Ultraviolet Man

In my opinion, Ultraviolet Man is a rather average masculine fragrance built around a dominant vanilla note. I have to admit that this type of scent is simply not my personal preference. Especially because, after a surprisingly promising minty opening, the fragrance doesn’t have much else to offer. The overly sweet vanilla and synthetic woody accords are unlikely to win over a wide audience. To me, Ultraviolet Man also suffers from being somewhat unremarkable and lacking a distinctive identity. However, it does have one undeniable advantage that helps improve its overall impression: women genuinely seem to like it. Perhaps it’s the vanilla effect. Considering this factor — which is, after all, an important one for many fragrance enthusiasts — I would say that this composition could work quite well for a night out at a club or a casual party. Personally, however, I never felt particularly motivated to put that theory to the test. My rating: Not recommended. (3/7)

Why would they put vanilla in this?? Ultraviolet man would be such a good fresh scent but it has a sickly sweet cloying vanilla in its base! Definitely still a decent fragrance but I bought this for higher heat and am a little disappointed. Also this is not that close to bleecker street, maybe like 70%. It's got more mint and vanilla and is missing that blueberry/black currant zing, also bleecker street is more musky and light.

What a strange fragrance... The opening is absolutely indescribable to me.. It opens sweet and dense, reminiscent of a flower scented cleaning product. The fragrance feels thick and creamy! The drydown couldn't be more different: it smells like a spicy incense. Strange stuff really.... All in all it was a fun experience, but sure as hell I won't be getting a bottle of this

Love this on my husband. It’s a fresh sweet scent tailored for the men. My husband is a 2 spray kind of guy and for an EDT the projection is pretty darn good. This is a sexy scent.

On me, it’s indecently short-lived. Two or three hours at most. You could douse yourself with it like from a hose, and it still wouldn’t make it to midday. Otherwise, the scent is quite pleasant, 90s neon vibes, creamy, synthetic, and minty - truly unusual, like from another planet…

Its a unique fresh and sweet pleasant scent, the opening is an earthy fresh grass scent. Best part is the drydown, its a sweet slightly powdery vanilla minty scent (synthetic but works for me). Its one of my favorite frags ever since it came out. Its not overpowering but sillage is good and its longevity is decent because I overspray . Nowadays you can buy this for 35 to 40 bucks. The only other frag I smelled that was somewhat close was Tommy Bahamas st Kitts indigo bottle. Bleeker was more grassy and not sweet or powdery like uv totally different scent imo

The dry down is fine, but the top notes are not pleasant. This is disappointing compared to ultrared. I would pass on this and get something with more vibrant mint.

Let it mature for 3 months now. All I get is a bit of mint and faint woods. A disappointing perfume. 3/10

You can instantly tell it's a Rabanne by how it opens. I think it's a pleasant smell which isn't overpowering like other Paco Rabanne's I've owned The bottle literally looks like an ultraviolet tube and spraying it on feels good

I like almost all types of perfumes , some of them more some of them less , tried thousands of fragrances. This is the only unique one I don’t have any tolerence and happily gave away.

This scent is very interesting, quite different from anything I have, it's a pleasant aromatic vanilla with amber woods. Feels good to wear, I'm so intrigued by the smell that it is one of those that has me sniffing my hand constantly to see how it progresses. Longevity and sillage are moderate, nothing out of the ordinary.

Minty fresh, sweet amber that smells so good and is timeless. Very underrated IMO.

This is such a lesser-known, unique fragrance. Super rare to smell and unusual. At first I get orange creamsicle, but it quickly fades into the background... The vanilla remains, I love it this way. It shouldn't be too sweet and it isn't. There is pepper to alleviate the sweetness. It isn't so sweet that overwhelms anyway. In the later stages, there's warmth from the amber. It's a great, balanced designer frag. Almost a bit of a chameleon. I can't decide if it wants to be an amber freshie or woody frag. There's also a faint tobacco note every now and then... Is it the spice + mint? JCB is the master of the drydown. All of his creations are for me I guess! They sustain or even improve over time. 8/10

Update 11/21/2025: It's been about a month since I reviewed this scent. It definitely only projects for the first few hours (or at least to my nose), but one spray on my arm lasts all day. Safe to say I am more than happy with this purchase and will be looking to get a hold of Ultrared next. Got my bottle delivered about a week ago. Something about this scent profile is really addictive, I find myself smelling my arms several times throughout the day just to catch another whiff of this juice. It's a freshie for sure, but with a kind of sweetness to it that I'm not sure how to describe. It's almost like some kind of berry? But mostly fresh. Performance is solid, I am able to smell the scent on me for about 6 hours on my skin and easily 8+ on clothes. My only gripe is with its projection. From what I can tell (and from what I have been told by others), this fragrance projects for about 2 hours at most before sticking close to the skin/clothes. I wish this fragrance projected longer because I really like this scent profile. Maybe with time it will improve? Either way, this was not a bad buy for only ~$40. Side note: I have heard that this fragrance was reformulated some time ago, so maybe that might have something to do with its current performance and/or scent profile. Either way, I really like it.

A budget-conscious Bleeker Street. Minus the blueberry. I love Bleeker Street. And pretty much anything in that genre. This is a JCB creation after all, and his signature is easily detected within. This has a great mint note (I'm a sucker for a good mint note). I also get what my brain is interpreting as violet. I don't find it sweet at all (at least, not when compared to 99% of what is out there now marketed as 'mens' fragrances). This isn't unisex at all to my nose, rather decidedly masculine in its intent. Whatever. I really like this, and I see it being all-season versatile whilst shining most during the shoulder months of Spring and Fall. Bottle is odd, like its Ultrared sibling, but whatever. I actually take some silly joy from actuating the stapler-like trigger. Performance is average. Very inexpensive on discounters, punches above its price point.

Just had first sprays of this........Strong mint note at start and a fair while after. Dry down, a more generic woody note - no vanilla. Moderately sweet and dry. Staying power, not bad. No WOW factor ........yet. Had this for a month now, VERY disappointed with this

Nose Note #579 What a wonderful minty scent! Imagine Le Male, but with no sweetness, or Prada Luna Rossa, but no lavender. The second comparison comes closer. I'm not sure why people voted 100% for summer, because this is a very light scent, though carrying above average longevity, but nothing outstanding. The scent is not a typical mens fougere. This one is trying its best to be different. To my nose it's not so typical of its time. It's all mint mint mint. I don't think I've experienced amber like this, because I can't recognize it as amber. It's nice and special, but just not perfect. It's not super natural mint, but it's nothing trash, it's very nicely put together. It's not ultra manly. To my nose it's so unisex almost any woman could wear it confidently. 7.4/10, it's a slightly sweet and very green scent, but not manly green

This is such an unique but also hard to describe fragrance. Opening is a blast of mint and green notes, dry down is aromatic/green/ slightly minty and also spicy ambery. I absolutely love this scent and I keep it in my collection since 2010. All year round smell, office safe.

Hmm I've only worn this a few times but I'm gonna say 8/10 as a scent, but 7/10 as a fragrance because its not quite as strong as Ultrared which already is a low performing fragrance. There's a certain dark sweetness that I really enjoy in here. Definitely an Auramaxing fragrance that gives a mysterious vibe vs an inviting compliment puller lol. I also agree with the previous commentor saying its versatile. Any season, any time of day, any level of professionalism. If you like it, this will work as a signature scent for that reason. It is spring biased tho. EDIT: I'm actually gonna move it down to 7/10 as a scent and 6.5/10 as a fragrance. It isn't offensive at all, but the mint note has been making me sick when I spray it. Reminds me of Guy Laroche Horizon in that punchy mint off the top. Horizon is one of my least favorite fragrances.

A summer sweet fragrance, very typical of Paco rabanne and smells pleasant It doesn't last as long as ultra red but if you want something sweet for the summer or the hot winter months then this is a good choice, just my humble opinion

I can't wait to try this one!

Ultraviolet by Rabanne for men: Somewhere, I read an interesting article about this one that really put it into perspective for me. It said something along the lines of it having the personality of a night club. It is accurate. This one isn’t as strong as I’d like it to be, but it is different. It isn’t particularly masculine. It’s very subtle. It truly reminds me of a fog machines fog..yes, They have a smell, and it’s parfumy and sweet, Rather feminine. I bought it in the fall just to try it. It’s not good for fall. I wore it a couple times and decided to hang onto it till the warmer months came, try it again and give away if I can’t make it work. Doesn’t smell bad, just not so sure it suits me.

It's a hybrid fragrance that combines the modern sweet and fresh DNA Rabanne is famous for nowadays with the classic aromatic fougere DNA they were previously known for into a seamless whole. This is a very good blend of sweet, herbal, woody, vanilla, spicy, amber and oakmoss aromas. The mint and vanilla combo may initially come off as lavender which the presentation would lead you to believe, the more the fragrance sits with you you'll realize it's not actually a floral note you're getting and the fragrance's uniqueness will stand out more. Very well done here. This is slightly sweet, but nowhere near the levels of Phantom, Invicturs or 1 Million. It's much more subtle and allows the herbal notes to express themselves. You can clearly see the sweet and fresh DNA roots here, though, and where Rabanne went all out with them in their other fragrances. This is great for both older and younger users, a cross-generational fragrance that will appeal to both older classic fougere lovers and younger sweet and fresh fragrance lovers equally well. Unfortunately, just like Rabanne's equally underrated XS line, Ultraviolet has been left in the dust due to the popularity of the Invictus, 1 Million and Phantom lines. This is definitely worth trying if you can find it. Performance is good and the presentation is great. It's sleek and stylish and I like it a lot better than the Invictus, 1 Million and Phantom presentations. The spray mechanism is cool, allowing you to pump it like a handle and the atomization is great. This is a very good scent and product overall. Recommended.

This is my signature fragrance for more than 10 years. Absolutely love it!

A nice fresh ambery mint vanilla fragrance. Created by Cavallier and Morillas. Its not credited here but both created this one. Its not available everywhere nowadays. Dont know if they will discontinue it but its seems that Rabanne are just focusing now on Phantom, 1Million and Invictus

absolutely love this fragrance! vanilla, amber, and a fresh plant smell all in one with great longevity and performance. it's definitely one of the few fragrances I would consider to be wearable literally all year around no matter what temperature or weather. I think the bottle is goofy but I love the color of the liquid.

Blind bought this because I really love ultrared men. Best words to describe this fragrance is "key lime pie with mint and fresh cut grass and vanilla." To me it doesn't smell purple like the bottle. I think it's better if it's called "ultra green men" I really enjoy this smell, although not as much as ultrared men. I wore about 25 sprays of it on clothes only because it's cold. I really couldnt smell any of it in an hour or so. I'm curious to try on skin on a warmer day. It's pretty unique and I haven't smelled anything like it before. Overall, I like it but it's definitely on the weaker side and you will need to use 15 sprays or more probably if you want anyone to notice.

Nah... this isn't as good as 1 Million. Love it or hate it 1 million is quite good. This is alright... But since this seems to have inspired 1 million this is pretty cool.
