Velvet Teddy

I wanted to like it, but something in the dry down is displeasing, it reminds me of the old school cola bottle cap candies😕

@CocaColaLipGloss, many perfumes have reason to exist 10 years after introduction, including the MUCH older Rochas Femme you own and love. That tiny animalic facet of both honey and tobacco you've called attention to in MAC's Velvet Teddy is important to it's presentation. In nature it's a part of both notes, and our brains expect it to be there to smell somewhat realistic. Overall it's quite the "Teddy Bear" by comparison to what's in Femme! My purpose is not to discredit the Rochas at all, but I can't take seriously a review by someone who can handle wearing Femme, but it's Velvet Teddy that makes them so squeamish they can't even think about it, and it's Velvet Teddy that's too urinous or animalic to still be sold in 2025. I'll let the market decide. I'm guessing by the prices I see for Velvet Teddy that decision has been made! It's fine for 2026, and well beyond.

I found a half used bottle of this in my drawer. For me this only makes sense if you will be outside in the freezing cold, -20 Celsius, the whole time you wear it. The honey, as usual, is so syrupy thick and all encompassing. For me honey unlike vanilla has a real animalic and bodily quality, even thinking about royal jelly makes me squeamish, a bit claustrophobic, like smelling someone else's mildly dirty clothing. I do not enjoy the blanket urinic sweetness of these sorts of honey scents that are marketed as sexy. This is very 2016 black choker Kylie Jenner lip kit era. It simply would not make sense for this to exist ten years later.

Huggable scent. A lot of lovely honey, a dash of ginger, tobacco and I think it is mimosa that lifts it up. In the base -lovely musk and warm tonka beans. The scent is comfortable to wear, Tom Ford is too strong and unwearable though lovely. This is warm and gentle but potent. Creates a lovely aura and lasts 2 days.

I find this a better version and more masculine version of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille.

After forever, finally got my hands on a sample. It's fine, I'm sure if I had this on a wrist and tobacco vanille on the other I'd smell the differences, but this is close enough to it that if I smelled it on someone else Id assume its tobacco vanille. Glad to finally smell it so I can stop obsessing over it 😂 definitely don't need a full bottle though.

Ugghhhhh I'm mad at myself for buying samples of discontinued fragrances and then falling in love with them (someone stop me). I got a sample of this out of curiosity after trying Creme D'Nude at a MAC counter... I was so impressed with how smooth Cd'N was, so I wanted to try others that used to be a part of this line. Enter Velvet Teddy. I am not disappointed. Actually, I'm obsessed. Velvet Teddy is sooo gooood, just dripping with intense honey and tobacco. Smooth, rich, and sexy. The longevity is killer, too. I'm willing to throw my wallet at an ebay scalper to source a full bottle of this when the time is right.

Smelled it in stores, I feel like this doesn’t smell like tobacco vanille at all to me. It’s way less spicy and less rich.

Love Velvet Teddy, I need to buy this again soon! Love how the name oddly enough reflects the scent perfectly. It's sexy and feminine and in my opinion can be worn gently during the day or heavily at night. It can be a bit sweet, like eating too many butterscotches, after a while. But all in all, solid for an amber lover.

I bought this when Tobacco Vanille was all the rage. Since then I have learned to trust my nose. Of course I always read Fragrantica to see what people think about it. It is too heavy and dense. I should try it again layered with a vanilla. Maybe Fragrantica needs a "layering" recommendation section.

TV has dried fruits,,,,, VT has honey,,,, that is all,,,no diff but the price!

Unfortunately does not work for me. The tobbaco note is too rough to my nose, reminds me of night in Salzburg from la Maison de la Vanille. Longevity and projection are good, and till recently you could find a bottle in a reasonable price. I dont think it is a safe to blind buy.

This is a tobacco smell mixed with honey but not a TF dupe whatsoever. Last forever on clothes and a long time on skin. I always bring this out in the winter and Christmas time. Perfect for this time of year. Highly recommended 10/10

Absolutely doesn't smell like TF tobacco vanille until the very far dry down of both (when only the honey smell is remaining) Before that it smells as if someone is trying to recreate the smell of roooibos tea with honey and sweeteners with a tonne of synthetics. I really like Tobacco Vanille (hate the price, not sure if it is worth it tbh), but this I cannot stand. Not worth paying an inflated price for, I bought mine from MAC on sale and I personally didn't feel that it was even worth that tbh.

Wow, this really smells like beeswax candles and fresh pipe tobacco. Two very evocative and nostalgic scents. It transports me to old bookshops and markets where they sell beeswax and honey candies. Still very wearable. Something about it is just mouthwatering to me. A very special scent for a more than reasonable price.

I would *not* say this is a 'dupe' for TF TV, but it is related. The tobacco flower and Tonka Bean are more prominent here, and the added honey makes this a sweeter and more 'rounded' scent to me... where TV smells like straight-up Christmas, VT smells like what I expected tobacco + sweetness to smell like. It's absolutely not worth the insane prices people are asking for it right now, but if you hang in there and get a bottle for less than $100, I think it's a great buy. I can't wait to wear it in the end of summer and into fall - like others have noted, it's a spiced sweet chai. Yum!

Ooh this is beautiful. As another reviewer has said, it's like chai tea with lashings of honey! It's a gorgeous blend of honey and beeswax, warm spices like chai tea, dried sugared fruits, vanilla, tonka, hay, and tobacco. It's super sweet. Opening I get a strong dry hay note appearing, which is very reminiscent of hot summers, horses and dry crunchy fields. The hay note does reduce as it progresses and the sticky sweet honey beeswax and chai spice is more prominent. I think it's best suited to cooler weather but I love it so much that with the sticky sweet honey and dry hay notes being prominent it could also work well in warmer weather depending on preference. It lasts forever on my clothing and skin. I can smell it on my silicone watch strap for weeks after wearing it. Sillage is also huge, my boyfriend said he could smell beeswax from the other side of the room about 8 hours after application when applied to the front of my jumper. The price is very reasonable at £36 for 50ml, but people are selling for much higher than the RRP on second hand sites. Patience pays off as I managed to get a second hand barely used bottle for 2/3 of the RRP. I've no idea whether it has been discontinued or not. It would be such a shame if it has been, it's an absolute steal for such a complex, well blended and beautiful scent. I have only ever smelled TF TV dupes never actually the real thing, and whilst I can see the similarities, I would say that this is much more honied and sweeter, and the tobacco notes in here are much softer and lighter than the copies I've smelled. It's like a TF TV honey edition, and I would say it leans more feminine to my nose.

Opens with sweeeet tobacco and hints of root beer. Then I'm in the back of an antique shop surrounded by lots of old, dark wood furniture and undisturbed air. Sometimes I catch whiffs of something that makes me think of horses or stables (in a good way!)—warmth and straw and wool blankets and wood and something a touch animalic maybe? In the drydown, there's a soft fuzziness that reminds me chocolate scratch n’ sniff stickers. Soft soft soft soft. Huggable.

Smells just like chai, warm, spicy, cozy, velvety

I purchased a decant of a different fragrance and was sent 5mls of this as a TY for being their first sale. I must say I like this one! It smells like a high end cigar shop, spices and honey. I definitely think this is more a fall winter frag. I was hoping the mimosa note would shine through a bit more and make it appropriate for spring/summer but no such luck. At this price point I’d spring for a full bottle of this for sure

Okay so to say this smells like Tobacco Vanille is easy and a bit lazy of me as a reviewer but crudely it does. I think progression wise it's quite different for the opening part at least, a mixture of spicy almost licorice, anise and tea vibes momentarily, until it settles upon a common groove of the TV, dried fruit and honied, 'tobacco accord' stuff. This is rounder though, good right? No, it feels more vanillic and cheaper, somewhat more honey for extra cloy factor. Look I don't hate it, but this is a played out theme and I simply don't find it as good as TV (I don't even wear my TV anymore) even though it's a hell of a lot cheaper for effectively as near as damned it, the same thing. I think it is discontinued, although probably still widely available, I only say that because I tried it in that shop which sells off discontinued lines from Estee Lauder companies, but to be fair they also have stuff which isn't, so who knows?

This is Tobacco Vanille with the addition of lashings of sweet honey - delicious! More feminine than Tobacco Vanille and the longevity is fantastic. Great price for a quality fragrance, I absolutely love it.

To the poster who asked "can men rock this?" 100% yes! People can wear whatever they like. I've just spray my 23 year old son with it and it suits his skin more than mine. It smells like his moschino toy boy to my nose but he says not. It's my first "spicy" fragrance. Well I say first, Its my third bottle but I tend to stick with white florals. I couldn't believe my luck when it came back in stock at MAC UK. This is my cosy fragrance. Like tonight I'm a bit under the weather and tired. So it was shower and spray of this and bed. I am an over sprayer but with this I require two squirts. Any more and it gives me an headache and people in the office complain a little about it being to loud. I have always told myself I don't like ginger notes in fragrances but in those I love it. I may have to explore other fragrances that I've skipped over due to a ginger note. To me this smells like the German lebkuchen and I adore it. Two sprays on my clothing lasts a good 8 hours for work and that's good enough for me, given the bargain price. DID I MENTION ITS BACK IN STOCK ON MAC UK WEBSITE. GET IT GUYS.

It's back on mac uk online shop, so it isn't discontinued I guess. Very honeyed fragrance...like a real honey. I have few honey fragrances and none of them smells like real natural honey. So opening for me smell like Earl Grey tea with high amount linden honey in it. That exact smell I get every single time I make my tea. Later I smell some spices and sweetness slowly starts to disappear. Unfortunately drydown for me is pure Ebony Woods from Zara(woody and spicy and sour?)
