Powdery, purple violet. Very soft and feminine. Pretty, floral. Slightly basic. This gives me 90s vibes.

The bell pepper 🫑 is what makes me feel putted off But i like the violet its not insolencey

I LOVE this scent. It reminds me of the late 90s and early 00s, which we know were the golden years. I don’t remember it not lasting very long but I overspray and I repeatedly spray throughout the day. I’ve owned it twice. Once when it was released and then again in 2012. Think I might pick up another bottle. It’s well blended and no notes stand out to me really. It’s kind of metallicy but weird and beautiful. If you don’t like it, I guess you had to be there.

This is such a nostalgic scent. I remember smelling it on some of the African and Carribean women I was surrounded by in my childhood and how good it smelled on their skin. These women could wear this scent anytime and it sort of fit them like a glove. With my skin chemistry there is something odd that happens at first spray that lasts for almost an hour. It smells like me when I'm at the beach with sunscreen on. On myself, it's a purely beachy scent at first (and not in the best way). It's a smell I would only wear at night because of how pronounced it is and I'd make sure to spray it at least an hour before going out. The dry down is truly what makes up for the initial ordeal. Suddenly that sunscreen lotion scent dissipates into a wonderfully complex watery-creamy-musky scent.

This perfume is very nostalgic for me, reminds me of evening out with my friends and going to parties. I still have it. It's a sweet fragrance but also flowery. Violet is dominant but the whole concuction is quite airy and a bit otherworldly. There's something a bit creamy here that makes this perfumebstand out from other sweet fragrances. Longevity and projection are very strong, you only need a tiny spray. It's not something I would buy today, but I enjoy wearing it now and then and feel a bit younger.

at 2000s, the shampoo that only you purchase for your summerhouse. you’re about the hit 18, have a crush on neihbourhood’s popular guy, he does surf, light- brunette, hazel eyes, hair on his arms goes albino- yellow at summer. after you finish a long day at the beach, you go back to your house for shower while you’re feeling dizzy because of the sun overdose. Your dad wents to market to buy barbecue stuff for dinner, and mom starts to make side dishes. you had a quick shower, had a nap for 1 hrs. got ready for dinner. once you go to the livingroom, your favorite cousin who is your coeval and her family surprised you for dinner. Ultraviolet smells EXACTLY LIKE THIS MOMENT. after the dinner, you went back to the beach with your cousin, and your crush is there too, with a big group of people. at the beach, between the confused and excited feelings, you slightly feel the existence of Ultraviolet from your hair, maybe your crush gave his first compliement to you about it. very young, uplifting, nostalgic scent. For me very feminine. Also reminded me the tv series from Turkey: Kavak Yelleri. Aslı would wear this!! :)

I absolutely love this perfume. My professor used to wear it in uni, and that’s where I first discovered it. Even when the professor wasn’t in class, the room still smelled of this perfume. Ever since I started wearing it, I’ve received countless compliments. It’s the longest-lasting perfume I’ve ever worn. My boyfriend says the scent transfers to his clothes whenever I hug him lol. I found my ride or die perfume! I just hate that bottle

Massively disappointing this. I lived in Ultraviolet for men as a kid, loved it. Blind bought the women’s this time as I’m trying to find more feminine fragrances that I like and picked this one on the basis that it was a Violet forward blend and by the notes I expected to love it. Frankly I don’t get a single peep of what I know of Violet, I get super green cuttings like trimming flower stems and it’s not only assaulting but screechy as hell. Considering many people had said it’s Violet forward I can only say it’s the greenest “Violet” I’ve ever smelled. This will be a back burner for a long time. Maybe it’ll mellow out with a chance to oxidise but as it stands I can’t imagine any reason I’d ever willingly put this on my skin again.

Total Y2K turbo nostalgia. Even though I never owned or wore this perfume before, it still somehow reminds me of my teenage years and things people were wearing around that time. I’m not a fan of the bottle - it’s weird, hard to handle, doesn’t stand properly, and it doesn’t really spray, it kind of squirts, which I’ve never seen before. But I love purple, so I’ll give it a pass. I would say this is a violet-focused perfume, but with a futuristic twist on the classic powdery violet scent that is so common. There are many violet powdery fragrances and most of them smell very similar, but this is really not like anything else I’ve smelled. It’s somehow powdery but also a bit aquatic, sweet but not too sweet, dated and futuristic at the same time. Slightly alien-like in a way. This really smells like entering a new millennium - like welcoming 2000 from 1999. Very unique and very well done.

I can't stand this perfume.

This is absolutely lovely. The violet is the star, but the addition of pimento and pepper gives it a sharp, modern edge. It completely avoids that 'dusty' floral cliché, resulting in a scent that feels fresh, vibrant, and incredibly current.

Disappeared after multiple sprays. Lasted only a mere half an hour and I’m not even sure I got a strong hit of violet. Another victim to reformulation?

Very powdery and floral. Smells like old ladies. That's it. Lasts surprisingly long though.

Must’ve got a bum bottle (off fragrancenet). I spray and I spray and I spray and the dribbling rivulets never amount to much fragrance on me. I was suiting up for neon violet to project me into my own Space Oddity but it’s just watered down purple juice.

I sprayed Ultraviolet by Paco Rabanne and immediately felt like I’d been whisked into a futuristic velvet garden. The opening hits with a whisper of peppery spice and apricot sweetness that feels edgy and soft all at once. It gently drifts into a heart of violet, osmanthus, and rose—powdery, unearthly, exacting, and oddly comforting. By the time it settles, warm amber, vanilla, and sandalwood wrap me like a cozy yet mysterious hug. This one lasts. I’ve caught glimpses of it wafting off my skin hours later, not blaring, but unmistakably present—paging past the cliché, lingering in memory. Wearing Ultraviolet makes me feel quietly confident and otherworldly—as if I’m glowing in violet light, comfortable in my own strange, magnetic orbit.

Ultraviolet by Rabanne is like a Y2K time capsule in a bottle - violet, amber, and alien cool. It’s sweet but not syrupy, floral but not fussy. Futuristic grandma energy in the best way. Still smells like the future, even if that future has a flip phone and metallic lip gloss.

there are a lot of powdery violet fragrances on the market but this is so much more, crisp and metallic, very y2k imo. it’s not for everyone, not a blind buy type of perfume. on my skin it turns into some kind of bitter citrus but on my clothes it smells incredible. almost like a baby powder with iris and woody notes. there is something so nostalgic about this fragrance that makes you feel really good. not a necessity but lovely to try. the only bad part is the horrible atomizer. be careful bcs it squirts!

Reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez musc noir rose but if it was violet, the NR perfume is great but I'm personally not a big fan of rose due to memories I associate with the smell so a violet musky perfume is great :) I think it definitely has that 2000s musc but that might just be my nose

This fragrance marked a personal turning point for me at the end of 1999 – a year that was surprisingly eventful both in my life and globally. A true U-Turn moment. At that time, I was studying so intensely that I would often cry into my pillow at night. My only escape were trips to huge cosmetic stores, and that’s where I discovered Ultraviolet, and someone even bought it for me (my mom or a relative? I don’t remember that exactly) Back then, it was an aquatic-floral fragrance where powder, osmanthus, apricots, and a light peppery note all coexisted harmoniously. It was loud and had a noticeable trail, but didn't suffocate – which seems impossible now, but that's exactly how it was (much like Be Delicious DKNY would be five years later). I wore it for tests and exams during my first and second years of university; it helped me in setting the right mood. I bought my last vintage version at a flea market abroad and enjoyed it all over again. I got a sample of the modern version - can't clearly point out the differences since I didn't do parallel tests, but it's GOOD. I recommend it. Most likely, I'll get the modern version, not vintage one, as from my experience, these fragrances don't store well for long periods.

Oomph.. This is so not my perfume… this smells like old lady. I don’t think I like violet at all. Very strong scent too on initial spray. Lucky for me It turned softer after a couple of minutes. The violet disappeared and the smell had become more powdery. Still not amazing as the violet lingers somewhere in the back and I still got whiffs of it. Totall miss and unfortunately a scrubber for me.

It was love at first spray. Peppery, powdery violet. I like the complexity of it. The smell is very synthetic but at the same time soo good. In early 2000s you could smell it in every club in Europe. The first things that comes to my mind is neon lights, Guerlain meteorites, and freshly grounded pepper. After few hours it transforms to soft powdery scent. It embodies the arrival of new millenium feel and futuristic, space ship vibes in a bottle. After many years it turned into comfort scent for me. Agree with previous comment - sprayer indeed is awful.

Ok so bear with me, it’s giving purple if frutiger aero was a scent. Obviously the bottle is about as frutiger aero design as it gets (and as mentioned, the atomiser is garbage, squirts more than sprays), but somehow they made that into a scent. So there’s a sort of futuristic synthetic quality but surrounded by surprisingly fresh punchy florals, particularly the violet. Nice projection in the first couple of hours. Jasmin/vanilla/amber on the dry down. Somehow unmistakably Y2K.

This is lovely. It's a somewhat bright but soft floral, light apricot, with violet and lots of pepper. All those together and it really does make me think that if Ultraviolet lights had a smell, this is what they'd smell like. It's almost ethereal. The apricot gives it just a little sweetness. It's nice and uplifting. The bottle is rubbish, especially the atomiser, but the fragrance is worth putting up with the bottle or decanting into another.

I was curious over name& unique purple 💜 color notes&this is fresh &pretty it's okay for a freshie I like it,lasts on clothing well•☆•OK soft yet there on skin noticeable ~perfect casual clean 💜 scent~yet unique @same time~

How did I miss this one?? I collect violet fragrances, the scent of violets is a delightful childhood memory...My grandmother (whose name was Violet) always wore Devon Violets. She would have loved Ultraviolet.. This wasn't available in the stores in Australia so it was a blind buy and I'm blown away with it. Soft and ethereal, violet is dominant but the osmanthus "apricot" makes this creamy and addictive. Very well blended and not a blast in your face like current Paco Rabanne offerings. Reminds me of Narciso Rouge but the violet is much more present in this one. Very feminine and sophisticated, understated enough for any occasion. I'll be hunting for backups of this, it's soooo much better than I expected, no wonder it has lasted in a crowded market for a couple of decades.... just heavenly....

I really wanted to be mindblown by this fragrance. I like it but don't love it. I'm a fan of powdery fragrances and this didn't disappoint in that respect. However, it did lean a bit matronly. The powder from the violet is on point, but it was perhaps a bit heavy on the rose which made it lean a bit too "old church lady" for me. The interesting thing was that after a few hours, it started to irritate me a bit as it became quite baby wipe-ish when I caught a whiff on the breeze, yet when I put my nose to my wrist, it smelt different to what I was smelling in the air. What I could smell on my wrist, I liked, what was in the air, I didn't like as much. The violet does give off a "cold" smell/vibe very reminiscent of how wipes are "wet" and "cool". Ultraviolet could be worn all year round because I find powdery scents do extremely well in cold weather but it is also pleasant enough that it wouldn't be too offensive to wear out to lunch on a summer's day. For me, this isn't much of a night time scent unless it was snuggling up with your other half whilst watching movies on the couch, or something like that. It would be a good scent if you want to feel feminine, cosy, or comforted. I can especially see this being worn if you're having a vulnerable moment and need comforting and for this reason I think Janis Joplin's song 🎵Cry Baby 🎵is so fitting. Not in a mean way, just in a way when you're feeling vulnerable, maybe a little teary, and in need of some TLC. Who knows, belting out the lyrics, particularly the chorus, might give some stress relief and take you from being upset to being a superstar with incredible vocals, just like Janis!
