Absolutely stunning!! At first I did pick up a bit of camphor, and was hoping it didn’t stick around. It didn’t! It settled into the most gorgeous, warm, cozy, sexy fragrance! I agree, it’s not that similar to midnight poison, which I find more vanillic. It is, however, similar to deep Euphoria, which I also swoon over in the cooler months! You get those rich florals but the woody notes and patchouli are really what make this fragrance so beautiful!! It’s done incredibly well! I can see that this may not be everyone’s tastes and some may not be able to pull it off. But this is my kind of fragrance! It is giving a strong woman vibe, no wall flowers here! This is a woman who is confident and comfortable in all situations. One who isn’t afraid to show her sexy side and has no problem being a woman in a man’s world. That said, it does lean a bit unisex. I adore a fragrance that has a touch of masculinity! It gives a little ying in my yang! I only have a smidge left and really wish this would come back ! It’s an absolute stunner!

Elle is a total powerhouse compared to Midnight Poison, the sillage is enormous. MP is her quieter, more introverted and whimsical sister. While they have some similarities, Elle is much more bold than the romantic fairy that is Midnight Poison. All in all, YSL should just cut the crap with these idiotic libre flankers and bring back this beauty in it’s original glory.

God I love this. Sucks that it’s discontinued and tough to find. Ysl bring this classic back. Gorgeous scent. Deep spicy feminine strong bright refreshing yet cosy. It’s just really unique. I have nothing else like it.

More fruity version of midnight poison. Eaiser to wear for younger users in terms of patchouli. Still sexy, still feminine, still attractive.

This lands fiercely with a fanfare of exotic dominant sophisticated class with a slutty side of sweet fruity almost sweaty . The dry down settles to knowing rose and nods at vanilla . Pleasing but not for dinner .

Id rather keep this one around for a few more years so I've been using my midnight poison instead, MP is too tame (vanillar) and Elle has more longevity and sillage, smells more "blonde woods" to me with a slight edge (probably the fruits on the loud mix!)

Opening is a blast of lemon and pepper. The rose and patchouli shine in the dry down. A sharp, spicy, lemon zest covered rose. It's loud and sexual, certainly not suited for the faint of heart. It's a scent I would find lovely on the woman that it suits, but it's one of those fragrances that feels like it's wearing me instead of the other way around.

Just checked my batch code, it was produced in 2023! I'm so happy I was able to buy it again after more than fifteen years! Forgot how gooood it was!

This is my favourite warm weather scent! I don't reach for it now that it's winter. Its also VERY strong, so spray sparingly. Its a peppery peony and patchouli scent. Very sexy. This is my most complimented perfume. I love and am sad its discontinued

Maybe Elle has been a "love" for me since the first day I entered Fragrantica. But I actually smelled it in a shop once, only 18 years ago, and I remember it as a very feminine scent, slightly sweet and powdery. I wonder if I've drifted away from Elle's subject matter over time, just as platonic love drifts further and further away from the truth, or if my perception of scent has changed. After 18 years, I picked up a small decant of Elle and it bears not the slightest resemblance to the scent I remember. I came across a patchouli-based, fruity-floral fragrance. It’s fresh but definitely with character and suitable for all four seasons. When I looked at the notes, I thought I might tried the intense version of the Elle before. Honestly, the first time I sprayed this one, it disappointed me. Then this morning I woke up and wanted to wear it. I think it's very suitable to be a signature fragrance, especially for people over 30. You can't smell it on too many people and it fits every occasion.

Truly such a stunning, gorgeous and sexy fragrance. To me, this smells very much like Midnight Poison, but a little bit more fruity, airy and feminine, while still maintaining a dark and mystical aura about itself. Midnight Poison is more gothic and citrusy (at least to me) but they both still share that intoxicatingly addictive DNA. Elle has quickly become a favourite and I adore this so much, it's perfect for when I want to save my MP and use this instead, however it doesn't last 𝘢𝘴 long. The bottle is beautiful and unique too 💕

I have seen this scent on sale advertised and since I haven’t tried it even though it’s released since 2000’s I’ve said to give it a try. The scent is really pretty, as the bottle is, a spicy, pink pepper heavy, patchouli with various floral sprinkled throughout the top and heart notes. It caught my attention as soon as I’ve sprayed it but it’s so weak, it’s sad. I am a patchouli lover and I genuinely think that patchouli makes fragrances last longer in general. Elle by YSL is the clear exception because at least on skin, after 3 hours it’s entirely gone. Therefore, even though I really liked the scent, and it’s on sale in my local store, I don’t find worth purchasing it because it performs very poorly, at least in skin. Beautiful, vibrant pink/fuchsia bottle though. I think the colour of the packaging matches the scent, it’s a really seductive, alluring one.

god, i had thought i wouldn’t remember what midnight poison smelled like. i just remembered loving it so much as a child when i would play around with my moms perfumes, but oh boy do i remember now. the moment i smelled ysl elle i was hit with a wave of nostalgia. it doesn’t smell *exactly* like mp mind you, but it helped me remember what i was missing. it’s not a dupe by any means and for picky people who want an exact dupe of mp this isn’t it. but if you aren’t picky and you simply miss mp this is a great alternative. it’s honestly close enough, close enough that it took me right back, and close enough that i could remember exactly what mp was. it also stands well on its own as a cool, confident scent. gorgeous.

this was the perfume that started my love for fragrance, my mom bought it at the airport before we went on holiday when i was a kid and wore it every night to go out to dinner and whenever i smell it, it completely takes me back. its such a nostalgic, gorgous, rich, sexy and seductive scent, its one of my all time favorites. this is one of the only perfumes i dont care that i dont like the look of the bottle because the scent is just so good. im not sure if the scent is for everyone but to me its incredible i love ysl elle so much ♡♡

I really like it and see why Elle is so popular. It’s a fresh peppery rose with patchouli and musk. I have Madness, but unfortunately it’s close, but not as sweet. Too bad because Madness is much cheaper and easier to find. I’m thinking layering Madness with a sweet, fresh rose like Angel Nova edt might produce a similar effect as Elle. Worth a try. Edit: I have tried a lot of rose perfumes over the years and especially over the last year. This one is my favorite. There is a slight powderiness, but more so I get a lip stick/makeup vibe. I do find JHAG Lady Vengeance and Nirvana Rose kind of similar to Elle, but comparing Elle to Lady side by side, Elle is less sharp, less vintage, and better blended. Lady has a dusty rose while E’s is more fresh and pretty. As soon as I finish one of my rose perfumes, I more than likely will buy a full bottle. In my opinion, it is worth the price and hype.

Nostalgic I wore this in university/college back in 2008 and it was really mature for my age back then but still very sexy. Lot of compliments but the patchouli has a tendency to smell harsh and mothball-like if you wear it in hotter weather. Definitely a colder scent. Has pure poison/Dior DNA. Makes me cry now if I smell it because it holds so many memories...

Today I met one lady who was wearing that perfume and I stopped her to ask what was it, and I was quite surprised to learn that is Elle, in 28 C sweaty Mediterranean weather this smells really fresh white (surprisingly) flowery or peony (I consider after reading pyramid) really classy and sophisticated (for vacation) scent. Want to try now on myself. Reminded me Omnia by Bulgary idk, smells really good

I love Elle, it's not too sweet but not too crisp either. I just really enjoy wearing Elle. Not sure about other countries, but it certainly hasn't been discontinued in the UK. Whilst it doesn't appear on YSL's website, it is freely available in all the usual retailers, I checked this week after seeing all these reviews saying its been discontinued.

No way in hell.did this smell like midnight Poison, whoever started that should stand corrected. I wouldn't wear this at all. This is a cheap bomb

It opens quite lemony/freesia, not unpleasant but it reminds me of a cleaning product. I can't smell the patchouly at all. Very weak on me with little longevity. Not for me.

I bought this because I wanted to compare it to Midnight Poison, which I own and have worn since it was released and it is still my holy grail perfume and signature scent. Sorry to disappoint anyone who is hoping for a dupe, but it's really not. It just doesn't compare. It could perhaps be a distant cousin to Midnight Poison for the patchouli, citrus, and rose, but the dry down is powdery and it isn't even close to the patchouli bomb that Midnight Poison is. It lacks the intensity, the enormous sillage, the sexy gothic mystique. Now, taking it for what it is without the comparison. I do really like this perfume because it ticks a lot of boxes for me: juicy lychee and zesty citrus, soft rosy florals, a good dose of patchouli, and the dry down is woody and powdery. It has moderate longevity and good sillage for the first couple of hours. I think it can work for both day and night but is more of an evening fragrance, not one for the office. It is sexy but less intimidating than Midnight Poison, more alluring than demanding attention.

I am a die hard fan of Midnight Poison, but sometimes I want a substitute to wear to save my precious MP juice. I’ve heard this compared to MP a lot (the same perfumer), so I blind bought a bottle and gave it a go. I can definitely see the similarities in them. They both have a patchouli, citrus, and rose element, but I find this to be more of a daytime fragrance. Think of it as a brighter, fruitier, and slightly more woody sister to MP. Love wearing this during the day, and then switching to MP at night. Though it is discontinued, it is easy to find and the prices aren’t as inflated as MP has become. Will never replace my MP, but it is a nice alternative. Definitely not a dupe.

I think there’s something wrong with my bottle. I can’t imagine it being a fake as there’s not a market for that. This smells like literally just pepper and coriander. Possibly a very dry patchouli and earthy dry Vetiver. Where’s the litchi? Where’s the peony? I get ZERO floral or fruit notes and this smells like an aromatic spice. THAT IS IT. It’s god awful. I RARELY wash things off as I have a pretty open diverse palette and I even like weird and wonderful scents but this-this…biggest disappointment ever for me. I’m like Demi Rawling..are we smelling the same thing? She’s the one YT whom I have the closest taste with so I usually trust her recommendations and this was the biggest blind fail for me. Between this and the awful violet scents I’ve recently purchased I’m getting the hint that blind buying is out for me. It’s just so much damn money to have all these 2mL testers scent. I’ve probably spent $800 on testers and it’s really annoying to have to wait for them too. I’ve been waiting quite a while from Exquis and jomashop for my testers. Pro Tip: pay the extra $5 for expedited shipping from Jomashop bc they must use pony express to deliver packages. It’s been 2 weeks since I ordered my bottles from them. The vendors who are fast are DecantX and Max Aroma. I just can’t believe Jacques Cavallier and Olivier Cresp made this. Like it took two masters to make this disaster? One of my favouriteeeee winter perfumes , I need to stock up before they ever decide to discontinue With all the hyped up , expensive perfumes I have , this has a special place in my heart , I just love love love her She reminds me of all my favourite years , the beginning of my it girl era My friends all used to say this perfume was just my scent all knew I’ve been around when they could smell it

After searching for Elle for quite some time, I finally found her and am totally in love with it! I keep hearing how it's similar to Midnight Poison from Dior, but I don't know how true that is. Still never had an opportunity to try it out. To be honest, Elle gives me a nostalgic feel, but I can't pinpoint what it is. Definitely not like today's mainstream perfumes. Perhaps that's a good thing, because I love old school scents! I'm not sure why, but it's giving me "Lacoste Vibes", for some unbeknownst reason. It's fresh, floral, woody, slightly spicy and overall a light fragrance - all at once! Not that I'm complaining. 🙂 In general, I opt for sweet fragrances, which tend to have a vanillic note in it; with Elle, though? She's an exception. This is one of the fewest fragrances that I can wear at any time of the year, without hesitation. It saddens me as to how YSL decided to discontinue such a gem. It seems like a crime to me! LADIES!!! If you'll have an opportunity to get a whiff of this before it disappears forever, take it! I'd happily repurchase it, without a doubt! 11/10

My favorite perfum ever, I have had a lot ot perfume in my life, and this one is hands down my fave for years now 😍 can't even explain how it smells, it's just perfect, fresh, sexy and addicting. For me is perfect for summer evenings/special occasions. I just wish it would project and last longer.

Amazing defiant beauty that stands out. Even though she is fragile, her determent strong personality is all over the room. I absolutely adore it.. Found it on an airport in London. Lucky me

It smells like Vicks. Fresh room incense with menthol. IMO, definitely not for wearing but it can be a good room incense or a scent that you can use with your aroma diffuser. I do not hate it but never going to consider purchasing.

Freshness and citrusy sweetness that balances nicely out the woody and ambery patchouli. I have not smelt anything like it since. I smell the rose and watery peony well. It smells good, but not so natural. Smells like a perfume store to me. It is bright and energetic. Not for my taste.
