Lalique Le Parfum

This is a delicate, warm, soft and shear veil of golden hue if one would want to visualise it so, as all Lalique's fragrances in my opinion, this is not a groundbreaking fragrance and it's not necessarily a crowd-pleasing one either, but it definitely is an example of a classic, well executed perfumery. The cake-y vanilla is the dominant note in it, but it has this almost herbaceous depth - slightly woody and not necessarily spicy - I guess "aromatic" is the adjective that would normally be used to describe this effect. And so, as a vanilla-tonka aromatic fragrance, it could be a less impactful sister of Le Male by JPG. A pleasant 8/10 (mainly because I looove the bottle).

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ At first, I immediately thought of the discontinued Chloé Love. Not because they smell the same, but because they share the same luminous, comforting aura. They both have a softness that feels almost weightless. The opening is elegant rather than loud. I get a gentle spicy freshness that keeps the vanilla from becoming overly sweet. As it settles, the fragrance slowly reveals a beautiful, creamy vanilla with a delicate floral touch. On my skin, the jasmine becomes more noticeable over time, taking it in a different direction than Chloé Love, but in a way that feels incredibly refined. What struck me the most wasn't the vanilla—it was the feeling. This fragrance feels almost angelic. Innocent, untouched, as if it hasn't yet been hurt by the world. There's no darkness, no seduction, no need to demand attention. It simply radiates warmth, purity, and quiet beauty. The projection doesn't seem huge on my skin, but somehow that suits its personality perfectly. It feels intimate, like something meant to be discovered rather than announced. Chloé Love will probably always remain my greatest love, but Lalique Le Parfum awakened a very similar emotion in me. It isn't a replacement—it has its own identity—but it gave me that same feeling of serenity and light that very few perfumes ever have. ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

It's a beautiful scent! I can smell a light vanilla, pepper and bay. A bay is very special and significant here. It's not a bay from the kitchen, but very perfumery. It's a interesting idea with bay! The pepper is soft and comfortable to wear. Wonderful fragrance! It's suitable for every day and for the nights out. The sillage and longevity is moderate, I have to reapply it during the day though. It's very feminine for me, not unisex. For business lady. It's wonderful in every season of the year. I wear it with pleasure!

Stunning. A medicinal bite from bay leaf+pepper, coupled with a powdery facet (heliotrope+almond) that keeps the deep vanilla base in beautiful, tranquil territory. So soothing and luscious. It's usually a quiet fall/winter perfume for me, but this is actually amazing in heat too. A massive love.

after having read an inspiring article about this perfume, (the bottle & perfume) are like a Gem, I immediately bought the (very cheap) 1.7oz50mL Edp Spray. whereas Dominique Ropion is also my favorite perfumer and in 2005 I knew of the perfume, even remember where I saw it. then I had already experienced Lalique Le Baiser 1999, and did buy the Edp and even, the perfume. that was also a heavenly perfume. but now to have this wonderful perfume so exquisitely described I knew I would directly love it. and I do. at first I didn't smelled the Bay Leaf and now this morning, I do. I have discovered that some notes you mysteriously suddenly smell when you turn your pulse (almost) 180 degrees, and then yet 90 degrees is also good. what that for manoeuver is, I don't know but it has helped me several times. the Bay Leaf adds a bitterish note to the further with Pink Pepper and Bergamot spiked and freshened opening of the perfume. unfortunately I rarely smell Citrus Fruits. I have smelled Bergamot, sparsely, in other perfumes. (notably from Creed.) the Pink Pepper I do smell. but also almost immediately one smells a delicious Vanilla scent. where it is in the basenotes it surely is already soon present. but before all the Avalanches of Vanilla Gourmand perfumes here the Vanilla takes its botanical, vegetal role with the succinctly sweet and specific Orchideic aspect up and swathes it around. ("Vanilla comes from the Vanilla planifolia, a type of climbing vine that is part of the orchid family (Orchidaceae)".) the perfume is a swelthering Powder Bomb but I precisely love those perfumes. Heliotrope, Jasmine, the Almond aspect plus Tonka, Sandelwood and Patchouli give this ultrafeminine perfume a delicate complexity where it also is just this lovely feminine Vanilla Perfume before that became a Trademarked Supervanilla Gourmand note, which I do not love. when a perfume smells like food, then thank you very much. I had to laugh once about a comment: "As long as I don't smell like Last Night's Turkey-Dinner ...". and that sums the Gourmand Category up for me. yet in 2005 Lalique just struck the chord with Lalique Le Parfum. undeniably chic and just 'Vanilliairy Soft'. stupendously charming and soothing. notwithstanding a truly Fantastic Perfume.

I tried and loved Encre Noire and Amethyst by Lalique, and I was curious to explore further. This was my third scent from the brand, and by far the most traditional and elegant. To me, this is the epitome of timeless chic. The notes are balanced so well that you can’t immediately distinguish them. I’m by no means an expert, but I do feel that older, more classic perfumes often have less separation between the notes. If I smell it in passing, I don’t immediately think of individual notes. But if I take my time, I can pick out bay leaves, almond, vanilla/tonka, and patchouli. I don’t wear this often, but I enjoy having it in my collection. This is a very confident femininity, style over trends. Classic deep red lipstick. Pearl earrings. Natural fabrics. Some say “grandma,” but I say “a woman.”

Wore this religiously during the fall and spring about 10 years ago (give or take). Reading through the reviews and not at all surprised as to how many people still are attracted to this scent.. makes me very happy, indeed! It is a mysterious vanilla, exotic, glamorous but not overdone. The scene in my mind when I think of how this smells is like a beautiful woman with long dark hair effortlessly walks along cobblestone in high heels and a long sleeve maxi dress. It reminds me of Izmir, or of Tel Aviv, it is both foreign but endearing. Tempered by the almond without being cloying and with a gorgeous dry down. The patchouli adds an earthiness at this point and it becomes quite a 'cool' vanilla. Bay leaf at the top can be challenging for some but I found the opening to be more aromatic and effervescent. It settles into the skin after an hour and can only be detected through direct skin-to-nose contact. It can work both day and night, particularly when the days begin to dwindle or as the days begin to grow. I would avoid during the dead-heat of the summer. Can absolutely work during the winter, although admittedly I do lean towards more smokey floral frags at that time of the year. Who knows, maybe things have changed and LLP becomes my go-to instead! Will be picking up another bottle. Very fair price point and what a beauty without breaking the bank.

The bottle I have is quite old, perhaps making the bay leaf a bit stronger. I think it's overall lovely and romantic. But the bay leaf also kind of gives spa day with grandma, or hugging your mom.

This one is sweet but make it classy. Vanilla-heavy with a spicy twist, super cozy and kinda luxe. Definitely giving soft rich vibes.

It was a blind buy, and mostly because of D.Ropion. I think this perfume is suitable for my 70y old dad. It does not smells good on me and definitely it smells like an after shave that my granda would use.

When I read "bay leaf" followed by "pink pepper" I thought - uh oh, what's for dinner tonight? But turns out my spice concerns were misplaced because the addition of these opening notes to the overall composition makes for an utterly enchanting and sophisticated scent. I get a lot of vanilla in this but not before the expert addition of heliotrope, almond and jasmine make an appearance, providing an almost gourmand accord. However, this scent sweeps right past any food associations and instead stands on its own as a grown up and beautifully blended perfume. I have more than one by Lalique and this stands far out in front. Recommend.

This is one of the most beautiful perfumes and unbelievably reasonably priced! It was four times the amount would purchase it I absolutely adore it.

VERY green/herbal/aromatic at the top. I enjoy this as it's unique from any other fragrance I own, but it's a bit harsh in the opening. May need to let this one sit for a bit.

Mommy blind bought this for my birthday as a gift, and let me say it’s not safe for a blind buy because boy is it strong and spicy but the longevity isn’t as strong, it’s very grown on me even tho I love powdery fragrance this was too much…. this could have potential in colder weather.

Lalique is known for its beautifully designed bottles, and I’ve always admired the brand’s packaging. This perfume is very warm, sweet, and powdery. At first, you notice a spicy kick of pepper, then the sharpness of jasmine comes through, and from start to finish, vanilla stays present alongside the other notes. I’m not sure if it’s because of the Indian bay leaf, but it also gives me a sweet tea vibe. It can be described as slightly powdery as well. Overall, its gourmand style isn’t edible — it’s a mature gourmand. I really do believe that in later formulations the BayLeaf was toned down a bit bc Ive smelled this on some folks im the past and that Bay Leaf note was super strong and made this smell quite a bit more "Mature" and ya could just tell that it was, well... 🍃!BAYLEAF!🍃, lol! My newer bottle still has the BayLeaf but its not nearly as prominent or distinguishable and doesn't necessarily come accross as "BayLeaf", it just smells like something herbal/aromatic and ts just enough to cut through the sweet, almost bright Vanilla and also helps Lalique Le Parfume smell more "Unisex." Le Parfum is one of those very rare cases where atleast IMO, the reformulation has actually IMPROVED and modernized the DNA/Scent profile, especially since the fragrance does seem to retain its potency! As a man when Id first tried this I thought maybe it smelled too Feminine, but after wearing it out and about and for work, its actually pretty genderless especially for today's pallette. Also a little bit goes a very long way! Im a bit of an Over-Sprayer, but with Le Parfum I only need 2 spritzes on my neck and 2 on my shirt and I can smell it on myself for nearly 12 hours with good projection for around 4 hours! This is probably my favorite Vanilla forward fragrance bc its not a "Gourmand Vanilla" Its really bright and almost "effervescent". Its really GORGEOUS and truley smells like it costs so much more than the 40-ish bucks it goes for at discounters. A 10 outta 10 Non-Gourmand Vanilla for sure! And the compliments are a daily thing Iemme tell ya'll! I choose a "Fragrance of the week" for work, today makes my 3rd straight day wearing it to work and Ive recieved complimemts each day Ive worn it. I even asked one of my co-workers who'd complimented me if she thought it was a Feminine scent and she said "I don't know, I dont think so?" So fellas, if ya like your Vanilla scents, don't be Scurred & Confised! Give this intoxicating scent a try! I’m overwhelmed with the medicinal notes, this one is really not for me. I generally don’t enjoy powdery perfumes, so this is just not my style.

I am always on a hunt for an unusual vanilla perfume, and I am sick of sweet gourmands, or just mega feminine vanillas, as most of the time I am in the mood for something unique and/or unisex. After I read the reviews below I blind bought Lalique as I was intrigued to try that fresh vanilla, especially with bay too, as I do not think I have any perfumes with bay note in my collection. It arrived today. I am not disappointed! It’s quite interesting and fresh, there is something very nostalgic about it, although I find most of Ropion’s creations nostalgic in romantic kind of way. This is no exception and I can’t wait for it to macerate, as I think it will be even better then. Also will try layering it with Nissaba’s Grande Ile, as I think the spices will work well together.

Impressive! I love scents where I don't smell like anyone/everyone else. You need to give this one some time, and i additionally say the notes may provoke a different aroma for everyone. The opening is incredibly off-putting and absolutely no need to overspray this.. The dry down buys me; I smell the spice and vanilla. This is for a well, put-together kind of woman. What a great price for something so unique. Proud to have this in my collection.

I just received my Lalique le parfum!..... I've been so intrigued by this perfume, and you describe it well: classy and niche, not foodie. On what occasion do you wear it most? Noticed many people hate it on Fragrantica. Hmmm, I can see it being overwhelming or headache-inducing if oversprayed. Otherwise, it is perfect. Far from being a grampa's after shave, as someone mentioned here. I sprayed a few times on my wrists, and from a close distance, my son caught the scent, but he said it was soft. When he smells close to my skin, he says, "Now it is pretty strong." lol

Love the oriental genre of fragrance, and this one is no exception! This is a wonderfully crafted aromatic/herbaceous vanilla. The bay leaf note sticks around throughout the wear for me but is noticeably stronger in the first couple hours. Throughout the day the herbaceous nature subsides a bit and lends way to a sweeter profile where I pick up the almond and jasmine notes. LLP is a put-together more mature vanilla variant for sure. You won't find any of the heavy cloying "cupcake-y" nature here that plagues a lot of vanilla-forward fragrances these days. To each their own, of course, but I am happier for it. Absolutely cannot beat the price on this one. I picked it up for ~$31 on FragranceNet and have zero regrets! I've also worn it for the last 3 days and don't have any complaints on performance. LLP is still noticeable on me as I write this, and I applied it 7 hours ago.

I was very intrigued by this aromatic vanilla twist, but the more I looked at the bottle, the more it reminded me of....Mr Tumnus! So now that's what I call it, and my daughters have started calling it that too 😂 I love it, and it sort of fits... An unusual, inviting, warm presence, a cozy cave in the snowy woods. Tea and pastries by a lovely fire...

I coveted this one for a while and found it for a great price, so I finally caved. I am a sucker for pepper, vanilla, sandalwood, bay leaf, and Dominique Ropion, so it's not a wonder that I love this. But here's the surprise: I once fell in love with Tiffany & Co perfume on using a sample and bought a full bottle. Unfortunately, I ended up finding it too sharp and musky to wear, even though I loved the "heart" of it. Lalique, I find, has something similar at it's core, even though its formulation is totally different. This puts me right in mind of Tiffany, but it's softer and mellower and more mature. No regrets!

A note about performance for those of you who are wondering - it felt very weak and short lived when I first purchased it, but after a few years of masceration, it performs much better now; it projects much more and lasts for most of the day on skin. This would be a great fragrance and easy blind buy if you like the Hypnotic Poison DNA but want something a bit more complex and grown up.

This is Masterpiece. Totally in Love. Deep mature vanilla and many other things....
