Has anyone noticed a drop in Acqua Viva's performance? On my skin, it only lasts about 4–5 hours now and has poor projection.
This is a darker and sweeter version of the opening from Versace Eros energy. Eros energy is bright and crisp. Acqua viva is richer and dense, with thick fruit loops cereal vibes. This would hold its own during winter, and is excellent in the summer sun. The scent doesn’t change much, which can be good or bad. I prefer Eros energy for the bright opening and musky dry down. Acqua viva is a bit too intense for me.
Stop claiming that any strong citrus scent smells like ‘bug spray’ as it’s total bollocks. ‘Bug spray’ and ‘cleaning products’ are scented to make the otherwise unpleasant chemical smell a little more tolerable. One of the most commonly used scents they use is lemon/citrus. So this or other citrus dominant scents, doesn’t smell like ‘bug spray’ or ‘cleaning products’, but rather they (the bug spray etc) smell like citrus. Yes there is a difference. If they made these ‘cleaning products’ or ‘bug sprays’ to smell like Aventus (or whatever is your favourite) would you suddenly hate it and stop using or buying it? I doubt it. Put it into context for goodness sake.
Whoever thought to anchor the bright scent of sunny lemons with stale melancholia? Not for me.
@Zhuliyan classic npc who thinks that grey market perfumes are any different from official retailers 😂
I just recently learned about this perfume house as I was tired of over-priced, highly lauded brands that last an hour and don't incorporate a single natural material. They rely heavily, instead, on less expensive synthetics: Linalool, Limonene, Dihydromyrcenol, Citronellal... AI searching revealed Profumum, which is run by 4 siblings who design the fragrances themselves. Most are created with a high level of oil, 40%, hence the unvelievable strength and longevity of the Amalfi lemon in Aqua Viva. I have worked with and smelled a LOT of citrus and never encountered anything like this. That being said, there is something vaguely unpleasant in the perfume's undertone. Profumum's website lists Volcano Broom as the floral element (here they say laburnum, a distant cousin) and my initial research described a plant so hearty it could withstand lava and continue to bloom. Maybe incorrectly, I assumed that the perfumers were bringing in a slight "hot rock" note that might be what I was smelling. However, further research explained the plant as being named for its vibrant red and yellow flowers, reminiscent of a lava flow. The overall scent is quite linear, drying down after a while to a mellow cedar. Would I buy a bottle? Probably not, but I am certainly enjoying getting more familiar with my 3 ml sample. I will keep testing it to see if I change my mind.
I agree with the comment below — it’s quite a photorealistic lemon fragrance. In my country, lemon cologne is very commonly used, and every time I wear this, it gives me the same vibe. That makes the fragrance feel a bit too simple to me, even though I know there’s more to it than that. For people who aren’t familiar with that scent profile, though, it’s a very unique and highly realistic lemon fragrance.
Very nice photorealistic perfume, perfect for lemon lovers. This smells exactly like the zest of a green lime. Love it!
Many of the comments on Fragrantica about perfumes are from people who, firstly, have no experience, and secondly, write comments about the fake perfumes that you bought! Acqua Viva and in general Profumum Roma perfumes are unique, but the majority, because you are not given the real price for a perfume from the official sites, you find them behind the curtains, where you buy the same ones from other places for no more than 90-100€ and then you wonder why they smell like detergents! They smell like detergents because you are stingy and you are not paid for the original! Therefore, it is better not to comment if you did not buy from an official site, or from an authorized retailer, because that way you are misleading many people! Acqua Viva is a super fresh natural lemon with added woods that make it a super unique summer scent! There are so many peasants in this Fragrantica that it is not true!
its a quality citrus scent (definitely in my personal top 3 best citrus forward fragrances list); no soapy vibes here, but rather some honey and “lemons in caramel” kind of notes but all not too sweet. try it before you try it.
Beautiful citrus smell, almost candied lemons at times. Can smells like soap but I do like that sweet lemon scent. I like it as a perfume but I don't think it's my favourite to wear in the summer. I think I prefer something with some floral notes.
Authentic, sharp lemon. Very tart and rindy, kinda pithy, yet with a sugary sweetness to it more akin to candied lemon wedges than freshly chopped fruit. The soft woody backdrop reveals itself once the explosive opening settles, at which point the scent treads dangerously close to a fresh swipe of furniture polish. Gets a little more watery as it dries down. Moderately strong projection for 2-3hr, longevity 8-10hr.
sickly sweet candied lemon, leans a bit too strong towards cleaning product for me and others i asked. everything else kind of gets lost underneath that. i had to rinse it off, as much as i wanted to like this it just doesn't agree with my nose.
I seriously do not think I will EVER finish this bottle. It is SO CONCENTRATED AND STRONG. You only need one light spritz per arm , not a single spray more. And then you need to layer it with something to calm the lemon down. You are def getting your moneys worth but this may not be for everyone.
lemon detergent it's projects smells high quality might be a drop harsh on the nose, but not full bottle worthy imo.
I’m not in the habit of writing a review based on a single experience, a single wear, but this impressed me so much that I can’t resist. Today I was in a perfume shop, tried a few scents, bought three, and while the shop owner was ringing them up, I started opening Profumum Roma bottles and just bringing the atomizers to my nose to get a quick sniff and see if anything would catch my attention. When I opened this one and smelled it, that spontaneous “wooooow” burst out of me - the very reaction that has drawn so many people into this beautiful passion of collecting fragrances. I’ve never had such a pure, shining and unbelievably powerful lemon scent under my nose before. Since both my forearms were already sprayed with other fragrances, I rolled up my fairly thick denim shirt above the elbow on one arm and did a single spray on my bicep. The owner told me that with this beauty, one spray is enough… that it’s very strong. I’m usually skeptical of claims like that - even with perfumes with enormous sillage I tend to apply three, four, five sprays on each wrist, completely soaking them. People, really - this stuff is strong like an atomic bomb. After I left the shop, just a few minutes into walking, I could smell it again when I moved my arm the right way - through a thick denim shirt and a thick, down-filled winter jacket zipped all the way up to my neck. Throughout the day, over the course of hours, I kept smelling my arm from time to time and that lemon was still there, not fading. Beautiful, natural, shining lemon. Take a look at that accord pyramid. After several hours of strong, enormous projection, there should be nothing there but “citrus.” In fact “lemon” 🍋 Unbelievable… I don’t understand how anyone can rate this sillage as “strong” or even “moderate.” I take the “intimate” rating as a joke. This is E N O R M O U S. I’m definitely ordering a full bottle and after wearing it multiple times throughout the season I’ll come back to this review. But even now I can say this: for perfume enthusiasts - whether you like citrus fragrances or not - this is something you simply have to smell. And I’ll definitely have to reduce the number of sprays with this fragrance. Lemon power! 🍋
Sweet, bright, sparkling lemons. Uplifting! slightly woody drydown. Very good and natural smelling.
Right off the rip, you’re hit with a strong candied lemon. As it dries down, the lemon fades and the fragrance becomes woodier and more restrained. I wish the cypress were a bit more prominent. Overall, it’s pleasant, but I can see why some people might be put off by the intense lemon opening.
The most citrusy citrus to have ever citrused. Gawd daaahm it’s almost too much on the opening, but you can tell this stuff is going to last. As it dried down it got woodier but still super lemony.
Pure lemons.... but a little deeper than others with a tiny bit of smoke. I own Dior Homme Cologne as well which is much lighter and sweeter but has very poor longevity. So I've been on a mission to find the longest lasting citrus.... and this is by far the strongest and most pleasant citrus that money can buy. I sampled Orangea from the same house as well but wasn't as much a fan of it. For me, Acqua Viva lasts easily 6 hours with whiffs up to 9-10 hours later. Strong projection for the first hour. I wish it had a little more to it as far as complexity.... but I can always layer with an ambergris or musk fragrance for a little more depth. The reason I was out on a hunt looking for a long lasting citrus is because my wife bought me Dior Homme Cologne and that's her favorite on me... so for her, she loves the Acqua Viva as well and I also enjoy it... so it's a win-win... I'll be buying a bottle next time I see a good opportunity.
Yes it's a sharp citrus up front but give her half hour and the there is something watery and green that starts to come through as the citrus subsides. One it dries down further is develops a warm cozy slightly sweet base while maintaining the rest of the notes. Incredibly unisex I love it for spring summer
Bug spray mixed with fresh squeezed lemon juice. A definite scrubber for me. Yuck I prefer citrus scents that are backed by more woods to balance them out, but unfortunately the woods in this are far too feint and do not arrive until the mid-late drydown. Pass on this one unless you like to smell of pure citrus juice and bug spray
Fresh, bitter citrus with very nice woody dry down. Overall it smells natural and pleasant. Performs very well for a citrus scent but the price for this is insane, there is no wow factor or anything that would justify that price to me. It's just a solid citrusy, woody fragrance and I would love to have it in my collection if it was half the price. I just have several citrus fragrances that I would definitely wear more often and they are cheaper than this. I would say it's more masculine, great for warm weather day and night, should fit both casual and formal attire. If you don't have any other decent citruses in your collection and money is not a problem, it's worth to check this one out.
Such a wonderful burst of lemon splash in the opening, with a nice soft fuzz underneath that smells like rice. I love the fact that in the drydown, you get to smell the branches and leaves of the lemon tree, reminds me of a coriander leaf too. I don’t think this smells like a cleaner, it has much more depth to the scent profile. Overall this is a refreshing citrus scent that perks up your mood, the only drawback is the price point. I realise the opening lemon accords is very similar to Goutal's Hadrien.
It's not cleaner adjacent because this lemon isn't acerbic, but to me it smells like an oily, dirty, hot lemon. It lacks any brightness or freshness. Pretty disappointing since I normally love citrus scents
This is the most photo realistic lemon scent I’ve ever smelled. It’s as if you plucked a ripe juicy limone di capri, ripped it open and sniffed it. Also very green, like if they included the leaves as well. It has none of that pervasive lemon wood cleaner smell that everyone hates. Extremely high quality and the price is worth it. Incredible. 8.8/10
A high citrus, really nothing more, against expectations. It approaches Nicolai’s Yuzu but is probably a bit lower. Still higher than most citruses. It was supposed to be long-lasting but wasn’t on the skin. Citrus, sharp lemon, just that, and probably less successful than the mentioned Nicolai. ⸻ Several people have told me that it lasts long because it’s expensive and has a lot of oil, nonsense, it fades like Tom Ford’s, a bottom-tier scent. Also, the drydown is like Do Son, so it’s very soft, which misses the summer goal. Maybe Lemon Line and similar candy-like scents perform better. Or simply something rougher.
This is a nice, fresh lemon zest/rind scent. It is a cold scent, so really only wearable in summer. It’s too sharp for me personally. I think I would find this too much in the heat as it’s also quite strong. A little definitely goes a long way with this one. It’s also surprisingly long lasting for a citrus. Worth the money if you’re looking for a refreshing, lemon scent. My first impression of this was that it reminded me of haribo lemon and lime jelly sweets. This one is just too much for me personally. My preference would be Dulcis in Fundo over this one. I find it lighter to wear and prefer the sweetness of it, which makes it more versatile and wearable in different seasons.
i’ll never forgive Big Cleaner for what they’ve done to my association with lemon, this is so lovely though if you’re looking for a lemon fragrance this is the 1
When life gives you lemons, make Acqua Viva?
