I ordered ahmed al maghribi “Zuraiq“ according to a commenter below and unfortunately it smells nothing alike. It smells like a combo of YSL Paris (violet, rose, some green) and a highly diluted cinema :( ( little amber and clementine) truly not even similar, it’s very musky and floral, so if you were also hopeful I’m sorry to break it to you. There is absolutely zero similarity. In Australia there’s a few companies duping it spot on (from what I’ve read) but they don’t ship anywhere other than aus. Heartbroken.

By the website, my decanted vial is the 2004 version. It smells like an ambery floral scent, whatever those flowers are. It smells quite nice but I don't have much else to say, maybe because it's too feminine and sweet to me.

Lost all my respect to this fucking house for creating the SLOP that is the new version. I just bought a bottle for 250€ because I can’t live without it. This can’t be real, why is everything good getting discontinued?? What is happening in the fragrance world reflects deeply our world which is losing all its color and essence. Pls keep posting dupes everyone, it really helps. This perfume means the world to me.

Another one bites the dust. Fancy replacing this warm, golden beauty with the boring 2024 generic slime. For those who miss Cinema's gorgeous blast of amaryllis I have no shame in recommending Perfume Parlours dupe Panoramic which is much closer to the original than the current changeling abomination.

I purchased this perfume on special, and I believe this version is being discontinued. I am very happy with it, as it reminds me of a blend of the discontinued Soft Armani Sensi and Orange Mania fragrances. It's a delightful and uplifting mix of vanilla, sweet orange, and floral notes. I used four sprays on my skin, and it projected nicely. On my skin, the fragrance lasted for about seven hours, while on my clothes, it lingered for over twelve hours. This perfume is not overpowering; instead, it's truly lovely. I highly recommend this feminine fragrance, which embodies a warm, romantically vanilla floral scent. It represents class and happiness, and it gives me the same vibes as Sensi and Orange Mania.

A hidden gem from YSL. Unique and very classy. For floral lovers, it’s one of the most wearable takes on vanilla. Whenever I spray this, I feel incredibly feminine.

(Revisiting my old bottles) Cinema is like the bottle itself, a gold fragrance. It makes me think of a woman whose false lashes even have glitter on the tips, with a austere, baby-doll face, dressed in an unbelievably sparkly outfit, covered in gold jewelry, and copper-toned hair. She’s only at that party to be seen, wearing a practiced fake smile, the kind who is already bored of the whole thing :) The dominant notes are citrus-vanilla and what I’d call "general-floral" a set of refined floral facets and a touch of almond. This isn’t the kind of scent I would label as wow or super unique. I keep it because it’s a discontinued piece and I love the bottle. A night-out scent of its era, a crowd-pleaser. Stroke of genius! , this one. I sprayed some of it on, & then forgot about it ... & later kept asking myself ¿¡ what's that gorgeous aroma !? ... & then, checking-back what it was I'd put on myself, found it was this. It's actually not all that old - 2004, according to the information heading this section ... but it somehow conveys the impression - to me anyhow - of being one of those great vintage fragrances that's been around since, like, early last century ... like, eg Youth Dew or, even moreso, Mitsuoko. I won't be spraying anymore of this on myself just for private assay: it's now one of those that's strictly saved for going out.

I blind brought this and really tried to love it but ended up selling it. A synthetic mess. Had no depth, just smelt like someone’s grandmas old synthetic perfume.

This is a perfumey perfume that opens up with a citrusy and vanillic opening. Then as it dries it becomes a floral amber. Very classy scent! I was hoping that it was in the same DNA profile as Sensi. Sensi is warm, comforting and much softer. I am happy to have Cinema and will use it happily. For those that are hoping for a Sensi dupe, this is not it.

I've been given a tiny amount of it by someone who got bored of it. It was around Christmas 2006 and I so much appreciated it, it became one of my first serious fragrances. I wore it for parties and it was my ritual before going out: chat with my friend, make up and a bit of Cinema. It made me feel so glamorous. As someone mentioned here - it was luminous. I'd compare it to J'adore (in terms of luminosity). It smelled like a warm tea with lemon and honey and some flowers and it worked well for the cold winter. For sure it's been uplifting for the soul. The bottle looked so vintage, like it belonged to a Hollywood cinema star from 50s. I miss it.

Che buono questo profumo! Cel'ho del 2007, una magica atmosfera notturna di gran soirè, feste,balli, serate eleganti tipiche degli anni 70,80 e 90, freddo e buio fuori e caldo e pieno di pailettes dentro. Frizzante inizialmente, inebriante, pian piano sempre più caldo e dorato, mette di buon umore e riporta alla mente le serate del passato (per chi le ha vissute), ricordi e magia. Le sue note sono vivaci e brillanti,agrumi iniziali, e un cuore misterioso. Non sto a scrivere il nome dei fiori che ci sono perchè non sono distinguibili. Tutto avvolto da una scia di balsami voluttuosi e dolci di benzoino e odori setosi.

Honestly as someone who loves perfumes, this disappointed me a lot, it’s not horrible but it also isn’t the best out there, I like sweet gourmand/vanilla perfumes, this smelt like a grandma too me I had to declutter this to my mum, but my mum really enjoyed this scent.

It is a subtle scent. Radiant and golden. Feminine. Not particularly fit for winter as it is delicate but a pleasure anyway. I perceive its floral-clementine-amber aura with nuances of cyclamen, a drop of jasmin. Luminous. The name suggests it is fit for cinema so it will go there together with me. Surely won't offend anyone. It opens gorgeously but soon clings close to my skin. The bottle is fantastic too. This and Manifesto should return. Both too cute to be lost. But maybe the lack of stronger presence was the decisive factor? It is an aura rather than a sillage. It reminds me of Gucci Premiere - both light and luminous.

i love this scent its so so so nostalgic for me i feel like crying whenever i smell it (in a good way) but not just that it smells so luxurious and sexy i have my bottle since 2006 it even smells deeper now but i NEED a backup bottle so i can actually wear this perfume on a daily basis bcuz its so good but i cant find it anywhere maybe in saudi when i go there btw i didnt try the 2024 version but i will and i HOPE it would smell the same as the old one so i can use it and keep my old bottle

My signature scent, can't find it anywhere anymore.. it's luxurious, feminin and bold, I love it.

I wore this in 2004, after the birth of my daughter. This was my signature scent and so nostalgic. Reminded me so much of her. Cinema then disappeared. When it came back, it was different. Sillage used to be powerful and was quite potent. Disappeared again and now it's back but worlds apart from the original. Sad.

how dare they 'discontinue' it!!??

The new version is nothing like the original, forget it. It broke my heart when this perfume got discontinued and reformulated. My father gifted this to me for Christmas many years ago and it became my signature scent. I haven’t found THE signature scent for me ever since. It‘s classy, elegant, like walking the red carpet in a simple luxurious silky gold dress everybody loves. Not too much, not too basic, perfect ying and yang. Compliments all day everyday with this one. I still can’t believe this is gone!

Note-I have a vintage mini formulation- from what I understand the 2024 version is quite different. This scent is so interesting, because for the first five minutes, I absolutely hate it. It almost smells like plastic on my skin. However, it then unfolds into a lovely spicy/ powdery nicety. There is something quite mature and elegant about it- adjectives that I would not use to describe myself, so I am not sure how well it suits me. This dries down into a nice vanilla powder on my skin. I feel like I could age into this perfume, so I'll keep it in my collection.

I purchased it in 2005 not too long after its launch. I smelled it on one of those testing strip in a magazine and fell in love. However on my skin once I truly tried it, the top and middle notes were a bit too heady for my taste (Think very rich, exuberant, red carpet vixen) I wore it a handful of times for fancier evening events and forgot it in the back of my cabinet. Came back to it today (20 years later 😅) again, with my skin chemistry it seems the top and middle notes are screechy. But after about 30 minutes… WOW… it becomes this beautiful close to the skin vanilla amber, unlike anything else I own. And well, I am a vanilla amber fan… just not of the overly sweet artificial candy like vanillas. My daughter smelled my wrist and said MOM, what is this? It’s amazing, like signature fragrance amazing, and I agree with her. To think I almost got rid of the bottle! So glad I didn’t!

This is a lovely floral vanilla amber. The way vanillas used to be before they became childish deserts or "solar" fake concoctions. Almond blossom is strong here blending beautifully with the Clementine. The florals are a very soft clean jasmine and peony. The base is a very beautiful sweet amber. Not sickening sweet, not food sweet. This is a sophisticated vanilla much like vintage Chopard was in the 90s but now it has been ruined and cheapened. There is a slight woody spiciness in the dry down as well. A very elegant vanilla, amber with a soft jasmine and peony bouquet humming in the background. If you want an sophisticated grownup vanilla buy a FB of Cinema while you still can.

I smelled this first in the summer heat, and thought it pointless because I could barely smell anything. Then autumn approached, the temperature dropped, and it became the most exquisite amber-vanilla concoction, mingled with a light sophisticated blend of clementine. This is a masterpiece! And the original bottle is much prettier than the new. When all the major perfume brands are increasing their prices I am going back to smell the classic perfumes of the past; it’s pretty much a guarantee that they are masterpieces for they have lasted this long, plus they are the truly niche because they’re not worn by the consumerist mass.

It is not opulent like leather and white florals, or rich and jammy Rose, it is in fact very underwhelming upon first sniff….. possibly even the whole journey of the scent is. it opens with a rather plain clementine floral head, handsome, but plain. but in the summer after mere moments... the warmness of my skin amalgamates with the luminous amber juice and the juice meets me with almost the same ardency, it becomes very rich and warm, still not complex but that is whats oddly fetching about it! Starting to think I have a bad batch reading all these reviews and checking these stats. Sillage on me is intimate and longevity is poor - I sprayed a few spritzes a couple of hours ago and I've already had to reapply. It's surprising to me because my other YSL perfumes perform really well. I'm disappointed it's not stronger all around because it's an absolutely beautiful scent that I'd buy in a heartbeat if it just performed better. Unfortunately, I can't justify almost £90 for a bottle if I have to douse myself again every few hours.

Cinema,,,, well-well-well, l wouldn't have resist that feeling back than: Everybody is looking at me! (l'm too good to be true!) In my opinion, this perfume is the last of the true vintage perfumes, well, it def feels so, more than 20 y after it's birth in 2004, and me staying there in the perfumeria with eyes bigger than dinner-plates, l think l could have been given this stuff straight into my vaines, I couldn afford to buy it than, this super-duper-delisjious vanilla-scent, vanilla with some more goddies, it's slightly soapy and powdery, smelling sooo very goood, and you can just take me back there, to the movies, and give me that beautiful dress too, thanks! And, to the privat seller; thank you so very much for this great perfume, a full 1,15fl.oz/35ml bottle, and, the bodycream, and the beautiful box!

Perfect clean vanilla with a hint of warmth from the amber. Does become a skin scent after about 4 hours, but lasts forever on clothes! Perfect for those that appreciate vanilla, without it being the star of the show 😊

Did they sent me a sample of wrong perfume or is my nose/skin that different?! This can't be the scent many people describe "faint", "clean", "fresh", "subtle" and "spring/summer daytime scent." I get a mature, (some would say, dated) dense, sweet and spicy amber vanilla that feels more appropriate for cool weather and/or evenings. Not exactly unpleasant but it tickles my nose and this kind of scent wasn't what I was looking for or wished this one to be.
