Horrible. I remember liking it when I first tried it last year but I just sprayed it on and I hated it. Sweet, heavy, medicinal. Smelled middle-eastern to me, but not the good kind. Reminded me of Jagermeister, making me almost physically ill. I washed my arm twice.

Sweet, gourmand, flower scent with bunch of vanilla in its base. Sometimes shows aspects of super sweet banana.

You have to be in the mood for it, but this is a rich, full-on sweet gourmand floral scent. On the first spray, I smell vanilla fudge, lots of ylang-ylang, a little jasmine, sweet citrus and some soft rose. Later, it becomes more powdery and creamy, with soft citrus mixed with a light touch of coconut oil. Think of a luxurious summer holiday on Capri: warm skin, honey-sweet flowers, sweet citrus and a soft trace of coconut oil.

This was such a disappointing blind buy! I don't smell any of the notes listed ... NONE! I'm a huge fan of M. Micallef, but I don't know what happened here ... it has a strong chemical smell. Ugh! ... Just reading the notes, I should have loved this. Thank God, I only bought a 10 ml decant.

Naah... I had way higher hopes for this one. I was expecting something like a creamy banana custard like tropical goodness. I was going in between Bora Bora (still haven't tried it) and Ylang in Gold, and eventually, I went with this one. Some concentrated ylang-ylang essential oils can smell a little gasoline-like to my nose, this isn't like that, which is great. It's just incredibly dusty, and all I get is baby powder bomb from start to finish.

Анонім★★★★★

The sweet vanilla is absolutely overwhelming. I expected more floral notes but it was a bottle of vanilla claustrophobia. The perfume is pretty though, pink with glittery gold.

Анонім★★★★★

More vanilla-caramel and less ylang than I hoped.

Анонім★★★★★

This isn’t bad for a summary semi tropical scent. I feel like I have something along the same lines. But it’s not offensive. Definitely sample first I get a lot of of ylang ylang, some coconut, not much. It’s OK.

Анонім★★★★★

I liked the scent, but it made me nauseous—so much so that I had to wash my arm twice, and even then, the smell lingered.

It smells like freshly dried laundry but not in the fresh type of way, you know when you take it out and it's still warm and hot it's like that. It's not a fresh fragrance but it will still make you smell like you're wearing clean laundry

Анонім★★★★★

Well, this was underwhelming. It smells like Ylang Ylang essential oil, and that’s it, no caramel, no rose, no vanilla, just Ylang ylang. And I prefer the smell of the actual essential oil, as it smells more natural. This was just boring.

Анонім★★★★★

This smells fizzy and powdery to me somewhat like the more modern Chanels. Maybe like 1957. I get an almost Coca-Cola smelling fizziness and a creamy background In the drydown it smells like more of a fall perfume, I get a lot of the caramel. This doesn't seem tropical to me at all though

M. Micallef – Ylang in Gold I love this fragrance in the summer. To me, it is the embodiment of a woman — almost a goddess-like presence. The opening reveals a fresh yet softly sweet rose. It isn’t sharp or heavy; rather, it feels luminous and refined. Bergamot enhances this brightness, adding a delicate sparkle that keeps the sweetness transparent rather than dense. At the heart lies a radiant blend of ylang-ylang and jasmine, gently illuminated by a touch of orange blossom. The florals feel solar and warm, yet never overwhelming. They unfold with elegance, creating a sensation of light rather than weight. The true magic, however, happens in the drydown. Musk and vanilla melt into creamy sandalwood, forming a smooth, golden warmth that feels as if sunlight is emanating from the skin itself. There is a tactile softness — almost a glow. What fascinates me is the presence of actual gold in the composition. The skin truly seems to shimmer, enhancing the sensation of a luminous aura. On my skin, the creaminess and tenderness of the vanilla become more pronounced, while the jasmine reveals a subtle animalic nuance that adds depth and sensuality. Ylang in Gold is incredibly feminine — powerful and gentle at the same time. The blend is seamless; no single note dominates. Instead, each element supports the others in perfect harmony. It is certainly not for everyone. The composition is complex, slightly rebellious in its confidence, and unapologetically radiant. It is not childish, nor does it have any artificial “bubblegum” character — at least not on my skin. Perception is always subjective. On me, it feels like a golden aura — luminous, sensual, and unforgettable. And I truly love it.

November 2008. I went on a Contiki tour trip to London Paris and Amsterdam. Our Italian tour guide Katia showed us the best that the EU had to offer. Every time she walked by our large group we were hit with a warm, cozy, powdery vanilla sweet scent. Finally toward the end of the tour I asked her what beautiful perfume she wore and she said “Fragonard Miranda”. Later on the tour we actually visited the Fragonard house in Paris and I purchased a small gold bottle of Miranda. I used it up within a few months and when I finally returned to Paris years later I was sad to realize that it was discontinued. Thank you to this website for finding me a dupe so I could be reunited with the scent that will always remind me of my first visit to Paris!!

The bottle I bought had a deep dark purple liquid inside with the golden shimmer rendering the juice a light lavender with the golden particles . I hated hanae mori when I had it . Mine was the one with the blue butterflies on the packaging and I remember it smelling revoltingly nausea n vomit inducing I had decluttered it as soon as I realized I could not stand it. So this is thankfully not that . I can smell what people might say “reminds me of” but Ylang on Gold is so … elevated and sophisticated It layers remarkably well with not one , but 2 of my established favorites such as Donna born in Roma Ivory and Ella K Amber K. I can’t wait to discover more combinations since this one is soft yet enveloping on its own. It’s gentle yet has presence. If I can think of the way it smells to me it would be a thick, creamy, pure vanilla bean ice cream with a very slight peek-a-boo touch of banana pudding. There’s a drizzle of melted caramel at the top and yeah let’s just throw a decorative Ylang flower on the top because we’re fancy like that. The woman wearing this is sitting on a beautiful beach , a white linen king size beach towel eating said dessert wearing a beautiful white bikini with a sheer see thru gold cover up . She’s enjoying the day with not a care in the world as the ice cream liquifies under the generous gleam of sunshine

It has all the notes I really love but smells of gasoline rubber and something smokey. I LOVE banana scents and yes WANT to smell like banana thank you very much this is NOT it. I can see why people associate it with Hanae Mori but Hanae is sooo much better the burst of strawberries that mellow into a clean vanilla smell yes there is a new barbie doll scent Iove that, it too mellows quickly into a clean elegant vanilla scent like an elegant princess. Hanae Mori doesn't have the banana so much that I like so much but does the job elegantly. It did give me a great idea to LAYER Hanae with sandalwood/ amber to take it from simply elegant to WTH territory with a YES PLEASE! This mess is a HARD pass. I don't smoke I'm considered a "super taster" if I could take my nose OFF to stop smelling things other people are nose blind to I would. I would call this "older woman goes in to get her Benz fixed at the garage" scent. Holy smokes lol! nooo make it stop.

Not a people pleaser for sure. I'd recommend it to ride-or-die ylang ylang fans only, otherwise there's a chance you may hate it. The note stated in the name is very prominent, and although it fades soon enough into a warm goodness, this is a distinct yellow flower type of a fragrance—rose and caramel accords don't really add too much. Little golden particles were quite a fun addition.

I’m so confused. I sprayed this expecting to be blown away - on paper I should love it. I blind bought it. I should’ve just bought vanilla flavoring and put it on me. Ick

Анонім★★★★★

Bug Spray?? The opening is pretty, very Ylang forward…the initial dry down is dryer sheets and a couple hours later a very pretty powdery creamy yellow floral. I really really like this one!

Анонім★★★★★

This smells like bubblegum flavored amoxcillan. Brings back to memories of being a 90s kid with chronic swimmer's ear.

Анонім★★★★★

Instant love. Prettiest smell ever. This is how I imagine a beautiful and kind woman to smell like. The caramel combined with ylang ylang is so addictive. I associate this with rococo painting and don’t judge me this is so unhinged but withe the scene where Bruno is ascending into haven (JOJO’s bizarre adventure).

Анонім★★★★★

The drydown is ok but can’t get over the initial burst of cheap mimosa scent. Not my favorite ylang whatsoever. The comparison to roja 51 is ludicrous….nope

Анонім★★★★★

Oof this is so good. It smells a lot like Notee Vanille with an added, creamy Ylang and almost marzipan-esque note. There's also something that's like the texture of royal icing. Either way, I adore this, and I don't usually like Ylang Ylang in fragrances - it isn't the dominant note in this (to my nose) and it's a clean-smelling Ylang note. Adore! Way better than Giardini Di Toscana's Bora Bora, which is a dirty, ylang ylang bomb.

Анонім★★★★★

Orgasmic. Absolutely spectacular. Ultra-feminine. With perfect performance. A rich blend of gorgeous vanilla with ylang ylang and orange blossom. It has many facets, be it caramel or rose and bergamot. It makes me happy. My review is for the jewelled bottle with golden dust. Maybe the bad reviews are for the new bottle as I read the notes differ? The old version in the transparent bottle with jewels and golden particles is undoubtedly constructed with: Top notes: Caramel, Rose, Bergamot Heart notes: Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Orange Blossom Base notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Musk I am making a note of it since the new bottle contains totally different ingredients and the bottle look here changed, maybe the notes will follow. The new version should have its own page per Fragrantica policy.

I don't know what the heck type of bug spray you people are using but I would love some. I've never really used bug spray in my life but in the UK it smells harsh, chemical and absolutely nothing like this. This is sweet, dreamy, creamy golden florals with a soft banana-vanilla candy floating through it. It's not in your face, it's a distant waft from your favourite holiday in the pages of your travel journal. A breeze on a shoulder in a warm September on an island where your eyes close and smile through dappled shimmering sunshine lids. I think it's a gorgeous scent. I was originally mistaken thinking it didn't last long but a good 4-5 sprays and I sense this around me and on my clothes for a decent amount of time. It survived a hot wash cycle on my tshirt. The powderiness is incredibly comforting. Straight into my top 5. I never want to be without this 🤍💛✨✨✨

Анонім★★★★★

Ylang in Gold opens with a plasticky, almost synthetic sweetness that immediately reminded me of doll heads. The promised caramel and florals never quite balance, leaving the blend feeling more artificial than elegant. While the sillage and longevity are okay, the overall effect falls flat and doesn’t justify a full bottle. This one just didn’t work for me.

Анонім★★★★★

karamel tahmin ettiğim kadar kötü çıkmadı ancak bergamotla karışınca beğenmedim.

Анонім★★★★★

I agree with one of the previous comments , I bind bought a full bottle of ylang in gold expecting this gorgeous ethereal scent that many had been gushing about , only to smell bug spray , I wish I got what others do from this but unfortunately it's been sitting on my shelf gathering dust for over a year now. I'm glad others enjoy her tho

Анонім★★★★★

For some reason, I don’t get the yummy scent everyone raves about. I only get Bug spray… I don’t know why. Glad I sampled it first.

I bought another bottle, as this is simply heavenly and still my favourite perfume after so many years. The first bottle lasted me for over 7 years (used occasionally, of course). I’m not sure if others pick up on the pineapple note, but I notice it in the dry down. It’s a sensual and glamorous scent that turns heads. I can’t imagine anyone with a bland, utilitarian sense of style being able to wear this successfully; it exudes charisma and sass. This is an essential choice for those who use perfume as a bold expression of their individuality.
