Venezia from 1992 was my very first perfume and I wore it for years. I haven't smelled it for decades and I read that LB Forever gold is similar so of course I had to buy it and, yes, it has the same vibe and DNA, the first whiff brought me right back to 1996, but, unfortunately it is sooooo weak, when I sniff my wrist it's not there, but then when I least expect it it hits me, just for a second, just to taunt me, and I hate it! I just came here to cry and beg Laura Biagiotti to bring my beloved Venezia back... Nothing can fill this Venezia shaped hole in my heart 😭😭😭
This is how I envision the merchants of Venice—wearing thick burgundy velvet, carrying exotic dry fruits, oils and spices, resins and incense: the very scent of Silk Road opulence. This perfume is a true masterpiece, pure poetry.
Venezia by Laura Biagiotti is one of my favorite perfumes. It reminds me of nights of the Swedish midnight sun on a cool June summer evening, sitting on my Swedish uncle's island in the Baltic Sea. I loved watching him prepare his smoking pipe with sweet aromatic tobacco. He would begin to puff, and then spicy, sweet smoke wafted and filled the air. I haven't found any other perfume that conjures up these magical memories like Venezia has done for me. No tobacco note is in this scent, yet the combination of all the notes is reminiscent of my uncle's tobacco pipe.
To everyone wishing this back like I used to, LB Forever Gold is very close to the original Venezia. It's a bit softer and less complex, but still satisfies my craving for the masterpiece that Venezia was.
Laura Biagotti s Roma smells like Obsession ... Is Venecia like Eternity???
I miss Venezia sooo much!😢 Please bring it back! Gorgeous perfume.❤️
Unique, sultry with lots of layers. Miss it!
I have the 2011 version of Venezia. I also had the original as a mini in the 1990's, which I loved back then and used every drop of. One thing about Venezia is its multidimensionality. Venezia is mysterious, rich, full of layers and secrets, like the city its name refers to. When I smelled the newer version, I instantly recognized it as Venezia. I can't do side by side comparison, but they are very similar. What I can do, is to compare the 2011 Venezia with Laura Biagiotti Forever Gold, which is said to be almost the reincarnation of the original Venezia. Forever Gold is a good substitute! And it has similarities, but it's NOT the same scent as Venezia. And out of the two, Venezia 2011 is closer to the original in my opinion.
I have the newer edp and the vintage edt. I can’t tell them apart. The edp might be a tad more tart but barely noticeable at all. My mom wore this when I was a child in the 90’s and I first bought the current version and it took me back as soon as I smelled it, my sister too. So I don’t know what people are talking about when they say the new stuff is nothing like the old. Not every reformulation strays from the original if they are aiming for the same thing during reformulation.
I discovered this in the mid '90's at Neiman Marcus in Chicago during an annual trip my mom, my sister, and I used to take. Felicia is a legend, and not only did she always help me find the latest in Stendhal cosmetics and skin care, she knew me well enough to know what I liked. She sprayed it on a tester, and gave me a very generous sample, and I was completely hooked. I bought not just the 3.7 ounce, but the gift set with all of the goodies to layer and indulge in. I always received so many compliments when I wore it. It was my perfect Fall and Winter fragrance and my great aunts, who came here from Italy and Sicily liked it quite well, so for Christmas one year, I got them each the discovery sets. When Felicia told me they were going to discontinue the line, I bought as many bottles as I could. I still have a couple in my old milk chute where it is cool, dark, and dry. They are hermetically sealed in there so I won't ever run out. The crazy thing is, I am now 61, and my collection will now outlive me. I will, however, be able to enjoy this lovely fragrance for the rest of my life. Life is for pleasure and joy, and that is what I get when I use my treasures, be they fragrance, or cosmetics. I still have a stash of my favorites from Stendhal as well. Felicia was such a gem, and I miss her so much. My mom and sister are gone now, so I don't get to go on my annual trip to Chicago anymore, and my husband doesn't want to travel because he would have to get off the couch and put his phone down, so I bust out my treasures and enjoy my memories, and this fragrance brings me back to some of the loveliest times. If you can get the original fragrance, do it. If you like exotic fragrances, and your body chemistry blends with this, indulge yourself. It's lovely.
Why they dont produce it anymore! They should!
The reformulated version--SUCKS!! I hate this company for ripping me off and I have the big bottle. When I smelled this, I almost cried because it is nothing like the original. Give me 1992 PLEASE!!! There's NOTHING like it. Smokey cherry (black currant) mango floral liquor! I do not drink but smelling like liquor is MY signature.
Was my clubbing perfume in the ninetees , never smelled it again. Sometimes I smell something similar, a whiff, what takes me down to memory lane. Would not wear it today anymore, what I remember, it was a really complex scent and not subtle at all. But recognizable! Really unique.
Venezia by Laura Biagiotti emblematic fragrance, now very rare, created in the 90s. Triumphant olfactory pyramid, with an exotic fruity opening, in a magical accord with variegated floral notes that make it incredibly graceful, feminine, sensual. At the dry down all the base notes emerge: amber, animalic, enveloping, sweet, woody, reassuring, talc. A very rich, complete blend. A very rare pity to find, I keep a vintage bottle like a very precious simulacrum.
Добър парфюм, на добра цена. Издържа доста.
I finally got a vintage!!! Still awaiting its arrival. Let’s pray it isn’t tainted by poor storage over the years. I’ve been wanting one of the old bottles for YEARS. This, to me, is a fairy tale fragrance. A real, old fashioned type of fairy tale. I am not talking about modern fairy tales or Disney. I am talking about the real old ones… the ones that aren’t always so nice. The ones with spells, witches, leprechauns, and trolls under bridges. In fact, I feel a sense of rip van winkle while wearing it. Or the old story of the Pied Piper. Or the princess and the pea. It’s ancient cobblestone streets, and magic spells, clothes hanging across streets on clotheslines, the smell of family feasts coming from windows… twilight… There is depth and mystery lurking in this perfume. I adore it. This is among my top favorite perfumes ever. One way to describe it simply is to say it smells like the filling of cherry pie. Tart, rich, with medieval spices thrown in. There’s also a sense of wine, as well as tabacco. A bit of wood. But most apparent is the tart plummy fruit which comes across as cherry. I dislike cherry, usually, but this isn’t a flat sweet cherry or cough syrup. This is a TART, sweet, cooked cherry. Sort of like cherry preserves. It’s not a modern day gourmand. It’s deeper and more complex than that. I would never feel this is dated (Ive owned a very good dupe oil for many years, and I also have the new formulation, 2011). Some may think so, but to me this is as bright and fresh and “new” … full of promises of an exciting and romantic life… as it was to me in a magazine in 1992, when I was a wee 18 year old. Its very “me”, I feel, and it does in fact remind me of being in Venice. I was there twice, in the 90s. I truly get how that ancient place was an inspiration for this perfume. It’s just perfect. Can’t wait for my bottle! Update: Got it. It’s gorgeous. Especially once it dries down all the way and is settled for about 30 minutes. This is deeper and more complex than the new version. And it certainly has far better staying power as well as projection. Far superior. I couldn’t be happier. Big love!!! Smelled my clothes the next day and they smelled like spicy cherry pie filling, just as I described earlier. Got a compliment when I was at the European grocery store.
An excellent, intriguing with the aroma that is bright and mellow, sunny and sweet, and one-of-a-kind. It has a lively sweet flowery aroma that swiftly fades to a dry powdery strange scent like nuts. This provides personality, attractiveness, and temperament. At first, I noticed sandalwood and plum, but it quickly faded and it got creamier and smoother. There was a creamy fruitiness, but it wasn't excessively sweet. Overall, this is a lovely, feminine, fruity-sweet perfume.
Probably my first introduction to loving a great scent and creating scent memories. This was mid 90's at it's best! I would love to be able to just get a bottle of the original formulation or find something that is so very close to this beauty!!!
Thank you, brandybasisty, for mentioning two notes that I have always smelled in my vintage edt but which are not listed above - leather and tobacco!! I love this perfume, it is complex and wonderful!
I've got the vintage version and the 2011 formulation. Both have a lovely incense plum opening, but the vintage also has an interesting Sharpie accord that slowly warms up into rich, leathery smell. Venezia transports me back in time to a 1990's fall in a cafe, surrounded by wine, rich perfume, smoke, and vintage leather jackets. After 3 hours, the 2011 has become a fruity skin scent with the signature Venezia heart intact, whereas the vintage version has become more animalic and sweet. Pure love 💜
Amaretto! Found a vintage 90s bottle in the attic. Miraculously survived It’s amaretto and something animalic. Must be the civet. It’s absolutely lovely. It’s so warm
something in it reminds me of Tresor.
It is unrealistic to expect EXACTLY same fragrance from the 90's - not only fragrances do not "transfer" like this, YOU are different. If you are looking for your 90's Venezia, you are looking for the distant memory of the fragrance and an old version of yourself. Even if you smelled the original (and probably expired) Venezia today, it wouldn't be the same because you are not the same. You cannot re-live the emotions. I finally can afford to buy ALL the vintage fragrances I wanted as a child/teenager - Un Air De Samsara, Amarige, Venezia, Dolce Vita, Dior Dune, KENZO l'eau and MANY others - and they do not impress me the way they did 20 years ago... just outdated memory of something I coveted once, long time ago, before I've smelled better stuff.
I found Venecia similar to Eternity classic and Roma similar to Obssession classic . . .
Being very popular in the 90's, Venezia is a nostalgic scent that takes me back to the town where I went to school. Back there and then, people wore a lot of perfume, either sweet and heavy scents with 3.000 different ingredients, such as Venezia, or minimalistic freshies, such as CK One. Like Biagiotti's Roma, Venezia was never a favourite of teenage-me, but I am starting to like it now. Venezia is strong, cosy, dark and sweet. It smells a little of Amaretto on my skin, even though there are no almonds shown in the notes table. Also, I get a distinct whiff of plastic, and I just checked: a few others say the same thing. This plastic is quite charming, though, like it is in Rush and Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss. It gives Venezia an unexpected twist. Sadly, plum is not my favourite note, so I might end up selling my bottle. I can only appreciate Venezia, while others really love it.
I absolutely like this perfume. I can wear it day and night if it was the only perfume I had to wear. I am sadden I was not able to find a 50 or 100 ml bottle, I had to settle for a 25 ml because it was the only one they have. I would probably wear this in the spring. It is a very lovely fragrance.
Even though Venezia is not my all-time favorite perfume, if I were forced to wear only one fragrance, continually and eternally, it might very well be my choice. It's unique and interesting enough to not become boring, yet maintains a coziness and softness that can be appreciated by most.
I finally got my hands on a tiny vintage bottle just to discover that it had turned bad 😭 This was one of my absolute favorites as a kid and I remember it as a sweet, spicy heaven. It made me feel safe and cozy and I am trying to find something similar but always ends up with another failed, soapy blindbuy. I have an old Cantate bottle that reminds me a little of it at least. Edit: I recently bought a big vintage bottle and it was another fail. It almost smells like urine on my skin :( I just can't seem to find a bottle that smells like I remember it.
My love! The first, original Venice is unforgettable. Absolutely perfect!
