My favorite fragrance!! Does anyone know of a dupe/something similar?

My bottle was a blind buy over a decade ago. It's still more than half full and now it's going for almost $100?? Wow. I still like it, but I almost never reach for it now.

If you’ve ever eaten kumquat (tiny, elongated orange-colored citruses that are eaten whole with the rind)🍊, you’ll probably never forget that bursting💥 sensation of sour, sweet and slightly bitter tingling in your mouth; a very fragrant citrus revelation. VV has a similar opening with lots of lemon 🍋 involved; very energizing and crisp with some playful and happy sweetness. Very lovely on a hot morning. However within half an hour it falls flat to a nondescript mish-mash of florals and clean white musk, not very unique or long lasting. Still, the opening redeems VV for me. I’ll continue to wear it in the hot mornings but probably won’t seek a repurchase.

Bought a 3.4 oz example to relieve childhood/teen memories, and it seems my tastes and this fragrance have evolved. When i was young i never encountered a fragrance like this and really believed it was one of the most unique and complex perfumes on the planet, i was truly captivated. It came across so smooth and clean, like you showered in liquid jewels leaving you dripping in glittering opulence; Im telling you, it was such an expensive feeling experience!!! Coming back to this fragrance a decade later, and its sad that i dont feel that same spark. All the notes were there, it was just more musky and floral than I remembered. I always recall equating this perfume experience to laying on a velvety purple cloud, and im just not getting it this time around. A reviewer said that they sprayed this on themselves and felt that they smelled like the inside of a handbag, and i believe thats spot on. If it weren’t for nostalgia, i couldnt see me going out and buying this (unfortunately overpriced) discontinued perfume. That brings me to the price!! Keeping in mind, the fact that most examples of this fragrance are going for about $100, i dont feel like this is an aromatic experience valued at that. That being said if you have the opportunity to try this, DO IT; but dont break the bank blind buying this or something. All in all id rate this currently 6/10, but if you were to ask 13 year old me i would have genuinely given you 10/10…very interesting how taste’s change and evolve 🤠

DISCONTINUED FRAGRANCE REVIEW NO.#9 / 10. KittyDeBeauvoir Vs... 'Versus'! Round 1: 'Versus' opens quite citrusy and zesty, but that kumquat sweetness does waft out after the initial blast. After that, this basically becomes a very non-descript citrus floral. We have slightly sweet kumquat/orangey opening with something also sour...? Sweet and sour, but with no delicious Chinese pork to accompany it. After that, you get slight orange flower and...some stephanotis. I have some stephanotis growing in my garden and...it's such a shame that this perfume becomes as generic as it does because stephanotis smells GLORIOUS! No rose. Don't pretend there's rose here. Don't be playing that game. It does dry down to some musk, but not a joyous one - and I love me some musk *growl*. This does become more warm and cozy, but there's a synthetic aspect to it that dominates. Truthfully, this leans unisex. I feel this has a very "cologne" vibe to it. Round 2: It's painfully weak. I'm constantly bringing my hand up to smell whilst writing this review. Alas, and each time I expose myself to that sour citrus with synthetic muskiness. I do this for you, The People. Longevity is... forgettable, really. I don't recall how long this lasts because I'm not finding it captivating enough to bother to watch the clock. The bottle is okay. The purple isn't my favourite shade nor am I repulsed by it. Cap clicks nicely. The hombre effect is its most appealing aspect, but it doesn't make me feel like this is essential even from a "collector's" point of view. Round 3: I haven't said anything particularly glowing about it, but if you want a inoffensive, generic perfume that helps for those days where you just can't be bothered to take a moment to really make a decision - Versus is your man. Or woman. Or mixture of fragranced oils. What have you. It's discontinued and it's not the greatest olfactory tragedy. It's fine, but dull. I'll use up my 30ml bottle, but won't repurchase. As such, not repurchase-worthy. K-O! *** Kitty rating: 3.5/10.

I unwisely put this on as a tester thinking this would be interesting. Didn't realise it was perfume. I smell like a handbag now. But fair enough, i can still review it. In terms of perfumes, I dont think this is one of the best. Its like a mix between Ralph Lauren Blue and Body Shop White Musk. I mean, there must be a market for that. I can imagine wearing this fresh out of a shower after yoga class, (wait.. would i even look good in lyrca, i digress)... but still, its just not very sophisticated. This is functional but just shallow and frankly a tad cheap.. If you wear this regularly, you'd probably also be drinking pumpkin spice latte and asking underpaid retail staff if you can speak to their manager. If Versace were targeting the Karen market, this is the scent they would use. Its the kind of scent you would wear if your husband or boyfriend insists on wearing 1 Million or Sauvage when you go out together. It smells fresh in the same way as a night out in Essex would be described as lively or charming. You have to be "that" kind of woman. I'm just a bit grumpy as im travelling atm and too far away to grab a shower to ironiclally shower off the shower fresh scent. But yes, i tried layering it with 212 VIP Men, but thats not working well. This perfume is proper hooker-lite perfume - if i wore this next to you on the train, you'd think i was a trainee stripper. but yes, otherwise, smells great.

A touch of sweet lemon and a fresh cologne type of scent. But feminine enough. It is sweet and mellow, but a bit aquatic and soapy to me. Surprisingly lacking nose-burning sharpness. Not my thing but I love the bottle. I can see it appealing to someone who wants to smell shower-fresh well after their post-workout shower.

One of the perfumes I bought more than once when it first came out, I was looking for something different as I was at a new chapter in my life (left home for uni) This perfume was incredibly refreshing!! It’s quite a showery (clean) scent which comes from the citrus blast but the floral muskiness settles well making it a true unisex perfume

I love it, its just pleasant and has an expensive smell to it.

versus on a hot sunny day mid summer. skin test from a new aquaintance's bottle, not sure of age bottle, looks well cared for though so i dont think its gone off. same as my previous experience with this, versus goes a bit 'nothing' on my skin. pale, clean, musky, synthetic. you know that generic fresh and gentle smell in drugstore scents... its like theirs a vein of that running through (nothing against drugstore scents). i will retest my bottle and see if it has the same effect as the one i tried today. it could be just what this one does on my skin. ive never card tested it. this scent is not available in stores that ive ever seen

I've repurchased this perfume many times! It's that amazing & addictive.. Well to me at least :) I feel this works best in cool temperatures, Or at nights. I've tried in warm weather & it just doesn't smell the same...? Something about the cold that brings out the magic in this❤️ It's not your typical sweet fruity perfume. I have over 80 different perfumes, this one is like no other! It's citrus (not orangey) and aromatic spicy at the same time, the spice isn't sharp though, It's alluring and definitely attracts compliments. I love that it lingers on & on. I'm giving this a solid 7.5 / 10 Tomorrow I'll be repurchasing this again! As I've finished another bottle. I always MISS Versace versus.❤️

I am a guy and I had a crush on a straight friend and I was wearing this and he gave me the most beautiful compliment when wearing this on a summer night. Nothing happened, but he loved my pérfume... SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!

A lovely fruity scent, but nothing standing out of the crowd.

Blind buy from years ago and wound up finding a large bottle at a discount store. I love it because it's not too forward like my fall nighttime fragrances. It's appropriate for day and any season really. I don't know all of the terms you all use, but I know it is fresh but still musky. Not imposing, but will last a little while.

Love it. Especially in the winter. Most people find it a summer scent, but I like how the perfume develops and shows its true notes when it's cold outside. Feels warm and cozy in the cold weather, and somehow "delicious".

Revisited this fragrance and consider it a love, not just a like anymore! The citrus/fruity sweetness really smells great with the rose and musk. That's what I mainly get from it, and really love the refreshing combination. Decent sillage, but only lasts 3-4 hours as its one shortcoming for me. I'm not a big musk lover, and I really find the musk dominant in this but adore it still.

The first minute after spraying this perfume you smell like a teen boy. But the dry down smells like a pleasent unisex shower gel. Versace versus is a clean citrus, slightly fruity fragrance. On the skin it is not cold at all. This smell is nostalgic to me so I like it, but other than that, this is a cheapish clean smell good for the gym

If you are into fresh citrus acidic oceanic smells this is def one of the best ever, this is my most favourite versace frag. Always receive compliments whenever I wear this frag.

So disappointed! I got this as a cheap blind buy. This is not a feminine floral fruity on me but instead a male/unisex minty frag. To much gardenia for me.

This is one of the best perfumes ever, to my mind. I love it. It's SO refreshing; sweet and sharp and fresh. The flowers and fruit are so good together, and the patchouli, and the amber and musk smooth it all out. Everything in it is superb. A gorgeous mix. Perfect for me. And I ADORE the bottle and the fantastic purple!! Stunning! It lasts really a long time on me, and the sillage is really good (fills the room) but is not at all overpowering - it's subtle and fresh. Wonderful.

Oh I just adore this perfume. It's one of my very favourites, and I love spraying it on top of other perfumes, to give them a lift! It's a phenomenally beautiful and vitally fresh, juicy, scintillating, exhilerating, lovely divine fragrance! I love the fantastic colour, and the very smart and classy, masculine looking bottle; it gives extra intrigue to the wonderful elixir purple elixir inside! Extremely female though. Very strong and adorably female. Very heavenly!!

This has instantly become my signature scent!!! I am totally and completely head over heels in love with it! Oh my god, it's the most gorgeous thing I've ever smelled!! All the notes are there and strong! It lasts easily all day without needing a re-spray, and the sillage is fantastic!! Oh I LOVE IT!!! It's SO feminine! So intensely womanly - female! and strong - very sure of herself womanly. Very settled in herself and can do whatever she wants, whenever and however she wants. It's all about her own strong will. She doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, and she feels unique. She IS Versus! She is BEAUTIFUL! She is the colour purple - this strong, Royal Purple - the highest Queen!! Nothing comes anywhere near her perfection! BEAUTIFUL!!! I bow down and worship her!!!

Well, it's obvious to me that no-one knows the scent of the flower stephanotis, because for me it is the dominant scent in Versus. Immediately upon spraying, I smell this heavenly flower, and it is there right through the day. It's a beautiful, sweet, fresh, delicate scent, with a slight crisp edge, which I love! Also, the very beginning has the wonderful scents of kumquat, star apple and delicious lemon, followed after about an hour by the other flowers, gorgeous rose and scintillating african orange flower. Ooooh so sweet, slightly sour, and intoxicating! Then, at about 2 hours comes the lovely soft gentle musk, with wonderful wonderful patchouli and scrumptious ambrette. All in all a fabulous creation!!! I think Versus is exactly what Donatella apparently wanted: it is for a strong-willed, adventurous woman. It is so fresh, invigorating and yet soft and sweet and very alluring. Longevity is fantastic (well over 12 hours), and sillage: nicely gently surrounding me by a couple of feet most of that time, and then moving closer to me for the last few hours. A completely perfect perfume - thank you Donatella Versace!!! I am a woman who is her own person, and does not like to be categorised - like Versus!!! Excellent perfume, GORGEOUS, stunning bottle and colour too; such a perfect strong purple!! Total perfection all round!! Edit: Forgot to say how much I love the box too - such a fabulous design, and that purple!!! The best colour!!

Ooops, I did it again... :) Another blind buy. Well... Pleasant surprise. Although I am not exactly astonished. It's nice. It has a very sharp citrusy start. In quite short moment it dries down and turns into more flowery, bit creamy scent. Slightly bitter as well. It is nice mixture. At the moment I'm not sure if I'll buy another one. But maybe I'll get mad about it over the time. It's just my first day. Things may change... ;)

Versace Versus smells amazing on my skin! Citrus-musky, delicious & crispy... It is a perfect Summer scent. Yummy & sexy!

At first thought its a man frag and accidentally bought for my fiance.It smell so strong at first i tried at the store and after find out it was for women and spray it to my skin, i think it perfectly suits me.Really nice smell. (So i need to buy a new one for him)
