This is what my floss smells like after I finish using it
It's the most evocative perfume I've ever smelled. A song I associate with it is Persephone (The Gathering of Flowers) by Dead Can Dance. Sublime.
I can’t decide if this really smells that good or if I just want to love it so much because the bottle is so pretty and I love the fragrance house. Definitely smells very green and vintage at its core to me with Lily and hints of spice and church. I never thought I was a green kinda person until this, but I love the atmosphere it sets up. My only complaint is how it really doesn’t last. I want to reapply all the time but that gets annoying and expensive.
Definitely not the funeral, abandoned stone church that people say. This is more of a medicinal metallic floral. I don't hate it but I don't love it myself, I can see how this appeals to the goth crowd. To me it smells like old hospital cleaning chemicals but that is a bit of an artistic vibe so I cant hate based on taste.
This fragrance smells like I stuck my head in a bag of carrots.
Opens with straight up lily of the valley and immediately dries down to the dusty interior or an antique shop, it fades in and out of apothecary-medicinal to lily of the valley until it dissipates. Yes it is a vintage and somber scent but no it is not a photorealistic church. That being said I do love it, if you like weird and spooky scents you will also love it.
my skin really pulls out the lily accord while maintaining the nostalgic smell of a damp stone church. i can pick up the resinous notes but they're very faint. as much as i like this i decided to pass on purchasing a full bottle but i might change my mind once i finish my decant
Wet, quiet, mournful, and cold spring scent. Funeral, abandoned stone church after mourners depart. It's definitely raining. Beautiful but impossible to wear, reminds me of deep haunted melancholic grief. The realization your loved one is gone forever after the funeral is over and you’re all alone. This one makes me want to weep. Intoxicatingly unique, I can't stop returning to it. Even though wearing it smells wrong, I still can't get enough of it. Pine and easter lily are the primary notes on my skin, with damp moss and stone throughout. Incense afterthought. Alternatively, also smells like raw carrots pulled straight from the wet earth. Uncanny.
one of the few green-centric fragrances that i can’t get enough of. cold spring water trickling over stone. literally like taking a deep breath of crisp air while sitting at a pond. really beautiful
Damp and green. The type of fragrance that transports you somewhere when you first smell it. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an interesting green scent. It’s damp and wet earth and florals.
The opening of Relique d’Amour is breathtaking. For a few fleeting minutes, it smells like standing inside an abandoned stone church after a thunderstorm. Wet stone walls, damp earth, cold mineral water seeping through ancient foundations, crushed green leaves, and a faint trace of incense lingering in the air. It feels atmospheric, melancholic, and almost haunted. This is the scent that made me fall in love. Unfortunately, on my skin that magical opening doesn’t stay for long. As the fragrance develops, the mineral and earthy facets quickly retreat and the white florals begin to dominate. The lily and jasmine become increasingly prominent, softening the composition and pulling it into a sweeter, more traditionally floral direction. What started as a mysterious, damp, green ruin slowly transforms into a bouquet of white flowers. This is not necessarily a flaw of the perfume itself, but rather a reminder of how individual skin chemistry can be. My skin tends to amplify sweetness and florals, often pushing fragrances away from their darker, earthier aspects. The result is pleasant and elegant, but much less unique than the opening promised. If the opening lasted throughout the entire wear, this would be one of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever encountered. Those first moments capture the smell of wet stone, moss, rain-soaked earth, and forgotten chapels with remarkable realism. For lovers of green, mineral, atmospheric fragrances, the opening alone is worth experiencing. I only wish the ghostly church remained longer before the flowers took over. I will continue looking for earthy scent to add to my collection this one is not the one for me. On the clothes though- wow. The sleeve of my jacket still faintly smells like that amazing opening days after! Rating: 8/10 overall Opening: 10/10 Drydown on my skin: 6.5/10
I bought this as a blind buy as my first bottle from Oriza, and it's the coolest, most gorgeous perfume I have. You definitely feel the quality and complexity that is put into this bottle, it's amazing from the inside and out. First of all, the notes of moss and earthy dampness is the most prominent parts of this scent and is what makes it really smell like an old church. When first sprayed on my skin, its immedietly peppery and spicy, and quite intense. After 10 minutes or so you feel the damp moss, like a forest after rain, and aged stonewalls. Its a comforting, calm scent that is reminicent to old castle/church walls or vintage clothing. When its finally settled, the fresh, white flowers along with a clean, fresh laundry-smell remains and its amazing. On me, it smells almost like how L'eau d'Issey pour Homme by Issey Miyake smells on my boyfriend, but more delicate and feminine. I usually go for musky, lightly floral and clean scents and this fits right in. The notes of wood and incense puts a nice spice to notes that usually smells very soft and subtle. It smells like a room in a abandoned castle that has been infused with years of incense, during the fall and with open windows so that the cold humid air have made every wall damp with dew and moss. It's beautiful.
IF ANYBODY HAS A BOTTLE THEY WANT TO TRADE, PLEASE MESSAGE ME. VERY INTERESTED.
If we stop and think about it, the world of perfumery feels trully magical. The way perfumers can evoke imagery through clever manipulation of aromachemicals and ingredients is similar to magicians using slight of hand and engineering to make something seem otherwordly and larger then life. Unfortunately, just as learning the secret behind a magic trick ruins the childlike joy that the act brings, so can experience with perfumes be detrimental after a certain point. As you smell hundreds and hundreds of creations, you start seeing the notes or “frameworks” behind the intended imageries. You start seeing behind the curtains, discovering the hidden mechanisms and elements that make up the tricks. Suddenly the “magic” no longer feels magical. Its gone, and sometimes one wishes to erase their own memories and knowledge to bring the joy and magic back. Relique D’Amour by Oriza L. Legrand came to my attention through the endless TikTok reels of gothic/melancholic scents. The perfume manages to fool me enough for the magic to work and im very glad for that because its a rare occurance. Simply put, this is stunning perfumery in the genre of Passage D’Enfer and De Profundis. To my nose it opens up with a realistic scent of pinewood that is shortly followed by a softly sweet, delicate Lily. The pinewood opening achingly reminds me of my late grandparent’s cellar where they kept all sorts of stuff, old furniture and they even made a living space out of it during the hot summer months. All of this is joined by a natural green, stemy component reminiscent of a florist’s shop, with a coldness accompanying it. This floral greenness is present in De Profundis aswell but less palpable. In the long drydown, just like in Passage D'Enfer, the ethereal lily is what remains. Compared to the slightly more feminine leaning Passage D’Enfer, it feels more genderless and i purposefully avoided using the word unisex because much of the male audience would easily label such perfumes as distinctly feminine. The magic lies in the fact that Relique D’Amour created a scent in which i don’t see the seams, the cogs, the nuts and bolts. Whilst the accords are there, their naturalness results in a scentprofile that is an ambiance, a mood or an image rather then a carefully put-together engineering piece that attempts to convey something natural but fails to be completely authentic. Mentally, it doesn’t evoke a sad or melancholic image for me, rather a nostalgic one. It also makes me imagine being in a clearing in the middle of a dense pine forest on a warm summer afternoon. A place where i sit down to rest and meditate, only to encounter a supernatural, wisp-like being that radiates a cooling effect that contrasts with the warmth of the sun. Its a peacefull encounter, like a revelation that confirms that life isn’t just about blood, flesh and bone and that there’s more to it. An encounter that makes you want to run to the world and speak about it, but you don’t out of fear of being seen as mentally ill so you decide to keep it to yourself. An encounter that brings you peace, knowing that your faiths and beliefs aren’t empty wishfull thinking. Its a quintessential perfume for introverts, for those with a delicate enough personality to appreciate it. For those who prefer a lonely stroll in a tucked away park or the quietness of an empty church over the buzzing life around a downtown cafe or loud and debaucherous nightlife.
The most haunting, beautiful fragrance that I cannot bear to smell for more than a few minutes yet crave to smell over and over again. Gives me literal goosebumps. The scent feels layered and complex in a way that instantly transports me to a derelict church overgrown with moss. As the perfume develops I can envisage tendrils of incense at an abandoned altar, ripe fresh undergrowth, and the malingering of ghosts.
I really wanted to enjoy this fragrance because everyone keeps raving about this one being a melancholic scent. I think I tried to trick myself into liking it - people around me seemed to enjoy it, that's for sure. Do I like it or do I not like it? Do I like it or do I not like it? Back and forth back and forth. My friend said it smelled like a tranquil spa experience. I think it smells like I need to mop the floors on this church that needs to be kept clean at all times. So you see me walking with a bucket and a mop that is filled to the brim with bleach. And then you can hear me BLOP hit the mop onto the shiny floor. idk.. But I agree with other reviewers as well, feels very cold. I have never experienced something this cold before.
Opens like a wet novel. Descends into a beautiful mind of distinct madness. Love.
I've not smelt anything quite like this. Not gonna lie, reviews on social media got me really intrigued and I finally got to visit the boutique in Paris last month. The vibes were comparable to De Profundis by Serge Lutens, although De Profundis features chrysanthemum notes rather than lilies. Both are melancholic fragrances, but Relique d'Amour feels a lot less severe. It was less incense-forward than I had anticipated. The perfume opens with blast of pepper and lilies, and what smelt a bit like water sitting in the vase of wilting flowers. After the first couple of minutes, the smell of rain-soaked granite and moss-laced grout lines became apparent, reminding me of crypts. On my skin, the perfume dries down to a subtle, sweet lily scent. It's such a beautiful fragrance to wear on rainy days.
has such a nice open room vintage smell. still too subtle however
Wanted to love it. Smells like mold.
There’s a mouldy dishwasher at work that smells EXACTLY like this
Musty. Almost Cucumber. It smells like musty but clean linen. Green. Lily. Fleeting.
soo beautiful but disappears within an hour :(( i will probably buy the room spray to at least make my bedroom smell like this
God, how I love this fragrance! there is something endlessly unique about it and so captivating, from the delicate lilies to the cold incense, it comes across as so melancholic. Relique D'Amour tells the story of someone confronting the ghosts of their past in an ancient, rain-battered chapel, longing for repentance...
I was shocked by how much the opening smells like carrots. Then a bouquet of pine and lilies join. A clean bed sheet covers them up and they all get rained on. It's lovely for a couple of minutes, but then you're left with only a waxy lily and the bed sheet. You smell like a very clean, very nice, and very sad hotel. I don't think this fragrance lives up to the intrigue, but there is something melancholy about it. A delicate and clean woody floral scent.
This has a very distinct smell of old churches and old museums that I love. Almost like wet stones? Musky and fresh and lovely, this is a super cool and unique fragrance to me
Unfortunately the lily note is completely invisible to my nose here. To me it smells exactly like an abandoned, cold stone church. All I get are damp, raw stones mixed with a sweet, dusty, and almost musty undertone that I found quite off-putting. Had high hopes for it as I would like to explore more lily fragrances beyond my favorite Baiser Vole.
The fragrance of an old chapel of a Cistercian abbey. Cold stone walls covered with damp moss. Waxed wood of the altar and old pews ornate with carvings. Linseed oil in lamps. Air smelling of incense and myrrh. But how fresh and spicy the smell of white royal lilies on this background! Subtle floral scent with green accents of leaves and powdery touches of yellow pollen. The beam of light breaks through the stained glass and illuminates this olfactory tumult of feelings varying from exaltation to humility and back. The silence which creates a sense of the divine call. This was the blurb presenting Relique when it was issued in 2012, adapting a formula of the very first 1900s. Why do I love it? Because it has the most interestingly weird Lutens's twist on white lily. At first sniff: olibanum! A white incense with a dusty and aloof very high church feeling. It is enriched by a HUGE dose of black pepper and very real and green pine note mixed with freshly crushed herbs and some floral notes, with the company of some aldehydes. I have to admit that this opening takes my breath away. IG @alexolympia6 The troop’s rear guard is quickly brought up by a tidal wave of dust and white incense: olibanum and opoponax infused with the dust of ages in a very old monastery filled with parchment scrolls. Black pepper is sprinkled all over the top of this ancient, olfactory tapestry, while underneath lurks the slow start of something floral. Suddenly, a wave of sweet, dewy, pollen-laden white lilies rolls over the intense cocktail of black pepper, dust motes, and dry, cold, white, slightly soapy High Church incense. Relique d’Amour is suddenly transformed into something very different, centered on a dewy, sometimes dry, sometimes metallic, lily infused with incense. To me, it’s unusual the way the traditionally indolent white flowers have had their syrupy sweetness and narcotic opulence dried out by cold incense. The combination of lilies blended with dust, sweet pollen, old wood, slightly honeyed, waxed wood, and undertones of soapiness feels like a complex set of astute blendings. Quite original.
Ancient stone steps that are wet from the rain. Or the mossy, slightly mildewy scent of smaller boulders in a creek - a reminder of how old places are - not built places, but natural ones. It is true that this experience of damp stone and the humid, mossy, ethereal feelings it evokes is short lived. It lasts about 20 minutes. If you spray yourself 50 times, you will might get a few hours but then the experience will be ruined. The longer phase is the lily drydown. I've never been a fan of lilies, but it is perfectly done in this fragrance. I also love the bottle with the tassel.
When I first smelt this is was a bit muddled. And musty. I’m a green frankincense addict so I expected to adore it but it was simply okay. Let the sample sit for a while and returned to it. Weeeoww. I’ve been kicking myself for not grabbing a bottle when people were selling the older ones for super cheap last yearish. No clue what that was about tbh…. But anyways I really don’t need anymore frankincense bottles but there’s something really precious about this girl. I feel like a really pious child with it on. Healed and unbothered by others and their desires. I can’t tell u what Lillie’s smell like but the floral here is white pure and light I feel the soft lips of their petals on my skin
