Beautiful fragrance, timeless classic from the 90's. Nice fresh opening with a beautiful drydown, very underrated in my opinion and a great buy ( especially since it's discontinued and can be bought for around $50). Very herbal fragrance, a must try.

Holy cow, this is really aromatic. It's like smelling a potpourri of dried herbs with a wallop of oakmoss, and I think that's awesome. It isn't a powerhouse of projection, but XS is manly as hell and lasts more than 8 hours on my skin. It's a sage, rosemary and oakmoss bomb. If you enjoy old school stuff like Quorum or Hererra For Men, then you'll like this.

Sigh. This one triggers my teen years memories. My first ever high school boyfriend used to wear this. Now as a woman I'd still absolutely love this on a man! Ah, good ol' 90s and the days of our lives....

XS pour Homme is neither an outstandingly good fragrance nor an outright failure. It sits almost exactly in the middle of my personal scale. It opens in a rather average manner, develops into a more interesting and gentler heart, and settles on a base that is solid yet ultimately unexciting. In some ways, it reminds me of Davidoff Cool Water. Compared to Pierre Bourdon’s creation, however, XS contains more greenery, particularly noticeable in the opening phase of the composition. While researching XS, I also came across a particularly intriguing opinion. Someone noted that — true to its 1990s origins — this fragrance is clearly inferior to much of what was created in the 1980s, yet noticeably better than most releases that followed after the year 2000. And there does seem to be some truth to that observation. If you are therefore looking for a safe, easy-to-wear fragrance with a fougère-adjacent character, XS pour Homme may well be a perfect fit. My rating: Ok. (4/7)

I don't know if mines macerated but it just smelled like straight alcohol, I don't get any scent apart from a faint aromatic smell

I recently got the old zippo-cap style bottle but with the greyish-purple liquid "Made in Spain." It's the interim formula between the older French-made clear liquid version from 1993 and the 2018 French-made reissue with regular cap in fuzzy box. I intend on purchasing the 2018 version soon for further comparison. I also own the older clear liquid 1993 French formula (my bottle is, after many years of wear, nearly empty). What I can say is this: The 1993 version smells more "plush" and complex to me. The treatment of accords that include notes of geranium, juniper, artemisia, coriander, dimethyl heptanol, dihydromyrcenol, Calone 1951 (yeah, it's tucked neatly in there in a very small amount, don't "at" me, bro), and a smidgen of oakmoss in the base is overall quite balanced and radiant, and for that reason I've always felt that XS is Rabanne's best masculine. I have no idea when the liquid changed from clear-yellowish to greyish purple (yet otherwise the packaging remained the same), but my guess is it happened a few years after 2002. Why? Because Himalaya is packaged in the "grey-tist" of greys, with a lot of silver thrown in there, and it smells roughly 85% similar to XS. This prompted a major flood of comparisons in the mid to late 2000s, and I believe those comparisons prompted the brains at Rabanne to tinker with the appearance of XS in a way that would allude to the Creed (can't beat 'em, so join 'em), aligning the scent profile on a subliminal level with all things "flinty," "gunpowder," masculine. The 2018 reissue only cements my impression that Rabanne's people want their fragrance associated, at least loosely, with the Creed. Color change aside, how does it smell? Compared to its original formulation, the Spanish grey formula smells more metallic and astringent, and I can understand why some compare it to Platinum Égoïste. The geranium packs more of a punch, the coriander is brought forward, the light dusting of wormwood in the French version gets a bump up from Spain, the Calone element is laid bare in the heart by a distinct lack of "plushness," everything feeling more hard-edged and austere, all being exacerbated by the removal of oakmoss from the base. It just feels harder, a bit simpler, and not quite as powerful. It is, however, pretty powerful still. It lasts 12+ hours. And it did get me a compliment, which the original never achieved, for what little that's worth. This version smells maybe 90% similar to the French version, with that 10% difference being the way the aromatics are handled. The juniper sings louder here, but juniper typically benefits from conscientious blending, and this formula isn't as heavily blended. Hard for me to say if that's a good thing or bad thing, because those who hate juniper will hate it, and those who can't get enough juniper will love it. Just as an aside, Himalaya is a simpler fragrance that XS, in either formulation. Himalaya is simply a blast of pink pepper and a sort of super bitter grapefruit-like fantasy citrus note that gets sweeter with time, followed by a geranium-meets-burnt-tea and sandalwood heart and an ambergris, oakmoss, and Iso E Super base. I really get the chord progression of Himalaya with all notes accounted for, aside form the mysterious construction of the "gunpowder" effect in the heart, which is definitely just the interplay of geranium with piney-juniper elements and some of the aforementioned things. With that said, XS offers more accords, more notes, and there's more layers in either version. It's just a more complicated composition, and there are several liminal accords that actively elude identification and complete comprehension. It makes sense that Creed was inspired by it.

A classy, crisp, aromatic, signature scent that gives you and people smelling it the idea that you are very put together, goal-oriented, and a man who values cleanliness. The dry down is definetly green-leaning with a woody backbone, but the first 2-3 hours of projection smell like clean pristine air at the top of a huge mountain with a few herbs growing around you. I get 7-8 hours of longevity with great projection for 2-3 hours! I compared the scent to a sample of Himalaya from Creed and to sum it up, it is the financially sound decision to purchase XS. Nose Note #621 This is a lot like Creed Himalaya. Creed must have been inspired by this a lot, they've practically made a dupe. Performance is about the same so I don't really know why you'd pay over for Himalaya. Although! Himalaya is more like laundry detergent and XS has a little bit of vegetable greenness. But honestly - that's only if you really try to pick the difference. I love Himalaya, but this is just as wonderful. 8.5/10, wonderful soapy old school scent

A very fresh scent, got the old style tall bottle with the zippo lid and purple juice, made for summer I think, im liking it and it's definitely got a kind of laundry clean vibe to it, takes me back a few years but still stands out.

Exactly what one would expect. Himalaya is still something more than XS because it adds an important lift, but that doesn’t necessarily diminish XS. Rabanne leans more into the barbershop theme and is incredibly classic. Watering down this and shifting the focus onto flankers is absurd. I think it’s close to Plurier, Fierce, and probably many others like Jimmy Choo, L’Homme, and numerous deodorants and men’s grooming products. But wasn’t XS the original? It’s a successful composition, without the airy quality of Creed, rather carrying a breath of old fougères somewhere in the background.

Lasts surprisingly long and has good sillage. My nose smells the fragrance to be like pushing your face into a pillow fresh out of the laundry, with a bit of sweetness to the side. The whole scent from top to the dry down gives a laundry detergent, menthol-y kinda vibe. I like it a lot and I don't regret this purchase

Wow cómo olvidar éste clásico de los 90's . A mi naríz una fragancia varonil de la década de los 90's ultra aromática amaderada y algo especiada. Siento que era cuando las fórmulas eran muy complejas sin saturación de alguna nota en especial. La usa mi padre desde entonces y por tanto de mis primeras veces que me ponía algún perfume fué éste. Dejando lo cursi o la nostalgia y los lugares que los aromas te puedan llevar, es una rica e imperdible de probar alguna vez en tu vida, aunque no imagino como sea ahora . Éste clásico debería ser la definición de cuando el público que no se adentra mucho en las fragancias se refieren a "frescas". Cítricos punzantes y notas aromáticas herbosas desde su salida y una sutileza de dulzura en el secado hacen un espectáculo. Adecuada para primavera ,veranos no tan cálidos y otoños cálidos, diurna, perfecta para el día a día , muy versátil. Gracias.

I have recently mailed Rabanne UK who have said that this is now discontinued. Bad times.

I used it when I was 19 years old, and when Im remembering it, It was quite masculine, maybe even for older guys but I really loved it. It was lasting for 5 hours and the note of bergamot was something new to me :)

Nice 90ies Nostalgic scent to me. Currently on my 3rd bottle - the most recent one is the reformulation with a slightly weaker performance. Starts "Loud and Proud" and weakens very quickly. Can be perceived as Barber Shop adopted to the 90ies. A pleasant wear. Inoffensive and solid for the office and everyday. I'm a Gentlemen - middle aged - predominantly in an executive office environment wearing suits and representing with many official gatherings.

I just bought the tall bottle, with purple juice and silver XS and it is a BEST BUY. So so good, yes a little old school, but in no way dated, like Cool Water is, pretty long lasting and such a nice scent, manly, a little playful... simply great. For me this is BY FAR the best Paco Rabanne. I can't believe how good it is and what a good price it has. It's fresh, masculine, a little sweet, aromatic... great great smell. The same type of scent like Beau de Jour from Tom Ford or Eau Sauvage EDP from Dior.

I used the new short bottle and now this with blue juice this is better performance better focused notes and less CK eternity. I like this better. If you want a hint of smoky note go for the short bottle version. I love both but this is my favorite of the two. Never used the original 90s version.

Sleek and elegant, a bit reminiscent of 2000s... Herbal but few mention: sweet. Not in a "candy sweet" or vanilla perfumes but sweet enough for ladies. Modern-classic I would say. Inoffensive and mature. Wear with confidence as a daily, harmless but interesting fragrance. For those who grew up in the late 90s - early 2000s... this will TELEPORT YOU back in high-school haha. Would recommend, on discount and it's better than many many new fragrances (Givenchy Gentleman Society looking at you - SHAME) SILLAGE is... 6/10 (10 would be an elixir concentration or Mancera alike perfumes) Longevity ... 4 to 12 hrs (if overapplied lasts longer) Great great sweet greeny LITTLE GEM!

I have got tall bottle, zipo lighter cap, purple/silver liquid. Tested side by side with old yellow juice, tall bottle. Juice is THE SAME! Perfect!Stop saying fairytales about vintage unicorns, tell people the truth. You can only sa something about differences when you do side by side testing. Same juice, SAME scent, moderate petformance, btw. yellow juice had also moderate performance.

Having been a Creed Himalaya fan for so long I have tried to hunt a bottle for years with no luck, however yesterday while at a local pharmacy I that luck changed! I thought the perfumes were knock offs as many nearby do but after taking a second glance boom I spotted not one, not two but three bottles. I took all 3 for $95NZD, one was a tester 75% full. Although overall I prefer Himalaya this is very good and will be used a ton in the office. Himalaya and Creed in general have the best musky sandalwood drydown in the game in my opinion which this lacks but boy I enjoy this! I truly never thought I would find a bottle! In terms of the current XS I do enjoy them both and find the new version 'pops' more but this could be due to my new 3 bottles being say for years, I will check their age when I am home from work today. This is slightly more green than Himalaya which will be the juniper and mint but not as green as GIT. Himalaya and GIT are cousins with Himalaya being more musky Citrus and GIT more green woody both sharing the same classic DNA drydown of Creed. For me XS slots in between them but leaning towards Himalaya. Overall absolutely happy I finally found some bottles and cannot wait to use It more. Longevity isn't the best but boy does it smell fantastic! 8.5/10 - losing a point for Longevity and half a point for the stupid bottle lid! Makes it awkward to apply 😅

Reviewing the bottle shown above. Opens tangy, a little sweet, fresh, herbal. Reminiscent of men's shower-gel or maybe an anti-bacterial handsoap (but it's clean and by no means unpleasant). Citrus notes are apparent, maybe lemon with something a little sweeter behind. Up close it's a tiny bit waxy, a bit musty, green & grassy. It's not too sweet, not too bitter (more bracing and herbaceous). Taragon is listed (after a while I do pick up something dry & herbal). A little longer and it becomes very aromatic while remaining citrussy, softly-sweet and fresh. Gets greener, grassier, ever so slightly spicy, remains tangy maybe with some green orange/mandarin notes? Starts to lose a little of the sweetness but becomes airy and "outdoorsy". (As it warms up and evaporates off the skin it does have a "piney", aromatic-metallic coolness). Subtle woody notes slowly emerge and a lovely, green-grassy, slightly bitter, ever-so-slightly nutty, musky note evolves (I'm not familar with the isolated note but maybe it's Brazilian Rosewood? It's similar to something in the original PRPH but with less "soapiness"). The musk strengthens and the similarity with the original grows but with tangy freshness replacing the classic-barbershop accord of PRPH. The woody-musk keeps developing and the composition darkens a fraction (smells a little like a coniferous wood on a dry-mountain-side)... It does smell a tad throw-back, clean and youthful nineties-style. Would suit men from the age of 25 up. Better in spring and summer. Projection decent, longevity moderate about 5-6 hours though lingers on the skin for longer. There's a crossover but it isn't exactly the same as Creed;Himalaya. This has a classic masculine profile. Himalaya feels more modern and has a stronger metallic, musky accord. As someone else mentioned the atomiser on the pictured bottle is one of the best I've ever come across! No faffing, dribbling or misfiring just a straight powerful blast. Much like an old car it goes where you point it... why can't they all do that?

I've got the oldish bottle, light purple. Smells very youthful, 90s barbershop soapy fresh aromatic. The quality is impressive, it doesn't last crazy long but I'm pretty into it and you will be too 😁

My bottle is the zippo lighter design made in Spain and old box design but the juice itself is purple. This one is really nice and definitely has a 90s vibe to it but can definitely be worn in the modern era on any occasion. Fresh, clean, soapy, sophisticated and grown-up without being too mature. Dare I say it's even better than current version of Platinum Egoiste.

3 notable versions of PR XS: The Original (tall zippo bottle, gold colour liquid), The Original Reformulated (tall zippo bottled, silvery/purple colour liquid), The Modern Reformulation (shorter & wider bottle, silvery/purple colour liquid). I have the original reformated version, so the tall original bottle style, with a silver/purple colour liquid like found in the 2018 onwards newer batches. Firstly, Creed Himalaya cloned this, PR XS came first! This has that beautiful fresh mountain air vibe with Bergamot, Juniper, & Rosemary at the top – Rosewood, Sandalwood, & Musk in the base – then notable hints of Oakmoss, Patchouli, & Geranium throughout. This has more depth and emphasised aromatic notes compared to Creed Himalaya. PR XS is more interesting, but CH is slightly cleaner, modern, and wearable. That being said - this is a timeless classic fragrance that rides the line very well between masculine & having those 'old-school' aromatic notes, while being blended so excellently that it stays fresh and clean enough to still be contemporary and very wearable! A summary of what I believe the differences between the 3 notable versions are: 1. Original - More emphasis on the aromatic notes, and these coming across as more old-school and herbal in style. A stronger punchier fragrance. 2. Original Reformulated - As stated in the main review, I think this actually places right in the middle between the old & new releases in terms of its scent profile, the best of both! 3. Modern Reformulation - I've heard this tones down the aromatics much more, and makes it much softer and fresher. This could make it more similar to Creed Himalaya and more wearable for this day and age. I've also heard it can be less interesting, or even have a feminine sweetness to it though.
