Moschino

I regretted buying this when I tried it the first few times, but today it’s suddenly opened its charm to me as I move around surrounded by its warming cloud. It’s not powdery as some people describe it, but really spicy. There’s much less amber-y sweetness in it than in Obsession or Anne Klein II. A strong and unisex performer. For cold weather exclusively.

This was gifted to me with my Vintage Decants large purchase and I wanted to really like it since I'm spending my way through all of the decades of fragrance and I hoped to find another to join my permanent collection. Moschino comes off very heavy 80's glamor warfare, a scent that Joan Collins would wear on Dynasty and much too much for my style. It lasts and lasts and hangs on to your clothes with brut force, so if you like a power 80's frag this might be for you.

in the 1980s my mother and me wore the 'parfum de toilette' of this stupefying perfume. it has a cachet all of its own. we both had a knack for the worst 'hookers' of the 1980s, POISON, COCO, OBSESSION, KNOWING, GIORGIO, MOSCHINO, (earlier originated:) OPIUM, NAHEMA, BIJAN, (later) GALE HAYMAN BEVERLY HILLS, BOUDOIR. of course also Christian Lacroix' 'C'est la Vie !'. but Moschino's fashion (starting I think in 1984) had an obvious referencing to the CHANEL suit, but satirised, playfull, ironic. Karl Lagerfeld already did all of that as well as a lending of sanctity to his Haute Couture so I never heard of any lawsuit or whatever. Karl did EVERYTHING with CHANEL and 'toute le monde'. so when I thought of writing a review I thought of how this particular perfume (heavier still thèn because pdt) YET reminesces for me to that Grande Dame Chanel No 5. it is a Chanel No.5 punked up. Chanel No 5 will ALSO always be indispensable for me and I groupe it with these 'ladies who lunch': Jean Patous JOY, Hermès's CALèCHE (not these fucking flankers), Miss Dior (originally from 1947, I remember when I started with perfumes in 1974 when you saw Dior on the shelves they still had the 1950s and 1960s jackets on). Madame Rochas, Ivoire de Balmain. all different and yet in their austere hauteté similar indeed, ladies. the whores of the 1980s ended that era, yet didn't destroy their unexpected resilient classicism. MOSCHINO has proven to be classic too. I always smelled something like Chanel No 5 with either cumin, caraway, and now it appears to be nutmeg grains. Christian Lacroix' 'C'est la Vie !' also had a twist. they belonged to the angry young women and men (the women: Agnes B, Marilyn Miglin, Chantal Thomass, Donatella Versace, Madonna, Prada but then rather Krizia, Jil Sander et cetera) who deterritorialized all borders in music, fashion , parfumerie, sometimes all together. it was a shock that MOSCHINO died so quickly after his fashion Imporium had begun. it was the decade of AIDS. I just wanted to give some background information because this perfume stll steals hearts with its e.d.t. and it definitely sits firmly in my heart as does MOSCHINO who had a handsome but rather first, mischievous Italian face with a petite moustache....

This was my late mother's signature scent, I kept her bottle and it takes pride and place in my perfume collection, 12 years later - it still smells amazing. I love this perfume, purely for the memories... a Scent really can transport you back in time! I don't wear this perfume but I do spritz it during times when I need to feel my mams presence. Its a powerhouse and this scent lasts!!! It's vintage, classic and it always got my mam compliments... every single day someone complimented her on her beautiful perfume and she loved it. She was a religious, honest, hardworking Irish woman, who never bought herself anything and if truth be told... she wore the same clothes, with a nice outfit for mass time only, before going back into the rags, as she used to say! But, she always wore her Moschion daily. I found this perfume on sale YEARS ago and picked it up for her birthday and the rest was history, she instantly loved it and every birthday and Christmas, she looked forward to getting her gifts, and the most anticipated gift... yes... her beloved Moschino. Times were simpler, everyone had less but we appreciated more. Fragrances were a treat and were made to last, to be loved and make us feel so special. Moschino is more than a perfume, it's a feeling, a moment in time and in my opinion a forever classic ❤️

Vintage powdery scent! Don’t buy

(Comparison of a 1988 EdT and a new formulation) I can keep this short, sweet, and simple: Moschino EdT is still in great shape today compared to the original release. The original is a bit darker and woodier thanks to real sandalwood and a bit more patchouli, but otherwise they are nearly identical. Hallelujah! The sweet green pea opening of galbanum and honeysuckle has an edge but primarily comes across as fun and inviting. The transition to the heart layer is very quick, and the lights dim to low as a rose accord is accented by deep, woody, aromatic spices of clove and a touch of peppercorn. Here is also where the original formulation and the new formulation depart from each other a little. The creamy sandalwood and the loamy patchouli are just a bit bigger and louder in the original, dimming the lights a bit lower than the new formulation, the latter opting for a bit more brightness. But, largely, the exact same notes are present and accounted for. Somehow in the low light the “bright” and “cheerful” levity that we got in the opening is still there; this isn’t a dour, dusky, or serious spicy rose middle despite that accord usually leaning that direction in most perfumes to feature it. Very pleasant and pretty. The base also has a bit of a difference between the formulations in that the musks of the original are slightly more gray animalic, almost a touch ambergris like, while the vetiver of the amber concoction also seems to be a bit stronger as evidenced by a slightly more pronounced green edge. The new formulation opts for more a typical vanillic benzoin and woody amber presentation that is nonetheless nicely done. In both the base is lightweight, breathable, diffusive, and well balanced, propping up the spicy rose heart very well. I can’t say that this perfume, either then or now, is anything special or unique. It’s not. Truth be told there isn’t much to write home about, but for that reason lies Moschino’s strength: it’s not trying too hard at all. It wants to be simple, pleasant, easy to wear, and easy to like. And it is. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Well, this one is definitely vintage in feel, and the marigold note is very pronounced which is lovely. My husband said it smells like 'grandpop's pipe tobacco' and I sort of know what he means. :) I like it, but it is only to be used in well-ventilated areas, which gives away its 80s origin (the decade when sillage could be described in terms of 'blast radius').

Its ok. Nothing groundbreaking at all. On my skin its a classy soft very powdery scent. Longevity and projection is below moderate at least on my skin. I love powder scents especially the vintage ones. But because this one is so weak on my skin i will sell my bottle.

my Mom has rocked 4 fragrances and only 4 fragrances, her entire adult life. She's never jumped ships. And the old school 'divas' like her who dont believe in smelling like the next chick walking down the street, tend to wear things that are either flat out polarizing (hard to stand)..or the things that smell pleasant, but really are on their own stratospheres and are uncommon. She still wears Boucheron/Boucheron, Amouage Gold (Man), Donna Karan/Chaos and Moschino. And Ive asked her from time to time if she knows of something she wants me to get for her...nope...no can do. I have no idea where she gets her bottles of Chaos, because I know she's gone thru several bottles of it. But, just as sure as the Sun rises everyday, Im sure she has a source that she, for whatever reason, will not divulge. Its hilarious to me to see her so undercover about some damn perfume. But her signature scents are sacred to her...thats all I know. And I can be that way too about the shit I wear, sometimes.

I recently discovered this beauty on a European trip and instantly fell in love. There’s something magical about stumbling upon a fragrance like this — vintage, yes, but somehow so ahead of its time. It genuinely feels made for the gourmand girlies of today.

Good autumn scent. Give it some time for the galbanum to pass - it gets richer when marigold blends with nutmeg and carnation. A bit heavy on the pepper for me but not a deal breaker. Vintage version, and quite the 1980s powerhouse, though it has an older feel to it as well. If Youth Dew is too strong for you, this might work. It's in the same family but a little less beastly.

Reminds me of Fidji, probably due to the galbanum. A deeper, rounder somehow twisted Fidji. I like the top more than the dry down. There is a jarring combo of notes that put me off.

Questo profumo quando uscì per la prima volta nel 1987 aveva un odore molto diverso,era simile a shalimar ma molto speziato,marcato e potente. Purtroppo venne sostituito quasi subito dalla versione più dolce e fluida che poi restò inalterata per tutti gli anni 90. Era davvero un profumo incantevole, dolce, liquoroso ma molto speziato. Lo usavo per le feste di natale perché aveva quell'atmosfera di calore e di luce calda che brilla nel buio,un po come le luci di natale nel buio della notte,fredda. Dorato,regale,festivo e molto voluttuoso,veniva voglia di berlo. Poi dopo il 2000 è stato rifirmulato credo nella versione attuale che ormai non ha più niente di quella gloria passata. È sciocco andare a cercare moschino oggi e pensare di sentire gli aromi che aveva nel 1987, a meno che non trovi un edizione vintage di quegli anni. Le recensioni che definiscono i profumi di questo tipo come "datati,vecchi,superati e da anziano" le trovo odiose. Anche perché quando indossavamo questi profumi avevamo 15 anni. I profumi di oggi sono delle schifezze,tutti uguali,senza fantasia completamente sintetici, senza valore e senza alcuna sensualità. E queste schifezze sarebbero giovanili ? Le vaniglie? I biscotti,il caramello e gli intrugli stomacanti tipo " la vie est belle"?o gli oudh che li mettono dappertutto e non sono neanche buoni da sentire. È evidente che la gente è stata manipolata

Well Ms.Kim231, you just found a guy who wants to wear this. It feels very unisex. I absolutely love this down to the ground. The nutmeg blends wonderfully with the Galbanum (many scents I love seem to have it in the mix) to create a warm, earthy powder I can really get behind. I also find the Carnation here not being a dominant soapy note quite novel. I could say the same for the Sandalwood, which often smells like celery on my skin, that blends really nicely with the Vanilla to create a gentle sweetness. It feels a lot like Youth Dew's floral,green cousin. I quite like Youth Dew, but it feels too heavy for daily use.This has been a big part of why I've not bought some yet. In contrast, Moschino is actually also quite fresh to my pleasant surprise.I tend to shy away from Spicy Amber scents due to how heavy they feel,but this one has me curious to find more spicy amber that aren't. I will absolutely pick this up around September when it gets chilly. A little annoying I find this scent in April when the time for it has effectively ended, but I've got plenty of lovely fresh smells for the heat to enjoy!

Oooooo she’s a BEAST! blind bought Moschino because of the rave reviews and I was looking for a perfume that reminded me of the 1980’s power house perfumes. It’s perfect! Brought me right back. This would be killer on a guy too! Moschino by Moschino is a hidden gem from the ‘80s that still feels timeless.

The scent is strong but does not last too long. It is great dupe for Must de Cartier.

Dad was gifted this perfume for his birthday and no one knew that it was a "feminine fragrance". He got tired of it and gave it to me and I started wearing it to school. I pulled a lot of compliments from both guys and girls with it. It's sweet floral but not in a sticky way with a generous dose of spice.

This perfume settles down with an unpleasant, pungent, animalic, spicy-masculine cologne scent on my skin. Leans more masculine. Not for me...

Usé este perfume en los 90. Delicioso, me preguntaban por él. A lo largo de los años, a temporadas lo he usado, de hecho tengo uno sin terminar....me sigue gustando, aunque creo que no huele igual que los primeros que usé.......

It you loved fragrances from the era's: 70,80s and 90s then it is more than likely that you will love this exceptional scent by Moschino. To me, this beauty falls quite nicely into the Ciara, Cinnabar, Youth Dew, Obsession or Coco family and like these fragrances Moschino is an Oriental with a twist, just like it's sisters, cousins and aunts. I:E Cinnabar is loved for it's unique Coco Cola gummy bear sweets smell undertone, the sophisticated Coco by Chanel, which is loved for being heavy on the Cloves and Obsession is loved for being extra heavy on amber. I can say that Moschino does definitely bear a lot of similarity to these scents with its own unique twist; aromatic scent heavy on the Galbanum and Marigold note.

I can only imagine the experience of buying and wearing this in 1987.. The bottle is incredibly cool it's basically a bottle of champagne or a liqueur. It's been called a grandma perfume. Well imagine if that was a Great thing and not a bad thing you would have Moschino by Moschino . In a world full of hundreds and hundreds of poor performing uninteresting fragrances, Moschino reminds us how powerful fragrances were in those days. No reformulations here.. this is a sillage monster and true to the word "perfume" in every way . Maybe more french than Italian though ..

CK Obsession with more green notes and less animalic notes.

The previous reviews could've been written by me, in 2012, when I got this decant. Stashed it away, sniffed it now and then, couldn't like it let alone love it. Today I am wearing it staying at home and it's a whole different story. I concur with the person who mentions carnations (@mirrorghost). Yes! Carnations, galbanum, nutmeg slowly evolving into musky vanilla. So good, whenever I move I am getting beautiful whiffs. And something so classic, which I associate to Italian scents, so warm and stabilizing. Something of Chanel 5 too, which is very family-related for me. Its colour has turned more liquory, looks like Obsession. Well, I'm loving this, but I don't know if I would get this scent upon buying a new one. If I did, I'd buy for sure.

I haven’t worn this for at least a year, wasn’t smitten last time, but tried it again. Straight up men’s barbershop scent, very strong and herbal, dries down to imitation vanilla flavoring. No carnation, no fruits, no love.

Way too manly smell

The opening is the greenest, most funeral wreath-y thing I've ever smelled, and boy does it project. Absolutely unpleasant to my nose. On the dry down the flowers get tamer and I get the sweetness and spice, especially vanilla and nutmeg - from a fresh to a warm perfume in an hour. Sadly, the warm phase has seemingly no projection, and I'm shoving my nose into my wrists to be able to describe it. I was gifted this perfume and wanted to love it, but just can't.

honestly it smells like a greek orthodox church

i got a mini of this perfume and it's really nice. ambery carnation with some patchouli for the most part. starts out more green then turns more musky/ambery over time, along with florals. i think i get mostly rose and gardenia with a hint of ylang ylang. it reminds me of anne klein 2, maybe slightly greenier and woodier. the plum is really nice too-this smells very 80s/90s and reminds me of my younger years. really pretty vintage, glad i found some!
