Alien Man

one of the better new releases of the last few years.. starts with beautiful and mood lifting aromatics, they reminded me with some of YSL greatest hits from years ago, like the aromatic opening of the Jazz lineup. dries down to this inviting, purplish and enigmatic base, it leans unisex at this stage, youthful but tastefully done...

No, there's no way some of these reviews are being deadass, this scent is just beautiful! There is nothing weird or off-putting about it, it doesn't smell anything like dill. It's aromatic, creamy, smooth, slightly leathery, a little bit floral, fresh, warm, spicy...It has a soft, cozy vibe, almost like a warm hug. It doesn't feel "alien" at all, or nearly as bold or daring as it's feminine counterpart. It's also fairly quiet, both in terms of longevity and projection. But I love it, it reminds me a lot of 90s masculines like Roma Uomo, Must de Cartier Pour Homme, Lolita Lempicka Pour Homme, etc. for that warm anisic quality. It's like that scent profile updated for the 21st century and with that smooth silky cashmeran making it quite a nice wear. Overall it's great. Don't get the hate for this at all! Just think it was misnamed and branded.

I just got the Tester bottle of this one.I really don't understand the hate for this,either people noseblind or dellusional.This smells very very nice and manly.Nothing synthetic in the opening which indeed smells like a combination of thyme,lavender and tea.I don't pick up any dill note as the reviewers and youtubers say, Anise is also very strong at first spray which is nice since I love anise scent.Very aromatic and dark at first but airy and fresh at the same time.The "Dutch Liquorice" impression that another reviewer said is spot on. There is also leather in there but I need more wearings to detect its characteristics.I'm afraid of spraying such a brautiful scent,very unique than todays bullcrap of releases!! I might say it has one of the best openings I have ever smelled on a fragrance.The name "Alien Man" does not justify the smell.It does not change tho,does not deviate much from the opening and as an Eau de Toilette I got 4 to 6 hours of longevity which is very impressive for an EDT,sadly low sileage (my mom could not smell it very easily upclose).I can also wear it on a summer night since it has that aromatic fresh quality to it (not spicy like La Nuit DL'homme).From me it is easily a 9.5 out of 10 even as a blind buy,very creative fragrance,bravo to the perfumer!

One of the most interesting fresh fragrances. Versatile. Very smooth due to Cashmeran, fresh, uplifting, nothing off-putting in it. Dries down to a beautiful and lost lasting scent. Someone says it’s not unique.. look at the notes listed. Cmon. Created by the same guy who introduced Aventus and Spicebomb Metalic Musk. Cmon cmon

nothing about this is unique, maybe its me whos super nose blind to all mens perfumes but this is just a basic scent. the more i smell it the less interesting it gets..

Stellar. One of the best casual/office scents ever. So good. Very green, very pungent, very fresh. So unique. I love it, one of my favorites. The dill note is the star here but in such a good way. Really hard to describe it but alien man is a great name for it because it's so different than everything else. I really don't know how to describe it besides fresh and green and herbal The only other fragrance that smells similar to this is Curve for men edt It's absolutely a shame they discontinued it. They always discontinue the best stuff smh Performance might be a little deceptive. It seems to be on the weaker side however you will get nice whiffs of it from time to time. Longevity about average I suppose

Special, different from the annoying crowd of.male.scents nowadays. Peforms insane, all day long. A true gem. Discontinued.

I really enjoy this frag by its uniqueness alone, it's weird and strange in the best possible way. Its aromatic, kinda green and leathery. But all of these facets are presented in a unconventional way here. The leather it's predominant mid to late drydown and it's both clean and dirty, while the opening is fresh and you can clearly pick a spicy lavender/mint combo in wet dirt. It doesn't sound very appealing but it actually is lol. The best analogy i can draw here is a White Leather jacket in a dimly lit wooden cabin. It's comforting but depraved at the same time, i really don't know how to explain this, it's borderline obscure niche territory which is astounding for a designer fragrance. Performance easily above 8 hours on my skin with like 5-6 sprays. Night time fits best.

Off the bat, I can see why this is a little controversial but I love it. Very unique... Alien, if you will. If you don't like anise, don't even think about it. If you do, it might be worth trying. It reminds me of sitting on a fresh leather couch eating Dutch liquorice. Thyme/mint and lemon zest brighten it up with a peppery spice carrying through the whole experience. Could get away with it in all seasons but might get a little much in summer. One of those ones I will just randomly pick up and sniff out of repeated curiosity, even if I don't plan on wearing it that day.

I love it, its more relaxed scent than what im going for but i really love the mugler line and this bottle is stunning. I think it gives a lil bit of drier sheet but im okay with that.

This stuff is good, kind of a mature scent, sticks around and projects well, doesn't get sour pickle smell on me but can understand that it could on others skin,

Alien Man is Mugler’s response to the ambroxan bomb fragrance trend set by Sauvage. While Sauvage focuses of citrus and peppers to brighten the scent, Alien Man highlights herbaceous notes and woods for a cozier feel. If Savage is meant to emulate the open desert then Alien Man is more of a cabin in the woods. Despite this, both have that familiar fuzzy fresh vibe that defined perfumery in the 2010s. I think Alien Man unfortunately suffers from overwhelmingly high expectations. Understandably so, people were excited and expected Alien Man to redefine men’s fragrance the same way A Men did. When the scent came out and people put their noses to it they wrote it off completely. It may be Mugler’s take on Sauvage but I think it deviates enough to deserve some respect. For example, Alien Man works better in cooler milder temperatures like spring and early fall while Sauvage works in higher temperatures like summer. I think marketing may have also played a part in its reception. Despite the name, Alien Man smells very earthy and familiar. If they were to name this “Earthling” or something maybe it would match expectations. Regardless, this is a perfectly fine dumb reach freshie that has a place in the Mugler collection.

This is surprisingly nice. It's smokey sweet spicy (in that order) fragrance which to be fair won't appeal to most but it is better then a lot of what designers and niche houses are releasing now and it's surprisingly piercing, meaning it will cut trough other fragrances with ease. If you can get it for cheap and like what I described it's easily worth 20-30

I was so excited when it was announced that Mugler was releasing the male version of Alien. Sadly I was disappointed on the first spray. It was basically a rehash of Elizabeth Taylor's Passion for Men. Not avant-garde or extraterrestrial at all. Just a basic late 80's/early 90's men's designer fragrance. My one and only question about this fragrance is why not use jasmine? Jasmine is what makes Alien so hypnotic and unbelievable. It would have been far more experimental and daring to use jasmine as the main note in a male fragrance.

Dear Lord I love this frag. Having a moment after dousing myself in it on a 20°F day in NJ, 2025. They say powerhouses ended in the '80s. I don't think so. There is a new breed and this one is fierce. Love this JUICE!!!

Very synthetic, cloying, generally unpleasant.

You know what, I tried it once and I didn't like it, got a tester of it yesterday and I love it. I'll be buying a bottle of this in the future.

Totally unique perfume, one of the main reasons why I like it so much. Aromatic, woody and spicy with very good performance.

Suit Perfume. Fresh and aromatic with a smoky touch, different from other men's perfumes, formal clean man, smooth performance.

Bought the original and used it only a handful of times. The gimmicky plunger on the bottle stopped working so I had to detach it and replace it with a spray can nozzle. Over the years it's mellowed a lot but is still cloyingly sweet. I'm using it occasionally as a room freshener. I can still enjoy the scent without having to wear it.

I dunno man... I guess this is how UAP's alien leather seats smell like, lmao. Dunno if it's good or bad. It's just.. Alien.

My very first set of sample cards contained - along with many other fine fragrances - Alien Man by Mugler. I sorted eagerly through the cards to grab the Terre D'hermes, YSL and Chanel, and looking through them after I'd found the "desirables", I came across "Alien Man", I looked at it with disdain and tossed it aside. I hated the name. I hated the logo. I didn't like the bottle and I didn't like the marketing. But as I do, in my obsessive way, I slowly sniffed my way back through the line up, one by one. Regardless of what I thought of them, I gave them all further smells. Oh ... it's not too bad I guess. Days later, I reassessed and evaluated them through the drydown, and came back to it again and again ... this Alien Man ... it's actually one of the better ones. Once I decided it might be alright - I went ahead and wore this to work one day, and I decided it was a real winner. Not only did I no longer hate it, I was convinced I had to get myself a bottle of this. The opening is anise-y, vibrant mint, and kind of bubble gummy to me. When I got it on my skin, the scent was so much more complex, the idea of dill and thyme in the notes made sense to me, where they hadn't before when I only tested them on paper. But they were nothing like how I thought of them in cooking; the sweetness of the vanilla comes all the way up, and takes anything bitter or unpleasant out of those tones and makes them totally work in this opening in a way that is completely unlike any other fragrance I've smelled. Even though I can still see them for being herbs, they aren't necessarily herbaceous; that's the only way to describe it. The other elements make it comply to the theme - yet each and every one of these top notes comes through in seemingly fluctuating waves. You can perceive every note, yet it's all harmonious as well. The middle is leathery and soft. Still many of the top notes linger as the leather makes itself apparent and the harmony of notes is still baffling to me: I seriously don't understand why this works so well but it does. It is so unique and gorgeous. The dry down again sees some of those notes still linger, as the vanilla becomes more apparent the cashmere note makes it's way into the picture. This is so good. Like a theme developed early on, all the instruments in the orchestra are added in, all of them are playing their parts to bring about the fullness of the initial idea. As a musician and a visual artist, this fragrance right here is the one that told me the loudest: fragrance is an artform! When I initially saw this logo and name, I was turned away. Our olfactory senses are said to be tied very closely to the part of the brain that processes emotion. And I had a strange emotional response to this name and branding that seemingly just made me dislike the smell, but working past that ... I realized what an amazing fragrance I nearly missed out on. And I realize there could be more to it, as to why this fragrance has such a polarizing reputation. But on my skin, this is absolutely gorgeous. I also suspect that this fragrance has a good amount of naturals in it, that I think cause it to be somewhat unstable (not sure if that's technically the right word, but synthetics seem to be far more stable and linear, by contrast), because even as I wear it, so many different notes come through at any given time, it again, is not like any fragrance I've put my nose to, in that regard as well. Maybe to some people this can come off as all sorts of different (unpleasant) things. It seems like how this one is perceived is more heavily dependent on skin than most other fragrances. As it happens, the performance of this fragrance on my skin is also very good. Projection is on the high side of moderate, and scent trail/sillage is really strong on my skin. This was the first fragrance I ever wore that I could smell my own sillage after walking back through where I had previously been. This frag is also very versatile (maybe just not potent enough for winter), and as I said, super unique. I love it. Without question one of the most interesting, well-constructed, artfully made, beautiful bottles of juice I've come across. Scent is a 9.5/10. Over all 9.9/10.

Too much for my nose.

I imagine this is what the Thin Man from XCOM smells like. The most weirdo freakazoid club-esque fragrance ever made. This is for the shapeshifters and skinwalkers at the party. The guys who can shoot out their frog tounge to catch bugs. For people who stand across the street and disappear after a bus passes by. People who can control both eyes independently like a chameleon. Real cryptids. Wear this if you look like the robot from that "I Feel Fantastic" video and talk like an alien pretending to be a human. Best worn in the backrooms or any other liminal space. Uncanny valley type beat Its great.

Revisting this one to see if my impression of it has changed over the years. I think the people at Mugler (Clarins) must have thought of Back to the Future - the movie when creating this. But instead of the film itself, they choose an average movie goer with his body spray on at the cinema. Generic, dated & cheap smelling. Smell just like your average body spray in the 80s - 90s. I wonder what happened at Mugler to trigger the decision to approve this fragrance for Alien Man - one of the most anticipated fragrance from the brand.

This one feels like a bunch of paradoxical qualities that somehow coexist. Fresh but warm, pointed yet ethereal. It's a fresh, green-leaning meld of crispy notes that stop right at the line of becoming aquatic or citrusy, and linger in this green limbo of pleasant warmer notes. It has the feeling (not the scent) of biting into a green apple, the crunch of the bite and the acid juices reaching your tongue. It's not bad by any means, it's just not very exciting either. Also, I haven't seen this mentioned before, but it reminds me A LOT to Fuel for Life man by Diesel, must be the anise and lavender combo.

Alien Man is a masculine-leaning, somewhat unique, underrated, shower scented, osmanthus, anise, leathery, cashmere woody fragrance that is fantastic for a spring and fall day/night. I do agree with TBonetheFella. There are a plethora of scents happening once, but it does work indeed. It start off as a man's shower gel scent with a refreshing dill scent that turns into a powdery, creamy, woody, amber scent, where the anise and the lemon intertwine with the leather and creamy woody scent of the cashmere wood. I can see where some dudes would say, "Man, this is a bit weird and odd" because it is NOT a typical men's fragrance like Acqua Di Gio, Inventus, Invictus, or Yves Saint Laurant's LNDH, and its different versions, but it is a man's shower gel with a dill nuance that turns into something more powdery and ambery on the dry down. I like it, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in getting it. As stated above, I think this is a unisex fragrance that leans masculine. I can definitely see certain women wearing this scent and truly enjoying it. Therefore, I would consider it unisex leaning masculine, though the fragrance is called Alien Man. Nonetheless, the fragrance gets two thumbs up for me, but do not base your opinion on me. For any fragrance, read reviews before buying it, but take them with a grain of salt. Everyone has their own opinion regarding smells. Some people love a specific fragrance. Some people hate it. My advice is for you to get a sample of ANY fragrance before you ever buy it. That way, you can assess it yourself and have your thoughts, rather than strictly going off someone else's thoughts and opinions. So, do not let my opinion influence you.

I detested this scent. My husband tried it and I couldn't get past the anise. Just too much licorice and dill and not enough of the woodsy notes cashmere and leather. Of course since I hated it, I could still smell it on his pillow the following morning. Forced me to do laundry 😪

Just as Tom.Muz has said, I have also done a 180, I loathed it when I first sprayed, it smelled very sour on my skin, not quite as bad as Dunhill Century, but not far off, I had a sample spray, and today I've fallen in love with it. Very masculine and quite potent, niche like qualities. It is not a crowd pleaser, some will, I'm sure loathe it, but I've grown to love it, the drydown is excellent, that cashmere note is great. Now I love it, I see it's discontinued, and becoming very hard to get hold of, that's such a shame.
