wanted to love this but unfortunately it smells like burnt leather on my skin
Unisex perfume bit leaning on masculine side. Awesome performance, projection is unreal. TF really did wonders with this one.
This is not a blind buy it an acquired taste very complex scent profile imo, i love it since it Unique Very earthy i wouldn't wear occasionally. Apparently one of the frags The King of Pop Michael Jackson used to rock.
mexican chocolate + flowers in a bottle, sensational.
this perfume tryna rage-bait me, and it succeeded! never in my life i smelled anything this foul. to the bin it goes.
Utterly repulsive. Smells like a 50 year old secretly insecure divorced cougar in leopard print who’s not tasteful enough to wear original Coco. Too strong, too oppressive, much too much. I’ve never met a straight man who thinks this is sexy.
I keep spraying this on my wrist whenever i’m at Sephora because i saw that Michael Jackson used to wear this fragrance 😭 At first it smells so strong and masculine but as it dries down it leans toward unisex and that strong scent turns into something airy and earthy. Almost aldehydic on my skin, like a damp forest trail! Love ittt
I didn’t even have to open the box before I smelled it. This damp foresty smell, the kind of smell like when you are walking through a trail after it just rained. Then I got a sniff of the cap and could smell the chocolate and felt much better. I sprayed it on me and it was so sage-y and strong that I almost wanted to give up on it. But over time it’s more floral and sweet with a little bit of spice. I like it, it’s perfect for goth girlies who want a more complicated scent. Would not wear it as an everyday summer scent though, that would be brutal.
A complex scent that takes time to appreciate.
Dark, sexy, warm, spicy and floral. Unisex leaning masculine. This has a strong but soft edge so I think it works well for both men and women, depending on what you want to evoke. Personally I think this is a safe blind buy because it's not too strong in any direction. It gets warmer and sweeter as it dries down. Really lovely fragrance.
Dark seductive vampiric gothic scent. Smells like vampire lesbians in a forest sorry I don't make the rules. Perfectly unisex in my opinion. This opens spicy and a bit sharp then mellows into a complex rich smoky floral where you can definitely get the patchouli. Skip this if you dont like patchouli. Then it dries down into a warm smoky chocolate. 15/10 would recommend. Very very unique scent but not offensive by any means.
To me, this smells very fem. I hate the 10-ish minute opening, acrid and leaning bitter, but it mellows into a dark, powdery floral with some spice (it was so powdery on me that it was somewhat reminiscent of Chanel No. 5). Way later it becomes a light chocolate. This was nice, but definitely not for me.
I've had this in my collection for 15 years. I'm on bottle nr 5. This chocolaty patchouly dry down is heavenly. I prefer to smell this on men. All seasons (summer at night only).
Smells like a middle aged / older woman wearing heavy makeup and dark lipstick. Nothing for younger women in my opinion
6.5/10 Au début j'étais mitigé mais finalement pas mal, complexe.
I purchased a sample vial of this to try. I agree with the votes that it would be best worn during cooler weather. It is a nice scent, but on me it leans very masculine. Personally, it is just ok to me and not one I would ever purchase.
Ah yes the good old classic that was abused by dubai influencers for a good 5 years. Yes it is unique and all but no matter how many times i huff my black orchid soaked wrists I cannot help but think of something being wrong in this fragrance. Just wrong. Would definitely recommend !
I don’t know how to say this without it sounding weird, but to me, this perfume evokes the imagery of a decadent bouquet of dark flowers laid upon a grave that’s covered in moss at night, with a slight mist in the air. This is definitely a deep, dark, and mysterious fragrance that I think deters people away, or lures them in. I personally adore this scent, and can understand why it’s stereotyped as being gothic. The truffle in this is really strong, and I think anyway makes this perfume very earthy. It’s a beautiful scent, but like a Morticia or Vampira beautiful. I think I’ve heard that this was also Michael Jackson’s signature scent, and I know a few ‘clean girl’ girlies really liking this scent too…I guess it evokes different things to everyone, but to me, it smells extremely gothic, and would suit people with bold personalities, whether that be gothic or not. Sillage is strong, longevity is good, and it’s a classic. Don’t blind buy, because it’s definitely not for everyone. I’ve seen people recoil from this. I’m glad I’m one of the ones that love it though 🤭
Very unique fragrance. I like intense perfumes, so I bought it blindly (convinced by reviews and tiktok that it's deep, sexy and mysterious fragrance) but to be honest I did not understand the hype. It is very goth, dark and dingy, nothing sexy about it. I sprayed it once in my room and I had to evacuate as quick as possible, because the smell was horrible, and it stayed there for hours, same with Chanel no.5 when I accidentally spilled on the floor and the old vintage smell haunted my room for days. Never again.
Very very unique. My brother found it very good before I even got the chance to smell it lol. I like this one!!!! Wish it wasn’t that expensive tho.
Beautiful fragrance, im almost 26 now and this scent reminds me of my childhood where everything was MUCH better, the fragrance shops smelled kinda like this and also one of my female teachers used to wear this and I loved the trail it created around her. The smell is quite daring, it's musky and civetone like fruity floral. The musky nature reminds me of vintage scents, but the florals and fruity accords are modern. The musks, patchouli, cacao and spices make the fruity nuances to have a very weird but attractive fermented feel, that mixed with sweet creamy florals, tonka and vanilla like notes makes it so warm and beautiful for me Maybe my favorite tomford ever(from the ones I have tested ofc)
I got Black Orchid 20 years ago, and I still own the same bottle, this is still one of the coolest frags out there, unique, bold, without any mercy, it has a powerful leather back tone wich I love, you can rarely find stuff like this today. Legendary.
This is whimsigoth. So much more whimsigoth than Lolita Lempicka. I did not like this when I first tried it years ago, but I just tried it again at Reddit's behest, and I'm glad I did. I don't know if my sample aged and improved, or if I just needed to get it on my skin to enjoy it, but whatever it is, I've completely flipped. I mostly get patchouli, orchid and vanilla, and I love it.
got a sample of this because i was interested in a richer, spicier floral, and i enjoy truffle in food... but in the first hour the truffle note is too much on me. more than a little earthy. it's less orchid and more the greenhouse it's in– i smell damp as fuck. it's a musty kind of humid. a sharp floral can be found in the background if you really dig. out of nowhere comes the chocolate-covered cherries, then a mouthful of florals on top. my nose started to run soon after putting this on, and especially amped up when the florals came out so strong. five hours after putting it on, there's a slightly smoky, slightly vanilla flavor real close to the skin. even later on, the truffle came back to whomp me again. if you love florals, i do agree that it's an interesting, dark floral! if it's not too earthy on you, i can see how it would be moody and unique. but it wasn't what I wanted. I spent the whole day waiting for it to stop stinging my nose. "warm spicy" is not anywhere in this scent on me, much less the main accord. will try on clothes to see if my skin is the problem. update: days later and my sleeve still smells like wet soil with a chocolatey flower buried in it. update 3 weeks later: alright. i've learned my lesson about reviewing fragrances before they've matured. the overwhelming musty damp smell is much more toned down now, to the point where I can at least appreciate it artistically as a note that sets the scene, and it's now spruced up with an earlier blooming of the flowers. I still don't get anything spicy, and it's still not the scent profile for me, but it's not that bad.
Sadly smells really weird on my skin, like dirt and mushrooms and something lactonic? I dont get any other notes. The velvet one is way better for me, and I thought its gonna be the other way around. Update: After 5-6h the dirt-lactonic smell is gone and I smell chocolate with some flowers. Its also pretty strong, I sprayed just a little to test it on my skin. If it smelled like this from the startd Id give it a go but the initial smell is just not it. Maybe its better in fall? No idea, overall Velvet one is more sexy and I can inhale it, this one is a bit cloying. Its not a typical bad scent for me, its just weird.
Received Black Orchid as a gift and i have to say I am not a fan. For me, it leans very feminine, I can't smell the unisex vibe that this gives because for me the floral notes are extremely strong and i can't help but get the vibe of my nan's fragrance. Promptly gave the bottle to my 60 year old mum, who loves it. So maybe i'm just not the demographic for this fragrance
This almost got me. On paper it was great. On skin it was so good I bought the mini and walked out. The opening is amazing. About 15 minutes later I get into my car, I take a whiff, and I immediately think “holy moly I smell like everyone’s grandmother in 2009!” I hated it so much I returned the mini and bought something else. As I write this hours later, the fully evolved scent is much more tolerable but still nothing like that opening. Funny. This is almost exactly how Tobacco Vanille went for me. But grandpa, not grandma. 10/10 scents for people over 65 years old. They’re great, and fun to experience but I can’t imagine wearing them in public on purpose.
It smells very expensive I feel like I’m on a high rise holding a cocktail glass with my pedophilic freemason buddies and we’re all on ketamine and the stars are impossibly shiny tonight from our glass walled lounge high in the sky as Babel used to be halfway before god shot it down. Black marble and velvet lounge chairs. Smells like I planted a banana tree on someone’s grave. I want to be buried in this shit, probably what a pharaoh’s tomb smells like a couple hours after they finish up all those rites and toss him in there, incense and resin and clean stone tablets, and a brief opulent moment where the corpse seems to ripen rather than decay, the way they say the saints do. Diarrhea and banana pudding. Nyx or maybe Anubis. Unisexy
A lovely scent that started as a sweet chocolate and bloomed into a vanilla through the day. I really enjoyed this one 💖
I wanted to love this so much, smells great on scent strips at the stores kinda like headshop patchouli incense and nag champa but on my skin the truffle is overbearing and funky :(
