Pegasus Exclusif

This one smells like Far Away from Avon but made for men.

It still holds my No.1 PDM spot, no contest. I even hunted down a back‑up bottle from the original release. It’s oudy, woody, almondy, spicy - what more could you ask for? Pegasus Exclusif doesn’t need to shout status or lean on a flashy label. It speaks for itself even when you're wearing Fruit of the Loom T-Shirt for a night out.

Kind of smells like weed, unironically

Overall, when directly compared, the scent profiles for PDM's Pegasus Exclusiv and Detour Noir Intense by Al Harmain are fairly similar, with both primarily being spiced powder scents. However, while both fragrances have aspects of sweetness, primarily from vanilla and amber, Pegasus Exclusiv's added notes of smoky wood (guiac, oud) do make it the smokier, woodier, and drier of the two. The exact ratio of spice notes also varies somewhat. Detour Noir Intense is more peppery, Pegasus Exclusiv leans more towards cardamom. For most, the main point of distinction and preference between the two will likely be whether or not one desires that element of oud and wood smoke in the fragrance. Of course, the differences between Pegasus Exclusiv and the earlier Pegasus are much more profound. The great increase in wood, smoke and spice notes between this flanker and the original makes the two scents largely dissimilar.

Taking a quick stop back at the house of Parfums de Marly, today I'm checking out Pegasus Exclusif, a fragrance that was requested quite a bit. A number of people have mentioned that they really enjoy the almond-vanilla character of the original Pegasus but find it a little too sweet or even slightly feminine leaning. Pegasus Exclusif is often described as the more masculine, powerful, charismatic, and assertive take on the original, so let's see what it has to offer and whether it might suit your tastes better. The opening of Pegasus Exclusif shares some familiar DNA with the original Pegasus, giving you a bright burst of bergamot alongside powdery, vanillic heliotrope and a pleasant warmth from the cardamom and pink pepper. Where the two begin to separate is in the backbone of the fragrance. Pegasus Exclusif immediately introduces a darker character with subtle leathery nuances that add depth right from the start. There's a lot going on in the opening, but it comes together surprisingly well. After about 30 to 45 minutes, the almond becomes much more prominent. I was actually concerned this note might be toned down in this flanker, but thankfully that's not the case. The sweet, nutty almond remains one of the stars of the show, accompanied by a masculine, powdery lavender and rich floral touches from the geranium and jasmine. Around the one-and-a-half to two-hour mark is when the base really starts to shine. The vanilla, guaiac wood, and oud all become more noticeable. The woods provide a rich yet dry balsamic sweetness, while the oud contributes just a hint of smokiness. It's not an overly animalic oud by any means; instead, it's smooth, refined, and fits the composition very well. As it continues to dry down, the amber and creamy sandalwood become more apparent, further enhancing those warm balsamic qualities and giving the fragrance a luxurious finish. I think Pegasus Exclusif is a very well-done twist on the original. Do I prefer it to the original Pegasus? Personally, no. I still slightly favor the more indulgent, almost gourmand-like almond and vanilla sweetness of the original, and I think it's ultimately the more versatile and broadly appealing fragrance. That said, Pegasus Exclusif is far from a bad fragrance. I do think its darker, woodier profile will appeal to a slightly smaller audience, but for the right person it could easily be the better choice. If you found the original Pegasus a little too sweet or too feminine for your taste and wished it had more dry woods, a touch of smokiness, and a subtle leather nuance while still preserving that signature almond character, then Pegasus Exclusif could very well be the version you've been looking for.

I got a sample of this in an order, it's like a lighter, easier to wear version of Lattafa Qaaed (gold knurled bottle). If you're on the fence about that, try it as a full bottle is less than $25 in my part of the world. The difference is Qaaed is way more abrasive due to the spices, incense and so forth in the composition. It's much more stronger too. It only really works in the winter time as it can be too smoky to wear during the rest of the year. If you can survive until the dry down it's almost chai tea like. However, it's undeniably middle eastern where I feel if people grew up wearing sauvage, acqua di gio or anything like that, this may be polarizing or challenging to wear. Pegasus exclusif has this nice almost candy like sweet undertone without being something only a kid with a broccoli haircut would wear while he's crusing in his e-scooter in pajamas would wear. Everything I dislike about qaaed, which is that awful opening is gone after less than 5 minutes. It's light, it's airy. It's less middle eastern if that makes any sense compared to Qaaed. Scent wise this is clearly the winner. Even if the price tags were switched. Is Qaaed a clone? No, but if you like one you'll like the other as they're trying for a similar thing. If anything treat Qaaed like a flanker you'd only wear on the coldest days of the year, or a more extreme, abrasive version. The first few sprays out of the bottle are absolutely brutal so if you can spray Qaaed somewhere outside the first 10 sprays then you're doing yourself a huge favor. I got bored of Qaaed and used the last bit as bathroom spray. Would I buy a full bottle of this? No, it's ok, more wearable than certain "niche" fragrances I get to try but if anything I would try the regular version of Pegasus. I would recommend PDM Haltane or Initio Oud For Greatness from the company that owns Initio and PDM instead if you are too proud to wear clones.

Blind bought this and Layton exclusif for full retail when I first got into collecting fragrances about 2 years ago. Was not a fan of Layton exclusif but Pegasus exclusif really grew on me. The florals in this are beautiful and it’s not too sweet. It has that slightly nutty sweet almond/cyanide smell perfectly rounded out by the florals and a little oud. No barnyard smell at all. Nice and smooth. I’m a big fan of masculine white florals and this one does it for me. I wish it had a little more projection but longevity is decent. It lasts about 6-8 hours for me but it sits close to the skin. I think it’s really good for an intimate night inside or something soft for sleep. 7/10

Definitely less versatile than the original, but better performing and projecting. Another review mentioned Haltane being similar but better overall which I would agree with. I’d probably wear this to the office during colder months over Haltane due to the lighter oud presence in Pegasus exclusif, but will probably pass on buying a full bottle when my sample runs out this fall/winter. Nice woodiness without an overbearing amount of oud, but it’s still there. Almond note is great and not metallic (I don’t get the metallic vibe from original Pegasus)

My comparison between Layton Ex and Pegasus Ex (New batches): In summmery, Pegasus is very powdery and vanillic compared to Layton. Layton is very green and sharp compared to Pegasus. Both great in their own ways. They share the same woody base, But, while in Pegasus the BLAST of “almond” vanilla powder is always center, In Layton the greenes takes the front row. Layton opens with a strong fresh slightly medicinal greenery. Pegasus also starts fresh (not green), but shifts quicker. In the drydown the Layton is more focused on the spicy patchouli and woods, that’s why some people find it harsh. Pegasus is smooth in the drydown. The powderiness was a touch too much for me, but in the air it was one of the best! I still prefer Layton Ex tho understand why people find it too sharp.

I mean the way the Pegasus Exclusif opening hits, more than perfect ballance. Matured with the added bitter solid oud, it's a beast. They went all all in with it, got the special, got the grabber to it, elixir galore and doesn't drift into too much of an acquired taste. Personally believe it's a nice bold introduction to niche? Opposed to the Layton exclusif? That's a bit more of an experimental retake.

Almond ruins it. Way too much almond it completely clashes with everything else that's good in the scent.

PDM is a dupe house. This Lalique White in Black but with a weird opening. It’s worse than Lalique’s interpretation for like 8 times the price.

This is way better than it seems

Ironically Pegasus is one of my least favorite from the house of PDM, but Pegasus Exclusif is one of their best scents. Bitter almond is toned down as to not overwhelm the compositon and the heliotrope/ woods help bring a refined masculine tone not found in the first. Very unique scent I have not found something similar to this yet. 100% sample worthy if you enjoy scents from PDM and are curious.

I just tried this for the first time and this smells GOOD! Powdery, metallic, the metallic is kind of boozy to me. The vanilla + nut reminds me of chocolate but not chocolate if that makes sense? It is a unique scent. It's very niche. Very upscale. It's sexy. It's something you would wear on occasion. I like it a lot.

My first PdM purchase. I was prepared to bash it, because of all the online hate the house gets. After having it on my skin for two hours, my new starting lineup is: 1). Tobacolor 2). Pegasus Exclusif 3). 1 Million Royal Really don't get why PdM is so hated. My free samples of Perseus and Athenais were quite nice as well.

Ownership status: Full bottle Release year: 2020 How I tested it: Multiple wears I absolutely love everything about Pegasus. I didn't think that beautiful ambery-sandalwood drydown could get any better until I tried this. I had some time to kill at an airport and stopped by the PDM outlet. I already knew I loved the original Pegasus, and I walked in planning on buying it. But Pegasus Exclusif caught my eye, so I figured I'd try that first. And I'm glad I did. Without hesitation, I bought that on the spot, and now it's competing with a couple other perfumes for my number one of all time (I still can't decide). Exclusif takes that same “barbertrope” DNA (barbershop+heliotrope) and deepens it. It amps up the powerful woody-amber notes and adds oud, which transforms the atmosphere. Oud+heliotropin is an unreal combination. Exclusif feels richer, more dimensional, and more mature without losing the identity that I love about the original. Besides the increased amber and woody notes, there are smoother, woodier spices to complement the base notes and also a subtle rosy facet which wasn't prevalent in the original. It's not very noticeable but it adds a pop of color that rounds everything out perfectly. And, of course, with all of that norlimbanol, oud, and powerful sandalwood materials, this projects like a beast. Just like Pegasus, I don't have anything bad to say about this. It takes what I loved and intensifies it in the most satisfying way possible.

I did not like the original pegasus, but I am enjoying pegasus exclusif. The spices and aromatics balances out the sweet almond and vanilla profile.

A pragmatic review of Parfums de Marly Pegasus Exclusif from an unrefined nose Testing Methodology: Two sprays on a paper test strip in store; the strip was then placed in a bag with other scented strips for transport. The drydown was evaluated at home over 6 hours later. Note: Bagging multiple strips together creates a high probability of scent cross-contamination, which may impact the drydown analysis. Take it for what it is, as bagging them individually would've made me look really suspicious. -------------------- Opening (In-Store Impression): The number one voted note for this fragrance is Bitter Almond. I cannot smell it. This is not anosmia; I can smell the woody notes perfectly well. I simply have no mental model for what "bitter almond" is supposed to smell like, what I get from the opening is a simple vanilla and woods, very reminiscent of the drydown of Layton. Deep Drydown (At-Home Impression, 6+ Hours): The fragrance evolves from its simple opening into a sweet woodiness with an added facet that is slightly medicinal. The best benchmark I have is Tiger Balm, but stripped of all its freshness. I am not sensitive to it, but I can imagine this specific note could be headache-inducing for others. Performance is excellent and the identity remains distinct on the strip, as is expected from this house. -------------------- Overall Impression & Use Case: On paper, a "vanilla woods" combination should be a classic cozy scent. This potential is completely negated by the bothersome medicinal character that emerges in the drydown. I cannot say for certain what causes this effect, my best speculation is a combination of the synthetic oud and guaiac wood accords that are listed in the base. For me, this DNA is a complete fail. Whatever is supposed to make it interesting, I do not smell. What I do smell evolves into something potentially offensive. It is a very well-performing fragrance that I have no interest in wearing.

Honestly, Pegasus Exclusif is the version that finally made me fall in love with the Pegasus line after I was pretty neutral about the original. What really caught my attention is that the sharp, metallic almond note (the one many people dislike and describe as a “bomb of almond” or “chemical-sharp”) has completely disappeared from the original Pegasus. In Exclusif, the opening is much softer and more balanced, with cardamom, bergamot, and pink pepper blending beautifully. The almond is still there, but it’s gentle and well-integrated, not overpowering or harsh. Overall, the scent feels deeper, smokier, and more woody (thanks to guaiac wood, oud, and sandalwood), with a creamy, warm vanilla base. It gives a luxurious, wintery, and more masculine and elegant vibe compared to the original. Performance is excellent: it easily lasts 10–14 hours, and the projection is strong but not overwhelming if you use the right amount. In short: if you liked the idea of the original Pegasus but couldn’t stand the intense metallic almond edge, Pegasus Exclusif is the perfect solution. It’s a refined, polished, and much more comfortable version. For me, it’s currently one of my top 3 PDM fragrances, and I wear it a lot for occasions and cooler evenings. 🔥🐎

Sadly disappointed. Very generic man cologne effect. Can't feel any of the notes. This is the DNA of man cologne from the 90s . Weirdness

Off my decant. Reminds me alot of Layton Exclusif bottle. But more sweet/vanilla less barn yard oud dark animatic. In simpler terms, more playful and approachable oud but still a tad dark. Staying power is decent lasts a whole work day then fades. They are somewhat redundant to me in my use case. Winter time Oud fragrance. I own a full bottle of Haltane and prefer it to Layton Exclusif and Pegasus exclusif. But I’ll continue to wear these samples this winter. I have 9 PDM samples.

less metalic, sweet, almondy but more spicy pegasus. oud is not noticeable at all and doesnt smell animalic 6/10

This is another underrated Fragrences that no one really talks about. Pegasus’s and Pegasus Exclusif. This one opens up woody and sweet. It opens with some pink peeper cardamom bergamot, and transitions to some almond, white florals and lavender. The base notes bringing it all together with some vanilla amber sandalwood gaiac wood and oud but not an oud I can even pick up on, it really just seems to bring out the woodyness in the Fragrence and makes it have more depth. It’s a very nice woody sweet scent that has a bit of a root beer smell to it that I really enjoy. It’s very different and distinct smell that I have never smelled before. PDM really nails their quality and scents. Pegasus the original is more sweet with no oud and very little woodyness to it. They are similar but different enough where you can own both and not be completely redundant.

Less sweet more spicy and masculine than the OG. As im pushing 50, this suits me better all around. This is going straight in to the Fall rotation alongside Amouage epic man, Nishane kredo and Borsalino black iris. Edit: Unfortunately this is not projecting at all. Pretty much a skin scent right from the very start. Longevity is just ok. 8/10
