I have Delina La Rose and they are both very similar
The open to this one is a bit harsh--there's like a sour smell in there I struggle with. The dry down is where I jive with it: it's a lovely musky rose. In terms of suede accords, I think Moroccan Leather does it better, or more to my taste. I can see myself reaching for this on a cool spring or fall day. You could probably wear it in the winter as well since it's leather, but it's not a super strong fragrance so I'd stick to the spring & fall. This is one of those Memo Paris fragrances that I look forward to trying after it's sat on the shelf for a bit and aged. I like it, but I don't exactly recommend it. There's just something off about that open I don't click with.
fresh rose with subtle suede in the background. the rose is so pleasant to smell throughout the day & the suede is silky smooth. moderate longevity and projection with an okay-ish price.
Smelt it at airport, among several I tried this one stood out. Immediately purchased it. It is very sexy rose scent. The rose is watery, some citrus to support it and maybe some little suede at the background but rose is the main player. It smells very luxurious. The downside is it doesnt last v long, lasted for 7/8 hours and projection is moderate.
the perfume, stemming from 2014, also the time at which I shall have bought it. I repeated a test I did a couple of days ago with 'Jean-Louis Scherrer 2': stepping in bed having spritzed the perfume and trying to guess what Notes I did smell. but here I needed a little more help so I sneeked out of bed and peeked for the necessary time at the Notes for additional information I apparently needed. the problem was this: I completely remembered the perfume as how I had left it off. I had worn it several times. but with enough perfumes in your collection the swiping system can be cruel and unbewillst, haphazourdly so. I remembered having quite liked this perfume. and I discovered I still do but with a Hump on the Way, last Night shall we say. what came unto me was this THICK, inimpenetrable WALL of the scent of Leather, the Rose who could barely lift her head up. where I never thought 'the perfume is turned' or 'it is ENTIRELY different from what I remember' somehow the sensation made another impression on me. until time (glued to my wrist) solved the most questionnable quircks and I was proud to remember almost all notes for having peeked not only, but also SMELLING them, successively. next to this I thought about 'leather-perfumes' and how they often used isobutyl-quinolyne, birch-tar, and all kinds of Leather (that were 'cured'). in general the Leather note is obtained by: "Synthetic or naturally derived note of pungent characteristics, reminiscent of cured hides and leather goods.Usually rendered by birch tar or by synth isoquinolines." (fragrantica) so I was thinking with my pulse still to my nose: in how far would and could they use Real Leather in a Leather perfume. and here we see the answer, they could and they would and Alienor Massenet did. and what in any case is crystal clear: it is Suede what I am smelling. they use flowers like Osmanthus, Violets, Orris and Iris, to counterbalance the pungent tarryness of the Leather. here that would be the Rose. and I DID SMELL THE ROSE. but in time the perfume got better and more subtle. I suspect it was a CRUNCH of hubris again in the fragrance dispenser. the perfume in my house, this perfume, is ten years old. so I am becoming sort of specialist in how to treat old perfumes. in short: spritz spritz and give them time. what I found mysterious: the Juniper, Clary Sage, and Pink pepper I have seen now used in many Leather perfumes. then the Lime, ah the Lime. shall we say I smelled a certain freshness in THE WALL, THE MONOLITH which greeted me last night. then of course the Musk. I think I comprise it best if I said again I didn't smelled it nor the shenanigans it possibly set in motion. at a certain moment I smelled pencil-shavings (the cedar) and Vetiverian machinistics, rooting it all to where the perfume finally was born from: the base, the Ground, the Earth and this Resinous quasi-sweet perfume. all in flickerings interspersing the WALL. the Rose was persevering. the biggest Mérite of this perfume is the smell of the Chic Suede, the inside of a hyper expensive Chanel, Hermès or, and Dior Ladies' Handbag. plus the paraphernalia that belong inside the exquisitely lined interior. (I remember also I chose between Italian, Irish and another early MEMO Leather perfume and I found this one the best.) my MEMO story begun on a holiday with my then 12 years old Niece (she is exspecting a baby NOW) and my straight Twinbrother. he gave me the MEMO Lalibela. and that was such nice start of my liaisons with their expensive perfumes. it was the funniest holiday of my life. my 10th visit to Paris where they came for the first time and Bas, my brother, Rattled away in French as if he had lived there for thirty years....
Another psychotic dose of amberwoods. This is from a carded sample, but it looks like I smelled a different fragrance than everyone else calling this "soft" and "light."
Fresh floral and leather heavy. Lovely suede accord, smells like a lux purse with fresh roses in it. Great for barely chilly days.
It’s very ok. I was expecting more leather and spices but it’s straight roses very moschino toy boy. I didn’t care for it. Not worth a full bottle
Oh dear Memo. You've let yourself down here a bit. I was spurred on by discovering the absolutely beautiful Italian Leather, to sample other perfumes from their leather series. This one drops the ball. I mean, it's alright, but for it's stupid, eye-watering price, I was expecting much more. The rose is dominant in this perfume, like a controlling, jealous male pig in a toxic relationship. It would be better if it was called "French Rose" or "French Fucking Flowerbomb of Powdery Disappointment". It is definitely more suited to the no tails, but a fancy, racy tail in a flamboyant outfit could also pull it off. But John down the pub, who drinks 4 pints of Director's beer a night in order to cope with his miserable existence, is definitely not going to like it. The lime is barely detectable. I was expecting a good old citrus wallop, with a rose undertone, but that's not what it does. The rose is so dominant, that it even manages to obliterate the sage, which is quite an impressive feat, as sage is a super tough herb. I am very glad I didn't buy a full size bottle. 5/10. It just can't have any more. Average, dull tosh.
The sparkling bright citrus and pepper notes hit right away up top but die off too quickly for me- such a wonderful combo and wished this stage held on much longer than a few minutes. Then comes a pretty delicate well balanced rose- not overpowering or powdery really just right. And the final transition to an intersting suede with a hint of wood. Now I usually hate leather but this suede is super smooth and melts right in perfectly. The description is actually perfect--lime, rose and suede like the inside of a handbag. This was a good effort- interesting journey. I get a pencil shavings at the very end which is strangely comforting. I am glad to have a small sample but can't see myself investing in a full bottle especially at Memo Paris prices. True rose lovers may want this unique twist in their collection but I can't see myself reaching for this one often.
I feel like it's a very peppery and clary sage forward rose. I bought decants of this and Sintra, and I'm definitely enjoying this one much more, but I'm not loving it. I feel like it leans more masculine on my skin. Smells like a dusty suede jacket that has been sitting in a closet of some store filled with Bulgarian rose products.
Smells like I was smelling roses in vinegar inside a leather goods store. It's such a difficult perfume for me yet. I want to get a little more experience and then test it again
Smells a bit weird, does not last long, and quiet sillage. If you're planning to buy a full bottle/blind-buy, then I'd suggest you buy a sample .
Pencil shavings with lime. Or the inside of a pencil box with crayons and all kinds of stuff. Somewhat reminds of school classrooms? Weird like rose combo. Doesn’t last. Has some intrigue but not worth the purchase for me.
(LordLor10/02/25 08:02 Unfortunately it smells like beer. No.) Check your nose, please. You have a problem
I have a sample size and I enjoy the lime, rose and suede notes, but the sillage and longevity on me are both terrible. For these reasons I won’t be buying a larger size as I dislike lousy performance from an expensive perfume.
Such a beautiful, peppery sueded rose with citrus shining in the background 😍😍 a stunning scent. Definitely date night worthy … i received a miniature as a gift and totally loved it … I definitely have this on my mind to buy as a full size bottle in the future … the suede here is so soft and feminine. I adore this blend. - Bhavna Darira Chesan
On the paper it was really nice, a bright citrus, leather and peper, with some fresh airy rose. The rose was not strong, and that's good for me. On my skin is so bad. I can't even smell the rose anymore, no citrus. One of the notes ruins everything, most probably the peper, or peper with sage, since it gives me the feeling it's something I would put on bread or so, like salt and pepper or maybe sweat on the saddle. After a while it gives really the "I'm riding a horse 🏇🏻" vibe, maybe too much, maybe so much that it transforms into "I'm a racing horse 🐴I like hay and I have a saddle on me full of human sweat after the training"
This is one of the brightest fragrances I've ever smelled. I got this for test about a few years back, and upon smelling it for the first time I was BLASTED.....and I do mean BLASTED by what I think is an insane lime punch to my nose. I was insanely turned off by this one immediately as I wanted a rosy leather scent, and that's where I realized I need to do my damn research. Given this one was really early on in my fragrance journey, I didn't appreciate those bright, florally scents and suede was something I was not aware of yet. So I feel like this one still deserves another go. Girlfriend absolutely loved the sample, and got many compliments behind it. So I'm thinking about ordering this one for her in the near future!
Delicate, feminine, and sophisticated. Sits close to the skin and doesn't last long. Personally, a perfume with rose and leather notes SHOULD last, especially at that price point.
A fairly pleasant, citrusy, floral fragrance with soft suede over top Personal: 6/10 – A fresh, slightly sour rose paired with suede. I can appreciate the craftsmanship, but the rose dominates too much for me to enjoy wearing it. That said, it's presentable. Mass appeal: 7/10 – Rose-suede has a luxurious aura, though the sour-leaning rose can be a rather divisive profile. But, it is one of the more mass appealing executions of it. Performance: 7.5/10 – Fairly long lasting and good performance for something fresh. Value: 4.5/10 – Memo pricing is very high, and while the quality is obvious, the DNA isn’t groundbreaking enough to justify the luxury tier for me. But, if you love the DNA, this is the best execution of it. Uniqueness: 7.5/10 – The rose-leather combo isn’t new, but it’s done with refinement and balance here. Still, it doesn’t feel wholly original, just a pleasant version of it. SCORE: 65/100 Full bottle buy? NO, I couldn’t wear this regularly due to the rose dominance. Blind buy? NO, rose and leather are both polarizing, and the price makes it even riskier. Recommend? YES, if you love rose forward leathers and want a luxurious, polished option. Date night? YES, it has a refined elegance that could work well in romantic settings. Office safe? NO, too bold and rosy for a professional environment. Pros: Refined rose and suede accord, luxurious quality, reasonable performance. Cons: Overpriced, rose is too dominant, not the most versatile. Better exists for the price. French Leather feels like Memo’s attempt at distilling the chic Parisian rose and leather vibe into a polished fragrance. It succeeds in being luxurious and wearable for rose lovers, but for me, the sour rose overshadows everything else. While it’s undeniably well-made, fresh, bright, and uplifting, it doesn’t feel unique enough to warrant Memo’s high price tag, and it’s not something I’d ever reach for personally. The fragrance feels pretty linear, with a citrusy floral opening softened by a smooth suede, it doesn't evolve much, but it's good nonetheless. This feels more like a blue fragrance than it is anything else, honestly. The rose is loud to my nose, but most of what others will smell is the bright, fresh citrus and a soft suede. It's a very fresh, citrusy, floral forward and soft suede fragrance that's well worth smelling, but to me, hardly worth the price tag. Review #142 in my fragrance journey – this fragrance I own as a decant
I love the Memo Paris line, this is one of my favs. An expensive leather with a light realistic rose. Smells unique and sophisticated.
Smelt like floral bugspray inside of a purse. Only fragrance I immediately yeeted onto our community donation table.
Upon the initial spray, you are greeted by a peppery citrus scent that lasts for about 30 seconds. The opening is quick and fades in less than a minute, making way for a soapy rose note accompanied by a hint of leather suede in the background. The leather note is soft and acts merely as a supporting element for the rose. Throughout the wear, the main notes remain rose and suede. I also noticed some musky and woody notes emerging later on, but the dominant scents are definitely rose and leather. French Leather reminds me of leaving rose-scented soap inside a leather bag. For the most part, you experience that soapy rose with a clean leather undertone. Although it has a soapy quality, Memo has successfully kept the scent unisex, making it enjoyable for both men and women. However, it might be more suited for men when paired with a slightly dressed-up style. The fragrance projection isn't overpowering, which is typical of French perfumery. It projected well for the first hour before settling to an arm's length for the remaining duration, which lasted about five hours on me. Overall, I enjoy the fragrance but would have preferred better longevity given the price point of Memo fragrances.
wasnt for me, which shocked me considering how much i love rose. i think the lime is what threw me off, i hate citrus more than anything in scents and this smells really sour at first and a bit dusty as well. the suede is very clean for sure but smth about this reminds me of someone's house i always used to go to when i was younger. thought id love this but was honestly the exact opposite
French Leather is a rose that doesn’t have to shout to get noticed. It’s polite, fresh, clean, a little shy, and very classy. The rose itself feels velvety and dry, resting on a creamy suede and musk base. It opens with a lively mix of citrus and pepper, along with a subtle metallic note—which is pretty common in rose perfumes—that shows up briefly. It’s a versatile and elegant fragrance that can easily work as a signature scent.
The opening is gorgeous—an elegant, luxurious-smelling rose-suede blend! But that only lasts like 10min before it turns into a citrusy sour rose scent :( My search for the perfect rose-leather scent continues...
Very faint It s nice but not something special . It s weak / watery
The name is super misleading. This is the lightest lime and rose scent. If I inhale really really deeply, I can find traces of musk, powdery suede and maaayyybe a bit of juniper. But it’s mainly lime and rose, very fun airy light spring/summer scent. Doesn’t last very long, maybe 2 hours on my skin.
Ok, I am still lost. This one has me searching and grasping for anything to hold. As in some others, the use of "Leather" in the name is questionable. I need to deprive my other senses to find it. Still have a hard time believing any exists. I get a sterile aromatic rose. Almost like a rose bush near a swimming pool.
