Fresh cut green apple, enhances it even more photorealistic and then stays byKilian consistency. Part childhood teleport, part green futuristic.
For some reason it's not an enchanted forest that comes to mind, but a berry garden? I'd hoped this scent would be greener and more striking, but what stands before me is berry bushes. I know this scent is built on blackcurrant and forest elements, and here the blackcurrant is quite sweet and tart, while resinous woods and tree leaves accompany it. At the base there are warmer, slightly smoky, cozy-feeling notes. The concept is nice but I'd have been happier if it were a bit less sweet and let me live that forest atmosphere. Tag(s): berry, green, sweet, resinous, woody, cozy
A very sirupy and fruity scent. Difficult to know when to wear it. I would say early winter and early spring. When it is cold but still a bit sunny.
Just received a full bottle from France today, and I must say I am delighted. The last time I had this was in 2015, and it's been a real pain trying to get another. I was also worried about the quality of later batches, as I know it was discontinued. Well, might I say it still has its magic, Black currant note still as I remember it, though it's not as striking on the opening as it was 9 years ago. This perfume is pretty linear for the first few hours, and around 5 hours, the blackcurrant gives way to a more subtle wood, which throws it back into the realm of familiar woody scents. At that point, the foresty magic is gone, but at least you're left with something!. I believe the performance of this is better than the earlier ones, as I'm getting 6+ hours on both skin and cloth. The earlier version was very fleeting, and I struggled to get 4 hours, though then I lived in a more temperate region. The scent stays close to the skin and doesn't project wildly, but u catch a whiff of it now and then, which is great as you walk through a room. It's still day 1, so no compliments yet. I may tuck this away till the winter months when I'm sure it will perform better.
This makes me think of a baby deer frolicking in the forest, having berries for dinner and smelling wild flowers. Fresh, foresty, fruity, and only slightly musky, but in an adorable way.
Smells like a kitchen where blackcurrant jam and rose petal jam are getting cooked simultaneously on a wooden stove. Very delicate, intimate smell, smell only for me and for those who are allowed to come close enough to smell it. One of the most charming and spellbinding perfumes I've encountered. Not for New Jerseyans of Italian descent, if you know what I mean.
Grotesque opening - smells like that talcum powder and baby diaper/nappy smell - but also a really stinking French cheese smell too, like cheesy feet perhaps? Yes smelly socks... it's rare for me to hate a perfume but maybe these goons have achieved it over at The Vagabond Prince! I've never taken a disliking to a fragance house so quickly! SCRUBBER.
Unfortunately this just smells sour on my skin. I love the bottle, it's a beautiful work of art, but I only enjoy sniffing it from the bottle, especially now at Christmas time. It reminds me of European forests and drinking rum and wine in the wintertime. It would smell better as a candle. I had a blackurrant and pine candle which smelt similar. I know, I'm sorry, but it's just my skin chemistry. Maybe I can spray it around the house during Christmas time or in winter. Sadly many people want to get their hands on this. I just can't wear it.
Winter has arrived early, snow is already descending on brambles and moss. The forest floor in dark green, crushed needles and sour berries adoring rotting logs. Sticky resins and blackcurant compote scent the air along with fir saplings and it feels like woods behind my childhood home, in December. It is the scent of reveling at Yuletide: mulled wine, dark berry juiciness, brandy snaps and bayberry candles; frosty window panes and tinsel garland, plus those peculiar and mesmerizing bubble lights. There are woody layers and icy twigs, silhouettes of youth and the magic it held—"let heaven and nature sing." Berries and needles bliss, all around, watching drops of water slide slowly down an icicle, like teardrops, and depositing on the snow, leaving tiny depressions. Moments remind me of Magie Noire, still others remind me of Winter Landscape by Caspar David Friedrich. I am overcome with nostalgia, flooded with the realization of my own mortality in middle age, and feel grateful to have vivid memories of youth.
I had trouble getting my hands of a decant for years so it was just hanging out there on my to-try list forever.. Very beautiful and evocative, and very much worth the hype for me. Blackcurrant is a difficult note for me but here it works perfectly, is not too sharp or tangy but it blends in as a beautifully green undertone. Reading in a review elsewhere about 'blackcurrant gummy bears' turned me off so much I delayed testing another year. lol It actually somewhat fits but only as a tiny aspect, but this is so much more. In Goutal Nuit Etoilee which I own I find there is a contrast between foresty wood notes and fruity sweetness that does not work. Here it does. Oakmoss does not call to mind not old-school chypre at all, nor garden soil, it is just in there enough to make you think of a forest. Many claim to, not many do. Very unique and with a well deserved spot on my woodland elves scents list.
Hands down one of the most memorable perfumes I’ve had the pleasure of coming across. Enchanted Forest is very currant-forward, but surprisingly rich and complex in its layers, which will leave others guessing. While its longevity is only a bit shortcoming, the scent alone is honestly still worth it. A foggy memory of a moonlit forest, where the air is crisp and greenery muddled with berry shrubs lining the dirt path. The mulled spice notes are some trickery that tugs at you, like a mysterious spirit caught in the corner of your eye. A simple distraction-- and just like that, your next step has led you back to the beginning of the forest trail, where the greenery is traced with the warmth and sweetness of a new morning. You've realized you will have to start the journey all over again, when you feel it had only started. The spirit knows if you found their secret, however, that the game would be over, and they would lose you forever. So it remains in an otherworld that will captivate you with its presence, and will continue to haunt you every time you depart. If it’s not in your collection and you’ve been graced with enjoying it, Enchanted Forest will have you wistfully wishing it was on your shelf.
Review 26 "Mythical Forest" Wet forest trail, very nature heavy , I smell soil, wood, leaves, trees, An initial black currant blast with cedar oak. Perfect rainy mood scent. I'm getting the visual of sipping red wine in a forest, beautiful scent. This is like a three star eccentric Michelin star chef picking out his own ingredients in his own private forest while sipping wine the whole time after it rained. I would wear this on Christmas. A little dark, but very pleasant and holiday vibe friendly at the same time. If nature was a religion this would be their church incense, very natural smelling. Moss drydown. Very mythical scent. 9.6 we need a backup bottle... Update 8.6 does not last long enough. Scentrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSdm6wtBb1A Sen No Kiseki III - Behind the Lore
I'm on the hunt for the not-too-sweet black currant fragrance of my dreams and was excited to try this. To my nose, it smells predominantly of black pepper and anise in the opening, and even a tiny bit antiseptic. The dry-down is slightly woody and slightly floral, still mostly anise, and quite pretty. At no point do I get anything fruity, so my search continues... But! I layered it with Philosykos (Diptyque) which is figgy and it's quite lovely in that combo. Edit: I spritzed on a different part of my body and the dry-down now has some sugary sweetness to it, but I'm still not experiencing it as fruit. There's definitely something about this fragrance that keeps me sniffing though... I think I want to try layering it with everything I own 😂
This is supposedly sought after & I guess it’s discontinued..I bought it from luckyscent in 2017 The. The bottle is black so don’t know where the level is But have hardly used it..If anyone’s up for trade for something on my wishlist listed I’d be open for it I still have the box for it & just didn’t love the scent profile like others do & would not miss this leaving my vault
Magical, made for fall/spring outdoor rainy weather
The review of DB1414 below is sadly full of fact mistakes. This scent is nothing more impressive than my childhood memory of hubba bubba, a scent which only children enjoy. In some kind of disillusional way he tries to paint a picture of someone holding up a cup of rum and berries😆.I dont know where he got this from, but i guess the hubba bubba scent somehow made him confused😜
I decided to write a review, or at least my take on this fragrance, as I feel it doesn't get enough credit (albeit it seems very popular). In my opinion, it is one of Duchaufour's best creations, a top material 3 in my books, and I love almost everything he is doing. I've been thoroughly enjoying it for the past couple of months, partly because it evokes a festive feeling, and yet it is much more than that and can be easily worn all year round. Of course, I am talking about Bertrand's work for the house of The Vagabond Prince, Enchanted Forest. I see people describing this as a bubblegum scent (good Lord), blackcurrant jam, too linear, too sweet, and I thank God I experience none of that. I have no clue whether reformulation has been involved or whatnot, but on my skin, this perfume is a proper Duchaufour work as it is highly complex, unique, everchanging, and well-balanced. I rank it as high as fragrances like Chypre Palatin and Traversee du Bosphore in terms of complexity and uniqueness. If I were to classify it, I'd say it feels like a fruity-piney-oriental-chypre with a prominent boozy accord that runs through its heart from start to finish. It comes across as a rum accord, and the composition feels imbued with it. It is by no means overpowering (I can't stand strong booze-like facets in perfumes), just nicely placed to evoke this feeling of, well, enchantment. In the opening, you get a blast of juicy, ripe blackcurrant fruit and leaves, sprinkled with rosemary. It's so invigorating. Green, tart, and juicy. An important note is that the particular blackcurrant base used for this composition has a watery/dewy quality (hence, I don't see the jam association). So, you get this sensation of a dewy morning in the forest when the grass, moss, and branches are still covered by the moisture that settled overnight. As the perfume transitions into the heart, the pine note gets stronger alongside the resins in the base. Here is also where I start to perceive the ascend of the rum accord. I don't get any of the florals listed, yet I am sure they play their part. My absolute favorite bit with this perfume is the dry-down. It's a real treat. Moss, moss, and more moss. Overall, the mossiness overtakes the pine and the currant (as the dry-down is rather long). You might think it will end up being too green, sharp, even bitter, but here's where Duchaufour works his magic by cleverly adding a generous dose of benzoin, some vanilla, and myrrh, as well as the aforementioned rum accord to counterbalance the green and bitter-earthy facets. Somehow, he also manages to extend the blackcurrant throughout the life of the fragrance, so the final stage is this intoxicating amalgamation of dewy, mossy forest floor, wet pine needles, purple blackcurrant, boozy rum, and powdery vanillic benzoin. Sometimes, I even pick up a faint leathery touch from the castoreum, but it doesn't feel assertive enough to be worth mentioning. As you can see, my experience with this perfume is quite different from a linear fruity scent. I think the name is fitting as it does evoke a magical aura. I'm picturing a mystical forest roamed by Satyrs where Dionysios reigns, holding a cup of blackcurrant wine in one hand and a cup of rum in the other, comfortably dozing on a bed of moss and pine needles. Fruity and complex. A splash of sweet red wine on the top, then the berries, pinecones and black currant leaves take over. The base notes are really well blended, woods are present, but I can't pick out anything individually from the imaginary, plum-colored slurry. It's quite contradictory how this fragrance showcases many foresty elements, yet it's not fungal, mired, lightless, nor dormant. On me, the performance is seriously lacking; I get 1-2 hours before it becomes a skin scent. Great comparison to guava @johnstonPM! I would take this over Xerjoff Cruz Del Sur II for sure. That one similarly features guava and currant, but Enchanted Forest has more layers and grace.
It is fruity, but not from the berries. On my skin, it resembles guava candy (?) through and through, although this is not a listed note and I don't see this on any of the reviews so I guess it's just my skin chemistry. It smells fresh, bright and youthful, nothing sophisticated. The bottle is absolutely beautiful but that and the guava candy smell don't justify the price point.
Some time ago I discovered that if I wore this before sleeping when I felt a cold coming on, I'd wake up clear-nosed and feeling fine. I just recently pulled it out of storage and sniffed the cap- the sensation was not unlike getting under the covers on a frigid winter night! Cold, clear, and pleasant. Maybe not stunningly beautiful but necessary in the same way as steaming black coffee or a good coat.
Nothing special and very overrated imo
Melloneamin, amin merna quen.(1) Tula, hama neva i’naur.(2). Do you speak elvish? No? Would you like to learn? If so, speak with Caunardhon. He will teach you. How to find him, you ask? Don't worry. He will find you. Just pass the Red Lake, then climb to the place where the moon touches the sleeping dove. From there, descend along the Aylin River, and when you smell black currant, know that the Enchanted Forest is near. Wait there. If you get hungry while waiting, pick a few ripe black berries. When you bring your soiled fingers to your nose, close your eyes, block out all other senses, and inhale as deeply as you can. That's roughly what opening the Enchanted Forest is like. An intense black currant with a background of a blend of forest scents. Now, those who love black currant need look no further. I'm generally not thrilled with such dominant fruity scents. Luckily, that initial currant fades after about twenty minutes and takes a step back while other notes come forward, something woody, resinous, and green, but so well-blended that I can't discern anything specific. A very natural scent, that's quite obvious. High-quality ingredients. At least that's how it seems to me, as I mostly encounter designer perfumes that significantly lag behind in this segment. I've had it for two and a half years, and before writing this review, I checked how much was left in the dark bottle. There's more than 90ml left, which means it's been used very little. My wife has used it more. I first worked up the courage to wear it a few weeks ago, and I can say that it smelled really nice outdoors in the wind. The bottle is original. Beautiful. The cap is massive. Lle tela ?!(3) someone shouted. I knew it was Caunardhon, my old friend. A smile spread across my face. "Lle n'vanima ar' lle atara lanneina"(4) I replied, hurrying to embrace him. That's about it. Friends, Tenna’ ento lye omenta.(5). P.S. Don't bother looking for an Elvish translation. 1 - Friends, I want to share something with you. 2 - Come, sit by the fire. 3 - Are you finished?! 4 - You're ugly and your mother dresses you funny. 5 - Until our next meeting.
What on earth is going on with this fragrance? It's been sold out for like 2+ years now. I guess I missed out back when it was available at Luckyscent, but it really is unclear whether it's discontinued at this point. Some kind of weird limbo. Has anyone yet reached out to monsieur Duchaufour for details? :)
It smells like a berry forest.. you can smell the pine and berries. A great Christmas scent... for some reason I see an 80's Christmas.. a fresh christmas tree with like the berry potpourri that was poplar then. It's nice but to me I would rather have this as a house scent than to wear it.
A luscious, extremely fleshy and juicy black currant rests in a bowl of evergreens. This is like a walk in the forest but not a real forest, a fairy tale forest. The kind of place where animals talk and trees can walk. So the name is completely appropriate. And the bottle!! It’s gorgeous. Not that I would know in reality I’ve only seen pictures of it. I could only get this in a very expensive decant as it doesn’t seem to be available anymore and that’s my only complaint. Please bring it back! In a world of similar fragrances this one stands out. Perfectly unisex with about 6 hour longevity.
Absolutely gorgeous green scent with tart and fresh black currant leaves and slightly sweet and jammy undertones (also just touch soapy). It’s a magnificent herbal scent that combines beautifully aspect of both fresh and dried herbs and also some forest fruits. Straight to my wishlist.
This scent is too heavy on the blackcurrant for me, I have to be careful otherwise I will make myself sick with this scent. Sometimes even one spray is overwhelming. I like the greenness of it, and as it dries down, the wafts I get are unique and beautiful, but the black currant is almost pungent? It's just too heavy-handed, and not for me, sadly.
Smells like pine, shopping for Christmas trees. Overall positive, I can smell what is maybe the amber & the cedar more on the drydown. It sets a nice winter scene, but I wish it had a little more of a twist--it's just not exciting to me.
I was lucky to find and buy the bottle.First the bottle is very cute it resembles a big black currant berry with gold ethnic engraving .This fragrance is a smell of childhood. . A bush of ripe large black currants in grandmother’s summerhouse garden. You pick berries and they burst in your hands from ripeness. There is a pine forest around the summer house. The sun breaks through the coniferous trees, air smells slightly of warm dry moss. The currants begin to ferment a little. Very realistic currants and leaves ripened to sweetness. Fabulous.
Intriguing! At first sniff bears a striking resemblance to a brash blackcurrent flavoured cough lozenge…which is not something I’ve experienced in a perfume before, and not really something I aspire to smell like…
