Quasi Tiger Balm Before judging the fragrances from Oriflame, I would find it advisable and informative to read the first two paragraphs from the comment by "Yatagan" on the Oriflame fragrance "Architect". "M by Marcel Marongiu" is the first fragrance from Oriflame that I would wear. Why it is only declared as a women's fragrance is puzzling. Oriflame does not offer any unisex fragrances. "M by Marcel Marongiu" begins with a furious opening for Oriflame fragrances, with a strong sillage that lasts for at least 3 hours: A woody-bitter fragrance cocktail with eucalyptus note surprises my sense of smell. Immediately followed by resinous, balsamic, and coniferous notes. The entire fragrance is woody-resinous-medical-aromatic for a while. An incense with eucalyptus note, why not? "M by Marcel Marongiu" has something of Tiger Balm, it clears your sinuses. It may be because I have tested 19 Oriflame fragrances. All except this one smelled synthetically in the typical Oriflame way, mostly fruity more or less successfully. Some fragrances had something distinctive and there were also nice gourmands among them. But there wasn't a "real" perfume among them. All were Swedishly proper without radiance according to the motto: Just don't stand out with perfume, that's decadent, un-eco, and not "comme il faut". Meanwhile, the Oriflame fragrances themselves are very synthetic and do not smell eco-friendly at all. When you look at the prices, you can't really expect too much. However, they average around €20 per bottle, which is not the absolute lowest price level. Now, "M by Marcel Marongiu" actually smells good. It seems to me that I would react in a scent-receptive way analogously to the saying: Nice when the pain subsides - Nice, finally a real fragrance in my nose! In my opinion, "M by Marcel Marongiu" is a very masculine unisex fragrance without citrus notes. I cannot perceive any floral notes. Nor can I identify a leather note, and I cannot detect patchouli either. In the dry down, "M by Marcel Marongiu" remains woody and bitter, but the fragrance becomes calmer, with a slight creaminess of sandalwood. However, as I continue to sniff and think about this fragrance, I suspect that with "M by Marcel Marongiu", Oriflame is attempting a subtle resistance against the strict perfume prohibition in public life in Sweden. That "M by Marcel Marongiu" is allowed to smell so strong, because it not only smells like chest balm for colds but could also act like a sauna infusion. This way, one presumably does not fall under the suspicion in Sweden of having excessively doused oneself with perfume. But these are, of course, just my speculations. I have a full bottle of this and just forgot that i had it. I like the Woody smell. I think it’s more unisex or even maybe more for men. I think it’s fits more in colder weathers and on night times. Maybe not 100% my taste but i would give this a 8/10.

If anyone could sell or swap me a sample or decant, that would be absolutely lovely, as this sounds so beautiful and prices are extortionate on eBay.

It's suede, incense, smokey, sweet, i understand why everyone love this because for affordable price you get this well blended perfume but me personally can't wear this because it feels too mature for my taste, i bought simply to sniff it when i want to.

The sense of smell is so interesting. In the morning I choose my scent for the day (among the few dozen bottles that I have) and today I wanted to use Piece Unique by Gres, but for some reason I chose and used Pearles De Lalique. Before bed ,sometimes I also choose a scent for the night, and this evening I quickly picked and used M by Marcel Marongiu (again at this time). I knew that M and Piece Unique were very similar , but it just hit me that Pearles are too. The three are like sisters. Funny how I chose them instinctively, but now I realize that it is because of the rose and patchouli on a sweet base. I'll be curious to find out which is my favorite of the three. Now I'm also curious how similar are the other ones from the "reminds me of" section.

After a long time using this, I realize that I love it and Mirage EDP so much. I hope that Oriflame brings back both of them. These beautiful perfumes should be back in the catalogue. Just brilliant

17. December 2021 This fragrance has already gotten so much praise and not for nothing! It is indeed extremely well blended fragrance. At first i was afraid that it would be just a damp patchouli scent, but in fact it is a smokey suede/dates fragrance with just a hint of patchouli, so i am very happy about it. I see a lot of people compare it to Neonatura Cocoon, but they are not the same, luckily. I have Neonatura and cannot wear it, but M is totally different story. It has a resemblance yet much better and more leathery/smokey. A very niche quality, dare i say. Projection and lasting power are good as well. The only con is that it is discontinued and prices are quite high for it, yet it is worth. Very happy with my 2 bottles!

I've had this perfume for a long time, tried it as a 15 year old and thought it was too mature for me, more recently I suddenly realised that this perfume smells like a Massimo Dutti store. My brother had been trying to find a scent that resembles that store for years, and I gave "M" to him for a sniff and asked him what it smells like and he knew immediately what it reminded him of. Not sure if Massimo Dutti stores still have that distinct smell, but they used to. I personally don't like to wear this, but the scent is stunning.

M by Marcel Marongiu is the best fragrance by the Swedish brand Oriflame so far, of this I am sure. It's strong, it's demanding, it's brave. Full on leather, incense and patchouli trio is simply irresistable. And they are loud. Very LOUD. This fragrance demands to be noticed and admired. Its feminine side is created with taif rose, rose and iris- they are somewhere far in the background. M by Marcel has a great resemblence to Play Intense by Givenchy- both are from the oriental floral group, both share balsamic notes and patchouli. While Play Intense is more of a sweet-oriental-floral, M by Marcel is a smoky-leather kind of oriental. OH ORIFLAME I AM BEGGING BRING IT BACK

I am so sad that this perfume is not available anymore. It is my all-time favorite. The woody smell is intense, but not too much. Longevive, velvety, just brilliant!

MbM is very special smell. Earthy, smoky, sweet rosamber. Beautiful.

I usually wear niche fragrances but when I discover By Marcel, although it is a cheap perfume, it has become my signature. Only that Oriflame decided not to produce it anymore and I never understood why because it was such a beatiful parfume, niche like quality. Yesterday, after years of searching and smelling thousands of perfumes, I finally found the perfume that smells the same, even better (on mys skin, i don t know about others). I m talking about Van Cleef & Arpels Collection Extraordinaire Bois d'Iris, a niche perfume, a lot more expensive it s true, but finally I have find that odor after I i have craved for so many years.

Found this one by chance. Very lovely perfume, and it's also quite potent. The opening was quite sharp, caused by the absinth/incense. I could only smell a bit of rose, I suspect it gave the opening a bit of sweetness. The mid became very sweet on my skin, but the combination of incense/dates was a great one. The basenotes appeared rather quickly: suede became the main note you could smell along with the patchouli, mingled with incense and dates. Sharp, austere but warm. Quite lovely, and also quite butch/unisex. Sold it off because it reminded me too much of Bentley Intense which I also had at the time (which is a real compliment!).

To LIZZARD : It is a Swedish company - I think you will find their perfumes in all nordic countries - but probabely also in central Europe. This one is discontinued from what I know. A great perfume with an extremely beautiful leather/suede not.

katia31, I'm with you! I still have 45 ml of M and 60 ml of Mirage, but what the heck am I going to do when I run out??? :-( Oriflame doesn't know how to make business, I guess...sad!

Why do they discontinue these amazing fragrances? Can you,dear Oriflame,put this one and Mirage back in production?! Be sure,many people would be happy and you would make quite a good profit.So think about it,please.o.k.

The first thought i have is "incense". The smell is naturally good. It's not strong at all. I've been looking for this incense smell and finally attached to this. Just like others opinion, it's rather masculine and i don't think it's spicy. God, i'm so confident using this for my activity. I mean, spraying this before i get to work and hang out? It's perfect! Love the bottle too lol. Guys, what are you waiting for? If you're interested in what i've been too, then what should you do now? Marcel Marongiu is waiting for you!! ^^

Dusty-smoky, exotic fragrance, spiced dry incense, nicely sour suede and with really beautiful patch. I received it in a multiply swap and was very surprised by the quality and beauty of this fragrance, a keeper, lasts and well blended. Will be liked by those, who appreciate incense in John Galliano.

Oooh...First of all - it's a HEAVY type for sure! When I smelled it for the first time I hated it(sorry, but it's true). Anyway, after I sprayed it on my skin it smelled differently and I kinda started liking it couple of minutes later. It's definitely long lasting. It smells strong, minty, fresh and absolutely UNIQUE. It radiates some sort of strong vintage scent. I'd recommend it to 40+ confident ladies who have unique taste and like strong fragrances.

Reminds me Perles de Lalique as well... also a little bit Dior Midnight Poison, but not as much rose and not as sweet. M by Marcel is really more about patchouli. Nice though!

This is 2nd Oriflame fragrance which I liked (out of 20-something samples), but unlike Amber Elixir Night which was an instant love, M left me undecided for some time. Yes, it bears some resemblance to Yves Rocher Cocoon - I think it must be that initial blast of grassy "bitey" patchouli. But M is more complex. It reminds me of industrial style: unapologetic, functional, "raw" design with sharp lines of wood and cuts of suede. Kind of ugly/pretty. As we can see, these are present as notes, bitter and not very sweet, not made to be comforting or comfortable. (Cocoon is exactly the opposite: cozy and familiar.) M contains many "darker" notes: patchouli, wood, suede, incense and amber. Rose is listed but I can't smell it. Iris? I'm not so sure but maybe as a root. Overall M is mesmerizing and demanding. As if asking, are you smart enough to appreciate me? (What a cheek!) Must be tested before buying.

It was headake from first smell. One of the most unpleasant scents I ever had.

this perfume has character.It's a sort of strong heavy oldfashioned perfume. when I smell this I get the image of a dusty oriental bazar full of deep brown,over decorated old tapestry and dirty gold cooper trails.but that's not bad at all, because this adds a lot to it's charm and exentricity. ps/if Iwas the bottle designer, Iwould have chosen something more vintagy.Gorgeous bottle though.

It could be unisex scent.It is very powerful,almost masculine...a lot of incence and amber.Don`t buy without a try,first.

i remember my coworker trying this fragance and ask my opinion. i said i dont like this coz the smells just like an old lady. shes 30, but i think this fragnce would be suitable and the way as a lady, if this use with an age by 40. so very lady, with all wealth and glamour,,.
