Someone needs to take this dna and make a fragance that is actually usable. Scent is great but this makes Jo malone freshies seem beastmode
You can only smell it WHILE you are spraying it. After that, it's gone forever
Spraying it on, I was greeted with a bright burst of fresh, crisp, and green aroma. The opening is unexpectedly loud and sharp for such a fresh scent. After about 15 minutes, it settles into a clean, crisp gin-like aroma. If you're familiar with gin, especially deep into the scent game, you'll recognize the juniper character that stays with you for the first hour. As it dries down, a subtle mild sweetness emerges. In terms of performance, the scent starts strong with notable projection for the first 15 minutes. It then becomes quite faint unless worn outdoors in the heat, where I could still smell it on my skin. On hot days, I was able to detect it until about the fifth hour. Without the heat, I estimate it would fade after 2 to 3 hours. Overall, Juniper Sling is a solid fragrance that truly shines in hot weather, making it ideal for those sunny days.
I tested this for one reason, because it was compared to gentle fluidity silver. I bought it immediately. Yes both have similar clean juniper, but they are not redundant, at least for me. I see juniper sling more formal somehow. Upon spraying, i get a bright burst of juniper berries, spiced with pepper and cinnamon. Within a few minutes, it settles into a calm, meditative, and clean juniper. Near the dry down , the juniper becomes mostly sweet, and ambery. My only issue that i would liked the longevity only a bit longer. 8.5/10
Juniper Sling is one of those rather pleasant and satisfying perfumes to wear, but lacks development. I can well imagine Olivier Cresp was limited by the brief, and was simply instructed to hand over something which would make an easy sell. The juniper is not as most modern juniper scents seem to be, it is not reminiscent of gin, it is not overly refreshing or citrusy, but instead leans more into the green aromatic facets. A leafy note of pine can be felt, made peppery and dry with vetiver. It’s a nice scent, it doesn’t wow me and I certainly don’t love it, but it’s well made. Another shelf-filler from Penhaligon’s I will likely forget very quickly.
This is what Katniss Everdeen would smell like
I’ve always loved Penhaligon’s perfumes-my mother did, my grandmother did, and now even my teenage daughter does. It’s a brand that has truly stood the test of time in my family. This review isn’t about a specific fragrance, but about Penhaligon’s as a whole. I’ve been quite surprised and honestly disappointed to see some reviews suggesting their perfumes might be “dupes” of other scents. That idea feels completely misplaced. Penhaligon’s is one of the oldest luxury fragrance houses, established in 1837, long before most of the modern designer brands people tend to compare it to, such as Dior, Chanel, or Tom Ford, which were founded much later in the 20th century. This is a heritage British house with a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship and originality. Its fragrances aren’t imitations of newer brands—they are part of a legacy that helped shape the world of perfumery as we know it today. Ultimately, when you buy a Penhaligon’s fragrance, you’re paying for the artistry- the layers, the balance, and the creativity behind the composition. So this review is just a light hearted attempt to educate those who are not familiar with this fragrance house.
Love the scent of this one, but while I usually find the criticism of Penhaligons' performance overblown (most of them are meant to wear close to the skin and last for a good while in that capacity) this one really is pretty miserable. You've got to put nose to skin to smell it AT ALL even from the first moment you spray, and it's gone by the 3 hour mark.
A fantastic, juicy herbal scent that I find very similar to Eccentric 01 - but with a bigger, bolder punch. The only thing standing between me and a bottle is the price, and unfortunately the longevity just isn't quite there to justify it. That said, every time I walk past a Penhaligon's counter, I absolutely douse myself in it. :)
An olfactory splinter. Sharply metallic and bitter, yet subtle in its harshness. Mercifully weak sillage with a shadow that never washes out. The signature scent for an old money father with a cruel, incessant sneer.
Wow this is so beautiful, so crisp and fresh and slightly bitter. I cant help but also think of gin when smelling this. Its almost like you're standing in cold, icy, crisp, forest while doing a shot of gin, why you're doing gin shots in the cold forest im unsure. Would love a full bottle of this
Beautiful scent but unfortunately it's gone within half an hour. Absolutely atrocious performance
This smells like a rainy conifer forest in spring, the sun spilling in through the treetops, with deer and rabbits all around. I adore scents that take me to nature and this is no different. I see this as a brighter version of Diptyque Tam Dao. I am a little disappointed with the performance however, it doesn't last long and you can only smell it up close.
The first impression was very strong, but it's gone too fast. and the reverberation was too weak.
Smells very nice, fresh, and easy to enjoy. Lean slightly feminine, but definitely is unisex. The drawback is the performance. I sprayed it on before work, drove to work, and can only smell it if I bury my nose into my wrist. Due to such poor performance, it’s not worth buying a bottle.
Juniper Sling's opening is pungent, refreshing, and very slightly sweet with juniper berries. Obviously, it reminds me of gin, a smoother one, like Sipsmith. It then becomes even smoother and slightly sweeter: I can smell a tiny bit of spice, a hint of cherry, sugar, and amber in the drydown, as it moves away from gin territory. It is incredibly delicious, refreshing, and elegant. This is unisex, but I think it smells outstanding on a man. The only issue is the longevity, so you need to delight yourself by reapplying often. Another masterpiece from Mr. Cresp.
Wild that this smells exactly like the hotel I went in England. Need it desperately. So pricey, especially for an EDT, but nonetheless crisp, classy, and crepuscular.
I will preface saying this is a very very light fragrance. But it does last a good bit. Opens juniper, more the shrub and evergreen resin than the berry. You catch wiffs of the dry almost waxy angelica support. Similar to in gin where Angelica is barely present and acts as a fixative. This doesn't smell like jin to me though, a bit tame for that and without the sharpness typically present there. The scent is now going to effectively go away for a little while now. Take a little break. It worked hard. It will be almost imperceptible. Like how an employee disappears on break when they really need it. Then we return with lightly woody pepper. Tight and close to the skin, pleasant, but just lightly there. This will be there for the next good few hours. It's so soft and light that it's easy to think it's gone, but it does last, it was just never high presence to begin with. This ends my exploration of the penhaligon discovery and as I title it - perfume most British. Soft, quietly polite, waiting it's turn, and never flamboyant.
Beautifully icy and crisp opening of citrusy juniper berries with a bit of pepper and light woods. Truly evocative of early spring and a nice refresher. Sadly, it's incredibly short lived.
Does anyone know of something similar with better projection and performance? Thanks
Juniper Sling exudes elegance and subtlety, staying true to the refined English style. Yet, in my view, they err on the side of conservatism. Particularly considering the array of base notes, I anticipated a touch more daring. Nevertheless, their refined demeanor will undoubtedly suit numerous formal occasions. As a general rule, Juniper Sling is a fragrance for the day, especially fitting for warmer climates. After all, what could be more delightful than a chilled glass of gin and tonic on a scorching July afternoon? For aficionados of this spirit, it's a must-have addition. For others? It's a scent worth acquainting oneself with. My rating: Worth getting to know. (5/7)
My favourite perfume! Could wear it anytime anywhere!!
Voyage d'Hermes by Hermès but higher quality and yields the same performance… almost non-existent.
Oddly enough this smells like ginger to me. Like real ginger, earthy, spicy, medicinal. Then dries down to a beautiful light Juniper moodiness. Incredible scent just does not project much and because of that doesn't feel like it lasts very long.
First time smelling this masterpiece and it was at the airport. The perfume I wore for my flight was Escentric Molecules - Molecule 1 and it complemented magically with Juniper Sling. This fragrance also transported me to a family trip I did with my sons and wife to Zion National Park in Utah. While walking down on one of the paths of the park we saw many Juniper trees and me and my oldest son decided to smell the juniper berries, we crush them in the cement and the proceeded to smell them, the result was a captivating effervescent woody citrus smell that I fell in love with. This fragrance has a captivating smell while being woody, citrus and musky with an elegant sweet smell. If you like Byredo Gypsy Water you will love this fragrance.
One of the best from Penhaligon. I remember when I first tried Penhaligon scents at the Art of Shaving barber shop. Smelled the entire line they had on display and they all reminded me of the typical men’s splash colognes from yesteryear but Juniper Sling stood out and I loved how it dried. Very woody masculine and gentlemanly. Had to buy it. Unfortunately it’s a skin scent 😭
Had a good sniff/try of this at an airport today. I have a doused tester card in my bag to revisit it. I immediately knew this one was a 'want'. I love citrus but this has a pleasant and classy warmth too. (Not really understanding the Molecule comparison - love that one too.) And then I looked it up on Fragrantica - Ahhh, my genius, Oliver Cresp! Another Cresp winner to add to my collection sometime.
ughhhhh i really like it but it lasts like SOOOOO not that strong... its kinda weak... i like the green berry vibe, the wood, how its aromatic and fresh spicy!! and the warm dry down but it just doesnt last that long on my skin,, its still yummy though! but i think for the price point its just too weak
When I first got this around 2 years ago I didn't understand the appeal, I found it plain and nothing special. However, as another commenter noted it really comes alive in hot weather. Try it as a holiday scent!
Very much so and everytime amazing that Juniper Sling, Bitter cold piney opening, got the major antique old times freshness to it without the vintage grandpa feel. Mistique type Juniper Berry wet forest accord consistent throughout, warming Pepper as turns bit powdery. Pretty much centered around the Juniper Berry and the other bitters: Cardamom and sublime Vetiver. Very unique, rare DNA, very pleased with the blind purchase.
