I've now worn the new formulation for a few days. Just SO happy. It performs significantly better than every other formulation I've ever had. It projects quite a lot. I now have an earlier formulation (not sure exactly, but early 2010's) on my left hand and the latest on my right. The main difference scent wise for me, is that what used to be a segmented rough patchouli under an icy sugar, honey, berry on top is NOW rounded out and almost filled in like a balloon with a creamy vanillic cotton candy. I'm in love. still.

I have a newer bottle of this. I wore it the other day for the first time in a while, and when my husband got home, he asked "what's that smell" and said the whole apartment smelled like bug spray but in a good way.

Анонім★★★★★

I really wanted to like this but to me it comes off as if you sprayed a mix of men's cologne with a dash of vanilla on dirty skin. Love Mugler though.

JUST got the new formulation. SOOOO beautiful and elegant. It's still very sparkling, but more creamy and less of that minty harsh juicy berry. Very delicious patchouli and cotton candy so far. Can't wait to see how she performs.

safe bi koku. erkeği baymaz. kadına yetmez. ama genel olarak L'Oréal almasanız da olur.

Анонім★★★★★

this fragrance is not for me but i'm telling you i sprayed this at a store and i could smell it for AGES, i swear i could still smell the dry down (which smelled way better for me) after days... unless i just began hallucinating the scent because of how strong it was

Smells like your grandma’s vanity drawer. Old makeup, very sweet. Not as bad as the internet claims, but it’s bad.

Анонім★★★★★

smells like it could kill you. smells like petrol/gasoline. horrific. a monstrosity.

When I was a kid this was my mom's favorite perfume and when we went to visit my dad in #prison, all the fellow female visitors were wearing Mugler Angel. Angel is a favorite amongst nonviolent offenders. I can't give an unbiased review of this because it does smell like a prison visitation room.

Angel has returned. I purchased a 2026 version from France as it is not yet available here in Australia. Yes, it has been reformulated. The 2020 version was strange.. some days it would smell reminiscent of Angel rather flat but still Angel, and on other days the patchouli would give off a muddy body odor smell that I couldn't shake off. The 2020 version also came across as much more masculine, It was a gamble as I never knew what my nose would register it as on the day. The 2026 L'Oreal version is the closest thing to the CFG version since it was reformulated. I can once again detect berries, honey, and that gorgeous chocolatey patchouli from the very first moment. Sweet cotton candy and earthy but thankfully none of that rancid body odor patchouli that was present in the 2020 version.

i don’t know what’s wrong with my nose but all i get is dirty weird patchouli. no sweetness, no fruit, no chocolate, no caramel. just patchouli.

Testing an Étoile Collection Parfum miniature, roughly dated to 1994-1995: I can see exactly why this landed like a military grade glitter bomb when it came out. I don't think I've ever smelled anything that so aggressively and uncompromisingly embodies 1990s futurism before. If the Sega Dreamcast was a fragrance, it would be Angel. The upholstery of the VengaBus is completely saturated with Angel. The gift shop on the Fhloston Paradise absolutely stocked Angel. Hear me out. There was something about the way the 90s looked at the future post-Cold War. It was fun, playful, fantastical. Translucent plastics, virtual pets, bright colors and rounded shapes. Directly in opposition to the grunge 90s. Mugler, Chiris, and Cresp somehow read this shift in the air before almost anyone else did. Angel opens with a bang - melted artificially flavored gummy bears over dry patchouli, with something almost plastic in the mix. What it feels like is brightly colored see through inflatable furniture, brightly colored frost finish nail polish (Hard Candy or Pure Ice, dealer's choice), the neon orange of Leeloo's (The Fifth Element) or red of Lola's (Run Lola Run) hair. It is youth offering you one of an unlimited number of possibilities. Angel knows it is fantasy, knows it is artifice, and wants you to just enter its world for a while. It holds onto that spun sugar until the drydown, where rich powdered cocoa and a bit of smoke also make an appearance. I don't get gourmand or chocolate cake at all personally. This is enticing but not remotely edible. Unless you were one of the kids who really wanted to eat the scented erasers you could buy at the book fair. Then I totally get it. I am incredibly glad I got to try this and remember how it felt to be a preteen in the late 90s. The only place I could imagine wearing this to in 2026 is a rave. Maybe I will.

my mom just started wearing this and she says "can you smell it? I can't smell it on me" and I said oh yes I can smell it. I get the appeal, there's a sweet and bubbly cloud around her. Angel is what I imagine the Candy Kingdom smells like - cartoon fruits and sweet treats smiling and bouncing around together.

One of my all time favorites. i call this one the "dr pepper of perfumes". dr pepper has 23 ingredients including black licorice, amaretto, almond, vanilla, blackberry, caramel, tomato and molasses. all things that shouldn't work, but do anyway. that is how i feel about the notes in this perfume. Angel is an iconic, chaotic masterpiece. On paper, mixing sharp, medicinal patchouli and bitter bergamot with cotton candy, honey, chocolate, and dark berries sounds like it would be terrible. Angel unapologetically breaks every rule of fragrance composition. It should be a disaster. Instead, it creates a legendary, genre-defining fragrance profile that nothing else can replicate.

got a bad batch (2021) and its really really bad. literally baaaddd BO! bad underarm odor 🤢🤮

I'm changing my mind .... I have had the old formulation years ago, and it was just a hard pass for me. Now I have a newer bottle, the one standing. It is from 3 years ago ..... And I quite like this now ... Not a love, but definitely a like. More toned down, more cotton candy. Still the earthy patchouli in the dry down I struggle a bit with, but way less than the older formula.

First impressions – Mugler Angel (2026 version) The new Angel does remind me of the original formula, just as many people online have been saying. However, for me it no longer has that unique, mouth-watering fruity nectar accord that used to jump into my nose and make the fragrance instantly addictive. The current version feels much quieter. It captures the spirit of the original Angel, but only as a shadow of what I remember. I keep smelling it, searching for that rich, juicy nectar… but it never quite arrives. Instead, it moves rather quickly into the more animalic, earthy patchouli phase. That aspect always existed, but it worked much better when it was supported by the vibrant, sweet fruity opening. Without that contrast, the composition feels less alive and less complete. These are only my first impressions. Interestingly, on paper the sweet fruity accord seems a little more noticeable than it does on my skin, so I’ll continue testing before reaching a final conclusion. More updates to come.

I’m obsessed with angel and it made me broke, it’s funny how my first reaction was this smells a bit masculine to I can’t live without this scent, I’m collecting bottles now so after getting my hands on a vintage early 2000s rising star bottle i feel like this deserves another review as it’s been stripped away all of its character with every reformulation they have done to her throughout the years, it’s INSANE how i can smell VANILLA and goeey CHOCOLATE now and that cotton candy note is so heavenly done??? I usually hate cotton candy in perfume as it smells very disgusting but this here is not like any other perfume and it does smell edible!!!!!!!! all this time i was thinking angel is a nice perfume but i wouldn’t call it a gourmand? it literally made my mouth water

This might be my favorite fragrance ever and I can understand why people hate it. For the past 6 years I have had a vintage empty open bottle sitting in my hair jewelry drawer And every time I open the drawer the scent is intoxicating. It is subtle but there and I always smell it. It's amazing. Another scent that is doing the same thing in another drawer and I don't even have a bottle of this. This is an empty sample. It's just almost hard to believe so bizarre but Narcotica.

I sprayed this today for the first time since the depths of winter, and I was reminded just how much I love this scent and how true to my personality it feels. I have what I assume to be one of the last L'Oréal batches before the recent (AMAZING) reformulation. This smells like if patchouli plants grew juicy red berries which got cooked into a gooey chocolate and caramel brownie. It also has a woody, skin musk accord to it, which I became so nose blind to after wearing it every day - but smelling Angel again today reminded me of how glad I am that this is what people smell on me most of the time :]

Анонім★★★★★

I need to get my hands on this restored formulation ASAP!!

Анонім★★★★★

I hate that I like this. It’s such a unique sweet fragrance. I love the mix of caramel and patchouli but I seriously wish it wasn’t this strong. I am not joking when i say this, I had to use an emergency inhaler after trying this. This would be so amazing if it wasn’t so strong it felt like someone was using forceps to force my nostrils into the most distressing sensation ever.

I absolutely love the way Angel smells on me. Every note dances together so well on my skin. And ooooo that dry down and the base notes that last til I shower 24 hours later are sooo scrumptious! The longevity is eternal for me when my skin usually eats fragrances! Im going to have to buy the newest formulation and try that. I have a bottle made in 2017 and I love it.

Анонім★★★★★

Is it true the new bottles smell like the Clarins formulation?? I truly hope so, I was afraid Angel was lost and I had started hoarding my bottles

I have a bottle from 2005. When l bought it from a collector 2 years ago it was sealed and never opened for 19 years. I opened it of course bc l want to enjoy it and not just look at it. The batch code is on the short leg of the star. The juice turned a little green. Of course it's not the iconic 90s first formulation but it must be a second one so it still resembles what real Angel really was and not this watered down mess done by Loreal. It does open with ethyl maltol but the patchouli is deep, dark and slightly metallic. Once l was wearing it and was wondering why l keep smelling weed in the air. Its a stunning masterpiece through and through. I wish one day to find 90s bottle just to experience it. Dossier Gourmand Patchouli smells million times better than 2020 Loreal Angel. Rumour has it Loreal bought the brand but not the formulas so everything smelled awful after 2020. Here is my reformulation research 1992-1997 original formula 1997/8-2005 first reformulation 2006-2009 second reformulation 2011-2015 third reformulation under Clarins 2016-2019 fourth reformulation 2020 Loreal mess 2025/6 new Loreal formulation that smells like OG(under Clarins tho). the box has solid blue star logo on it.look for batch code with a Z followed by N or D is from Nov/Dec 2025, with A is from 2026. Dont smell testers. They are probably still 2020 trash formula

Favorite smell of all time! I have heard that the newest bottles are holding a new formulation. I can't wait to try as they are supposedly highlighting the cotton candle middle as before. I would love to know what anyone thinks of the new bottles if they have smelled them. In general Angel is just the smell of life for me. Earth, Sky, Soul, Sugar.

I've come to realize I might just hate patchouli. Be warned, I've come to realize I kind of just hate the DNA of Mugler's most iconic perfumes, so this is basically just me crashing out. It's an okay perfume, I just hate it. I know, my tastes are super boring. This is my completely honest opinion from someone who is needlessly opinionated, lol - take it with a grain of salt, if you like this then you're fine! I actually disagree with people who say this perfume is for eccentrics and interesting people - it's a statement piece, for people who don't have anything more interesting about themselves. Like "oh, are you wearing the iconic Mugler Angel?" since it's distinctive and beautifully formulated but differs extremely from what would be popular taste. The vanilla is suffocated. The chocolate is... there. Gourmands and patchouli. Reminds me of biting into a York patty - but mint instead of peppermint. The cooling effect is deeply interesting. Still not a fan. Ugh... truly out of this world, extraordinary, but kind of a freak (look at those notes?) so I don't really know how to feel about this one beyond my gut reaction. (And I've kept my sample of her around to see if I'd warm up to her? My opinion has been consistent from Day 1.) Memorable. Standout. It's what Mugler does best, I guess. I will not beef with the people who love this scent. I just personally can simultaneously respect the artistry and regret having it in my space outside of the artistic curiosity it piques. I guess there's worse, and someone else will love this angel. (I also didn't like the rhubarb note in Delina despite being "fine" otherwise. I also don't like Dior Blooming Bouquet, but only because it's so clean? So I've accepted I have a taste in perfumes and it's a little boring.)

Анонім★★★★★

I am not an enjoyer of this perfume, however, it is so memorable and so important to the industry in general, I cannot dislike it. Angel is for someone so creative and artistic, someone who thinks out of the box, eccentric with a vision for themselves. This perfume for me smells like so many things, and it has so much personality I must appreciate it.

Анонім★★★★★

For me, smelling a perfume is like experiencing an installation art piece. it offers you the excitement of understanding what lies between the lines and the images it evokes. I only tested it on paper and fabric, as I was afraid to put it on my skin. In the beginning, it smelled purely of dirty soil, a very unpleasant scent, but with a tiny hint of dark chocolate. As time passed, the soil scent began to clear up, revealing damp / liquid notes of plant roots and dry leaves, crushed like herbs. It brought to mind an aromatic plant, as if belonging to the thyme family, but with a bitterness ,As time goes by, the bitterness fades away, and only a herb remains. The whole vibe felt like a witch brewing a potion, crushing the ingredients inside a bowl. A scent of an aromatic liquid herb , feeling a bit as if it had just been dug out of the earth. If you put me in a laboratory and didn't tell me this was the famous Angel, my mind would instantly go to some wild mountain herb. None of the chocolate and caramel etc. Just that. Where are all those ingredients anyway? Just that, while trying to discover how patchouli smells. excited about the discovery edit: if you wait until the very end when all the bad smells had gone away, that smell of herb is actually nice/interesting. what is more classic than a herb anyway

Анонім★★★★★

Just the most "perfume" smelling perfume in the world to me. Didn't produce any particular feelings within me. Definetly muddy in the scent profile, so much of everything that nothing particularly stood out... Nowhere NEAR as offensive to me as some people found it though!
