Crystal Saffron

Just got a sample three days ago, tried a little on paper first and I SWEAR my living room still smells like a high-end department store. This shit is STRONG. I fear I am too much of a coward to wear this out anywhere. I got a drop on my hand and smelled like a rich asshole for the next day. It does smell awesome though— this was when I decided I like saffron. My first blind buy, Encre Indigo, used that note in a very cool way and this was me wanting to experience that side of it with no distractions. I see the hype. One day I’ll find an occasion to actually wear it and update this review. Until then, 7/10.

Great sillage and longevity. High quality Saffron can be detected when you sniff it close to the skin. In the air it mixes with ambroxan, but it has airy quality to it. so far its "like" for me.

Blind bought this the other day in 50ml, it arrived today and I’m not disappointed at all! It’s beautiful, I would say masculine leaning but I like that sometimes. It does remind me a little of S&X by Azzi which I also love but this is slightly less spenny. I’ve only sprayed my wrist to see how it wears this evening. This is my second frag from this house as I’m a vanilla powder lover

If cyborgs had a scent—this is exactly what they would smell like. This fragrance smells like AI. I love wearing it whenever I want to distance myself from humanity. It’s totally out of this world, and watch out—it’s an absolute beast when it comes to performance. It marks its territory, walks into a room, sets the curtains on fire, and says: 'Finally, some fresh air to breathe.

I almost had to rinse this off at first because it smelled like straight gasoline but if you’re patient enough to let it dry down after a few hours, it does dry down quite beautifully.

I bought out Jomashop of these once I heard Madonna has it. Cost me a pretty penny, but come on—to smell like Madonna is to smell "like a virgin" for the very first time. Once you get past that first incredible blast, it's time to get "into the groove" and appreciate the sheer artistry of this fragrance. Spraying Crystal Saffron feels like a blinding "ray of light" hitting a sheet of cold, polished metal. It is sharp, clean, and futuristic—the kind of hyper-chic, sterile scent that practically demands you strike a "vogue" pose the second it hits the air. This is not a warm, cozy blend; instead, it leans into a crisp, synthetic edge that is perfect for the dead of winter when everything else is "frozen". As the scent settles, the premium Greek saffron begins to "express yourself" with a dry, leathery heat that mimics the steam rising from a hot iron. This is a loud, uncompromising, and unapologetically luxurious composition—a true "material girl" fragrance that radiates effortless confidence. The performance is so legendary that "papa don't preach" about moderation anymore; you quickly learn that a single spray is all it takes to cross the "borderline" into nuclear territory. It clings to fabric so intensely that trying to wash it out of your favorite shirt is "like a prayer" that won't be answered for at least a week. This isn't a casual, breezy "holiday" fragrance. It’s bold, artistic, and will leave everyone in your path completely "crazy for you."

I tried this because Madonna loves it. The best I can say is, this is one of the better offerings from the house. Not my style. Too much ambroxan

This perfume performs sooooo well. So well, in fact, that my boyfriend instituted a new rule: No spraying perfume in the bedroom. I haven't really followed that rule, which he hasn't brought up again, but I also haven't sprayed this exact perfume again. I like saffron a lot, but this was just too strong for me, and a bit cold. I also sometimes struggle with incense, so that might be a contributing factor.

I wish all of my favourite perfumes performed as well as Crystal Saffron

Soooo strong perfume. This stuff is nuclear. I have to spray it on my stomach or my lower back in order to be able to breathe without suffocating. And it lasts and last!!! I can smell all the notes listed in the piramide:metalic,musky,smoky,clean saffron. Very clean perfume. And absolutely worth the price.

It smells like luxury

I don't particularly like the smell of saffron, but this is the most beautiful saffron-themed perfume I've ever smelled; it's a very important perfume for saffron lovers

I admire the fact that Guichard grows many of his own organic materials. I also appreciate his philosophy regarding perfumery: namely, that nature already creates its own fragrances; we can only amplify certain aspects of that which is already given. In this instance, Greek saffron is the star of the show. The first hour is sparkling and effervescent, clean, sterile—I definitely get the dental office vibes. The mid dries down to a suede-like leather until the base becomes a trail of white musk and ambroxan. Performance is interesting. Sillage is moderate, which I appreciate. I'm not one of those who likes to be smelled before entering the room. Longevity, however, is the strongest I've ever experienced, at least on clothing. I put two sprays on the front of my shirt. Sixty hours later, including a day-long trail hike during which I sweated profusely, this thing was STILL wafting softly. On dry fabric, expect at least one week. Insane. Crystal Saffron is BR540 edp minus the candy-floss sweetness plus Thomas Kosmala No. 4 plus Ganymede. I love it. Scent: 10/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 10/10 Packaging: 8/10 Value: 8/10 on discounters. At retail, 6/10. It's pricey.

Smells incredible

It smells like a chainsmoker’s leather seated car

Crystal Saffron is technically impressive - saffron, ambroxan, clean musks, warm amber facets and light woody undertones all working together in a precise, structured way. But it never becomes plush or warm enough to feel personal on my skin. Structured, distant and not emotionally engaging enough for me to return to.

So luxurious, you can smell the price tag and it kind of smells like a price tag too… If you dislike ambroxan run for the hills, it’s very prominent, forget nuclear think antimatter annihilation. More than one spray of this on my neck and it invades my throat. I actually prefer this in spring, think when it’s 16 - 18 degrees and sunny in England. In winter, I found this had a 20% chance to smell bloody horrific, like strong plastic. If you like French Flower, they are similar due to the heavy ambroxan but this is more unisex and fresh. It’s sterile, fruity and fresh with a mild warmth up close. Extremely new leather car seats in the summer (no cleaner) except you’ve got a glass some overly dry, sparkling miscellaneous fruit wine thing in the cup holder. In my mind Mr Guichard has never missed, no exception here, a majority of my reviews say this is the one, this is the best, this is a top 5. I’ve come to realise he is him and I need to stop saying which is best. They are all amazing. I’ll eat my earring if someone who likes strong scents dislikes everything he has to offer.

Upon first smell from the bottle, crystal saffron smells exactly like the heat of an iron and the steam arising from it. Obviously synthetic but burning hot rather than cold.

Such a strange scent. Cold. Clean. Antiseptic. Almost reminiscent of a sterile tattoo parlor? The smell of black rubber gloves, ink, and rubbing alcohol. I kinda love it.

Very, very synthetic. I can almost enjoy it as a piece of art in an abstract way but I do not want this smell on or near my body. This scent seems related to Baccarat Rouge - like BR's meeker cousin. The ambroxan is just too loud for a personal fragrance. I am looking forward to the post-ambroxan era.

I strangely smell mint at the opening. Something very cold yet comfortable. I already have Falcon Leather and Safran Secret, still CS makes me hesitate whether or not I should give another saffron a try.

LOVEE THIS, a metallic, ever so slightly sweet ambroxan saffron. Love having this in my collection but honestly cant ever seem to find a place, or time to wear this.

My favorite fragrance

I mean obviously its nice. But the understanding of when and where to wear this far preceeds the quality of the fragrance itself. KNOW WHEN. KNOW WHERE. Or else it is very medicinal and out of place. Other than that, its fantastic

Simple, but traditional. Not into it, I'm learning more and more about the types of pairs I like w/ saffron, and ambrox/ amber / musk is NOT it. It's fine, lovers of that plasticy sweet oudiness of BR, will certainly enjoy this. The tester I have has lasted 2+ days, and smells on the dry just as it did in the open. Definitely not worth the premium, imo.
