One of my first niche bottles, I even ended up getting 2. Definitely not for the untrained Gen Zs or Gen Alphas and even Gen Ys may struggle with this complexity. Those who are more mature minded and 'been there done that' peeps will appreciate what Layton Exclusif can offer and wear it with real confidence. One of its kind.

I've smelled Layton and this one, Exclusif, and Exclusif to my nose distinctively reminds original Old Spice from the 90's I used to wear. It has some heaviness, woodiness. Where Layton is light enough to wear on a daily basis, sexy, women would like that, Exclusif on the other hand is suitable for men 50+. I would chose Layton over this.

I’m convinced everyone with a bad review bought a fake with shit juice… cause no way do they genuinely think that of this beauty

WAYYYYY too animalic! This fragrances odour smells like burnt car tire mixed with the hellspawn of civet. The pungency filled my nose so at least the projection was there. The longevity made my eyes fill with the tears of regret and pain this fragrance brings. If you like to smell like dusty, leather madness, road tires then this is for you- however be warned.

Straight burnt rubber and poo. May have gotten a bad batch but a someone who is partial to an oud, this is woeful.

La fragranza molto buona ma purtroppo non dura nulla, mi dispiace...

Apparently there are over 400 different kinds of genetic scent profiles a person can have. Within those, variations are endless. Whichever one I have, I love this fragrance. It's my favorite fragrance of all time. I don't find it polarizing but could see how it might act that way for some. It works well with my skin. It's not mass appealing like the original but I'm fine wearing this any chance I get. Unfortunately I can only wear a few months out of the year because of the hot weather I'm in.

Just okay. To my nose it's essentially Interlude Black Iris with more animalics and less balls. Never smelled the original Layton before so maybe my opinion would be a bit different if I had that as a reference point. Dries down into something pleasant but easily forgotten. Not awful by any means, but would I pay over $200 for this? God no. Glad I got a little sample from a recent trade to try out, but I feel like my bottle of Interlude Black Iris fills this spot in my collection so much better. I could also almost smell a tiny bit of Bvlgari Man in Black in here, but that's a very distant comparison.

I prefer the charm of Layton over Layton Exclusif. I feel that there are many notes crammed into one fragrance, yet the result is not very refined. Exclusive editions are not always an improvement; sometimes, they are even entirely different. Not negative, just different.

First off I love PDM, I own 17 of them, love them, wear them all regularly, EXCEPT THIS ONE! I was fooled by the opening, very similar to Layton which I love, but as the scent matures on the skin the scent smells like dirt and mold, incredibly earthy. The animatic notes are too much and very forward, feels like I’m wearing animal musk getting ready for a hunt. I’ve tried to go back several times but ultimately can’t get behind this one.

I picked this beauty up for father’s day for my husband. He absolutely loves it. It beats Layton by a mile, especially with longevity and silage. His skin brings out all the citrus and watery notes of the opening with the apple making it exceptionally fresh. I don’t get much if any almond in the opening, unless that’s the creamy smell of the freshness. The heart has the civet smell, but it’s tame. (Pun intended!). The animalic smell is nuanced by the geranium and the lavender with just a hint of spice. This is where it starts to warm up that freshness. The heart lasts for a moderate amount of time before the vase kicks in. On the dry down I get that spice amped up by the oud/vanilla/sandalwood. My nose can’t really pick out the coffee. The amber helps to round out the spice but really it’s all about the Wood.. 😉 I love it. It reminds me of a career driven gentleman in a Versace suit in a corner office somewhere in Times Square. Definitely a great gift for the man in your life. Not a summertime wear. Early spring or fall. Possibly winter.

Intoxicating stuff. The menthol complaints are overstated, just smells like a fougere in the opening. The drydown is a creamy cheese cake, i would've opted for something dark and smoky but it’s nice enough I guess

Beautiful Civet-oud-almond perfume. The civet makes oud more likeable, with some harmonious aromatics around. Very easy to like oud. Must try. Superb performance.

The only frag that makes me open the cap just to smell it every once in a while 😁 Keep the hate coming . I don’t want too many people catching on.

Анонім

This shit blows ass, and smells CHEAP. It should be illegal to even buy this

Анонім

Matured into Ani type vanilla. So nice, got the cheese cake, got the quality, turned smooth gourmand to the fullest.

Анонім

Let's face its overpriced. Does that make it a bad scent? No, its beautiful. Luckily got it half price on ebay. I own Layton and Layton Exclusif. IMO very similar apart from the civet. Layton when you are out for a few beers, Exclusif when your out with a lady or wanting to attract a lady. Layton for boys, Exclusif for men over 40.

Анонім

Very woody and masculine pretty different from the original Layton. Very well suited for going put for dinner or an event in the winter time in my opinion. Not everyone can pull it off though, it leans more mature. I ended up selling mine because it felt better suited for an older guy.

Honeestly, shame shame and more shame on Parfums de Marly for calling this Layton. THIS IS NOTHING SIMILAR or even in the same category of Layton. This is prime example of companies banking on selling "exclusif" and "absolu" and "extrait" versions of a frgrance for a higher price. I bet if this was called something else it wouldn't sell because who wants to smell like this except your weird uncle who lives in a cabin. Terrible fragrance. Nothing sweet creamy light fresh about it. All wood and leather and that's it

The notes listed on Fragrantica are totally inaccurate.

R#1 A word of advice: this is for a more mature crowd. As someone in their early 20s, I got lucky getting it from an older relative, and for first impressions, everyone I've shown it to immediately responds with, "It smells like a grandpa." TO CLARIFY that is the initial reaction of it when first sprayed. This fragrance is highly dependent on your skin chemistry, and I do not recommend spraying it on clothes, especially in high heat and humidity, because it will become a very sour and uncomfortable smell. When correctly applied and depending on the individual, it first starts off as animalic for everyone. But as I've tested, it seems that after the first hour, it begins to lose the animalic note, and by the third hour the sillage goes in between intimate - moderate. In the dry down for younger people, it becomes a beautifully creamy and ambery scent with subtle hints of incense and floral. For older folks, it stays generally similar, but the animalic note stays longer and becomes much smokier, which makes it retain what a lot of people would describe as the "grandpa smell." However, it still has a beautifully complex scent profile that makes you want to smell it over and over again all day which is wonderful because the longevity is eternal. Overall, I wouldn't particularly suggest this if you're trying to get compliments from strangers. This feels more like a scent you'd wear around someone you're very close and comfortable with, someone who doesn't mind the "stinky" parts of you, who appreciates you for all you are, and loves it. FYI after being accustomed to the scent, you can immediately smell the wonderful dry down but sadly the animalic note will be present in the top notes.

This is a strange one. Not in a unique way. Strange as in (the kid in the sandbox no one wants to play with) strange. Musty attic smell?

Анонім

This is a secret dark weapon in a sea of sweet syrups that wash over a hot sweaty man on man dancefloor. Tends to bring out animalistic behavior and attention. For this reason it works great at night, 365.

I’d love for people to read the notes of fragrances if they’re sensitive to anything that’s not vanilla, bergamot and amber. It’s an oudy, animalic take on Layton. How you’ll react to it depends on how much you like oud, leather and civet. Not blind but safe(which is obvious, and the reason I got a sample), but how it smells is completely predictable if you know Layton and you read the notes. Price point is the biggest issue for me, but this smells how I expected it to. Very high quality as well.

Анонім

Awesome. Oddly enough the first time I smelled it I found it unpalatable because of the strong oud note but a year later coming back to it I literally don't smell any animalic notes in it anymore. It just feels like a darker, less sweet and manlier Layton to me. I wouldn't say it's worth the price uptick though but you'll have to decide I guess.

The opening on Layton Exclusif is one of the more unique ones that I have smelled. The first thing that I smell on this opening is a woody note with hints of oud in it. There is also a very nice coffee bean note as it dries down a little. Behind all of this though there is a stange strong very pungent musky or animalistic note that radiates from the background of this fragrance. After the first 15 minutes this all mixes together into a very nice scent profile with the coffee and animalistic notes taking the lead. Performance on Layton Exclusif was quite good in both longevity and projection. Longevity wise I got 9 hours of total wear time with about 7 hours of that wear being strong. It stuck around fairly well on my clothes as well, actually fading a bit faster than it did off my skin. I would give it an 8/10 for longevity. The first 7 hours had very strong projection, slightly within my arms length. The last two hours saw it fade to more of a skin scent and by the end of that time it has basically vanished from my skin. I would say a 7/10 here. Layton Exclusif is a very good smelling within itself. The hard part for me is that while it smells good, it doesn’t feel particularly wearable to me and I don’t think I would really reach for this one often if I did at all. I like the musky wood coffee combination that I smell here but there is just something slightly off about the animalistic notes here that just isn’t entirely pleasent and stings my nose slightly. Layton Exclusif just feels like it slightly more into the category of art and experience then wearable fragrance. While I very much enjoyed it for these qualities and it was a fun experience to smell it, I’m going to rate it a 5/10 overall because it doesn’t feel particularly applicable as a wearable fragrance.

It's ok. On my skin it smells like a citronella candle, so I started spraying it in my shoes just to freshen them up. But in the air from a distance it smells nice. So I guess it's the sillage that counts. Worth buying a travel size, but not a full bottle. I like original Layton better.

Derimsi koku ve hafif hayvansılık hoşuma gitmedi I dont like the leathery slightly animalistic notes

Terrible. Not sure why it is rated so high. The OG is much better.
