's something (or somebody) in that velvety darkness, so desired, so sensual, so exciting... Drives me crazy and wakes up my sensuality. My next purchase for sure!

As with my previous review of a fragrance from this brand - Life Threads Gold - this is somehow universal. Universal in the sense that it doesn't have its own face or a spine for that matter. Silver rain would not be that bad, don't get me wrong - it's a sweetish fruity floral that is actually quite pleasant. I actually enjoy breathing it in those (reasonably) long hours it lasts in the same way I enjoy breathing in the wafts of a cheap, generic fruity body lotion. So - yeah, it wouldn't be that bad if it were branded as such (an optimistic fruity sweetish body lotion that this fragrance really evokes - to me anyway), I would be writing raving review. As it is, Silver rain is incredibly overpriced "celebrity-style" fragrance without a trace of personality. I simply can't remember what it smells like a few hours after it disappeared and I would definitely not recognize it should I come across someone wearing it.Yeah, generic is the right word to summarize this over-hyped, overpriced product that belongs right into the middle of the endless line of "modern" celebrity "creations".

It' not just another sweet scent. The oud notes gives it a darker undertone. I think it's not that sweet and easy-going as Midnight Rain. But, it's still sweet, alright. :) I sense it as balsamic, fruity, full of vanilla and sugary notes. It's definitely lovely and interesting warm scent. I was glad to try it. Nice!

My favorite for now.
