Costa Azzurra

Listen, on its own this fragrance is forgettable to me. However, it is pretty versatile and layers well - it has a certain sexiness and smokiness to it, but that’s pretty much the only way I can describe it.

Not a lot of smell to it? I sprayed it twice and theres almost nothing after the opening. That's really unfortunate, I was excited for the seaweed note.

Sends my mind straight to a Mediterranean summer day. A piece of magic in a bottle. At summer nights, I layer this on top of just one spray of Tom Ford Ombré Leather EDT on chest. See many complaints about this scent being week and having a lack of longevity. Not my experience. My bottle is my second one, and it’s about four years old.

The opening is decent, a loud aromatic burst of fresh herbs and soapy marine notes. It's salty and airy, basically a photorealistic sea breeze. Not long after though it does turn a bit dirty, has green notes that resemble fennel and then something like sea brine, (though on my skin it smelt like olives.) The seaweed note increases in potency and is backed by balsamic aromas, vetiver and moss. Finally on the skin there are faint wisps of oud and soft-spicy conifer woods. Performance is good, opens loud but softens within 2hrs, lasts on skin 8hrs+. This is a scent I feel would suit both sexes, though has a touch of maturity, I'd say ages 28+. Best for hot weather and more of a day scent. It's different and memorable, however not for me personally. I like the scent of a salty, sea spray mixed with coastal pines but don't wanna smell like seaweed and brine. If you love marine-aquatics that smell natural it's defo worth a try though.

You know when you go on a summer holiday to a warm country with your family or your wife/girlfriend? Well imagine you've been at the beach all day, then you come back to your hotel or villa for a shower and to get changed before you go out for dinner. You leave the villa and walk to the restaurant. This fragrance smells like that walk to the restaurant. The sun is setting, it's warm but with a cool breeze in the air, you can hear the ocean and you are wearing a white linen shirt, have a tan coming along, and you feel totally relaxed. It's got an amazing blend of wood and citrus notes that smells so Mediterranean. For me, it works better in warmer climates but i think you can comfortably wear Costa Azurra EDP Day/Night The main problem however with this fragrance is the longevity is not great. After 1.5-2 hours it can only be smelt on the skin, and after 5-6 hours, it's pretty much gone

I'm yet to find an aquatic I genuinely enjoy. And not in the "It smells nice, pleasant" way, but in the "It's different, stands out" way. Currently, Ocean Oud by Ramon Monegal holds that title for me, which is a drastically different fragrance from Costa Azzurra EDP or anything you'll find on the designer camp. So what am I doing here then with Costa Azzurra EDP, knowing damn well that I won't be finding the aquatic I'm looking for from any designer house? Truth is, I just had a sample laying around, so I might as well... There's not a whole lot to unravel here, as there's not much complexity as you'd expect, yet I guess it can be considered slightly above average compared to most other iterations of the genre. Immediately you get a bright, sharp aromatic lemon that is complemented rather nicely by some crisp, evergreen-like cypress with mellow hints of spice. The aquatic accord follows soon after, setting the tone to the Mediterranean coast (apparently), with a gentle marine saltiness that is fairly well implemented, but still appearing more synthetic than actually salty. Frankly, it's quite synthetic overall. Further amplifying that marine vibe, the driftwood adds the impression of, well, driftwood floating in the sea, soaking wet on one side, sun-bleached dry on the other. It adds a very airy woodiness which is contained by not only the salty aquatic attribute of the composition, but also an ambery coating which very gently offers a sweet layer that can only be attributed to amber, made a little more distinct by involving some cistus which offers a touch of balsamic warmth. That I'd say is what makes Costa Azzurra EDP a tiny bit more distinct than other aquatics on the designer scene, even though in the broader scheme of things, it is just another pleasant aquatic blending in the shelves at Sephora. The amber coating doesn't save it, as it's more subdued. Regarding aquatics, I long abandoned the idea of great performance and instead simply focused on finding a worthwhile scent profile of the genre, as there's imply not much performance these freshies can put out. Costa Azzurra EDP, for one, lasted at best 6 hours on my skin, and its projection softened down significantly after the first decent hour, getting to a hardly-detectable status by the 3-4 hour mark. Overspray as you wish. On the other side, though, fresh-aquatics are the most easy to wear, accessible, versatile fragrances there are. It's basically their whole purpose and selling point, ESPECIALLY when it comes to designers. So, Costa Azzurra EDP will serve anyone, anywhere, anytime, but certainly, summer is the designated season, and a holiday along the Mediterranean coast seems to be the ideal context for Costa Azzurra EDP. However, it is far from the ideal aquatic for me, more so with prices reaching €150. It still lacks any defining quality that could spark my interest. It might be more interesting and distinct when compared to some of its peers, but in the end, it's another fragrance that cares about getting your money first, then "attempting" to deliver your money's worth. And that applies to the majority of the designers and niche fragrances. So I'll keep drifting from shore to shore, until I find that aquatic that finally delivers something worth throwing my anchor overboard for. A great summer scent. Slightly more floral/powdery coming from Oud Minerale, with a bit more mass appeal. Not at all linear, but very familiar to other aquatic fragrances.

The parfum part of ADG Parfum without the projection or longevity.

I can definitely pick up on the poop accord.

Smells like Boucheron Pour Homme EDP, except it costs five times and much and performs less than half as well.

I would wear it meeting someone’s parents for the first time for a picnic or a boat outing.

This has always been my dumb reach for hot days. Something about it is so refreshing. My 3rd bottle now

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING. While the opening is positively strong and elegant, the whole scent barely lasts 30min, 1 hour at best. I did try it before buying but the duration didn't seem that bad. I used to feel bad about Dior Homme Sport not lasting much, but this is much worse. A huge mistake.

Fell in love with it when I gave it a sniff years ago. I purchased it last year just really disappointed it doesn't last long. Would recommend purchase a travel size for yourself

Its smells so good, but it performs so poorly. very disappointing, what a waste of money.

Honestly I regret blind buying it, The performance is very weak! 2 hours at max, Plus the scent profile is below average.

This is a pleasant but bit feminine fragrance to my nose.

+ I just realized tha Costa Azzurra, is literally an alternative and more safe version of Timbotku, maybe the elements aren't the same, but the core is very very close, i fear that was a way to make a more mainstream version, however try Timbotku, in my opinion is better and more deep and better composed in the entire formula. Timbotku evolves into something special, CA opens very nicely, but then goes into something i never liked so much. This might help exploring other options. it should also be a good combo layering both.

If you don't like this fragrance or find it bad, you can't identify a masterpiece.

I sprayed it on a test paper at Dillard's. Smells old fashioned, clean fragrance with a leather undertone. It's piney-woody, I agree @adichowdhury. @DanelPutintsev It doesn't really smell like Sauvage. Sauvage had tons of ambroxan and bergamot.

What does it smell like? In my opinion, this fragrance smells like a landscape painting of a beautiful rocky beach surrounded by nature during summer, somewhere between the South of France and the Italian coast. That’s it. That’s the feeling. This is the classic type of fragrance that you either love or hate. Personally, I really appreciate the fact that this fragrance can make me feel like I own a yacht and have just stopped by the coast for an absurdly expensive luxury lunch overlooking the sea. Because that’s exactly the kind of atmosphere this fragrance communicates and it does it incredibly well. Despite the large number of elements and ingredients inside this fragrance, everything feels blended together so perfectly that you can still distinguish every note clearly. The lemon, the cypress, the woods, the lavender… you can perceive them all individually while still feeling part of the same picture. If you smell this fragrance with your eyes closed, it genuinely feels like you’re looking at a photograph. Tom Ford Costa Azzurra is not a fragrance you simply throw on without thinking. It’s a fragrance you need to know how to wear. You need to find the right moment and the right setting for it. But when that perfect occasion comes, you’ll probably be the person wearing the most fitting fragrance in the entire room. Personally, I imagine this fragrance perfectly at an expensive seaside restaurant during summer. Blind buy? Absolutely not. But this is also the kind of fragrance that might not impress you immediately at first smell, and yet slowly grows on you over time until you realize you absolutely want it in your collection. Because honestly, in my opinion, there’s truly nothing else on the market quite like it.

The fragrance is so nice I went to Italy to wear it properly. Love the piney-woody drydown. Lasts well for a citrus-wood type fragrance, scent stays noticeable and hearty for about 5-6 hours.

Not much great to say about this. Opening is really sour, smells like when you get a really acidic tomato sauce with basil. Then when that fades, in about half an hour, it smells like if HUGO by Hugo Boss was a bit more herbal. I love that fragrance, but can get a 100ml for 20 euro’s. Then after no more that two hours you’ve got to push your nose on your skin if you want a chance of smelling it again. The positive thing I do want to add, is that it’s a really nice bottle. Great packaging.

I was hooked by the opening but the dry down was disappointing smells like dry herbs (on a bad way) 4/10

It's a nice scent. Summery and airy but leans heavily masculine which is a shame for me as I only wear feminine or straight up unisex. Still a nice fragrance

Basically giving off rich Nice (France) / Cote d’Azure beach vibes

Got the parfum a few years ago. Wanted a backup. Heard this was similar. Why wouldn't it be, right? It is. A little more citrus up top. Both are epic mens masculine summer fragrances. These aren't teen summer freshies. They are mens summer colognes. A wealthy smelling man on a white boat with a bright yellow sun gleaming down on him, from a sky with no clouds in sight.

Smells exactly like walking in Paris in summer. Which is to say, it smells like warm old piss.
