Olympéa Intense

Wow. I bought a dupe of this one just to find out it's discontinued!!! It reminds me so much of perfumes women used to wear in the 90s... I was a child back then so I have no idea of what could be similar to Olympea Intense. Damn, this perfume is so good. I wish I could own the original!

I wore this one religiously until I finished the bottle. Had amazing longevity on me. I was so sad when I discovered it was discontinued. I don't like any of the other flankers.

I've known this smell for years, and I don't know why this isn't voted unisex these days. I could even imagine some women finding this a tad masculine. Marketing seems to get us every time.

This is better than olympea, less generic much more unique and beachy exactly like the ocean smell but with added sweetness that intensifies as it dries down, but never becomes too much. I never smelled something that reminded me THAT much of being at the beach, being my mermaid self. A sweaty mermaid. Also The sweet resinous scent in this reminds me of the famous Bakdash ice cream that Damascus is famous for, because it has a distinct arabic gum flavour (which is a tree resin) because arabic gum is used as an ingredient in it to make it chewy.. I absolutely love this ice cream because of this.. they pound it for hours. I dont usually like vanilla ice cream but this is an exception because the arabic gum gives it an edge .. (Real vanilla is not vanillin thats usually used in ice cream, real vanilla also has a woody earthy taste and scent). But if u are in Damascus only eat it straight from bakdash shop because it is always freshly made which is when I can taste the arabic gum. When it is rolled and put in the fridge for a while it tastes too much of milk and sugar and I cannot detect the Arabic gum anymore . Now about this perfume I cannot do without it anymore it's in my top three or five. I dont recommend spraying too much of this perfume. it will dry down very strong. A few comments down below me reads: " I dont really see anyone outside 15 to 19 wearing this. Shes giving the rich girl at an international school. Smells really nice though" I giggled when I read this because I am 40 years old and yes I feel like a 19 year old rich girl wearing this.. But a practical and very strong and confident 19 year old. So a more mature than average 19 year old. ... ready to tackle whatever challenge comes my way. I love a salty note in perfume because it reminds me of sweat, it therefore smells like a sweaty woman that naturally has a good smelling sweet floral sweat.. Imagine.. an otherworldly goddess that's half from earth, smelling of dirt and ocean and flesh, but half from heaven, smelling of the flowers and of the celestial sweetness of the sun and of fermented nectars. Yes, this one particular goddess leans more on being born of the ocean sand.. she is dirty and rooted in the dirt and often is emerging from the fizz of the salty ocean but a piece of her lends her strength and support from the heavens where her inspiration comes from.. Yet her earthly nourishment is what she derives from the sweet nectar of flowers that she buries and ferments deep into the darkest pit of the ocean floor to create the sweetest fizzy ocean caramel that nourishes her and radiates through her skin. Probably cause SHE also is the darkest pit in the ocean and SHE is the fizzy caramel taste of the sunny beach. She is down to work with passion and to creating and molding her dirty earthy divinity with her own two hands. She is sweet but challenging.. Dirty but Godly. That's what being "rich" ultimately is, and when our spirit is rich and expansive we will still embody the youthful strength and child-like playful innocence well beyond our forties and fifties .. We do not have to be cut from the inner child or from our inner youth in order to grow up, we can carry all of our potential every moment into eternity And this perfume is not too youthful at all at that either, it is a very sophisticated feminine scent, and its not spicy or anything, in spite of including the white pepper note, because it is an animalic kind of fizzy and earthy and woody scent.. and at the same time very sweet.. I absolutely adore this but for winter.. I dont mind wearing this in day time.. just for winter though. And it's a very beautiful evening dark scent.. not too dark.. but dark enough to bring out my earthy salty beachy inner mermaid. Note; when u first spray it in the first hour it smells a lot fizzier than when it settles down, then after a few minutes the flowers show their heads up the most out of the mix but WAIT.. it's not over yet this isn't how it will settle for the longest time.. it settles into a deep warm ambery beachy oceanic floral sweetness.. So u need to give it time for it to fully develop and for all the elements to combine I LOVE the fresh and powdery animalic sweetness that this perfume is. Note 2;: sakeena by lattafa smells much more salty though, so if u want something that gives salty vibes but with a more prominent salt and raspberry note, I strongly suggest sakeena.. but sakeena is not very popular.. it smells very different and strange and has a wow factor to it... Ppl find it maybe too animalic because of the ozonic notes combined with salt, musk, and raspberry. Which is a combination that smells a lot animalic to me, but not too animalic nor cloying, because of the freshness of mandarin and fruits and ozone. I love sakeena too. I wish more people could understand why it's so beautiful in spite of everything they may perceive .. sakeena is kind of a femme fatale niche scent.

Smells more bitter than salty to me. This smells like a greener version of Bath & Body Works Vanilla Romance. I think if you're looking for salt, despite this one getting name-dropped a lot, I'd recommend Walk the Sea by Kerosene which reads much more salty and is more powerful overall. This perfume though is probably less polarizing as it isn't very strong or out there.

One of my all time favorites. So sad that it’s discontinued. Because of that I wasn’t really using it. Which is such a waste. I started using it again and fell in love all over again. Such a deep ambery vanilla. Not in a spicy way. It’s still sweet. And just really sexy. Great lasting power as well.

On the sweeter side. The salty sweet combo wasnt really noticable until after 30 mins. I dont really see anyone outside 15 to 19 wearing this. Shes giving the rich girl at an international school. Smells really nice though

Resinous sweet, vanilla amber concoction with a salty undernote that's there but not too prominent. Not ground breaking but mysteriously sweet and a great date night and evening fragrance in cool weather. Solid longevity with mild projection.

This was a difficult one for me. I loved how it smelled after a few hours on clothing however, on first spray I found it completely nauseating because of the super deep and intense amber. Performance was great. Didn’t pay an awful lot for it but disappointed for those that enjoy it as it’s now discontinued. Overall 6/10.

Sweet and sexyyyy A few sprays will do

Nice vanilla cozy scent. only takes a couple sprays before it gets overpowering. Enjoyed my sample in colder temps but in warmer weather it triggers nausea and sinus problems for me. Reminds me of chierosa 71 which i gave away after the sea salt and caramel combo nauseated me. It’s a like but not a love. The original olympea is more wearable without issues for me.

Aura_Rosa, Oh my goodness! It's almost as if you read my mind!! I think it's so wonderful how two minds can have the same crazy emotions and feelings about such an evocative fragrance! The imagery you used is perfect, conjuring up the warmth of emotion, the masterpiece of imagination to interpret such a unique mental picture of this beautiful and inspiring fragrance! OH!... how I wish I could GO BACK TO 02/01/17 and write a REVIEW OF MY OWN on this very fragrance... (... coughs to self...) ... It's the year 1990 and she is on a vacation in a private resort with her own access path to the beach. After a long day of out and about, she is preparing herself for a fancy dinner putting on a narrow white elegant cocktail dress with big gold earrings. She then stops by at the balcony to enjoy the beautiful view of the sunset. A gradient of orange and yellow tones of the sky is melting down into the sea waves which are smoothly carrying the upcoming night. Her sun-kissed skin smells like high quality vanilla sun lotion mixed with sweet and salty nuances from the previous sunbathing and swimming session. Her jewelry is glistening under the sun rays while the wind is swaying her lush hair. She is oozing confidence, happiness, elegance, attractiveness, pure class and luxury. A Goddess raised from summer and sea shells. She is irresistible, and she is Olympea Intense. This scent is an intoxicating and deep concoction of amber and salty vanilla. The orange blossom and other notes are very well blended so nothing seems to "stick out" from the composition. White pepper is giving the composition just the right amount of edge so it doesn't fully sink into the amber. On my skin, it smells like an explosion of deep sweet, almost buttery, amber syrup covering a vanilla ice cream accompanied by the salty air freshness which you can inhale while chilling next to the sea accompanied by a sunset view. Simple, yet complex. Sweet, but unique. A statement maker.

My first love from Olympea line and the entire Paco Rabanne range. A very beautiful, rich amber, salty vanilla with contrast, depth and phenomenal performance. Unique in designer world at the time of launch and easy to like. I would call this scent a noteworthy one to appreciate if you wanted a true amber based perfume. It was very popular and I think it sold well for Rabbane. I find quite disappointing the fact that Rabbane decided to discontinue this beauty, but unlike with other scents, with Olympea Intense I was able to get some back up bottles to enjoy it for some more time.

this was ok!! c+ i love ambery vanillas, and this one hit the mark, but then i went out with my mother and she immediately got a headache and demanded me to wash it off. INCREDIBLY SALTY!! user beware.

I’m disappointed that Olympea Intense is discontinued. I love the original, and will be repurchasing that one, but Olympea Intense is so nice for transitioning from summer into fall. It oddly (but pleasantly) smells like No. 2 Pencils in the opening. Great longevity and I would say moderate projection for the first hour or so, then soft projection for the rest of the wear.

Back then this fragrance taught me what amber smelled like, because it is so prominent in this one. I also smelled vanilla, salt and some spices (pepper?). Overall it smells nice, just doesn't suit me personally.

I don't like it. I bought a full bottle on the recommendation of someone, and played around with it for quite some time but this is not for me. It's just salty. I smell nothing more. It's a very straightforward, simple scent and without any challenge or secret. Just salt. I gifted it to a colleague at work. I think she will have no problem emptying it. No development, no surprises.

Strong ambery vanilla with a pinch of salt, I don’t pick up any of the other notes. Not the most unique scent in the world, but I like it. The first spray was a little nauseating, but I enjoyed it after the initial sharpness went away. The dry down reminds me very much of Alien Goddess. It’s very deep, bold, and long wearing. It definitely makes a statement. It would be great for a night out during cooler months.

Days on clothes Not really bad fragrances, i just can't pickup other notes but salty vanila Not office safe If you are into vanilla fragrance with great longevity, go for this since this is on more affordable side and the bottle is good quality

The first spray is kind of grape soda or jelly ice cream and then it quicky changes to sweet vanilla. I think I'm the only one that this Olympea Intense smells almost exactly likes Lancome Poem. I don't why but maybe the combination of vanilla and orange blossom give this vibe. I expect edible buttery caramel, but it's not. I'm glad that I didn't blindbuy this

Smells like salted caramel. So good for winter and during a night out. I like to layer with vanilla bourbon lotion.

I blind bought this and I regret it. This is the most intense amber bomb I've ever smelled. Normally I like amber fragrances but this is just so strong and powerful. One spray fills a room! I wish the amber was better blended with some of the other notes because on paper this seems like something I would love. I've tried to layer with other fragrances but this is so intense that it just smothers any other fragrance. This is a no for me.

There is a noticeable difference between Olympea Intense before/after reformulation. Pre-reformulation the amber is way stronger which makes the opening smell somewhat rusty/metallic (in the best way possible, lol). The reformulated Olympea intense tones down the amber and instead there is a strong note of white pepper. I love both versions equally, actually I layer them. Sexy as hell.

In the opening, I struggled to pick out any differences between this intense version and the OG, so I left it awhile and returned to my sample paper after 15-20 mins to sniff the drydown. In the opening the salty vanilla accord was very intense but in the drydown, I could pick up no salt. The vanilla in this formulation is a lot sweeter than in the OG, I suspect it's because there is less salt to tame it. The orange flower note that was barely noticeable in the opening is very much at work in the mid and dry down. Where cashmere wood gave the original a sense of smoothness and luxury in the drydown, the amber note has been placed to replicate that feeling, however it's failed to. What you will smell in the drydown is a smooth, citrus floral, buttery vanilla with a hint of salt. There is some ambergris, but it is more noticeable on paper than skin. I would wear the original for afternoon tea on the weekend with my girlfriends, but this intense version would solely be for drinks and live music at a quiet jazz club. Where the original stood out, stayed strong, this intense version is only intense in sweetness and lacklustre in performance and longevity. I love the orange flower note in this, but it fails to meet expectations as a whole.

This is coastal city nightlife, sweater weather edition. It’s a Friday night in autumn, and your date takes you for a stroll at a busy promenade after a fancy dinner. There’s a beautiful salty breeze blowing and the ocean is dark and serene, contrasting with all the colorful lights, the boardwalk performers entertaining giggling passerbys, excited children running around. People of all ages having a great time. A vendor nearby is selling hot caramel popcorn. You’re looking chic and magazine-cover ready in your all-black ensemble, cozy pashmina shawl draped gracefully to warm your shoulders. Your seductive orange blossom perfume is mixing with all the aromas around you, the cool salty sea air, the warm, buttery sweetness of freshly popped caramel popcorn…there’s so much joy in the air, and you just want to breathe it all in and savor the moment. This is the fragrance that I pull out in cold weather when I’m anywhere close to the ocean…it’s too salty to enjoy anywhere else, too sweet for the spring/summer months, too quirky to use day to day…but it is definitely an atmospheric and evocative one. For that reason, it’s not something that I wear often, but worn at the right time and place (or even at bedtime when I want to relive the seaside funfair or promenade fun), I do enjoy it..immensely!

I’m not even gonna hold you, I don’t know why anything from the Olympéa line is popular. The original stinks and the Intense version is nondescript at best. I’ve heard people say it’s supposed to give salt and caramel and maybe I’m meant to never get along with that fragrance combo because a perfume by the same name from Shay & Blue got no accolades from me either. The intense version leans sweeter but it smells like a muddled mess. None of the notes make an impression enough to stick out. I’m so for real when I say I don’t understand how this is always consistently in Top 10’s. Perfumes like this are why I like the niche space, I feel like the artistry and complexity are completely lacking in this one to the point it’s giving drugstore.

I bought this one in mistake, misremembering that I had liked a tester of Pure XS, another Paco Rabanne fragrance. Pure XS is far superior (as is Scandal). Given how amazing the other scents are by PR, this is disappointing. I love the bottle (pictured), but IRL it's tacky and orange. I was expecting an interesting Oriental mixed with Greek scent - alas, it's quite bog standard. Nice, but not amazing. They could've made this so good - the concept of 'Olympea' is very intriguing. I would've had old Renaissance, Greek or Oriental art on the bottle, faint under the brown colour. To me, a fragrance called 'Olympea' would've been like YSL Opium, only with a European twist. Imagine a perfume that evoked the coolness and minerals of Mount Olympus, mixed with Opium, or a sandy olive/fig with Opium. It just lacks any interest. Such a shame, because the notes are intriguing. I've never seen a salty perfume that wasn't supposed to evoke the beach. I'll try the EDP (non-intense version) and its flankers.
