Stercus

Very interesting work. The opening is a little bit harsh, but after about 30 minutes it changes in a good way. It becomes a little sweet, but not in a gourmand way. Oud plays a significant role here, and in general, oud is a very strong note. Some people perceive an animalic or even fecal smell in perfumes that contain oud, but here, in combination with everything else, it has its own sweet and bitter character. Regarding the fecal note, nowadays most people do not seem to catch that smell. From my knowledge, however, older bottles were more fecal and different, although the company says that the perfumer did not change the formula. Longevity: good, 8+ hours

looooove this. really nice take on oud. i dont get fecal at all. the almond is sweet but not cloying, and goes well with the aldehyde notes, makes it feel cleaner in a way. the aldehydes remind me of older perfumes so it makes this one feel a lot more mature in a good way. the rose being there also helps balance it out; i enjoy it a lot since it is very subtle. it definitely leans more masculine for me but i could 100% see someone more feminine wearing this and working for them. if you want an oud and almond scent thats well balanced and not cloying, this is a good option!

Orto Parisi Stercus is honestly really bad like, very bad. Some people talk about its powdery side, the almond note, and even a kind of sweetness, but I genuinely don’t understand what they’re smelling. To me, it smells like street food from India even though I’ve never eat it! That’s exactly the image it gives me. I actually liked Megamare a lot, so my expectations for this were pretty high :( But this was a big disappointment. I’ve ask a lot of people smell it too, and not a single person liked it. This fragrance isn't even artistic to me just no. Just ass.

Smells like spiced chai, I love it!

I've only worn this for one day, but for a good 9 or so hours I'd describe the scent as sweet, musky, and earthy. After that -- I can't lie, it smells exactly like butthole. A clean butthole with no outright fecal notes, but if you've ever gotten frisky enough to have your nose all up in there, you'll know exactly what I mean. By the time it dried down to butthole scent territory, it was no longer projecting very much and the scent itself is inoffensive enough that I'm pretty sure it was unnoticeable to the people around me, so I'd say it's still a pretty wearable perfume, but like. Fair warning.

Oud, spices, almond, cedar and slightly musky. The notes listed feel pretty spot on. I definitely don’t find this challenging or fecal. Unfortunately my sample bottle broke so I poured some on a tester and threw it out. Strangely enough it’s not very strong to my sniffer and I had to try really hard to be able to smell it. I did get an impression of a full bodied, rich scent. Dark and woodsy. Brings to mind a deep brown mahogany if it were a color.

The opening is so good, so much almond and a slightly powdery vanilla, I wish it was longer. The drydown and the evolution is pretty good too, animalic and darkly sweet. There's no poop or other stuff like that in this perfume and it's a bit similar to boccanera. This is the best gualtieri fragrance in my opinion

one of those ones where u need to smell it to understand it. this scent is very unique, very smooth, it is brown, it isnt dark. honestly, done so fucking well. the oud the almond the rose the leather. u will not understand this scent until u smell it. u should like it but the only reason i wouldnt recommend a blind buy is that u just will not expect this smell. but man is it good. id say this is in the rotation with ur daily scent. i own pardon, stercus and a couple others i could choose to wear when i go out in the day. but man its smooth it gets uplifted by something it may be the almond, but sadly bcs they dont release real notes we wont know, but thats beside the point. none of these scents are what u expect really but yeah this shit is good dude. smell it.

sweet semi dark chocolate, black agar givaudan ( a synthetic oud accord that is also used in black afgano), soft creamy woodiness, slight bitter spice cabinet like feel and lots of leathery dark castoreum. it smells like sweet musky lush chocolaty woods to me, so addictive ! also i really don't get any connection between the scent and the name, 0 fecal qualities to my nose.

Although not one of the listed notes, I get synthetic cherry from this directly after application. Overall, it's a bit too cluttered for my taste, with sweetness most pronounced. Feels like it wants to be everything all at once: oud, fruit, animalic, sweet, leather, etc. The oud and faint animalic aspects stick around after the dry down and it feels less chaotic and more pleasant after about an hour of wear. Not something I'll buy again. Strong caution against blind buying.

To me is smells like dry woods with a hay like quality to it, almost like the inside of a farmhouse but maintained. This is not offensive or harsh smelling in any type of way. Just a dry woody dusty bit of a bitter almond smell.

I smell a dry woody almond smell, that reminiscent of a well kept farm? Also reminiscent of fresh hay with wooden interior of a farmhouse.

Powdery sweet oud. Shares the vibe of something like Chergui layered with a subtle (but impactful) phenolic accord, which really skews the balance. I find this interesting but also a tad nauseating. The usual Gualtiery amberwoods backbone is also not helping it by any means.

A pleasant fragrance but not my preference. Stercus is a woody almond scent, vanillic and almost powdery during the opening, surprisingly with mild boozy facets too but these aren't long lived. The almond note is the typical syrupy, floral almond I've seen in other fragrances (Fucking Fabulous, Sirenide, Delphinus, Semence Douce) but it's handled very well here, I never found it cloying or nauseating. I get no oud in here at all but I think I'm becoming desensitized to it from all these oud fragrances I've worn over the past few months. This is woody at the base, though, maybe a bit more sandalwoody to my nose? I also don't find this spicy during the opening like other people say, but I do find this a bit spicy during the dry down where the scent becomes a slightly metallic and spicy musky scent with nuances from the almond from the opening. In the end my biggest gripe with Stercus is the fact it's an almond fragrance as it's a note I feel lukewarm about at best and very repulsed by at worst. Something else that's also noteworthy is this is missing the same signature sharp musk/amber base from the Orto Parisi line, which is a big plus on my books. I find this unisex, very wearable and inoffensive but I think I'm long past the point where I'm in touch with what's actually wearable in public and what's something *I'd* wear in public. Performance is good but I expected this to be stronger. Projection was moderate with a moderate to light sillage, but to be fair I think I undersprayed to be cautious if this was too strong and in case I hated the almond. Longevity is a good 8 hours but it's not that strong on my arms anymore.

Smells like LUSH Lord of Misrule's deeper, darker, more animalistic cousin. Spicy, almondy, addictive, and totally sexy. Driving down a dirt forest service road in a 80s ford, leather gloves reach into a dirty flanel jacket pocket and pull out bazooka bubblegum that's been next to a can of tobacco. You sit on a freshly cut cedar stump, only now noticing the dry piles of dung from free-ranged cattle.

There is a specific, unholy relief in letting the mundane mask slip. In the current society we define this status as "goblin mode": a feral retreat into the dimly lit corners of the self where the laundry remains unfolded, the crotch is left unwashed, the blue light of the screen is the only sun, and societal expectations are replaced by a mellowly comfortable, musky rot. Stercus is that transition captured in a brown juice, or at least this is what the perfumer wants you to initially believe. Alessandro Gualtieri isn't interested in sensibilities. Frequently, with his work he depicts "an impression" of the scents of our bodies and raw nature. He thrives in contrast, but at the same time he is coherent in his overall narrative. In fact, when I met him a couple of months ago, he was wearing a vest embroidered with an intricate pattern of cocks… Going back to Stercus: it opens with an intentional almond and heliotrope overload (do you remember Pegasus?). Uninitiated noses may interpret this as a “fecal shock”, but this sensation vanishes rather quickly. The woodiness that follows is dark-er, slightly charred and accented by a mild lactonic sweetness that smooths the composition's edges. The development is a slow descent. After Gualtieri's clever intro gimmick, 30 minutes in the hearth of Stercus is revealed. Dry chocolatey leather accompanied by his signature resinous "oud" adjacent base. The scent will develop creamier, as it becomes more intimate. Turns of that the goblin is more socially acceptable than savage.

Stercus is delightfully sweet, smooth and unique. If you truly want fecal, try Dusita's Oudh Infini. Both are in my top ten of all time, but the Laotian oud in the Dusita really takes getting used to. Also, I wish the rose was toned down. It's perfect in Stercus. Like all OP's, it's overpriced, but very enjoyable if you're on the hunt for something potent, different, and wearable.

This is a nice, spicy and sweet fragrance but not too spicy to the point where it's traditionally masculine

Oud sweet almonds. MMMMM MMMMM. This is not fecal at all, not to me. But i rarely pick up the indolic note on perfumes, if i do i tend to like it. Just know its really good and dont let the marketing scare you. Its mostly sweet caramelized almonds. Woody, roots. Not spicy really but definitely sweet. Yknow that guy that makes ice cream flavored with different wood and then uses the same wood as a bowl and spoon for the ice cream? I wanna see him do this but an icecream that tastes like this and the bowl is this and so is the spoon

Nose Note #849 Well, I expected something else. I wanted this to be what the name reads - "dung", instead I just got another Black Afgano-alike perfume... Black Afgano made somewhat more palatable, with a generous amount of almond and an alcohol infusion. Does not smell like shit at all, what a shame... What does already smell like shit is Cuoium - the smell of a rich man having shat himself in tweed trousers (apparently only me and my wife share this sensation, everyone else genuinely thinks it smells good, sophisticated, manly, tobacco or leather-like). So, Stercus. Imagine Black Afgano, but not so herbal, not so thick (but nonetheless thick), perhaps not so cloying, but overall remaining Black Afgano. Like a dupe of Black Afgano or an almond flanker. Or imagine this - Gualtieri making a flanker to Tom Ford Oud Wood. I refuse to name it something crazy. It's much more down to earth than Black Afgano. This is genuinely wearable. And as always - super strong, very projecting, but not a daily fragrance obviously. It requires the wearer to have some experience and it wears a bit heavy and tiresome. Damn, I'm still waiting for a perfume to literally smell like shit... 7.1/10, a bit too liquor-like for my taste and a bit too in your face

Just blind bought this having heard all the horror stories and was prepared for the worst stinky fecal oud but....no the guy below me is tripping out of his mind. (Also another case of people using AI to write their opinion for them which is beyond concerning and moronic :p) There is genuinely nothing repulsive or animalic (let alone poopy) about it at all. Smells like a soapy oud with a hint of something almondy and some vanilla. Quite pleasant and reserved. It is nowhere near as potentially offensive as Cuoium or Megamare (and I love both of those). I think it would only offend a really untrained basic nose that is used to basic designer freshies, but even then....it smells really pleasant especially in the air and sillage so that likely isn't even true. Just goes to show how much of an affect marketing has on the average consumer lol.

Let’s stop sugarcoating it: Stercus smells like the raw, unwashed reality of the human body. It is the unapologetic scent of a rectum and fermented manure. It’s the smell of biological decay and primal waste trapped in a bottle. Most people will gag, and they should—it’s repulsive, it’s vile, and it’s hauntingly intimate. This isn’t 'perfume' it’s an olfactory assault that forces you to face the most disgusting parts of being an animal. Only for those who want to smell like the absolute end of the digestive tract

This, of course, smells nothing like the name would suggest. But you gotta give it to the marketing team. The scent reminds me of Boccanera, and kind of smells like a more wearable, lighter Terroni. It's quite dusty, the oud is detectable and not skanky. It has some sweetness, a pinch of almond, and a touch of smoke. Also, I find it (relatively) easy to wear. Really enjoying this one.

I think one of the most underrated bottles from the brand. Stercus is a work of art that blends the nature of its materials and its theme with brilliant execution. The overall vision is one of unified contrast, as we can deduce from the limited marketing material for the fragrance: "sweetness that attracts ... animalic that offends ... end and beginning". This contrast can also been seen more broadly in the name and theme, Stercus, meaning manure, is "a natural way to fertilize the soil." Soil, being both end and beginning, where the seed sprouts and the body lies, is the great equalizer of the highest contrast we as humans encounter: life and death. And in Stercus I find both a softness and coldness. It imparts a feeling of tenderness that the nascent seed can take root in, as well as the harsh and deathly chill of the ground. Even in the material of the fragrance this contrast is apparent, with the lightest and most effervescent top note of Aldehydes, deep into the swirling darkness of Oud, the theme of unified contrast persists. Not easily worn, though I have the privilege of working a dirty job, and thus dirty scents mix nicely with the grime I encounter. This is anti-luxury perfume and one of the most unique and artistic scents I have encountered. Worth exploring as an artistic study or wearing in gentle humility.

This is in 9th place in my personal ranking of the whole Orto Parisi line. Now, despite everything from the name and the marketing telling you that this will smell like poop, this doesn’t smell like poop. I would say this is one of the times that the notes on Fragrantica matches generally what I smelt. It's more of a sweet, powdery, and slightly dark oud scent that actually uses natural oud. Just like Seminalis, this scent isn't a recreation of a smell, just an inspiration.

Opens with an aldehydic almond, but then dries down to a fairly ordinary musky, dark oud wood. You can kinda work out the rose note and vanilla facet, but this also has a profile that resembles Red Colorado / Black Lacquer, in that it resembles a cut OSB/plywood board (probably just the cedar here), but I can't tell any leather being present here. It's definitely a nuanced oud approach of these frags but in any case, it doesn't pique my interest to buy a full bottle.

To me, this smells like a bathroom after you've done your business and used freshening spray. I'm sure it's fine for someone, but it's not for me.

I wish I could smell this again for the first time because my nose is so trained I don’t get any of the poop anymore. I miss the poop. King blue is far poopier if we’re being real. And I say this in a positive way
