Midnight in Paris

I bought a 2010 decant of this interesting men's fragrance and find it really intriguing. It is very similar to Worth's Dans La Nuit for women but with an animalic bite. They even have similar bottles with the round shape with stars. An hour in after application there is an odd 'funk' that is standing up quite loudly - and yet, it still feels like a great choice for women, probably because of the powdery note.

If I get a whiff of this on a man I will want to rip his clothes off

Dua has a version of this that is Practically a 1of 1 the good thing about the clone houses is they can bring back discontinued fragrances.

This is a very interesting masculine fragrance that has so many notes and complexity. I do get a hint of rubber that does remind me of Bvlgari Black, but it's not as literal rubber as that one. This has more going on, more sophistication. The almond, tonka, and synthetic leather are well integrated. I get no citrus, no flower, and no plant notes. There is a powdery airiness to it despite the notes. I can see how this is unique. It's not for me, but I understand the appeal.

The leather hits first, then that warm vanilla-tonka wave comes in and wraps everything together… kinda addictive ngl. It’s not loud, but it speaks calm confidence type.

years after its discontinued still top2 most popular perfume of the brand. Big L. VC&A are extremely dumb AF not to re-release it given its popularity at least, can any of the arabian clone houses make this? I love midnight in paris, both the edt & edp

I bought Prada Black recently hoping this would scratch the Midnight In Paris itch. Well it didn't at all. MIP has an addictive powdery creamy profile with leather and touch of citrus sweetnes. It's pure class. The only scent that comes close id Blvgari Black. MIP is probably the most unfortunate discontinued scent of all time.

To all those ignorant folks who think that this fragrance is worth only $20. Before about 2010 all fragrances that weren't sold were destroyed. But such practice was banned and they were taken by businesses that started selling them for much, much, much less. I remember when it happened, because all of a sudden expensive fragrances could be purchased online for just $17-20. I couldn't believe my eyes and wanted to buy plenty of them. Therefore, if you see any fragrance for that price, it means those fragrances are only leftovers and not of cheap quality... Department stores keep fragrances for about 3 years, then they get rid of them, after all, more new fragrances are coming...

I just found a tester of this standing neatly next to some bottles of Hermes. A discussion with the sales associates and a couple calls to the managers and i snagged this for about $8 for a 90% full bottle. Can't smell anything as the sprayer is defective ao i'll decant a bit of this out. But really happy to find this rare discontinued gem so unexpectedly!

One of the best fragrances that I have ever owned. So sad that it has been discontinued. If i was a wealthy guy Id buy this against at the high price..hoping someone will create a good dupe..its a magical and comforting fragrance that is truly unique..nothing smells like it....still.

I purchased this fragrance maybe 10 years ago for under $30. At that time it was probably the best cheapie blind buy I’ve ever made. I still have that bottle and it’s 70% full, thank god because I’m not paying that $300 markup for it now! Pretty good juice tho!

Am i the only one getting Dior Homme 2011/intense, powdery iris vibes? Smells like the old Dior Homme!

One of the most beautiful bottles I've seen for a fragrance -- I could care less about the juice inside. It smells of the cheapest rubbery bottom-of-the-bin burnt PU-leather. The opposite of luxurious. Definitely overrated.

Spraying it today was way more than a daily act of wearing a scent; it was a quiet celebration of making it through a journey I never expected to face. I won't bore anyone with a total breakdown of the scent, like I usually do with extremely rare, weird Middle Eastern fragrances to assist others with blind-buys. People have done that a hundred times before me, and no description can convince anyone to consider a discontinued nostalgic masterpiece. Midnight in Paris is a multifaceted experience, transitioning from citrusy freshness to smoky suede. There's an elusive, fleeting hint of burning tires or asphalt that appears at random, a theme I've come to appreciate in other perfumes as well — thanks in large part to this and Bvlgari Black. The bottle, with its constellation design, is absolute perfection — an ideal match for the fragrance itself. This is the most amazing, breathtaking fragrance I have ever tried, period. It brings back memories from high school when I stumbled upon it for mere pennies, and from that day forward, it became my signature scent forever. It opens a nostalgic portal to the past — and let's just say, the ladies couldn't resist it. When I was younger, I went through countless bottles of this and the EdP version over the years, but the last one feels special. I remember getting my final bottle from a reseller who unknowingly gave me a cheap gift; he didn't seem to realize what kind of liquid riches he was selling. I'm praying for Middle Eastern clone houses to re-release this as a 1:1 copy, as the other similar ones I know of are decent reprints but don't fill the void. Check my reviews (Ctrl+F 'midnight') in case you want to find something 60-70% similar. Yet, they always tend to miss the fresh green-citrusy note. Bottles of Midnight in Paris from resellers are now up to 10-20 times more expensive than their original price. I'll stick with my remaining bottle from 2014. At my current pace of use, it will likely remain my treasure for life. I probably wouldn't have started my perfume collection if it hadn't been for Midnight in Paris. As I wear it today, it feels like the perfect companion for this new chapter. It reminds me to savor life's fleeting and irreplaceable moments, much like the fragrance itself. Its rarity makes it all the more fitting for celebrating milestones that can never be repeated. Adorning myself with it today wasn't just about indulging in nostalgia — it was about honoring the strength it took to get here. EDIT: The first line of care didn't work out. At least it gave me another reason to reach for this glorious thing — I sprayed it again after leaving the hospital following a three-week stay for ASCT. Even through setbacks, small moments still count. A few months later, I'm still in remission. Shoutout to the pioneers of PD-1 and nivolumab. This is my wife's favorite scent on me especially on colder winter nights. The chilly air really makes the powdery clean and leather vanilla pop. Personally I think it's just okay. Don't know why the wife loves it so much. My sister and mom also loves it. Don't get it.

I was lucky enough to find a 70% bottle of MIP after a long search and it did not disappoint. Yes, it's very similar Bvlgari Black (which I def prefer) but MiP is darker, rounder and smells like a big dark blue fluffy bed. If they would've eased back on the powder, I would enjoy it much more. Def a powder bomb more apt for cooler weather. Atomizer SUCKS..it just pops off making it leaky if not careful. I wonder if Clive Christians Amberwood is an improvement in this style? @Swashbuckler9x Bvlgari came out many years before this. MiP is the child of that frag.

Amber is prominent right in your face at first spray, then it recedes and disguise itself in powdery base. also there is a comment about malfunctioning sprayer, mine is also causing trouble. i think it lll be gone after some more sprays

I've had this for a decade or so now. I first bought it because I've always loved Bulgari Black and they're quite similar. This is actually cosier and where BB has an edginess this is more warm and rounded thanks to Tonka and Benzoin. I love the way it actually does suggest the scent of an evening in Paris - a hint of smoky cigar, herbs, vanilla (from your dessert at the end of the evening!) and the subtle touch of florals to suggest women's perfume. Really easy to wear at this time of year (late autumn into winter). Love it.

My bottle has a broken sprayer. It just leaks and i cant spray anymore. Dont know why it broke. I have to try to extract the Juice to a decant

Sweet, soft, ambery vanilla with soft florals and a touch of suede. It's beautiful.

Powdery benzoin, that’s all I get. Skip every other note and go straight down to talcum powder. It could be from its age but this is extremely fresh, clean and feminine smelling

An oriental masterpiece, blended to perfection. One of the fragrances I'll miss the most when my bottle runs out. Which it will, sooner than I'd like to admit. Soft-spoken, dark yet powdery. Sexy, balsamic, a little sweet. The untouchable, undisputed date night king. It's tea and tonka in facets, it's almond and incense in others. I even get something akin to a vaguely vanillic fir resin, or tolu balsam... Something Palo Santo-esque. Powdery leather vibes in the drydown made with S-tier oils. In all its allure and seduction, it eventually becomes faint. Created to linger on your scarf more so than your neck. It is absolutely oriental, not a syrupy gourmande, not a fresh spicy scent. The moment you smell that opening for the first time, it's "...oh.". The tone is set, make no mistake. It skips a lot of the top notes you come to expect in perfumery in its opening. Absolute 0 alcohol vibes aside, it feels like the moment you spray this, you're getting what you'd think it smells like a few minutes after it settles; a most fascinating asset. I can see how Luna Rossa Black and Bvlgari black are children of this... Sadly, they don't come close enough. In fact there's an undeniable kinship to my nose between this can Eau De Baux by L'Occitane, even though that one goes the greener, pine-ish route with its powdery. Van Cleef released a Bois D'Whatever that was supposed to be a reimagining of this, with its new bottles. The black square bottles with tassles. Honestly, a half-assed excuse for Midnight's discontinuation, there's an uplift here within this one's sweet subdued charisma (while not citrusy per se, probably the effect of citrus) that has not been replicated. Not even by the very house that launched this, sadly. I'd even take a reformulation over what happened, believe it or not.

[1275] Midnight in Paris is a much-lauded, much-missed scent that I have wanted to try for a long time, given its reputation as a unique and clever leather composition. I obtained a small decant (I would love to own the beautiful bottle, but the juice is usually the most important thing for me). It is a leather scent, surprisingly sweet and balsamic. I sprayed Bvlgari Black, to which this is often compared, on my other wrist for comparison. Black is my preference - its smoky, burnt rubber accord sets it apart, but MIP is a great leather scent in its own right. It more closely resembles Prada Luna Rossa Black in my opinion, another decent modern scent, but MIP came first. Van Cleef & Arpels is underrated as a fragrance house in my opinion, and this is a case in point. MIP is leathery from initial spray, smooth and balsamic. There is no birch tar here, or similar woody dryness. There is a light herbal undertone, adding freshness up top and complementing the leather accord nicely. The tonka bean follows, adding soft sweetness to the leather accord, amping up the balsamic quality of this scent. The almond note follows, its sweet nuttiness melding nicely with the tonka while adding interest to the leather. MIP becomes a balsamic amber scent as it progresses, the leather becoming a whisper in the background. It is a seamless progression, smooth and satisfying. It becomes a sweetly musky skin scent as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Despite its marketing, it is perfectly unisex, and despite its name, it is daytime appropriate, best worn in autumn/winter. A smooth, balsamic scent with a leather backbone, MIP is deeply satisfying throughout. A well-composed, creative scent that manages to be wearable, it is another discontinued gem. Subtle brilliance. 4.5/5.

Has a very powdery smell, kinda like baby powder, there is also a little bit of Escada magnetism DNA mixed in there. even though it is powdery it still smells pleasant, the biggest drawback is that the atomizer breaks off these bottles very easily, I only used this twice and then the third time when i took the cap off the atomizer and spring fell off on to the floor, this also seems to be a common problem with this fragrance as i seen other instances on the internet

I still have my 4.2oz full and a 2.5oz half full that I cherish, I can’t tell you how many compliments I have gotten on this fragrance. Ladies go crazy for this! Nothing quite like it out there. To think you could get this for 25$. I wish I could go back in time and buy 20 bottles. Or they could just bring it back like everyone wants.

A really good, solid night fragrance for fall/winter. It gave me a super romantic vibe. So sad it got discontinued, I miss it...
