Horrendous. An absolutely disgusting mango lemonade accord mixed with mineral water. It smells metallic, dark, earthy, and herbal, stripping away everything enjoyable about a tropical fruit note. There is no sweetness at all. It might be my bottle, but to my nose, there is a faint rotten quality throughout. Thankfully, it was an inexpensive blind buy, but it still occupies a spot in my collection that it simply doesn't deserve.
Idk what note it is but this is a spicy frag. At least off the top. Maybe it’s the mango but it sure is fizzy. I think it could be worn year round but I’d almost say colder weather despite the ingredients. Year round and any time. The wormwood needs to be higher up in the pyramid. Great scent overall, but if you’re blind buying, you might feel misled based on the information above.
A blind buy that was a pleasant surprise. Green mango, aromatic and a bit sweet. Amazing for this price tag.
It's kind of shocking reading all these recent reviews about poor performance. I own a very large collection, and my original 2008 batch bottle of Polo Black (still have 1/3 of the juice left!) is easily the most nuclear fragrance I own in terms of sillage/projection, and it's not even close. I'm sure this has no doubt been reformulated over and over in the 18 years since, and current batches are probably super watered down now, but I would actually go as far as to say my 2008 bottle is TOO strong, one spray is enough to clear out a room and have people smelling you from a far distance. Seriously, they absolutely amped up these older bottles on some sort of fragrance steroids haha. Potent, sinus-clearing stuff. As for the smell? I used to love it back in the day (late 2000s early 2010s). Fruity, sweet, with a fresh laundry type of dry down. Now? Honestly, all it reminds me of is laundry detergent. Spraying this is a bit too much like literally squirting mango-scented laundry liquid on your skin, rubbing it in, then calling it a day. The dry down is actually still quite nice, the fruity/sweetness dies down, and you're just left with that fresh laundry hanging in the air type of smell. I still like to dig this out once a year and spray it for the nostalgia factor. Not sure this is something I will ever actually want to wear out in public again though haha. Edit: The Double Black flanker was always a weird one for me. I personally don't think the mango + coffee + pepper combination works in it at all, to the point where I used to find it quite nauseating actually.
its very funny this used to be considered too feminine when it released this is about 75% more masculine than every designer release now
As a man in his early 20s this is too masculine for my age 😭
I had 2 bottles of this perfume. But had to let go of this and move on. Overall, fantastic fragrance and blind buy safe. Rating: 9.07 / 10
The moment the teenager discovered night outs This was my first “grown man” signature scent. Early 2000’s and still having space in my nostalgia collection. Back then, Polo Black smelled sophisticated to me. The mango opening mixed with woods and cardamom still feels unique today. Very early-2000s in the best possible way: sexy without trying too hard. Honestly, it still smells cooler than a lot of modern releases. Really easy to wear
A genuinely underrated woodsy-fruity mash up. In my opinion, this smooth (yet very Y2K designer) fragrance has aged well. Not too sweet, enough dark woodsy maturity to temper the refreshing mango accord. I felt like vetiver and ISO E Super are both in there, but they aren’t listed. It is a bit darker than just sandalwood/sage would suggest, I can believe something like wormwood is in there but a very mild version of it. A light and dark balanced fragrance that won’t offend. I believe most men over 20 would be happy to have it on a shelf. It isn’t the photorealistic fruit capture you find in current niche, it is a simply well constructed designer. Smelled side by side with many other modern Polos of the 2020’s, it just feels more tasteful and handsome. None of the scratchy ambroxan candy here. This brand’s reputation has deservedly taken a hit in recent years, it used to be a fragrance giant which leads the industry in using synthetic materials in a classy way. Nowadays they really screech. 8.5/10
So, so weak. Coated myself in it, and couldn’t get a whiff. My wife said it smelled nice when she hugged me, and I had just sprayed it. So I’ll try again.
Unique fresh and masculine mango profile.
An olfactory fruit festival that sharply contradicts the bottles appearance and branding. I would guess this to be one of those 'Sol De Janeiro' body sprays women buy if I caught a whiff of it on somebody in public.
A reliable, versatile scent for those who prefer something classic and approachable.
When I smell this on a man I instantly have to do a double take. Like..."Who the hell has this on?" So much better than the Polo green. It's tropical and clean but aquatic. It's not heavy.
The only thing I don’t love about this fragrance is the performance. I can’t get more than 3 hours out of this fragrance. I find the scent to be very pleasing though, I wear this around the house to smell good, and will wear it when I know I won’t be out for long.
Thought it was mid when I first got it but I've grown to like it a lot. Reminds me of ADG Parfum minus the incense, add mango. Performance is good for me, got a compliment so people are smelling it. Lasts 8+ hours off clothes. The mango note calms down after 15 minutes and to me it smells a lot like the new version Acqua Di gio Parfum in the mid and drydown; not exactly but a similar dna. ADG Profumo in the "smells similar". Definitely one to try if you like a classically masculine scent.
This is criminally weak with zero projection. Beautiful skin scent, but never more than that. A waste of money. So weak.
Also Ralph Lauren….. a EDP and Parfum concentrate of this please….. very surprise with the success of this one nothing but double black.
Use to be my signature back in my high school days 2010-2014 got me hella compliments. I only keep an old bottle in my collection now just to remember those days lol. This and Aqua di gio were my only scents. On me I get a creamy smooth aquatic icy mango vibe back in the day this stuff lasted a full day on my skin when your skin temp heats up is when this shines. Think the newer bottles got reformulated. For now though my go to mango scent is Vulcan fue pretty much a updated version of this and louder tbh.
This is a really good fragrance, it's versatile and has a great iced mango scent, but, it's weak, sometimes the fragrance is gone within 1 hour. Which makes it way overpriced. Smell 8/10 Longevity 2/10 Projection 3/10- intimate
AGAGGAGHHHHHH POLO WHYYYYYYYY😭😭 this stuff smells so damn GOOD omgggg its delicious super versatile and pretty unique I love everything about this smell but GOOD LORD just like every other Polo , it smells absolutely amazing but it literally does not last more than 30 minutes on my skin, and even when you first spray it it’s such a light smell, i swear polo would probably be my favorite designer brand if they could figure out how to make their smells last longer than 30 seconds, I’m not even kidding. This would literally be my signature sent if anyone could actually smell it after an hour😵😵😵😵 I stole might pick up a full bottle though just because I like the smell so damn much😭
It's OK. You'll smell better than not having anything on, but the tropical notes here are more green and sour than they are fresh and sweet, though it is fresh. I think it's age shows because if it were released today you'd definitely have much more sweetness in this. Smells like a $10-20 pickup, not a designer. The line has potential, I think RL should modernize it and bring it back.
So this is tough for me because as an experienced collector now, I cant sit here and honestly praise this frag. It used to be my sig 10 yrs ago in my mid 20s when I was a club hopping cityboy. Truth is, its not a quality frag and theres no mango or tropical vibe. But it is actually to this day, the one frag that has ever gotten me a random compliment in public. And I’ve worn a lot of frags so take that how you will. Overall score I give it 6/10. Can be worn all seasons I guess. Got to overspray like crazy if its cold weather.
The fragrance itself is really nice for sure. Truly a gentleman fragrance, when i first got it, the performance wasn't that impressive tbh and was on me for like a maximum of 3.5hours with good projection for the first hour. Then it just turned into a skin scent which could only be picked up if people got really close to you. But after like a good 4 month maceration the scent really did improve drastically and gave me a performance of about 5hours with good projection for like 2hours. Overall pretty good scent would definitely recommend. 6/10 (before maceration) 7.5/10 (after maceration)
It’s very fresh and clean. Almost reminds me of a gin and tonic? Not really getting mango. I love it for summer nights or when I want to feel fresh. I can see how some people don’t think it’s a 70$ parfume but that’s bc it smells mostly synthetic. I also agree that it gives aqua d‘gio vibes. Like a brother of it or smth. Idk I love it but I’m sure you can find a cheaper parfume for the price.
Well it was a blind buy considering I had good memories of Polo Blue. Big time disappointed: It opens up as a cheap man's shampoo. Then I get the mango but it really gives cheap deodorant vibes. Notes are really marketing interpretations. I'm pretty sure it's just a bunch of synthetics put together. When you see Polo Ralph Lauren's clothes, you would expect better than this. It's not up to the brand image at all. The juice itself is the same as the one on supermarket shelves at 15€. 70€ retail price is criminal, you're paying for the brand and a bad juice. It would smell great for teenagers bragging in RL t-shirt but when you're a respectable man over 25 you're foolish to smell this bad & cheap. Buy a Lacoste or Calvin Klein instead. Time to kill it Mr. Ralph Lauren.
Smells like mango. Its a good idea on paper but not impressive IRL. hard to tolerate. 2/10
this is a good don't want to project like crazy and offend people scent. people will smell you but not like WOW this guy needs to lay off the cologn (most people who aren't into fragrance would rather smell less than more). the mango is green like the ma ngos skin. overall quite nice and can be over sprayed solid 8/10!!would be a 8.5 or a 9 if it lasted longer
Just purchased missoni wave it smells 90% similar!!:🤯💯
