yeah this smells crazy. i don’t smell much of anything other than a rose water rose, powder, a very astringent synthetic cloying soapy sharp saffron, and some sweet dark woodiness in the back. all in quite an obnoxious cologne style. I have never liked a saffron note, so consider that in my rating of this. but yeah this is not for me. maybe in small ppm this would smell better. i might just be sticking my nose up too close.
Like someone said that it smells like dry down of Mancera's Black Prestigium i completely agree w that gentleman. This is little gourmand. I dont detect any agarwood or rose all i can smell it loads of orris root, some safron and cumin (You can smell cumin only when you put your nose really close the area where you have applied it). It is smells buttery and powdery This is not potent like other montales, it stays on my skin for just 6 hours or maybe little more and also it doesnt project much, sits close to your skin. I do gets wiffs in btw. Overall it smells good but has weak performance
Initially bought a 5ml decant. Now I think it's a fb worthy. Really good. Orris, rose, oud. Honestly, orris dominates, which I love. My first experience with rose oud + orris. Orris is underrated. Good price also if you purchase from discounter. I guess I somewhat smell that cumin, but it is not off-putting.
Chalky and creamy orris root, very buttery rose, gourmand and has this rose jam-like aspect. It’s textured almost like a buttered biscuit. To describe it shortly, I would say it smells like a buttered sugar cookie (with a bit too much butter), rose jam, and a slap in the face of orris root. One of the most underrated perfumes in my opinion
Unisex but more on the feminine side. Smells like a mature older woman. Not bad, just not my taste. I got nothing gourmand from it.
Smells like the saffron rice cakes my Persian grandmother used to prepare. Truly nostalgic, but do I personally want to smell like that? Not really. 🙂
Was this reformulated? I keep hearing people saying this is one of the strongest and longest lasting frags they’ve smelled. I can get away with 10 sprays without it being way too overpowering. Everyone smells me, but 7 sprays in intense red tobacco aired out all the rooms I was in. Either I’m going major nose blind, or this isn’t as strong as people say, or it’s reformulated. Either way, 10/10 smell
I don't know why but I smell a subtle hint of pastries as the scent is settling down.
I like my 5ml decant. Orris, saffron and oud.
Sweet jammy rose with a creamy sandalwood and pleasant mancera aoud. 9.8/10
Not bad at all, a pleasant, another take on oud.
Red aoud is the weirdest gourmand I’ve ever smelled… if you can call it that. It’s like a saffron sponge cake with rose jam. It reminds me of the smell of funnel cakes as you walk through a fair or amusement park too. Great performance, similar Pierre montale oud oil note, jammy rose on vanilla cake is pretty much what I’m getting.
#1306 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. It's a fantastic saffron and orris bomb. I love it. Solid performer. Not business wear. I wouldn't say day wear, but more a date scent. Smells like incense but it isn't. I wouldn't wear it in a carpool unless you carpool in a top-down convertible, and I wouldn't wear this on a plane (I really hate it myself when someone boards a plane after bathing in something like this). It'll get offensive for those people who get claustrophobic in tight spaces with fragrances like this. Open air dining is where this will shine. It's reasonably priced. We've all had much more expensive scents without this kind of all day longevity and projection. Definitely a buy for me.
Smells like a freshly baked saffron cake!!! It is like if you just sprayed black prestigium, and sat down waiting in your kitchen for your freshly baked saffron cake to cool down😍
For me orris root is the most prominent note in this. This fragrance is an absolute monster on my skin. Insane sillage and longevity. I wish i could smell the other notes but the orris just overpowers it. Same thing happens with black prestigium. 8/10.
This is the softer sister of Mancera Black Prestigium (they are both beast performers, but the scent profile is softer). I like them both, but I do like the Mancera just a little more, as it is a little more rugged, and leans a little bit more masculine. They are both unisex, and I can pull them off easily, especially if I don't overspray either of them. This one is an orris/iris lover's dream. Red oud is dominated by sweet orris/iris, with a little rose and some soft woods in the background giving it a nice gourmand hint. In the air this is truly lovely and it projects and lasts. There are some powdery elements that it shares with Montale Blue Amber (despite having no amber in the note breakdown). I don't get cumin, but the woody notes in this one can be attributed to some clean form of vetiver and sandalwood. The saffron is very soft and is only present to amalgamize the whole composition rather than being a main note. I don't usually layer fragrances, as chemicals sometimes do not react well to each other. However, I did experiment with this one once and the result was rather nice. I sprayed a total of three sprays of Red Oud, and two soft sprays of Bentley for Men Absolute (which is really mainly cedarwood). Given the performance of Red Oud, and the woody nature of the Bentley the result was a niche version of something that Givenchy Gentleman would put out. The trick is two very minimal sprays of the Bentley. Someone mentioned the Oud/woody note is not strong enough in Red Oud, this combo fixes that. I do enjoy wearing this one alone, but the trick to this one as well as the Mancera Black Prestigium is going light on the trigger...believe me I am usually a heavy sprayer, but not with these. I even heavily spray Mancera Red Tobacco as well as Amouage Interlude, but these two smell better when they're lighter.
People keep saying this is super rosey but the only note I'm getting is orris root. It's incredibly strong and drowns out all the other notes for me.
The orris root is extremely prominent in this. To me it's sort of similar to black prestigium from mancera. Beast mode performer. 8/10 from me.
The drydown is very similar to Oud Satin Mood. Rose, saffron and a bit of oud. Performance is off the charts… It lasts a whole working day on you with just 2-3 sprays. Projects for about 4.5 hours.
It is way too synthetic agarwood and rose bomb that I can't even pick up any notes other than those
For me it’s like hand sanitiser initially but after a few minutes settles to a strong rosey peppery oud, quickly after this it dries down to a sweet woody powdery gourmand - I don’t think powdery is given enough attention in the ‘main accords’ bit on here because if you don’t like anything powdery you won’t like this! I really love it though, grown without being too mature, sweet without being sickly or juvenile and woody without being to dry or masculine.
It is not overpowering, sort of a rosey-powderish-gourmand combo. I'd been craving for a bottle of this and I did not regret purchasing it. delicate and yummy scent, I'd say it is more feminine than masculine leaning. Love this scent:)
This is a gourmandish rosey oud that I enjoy even in the middle of summer, though I know that it will shine and radiate even more in cold weather. A blind buy that I will wear more than a lot in the months to come. It just makes me so happy. Feminine, with very good longevity and fenomenal sillage. Real love in a bottle.
I actually love this fragrence on my SO, this one and oud tobacco kind of remind me of each other b/c the mix of oud and pepper kind of give off a soft sweet tobacco vibe in this parfum just imo. But this is a tobacco-ish, rose/saffron scent, you def get hints of the cumins and like a very soft comforting powder like scent, very rounded, imo not sharp after the intial spray settles. I just love cuddling when he wears Parfums like this one. So relaxing, sexy and comforting. Will buy him a WB.
I love this. It feels like a really clean, polished oud fragrance that is warmed by the rose. Nothing is too overpowering.
This smells like a more bittersweet Tabu Dana, as I find it more complex. Definitely giving stone/palm reading shop after it dries on the skin, good to wear for a funeral probably.
Gourmand rose. Imagine a tray of warm homemade biscuits covered in rose syrup. That's how Red Aoud smells to me. It's sweet, slightly spicy, projects well, last forever and garnishes many compliments. Delicious! What's not to love?
I always start from the back to the front, and in this case I first enjoyed the Mancera Black Prestigium 🖤, which was created quite a bit after this Red Aoud ❤️, but although it is probably a starting base of Prestigium, it seems that Red is more balanced, smoother, a little more a sweetness that also makes it pleasant to wear. In Black 🖤, after drying, the woody feeling settles in a lot more and is a little more intrusive. There is something warmer and cozy here, probably from the Saffron and Vetiver.. in the opening quite sweet mossy, even chocolaty, in the drydown already softened it just envelops the wood and makes it warm, fiery 🔥❤️ I love both, but Red it's my favorite and most beautiful ❤️🥰
Red Aoud is unmistakably floral-woody. The powerful and medicinal scent of aoud with pepper is followed by a vetiver that shouts next to saffron and, ultimately, an exquisite rose that stays attractive beside vetiver and sandalwood. Red Aoud continued this way, like a somewhat powdery floral with overwhelming vetiver and something warm and comforting, which I feel is the consequence of caraway and sandalwood notes. The projection and lifespan are exceptional. Without a doubt, a masterpiece!
Rose dominant Rose-oud combination on my skin. Has a tone of middle-eastern perfumes, unlike Roses Musk. I LOVE Rose Anonyme EXTRAIT in winter but not Rose Anonyme or Red Aoud, if that helps. Has a powdery facet to it. Reminds me of strong, cheap perfumes that I have smelt before. Dislike for me.
