Yes, Royal Mayfair... The first word that comes to my mind is elegance. If you are looking for a remarkably fresh fragrance with a subtle minty quality, especially something to wear during summer temperatures above 25°C, Royal Mayfair is absolutely worth experiencing. In fact, I find that its performance and character become much more noticeable as the temperature rises. It seems to come alive in the heat, projecting its freshness beautifully without becoming overwhelming. The opening is particularly impressive. Pine and gin are immediately noticeable and create a wonderfully crisp, green and refreshing introduction. There is also a subtle menthol-like freshness that gives the fragrance an almost cooling sensation. The rose in the heart is there, but it remains very much in the background. It doesn't turn the fragrance into a typical rosy scent; instead, it quietly adds elegance and softness beneath the fresher green notes. Overall, Royal Mayfair feels clean, aristocratic, elegant and exceptionally refreshing. A fragrance that I would especially recommend for warm summer days when you want to smell refined without feeling heavy.

the first notes that come forward are Gin, Eucalyptus, Pine & Lime. now that is something special only Creed succeeds to give me. the actual smell of Citric Fruits in perfume. I can always smell the Bergamot, Lemon or here, the Lime whereas I never smell a Hesperidic opening in whichever perfume. I think it is quite a feauture. the Eucalyptus has a mentholated smell which kind of sinks in with the Gin note. that Gin note is also special because I am from Schiedam, the Netherlands, which was the Jenever-Capitol of the world for centuries. Jenever = the Dutch word for Genièvre and I think 'Gin' is a derivative material from that. so I can surely smell Gin, while I also always smell Juniper-Berries. so this perfume has a Masculin leaning (in my experience), and smells Boozy but at the same time super Sophisticated. like a cocktail at a rooftop bar or Country Club, something we know Olivier Creed was not unpartial to. as I have here a bottle of perfume from 2015, which belongs to my straight twinbrother, it was kind of couterintuitive to put some on. but I knew this perfume from thèn. strangely however THE for me most alluring note: Rose, stays in the shadows and it is the Base which comes forward. Orange & Cedar lend the perfume still more fizziness. but it is weird that the Note which ALWAYS comes to me, whichever Rose, whereever, however, and which always (to my blessing) comes interfering, until now seems more of a swiped out note. I find the previous review very clear and good except that I think it is perhaps a review of the newer 'Royal Mayfair' (2024). because there is talk about a Tuberose-note. (I saw the new Royal Mayfair 2024 contains Rose, Tuberose, Jasmine.) to my experience the perfume now stays an elegant and refined rendition of a drink in a swanky bar, or super chic bar, or a kinky bar. much later, into the night, I smelled a beautiful and very fondly edited Rose, radiantly present in all her Millefeuilles. if somewhat removed still, it defined this perfume nevertheless.

Edit: A reviewer pointed out that my description may align more closely with the 2024 version of Royal Mayfair than the original 2015 release. Looking into it further, I noticed that the newer version officially includes tuberose and jasmine, which could explain the creamy white-floral character I described. The sample reviewed here was a 5 mL decant purchased from ScentSplit.com in August 2025 and was (and still is) listed as the 2015 version, but I cannot independently verify which formulation was actually used for the decant. I'm leaving the original review unchanged because it accurately reflects what I smelled, but readers should be aware that there may be some uncertainty regarding the version tested. Looking at another offering from Creed today, we come to Royal Mayfair, a fragrance inspired by the unique charm of Mayfair, one of London's most prestigious neighborhoods and home to The House of Creed's flagship boutique. With that in mind, let's see just how special this fragrance is considering it represents Creed's flagship location. The opening of Royal Mayfair is a mix of soft, earthy, slightly medicinal eucalyptus paired with mandarin and bergamot. The citrus adds a pleasant brightness while helping balance the more unusual eucalyptus note, giving the fragrance an opening that immediately feels different from most of Creed's offerings. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the floral heart starts to come through. I get a creamy, rich, almost honeyed quality from the tuberose, while the rose feels a little less prominent and contributes more to the fragrance's green, dewy floral character. At this point, Royal Mayfair develops a fresh grassy quality that really seems to define the scent as a whole. After about an hour, some dry woodiness begins to emerge from the cedarwood and vetiver along with a touch of musk. Even then, the fragrance remains focused on those dewy florals and the slightly medicinal eucalyptus that runs throughout the composition. Now, here's the thing with Royal Mayfair. I can absolutely appreciate the quality of the fragrance, but I don't think it's quite for me personally. Between the medicinal edge of the eucalyptus and the presence of tuberose, which is a note I've never been particularly fond of, there is always something keeping me from fully connecting with it. The tuberose is never overpowering and it does become less noticeable as the fragrance develops, but I can still pick up something that reminds me of it throughout the wear. I can also understand the comparison many people make to tennis balls. There is a slightly sweet, dewy, almost fuzzy quality to the scent that genuinely brings that comparison to mind. What's funny is that Royal Mayfair smells more like tennis balls than fragrances that actually try to capture that smell, such as Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn or D.S. & Durga Crush Balls. This is not a bad fragrance by any means. In fact, it has grown on me the more I've worn it. It smells classy, refined, and quite unique in today's fragrance landscape. It simply doesn't align with my personal tastes. For those who enjoy green florals, eucalyptus, and fragrances with a more traditional character, Royal Mayfair could be a fantastic fragrance. As for me, it's one that I can certainly appreciate and respect, even if it isn't something I see myself reaching for very often.

CREED ROYAL MAYFAIR 6/16/26 I have owned this for about 6 years now. Wearing it to the office several times a year. But I once heard a few coworkers say they smelt mothballs in the air when I wore it. I then started layering it with Bleu de Chanel EDP. And now I hear "Someone smells good". It works out much nicer FOR ME layering it and I find I reach for it a lot more. It is now easier on the nose. I liked its scent on its own too, but for the office, layering with BdC, works wonderfully. And I am now wearing 2 rarely used colognes in my collection more often now. So that's good in my book.

Okay, hear me out. Someone below said this smells like a freshly opened can of tennis balls, and that may just be the most accurate description I’ve ever read. But… I absolutely dig that about it. It’s so fresh, so summery, and so strangely tennis-ball-ish, and because of that, it feels completely unique and the kind of scent I can’t help but think I need in my collection. The menthol and eucalyptus are clean, uplifting and camphorous, with this slightly medicinal, minty edge that I find weirdly compelling. The rose is subtle, and really needs some warmth on skin to coax it out. Without which, it doesn’t quite get its moment - but sprinkle in a bit of sunshine and you’re rewarded with a fresh and woody floral that avoids all the jammy, overly saccharine sweetness rose can sometimes bring. I know I’m in the minority when it comes to this style, but what can I say… I think tennis balls smell great.

I do not think I understand this one. Opening aromantic eucalyptus and piney. Dry down and beyond is akin to some kind of weird herbal syrup....? I do intend to keep trying but this was a bummer. It has closer sillage but lasts a good while.

The opening actually almost reminds me of wintergreen gum and it was just okay to me, but man, that drydown on this 2016 bottle I've got here is one of the best in the Creed catalogue. Fresh yet deep woody eucalyptus, almost minty without quite being that. not overly astringent or nose-tickly, just gorgeous.

Surprisingly, the scent is more challenging and not very inviting. Like a lighter Royal Oud? ⸻ Something more towards a dried herb; if Royal Oud is a cedar syrup, this is more herbal, more incense-like. Like taking something like French Lover and soaking it in water. As expected from Creed.

The nice lady at Nordstrom whose name I never caught let me try this and I did NOT like it.

This is absolutely terrible. The bottle is a beautiful 10/10, the juice is an abomination. The person who said it smells like opening a fresh can of tennis balls is absolutely correct. I smell eucalyptus and wet tennis ball, yet somehow new wet tennis ball. Would not wear this if paid to do so.

Royal Mayfair is one of the few good eucalyptus scents out there. A marvelous, silvery, shining cologne with a steady wood core. Within an hour we’re in Iso E Super territory, unfortunately, plus a rather sour rose. but it’s light. Hangs on all day at near-imperceptibility, in a soft rose-and-wood mist that’s somehow still silvery and a touch sweet.

A very simple fragrance. Straight up pine with eucalyptus all the way. Around 4 hours in, as it weakens, eucalyptus starts taking over. Good, high quality, fresh scent. Not too strong, not too weak, perfect balance. The thing is, there's nothing else to it. Does last and moderately project. 2-3 hours of active performance indoors, gets noticeably weaker during the next 3-4 hours, by around 7 hours vanishes entirely. If I were rich, I would own and use this for sure.

The word of the day is Frivolity. This is where Creed’s Royal Mayfair lives. This scent is lighthearted, sweet, charismatic, inviting. To plant us somewhere, let’s start at an outdoor Gatsbian party. 1920’s. Seer sucker suits and pastels. Gatsby himself wouldn’t be in this scent. Gatsby would be wearer something in the neighborhood of Royal Mayfair, with a darker underbelly dry down. This scent is one of the guests in attendance without the negative connotations. I usually gravitate toward spice and mystery, a little intrigue in my scent, so I am surprised I like this one as much as I do. It was the runner up in my quest for a wedding scent. We have the bright polished honeysuckles and garden blooms surrounding you. A smooth lemon and lime, cooled by the ice clinking around in gin drinks. The weather is late Spring heat, and finding a tree’s shade to get under is a relief. I can’t even be sure that I can narrow it down to a single person’s fragrance, as if Royal Mayfair mixes to life where ever a small group tells a story full of laughs. The sweat doesn’t stop the style of the day. A well-dressed scent for sure, and if I was forced to place a sex I’d lean masculine only the slightest bit. This is not a “man’s man” scent of today however. Rugged and masculine do not come. It’s smooth and floral in the dry down, cedar is mentioned but the honeysuckle and dense, fleshy petals outweigh it. As well blended as anything the bartender serves. To have fun with the character of our tale, I don’t think this man knew what he was buying when he got it. I think he sprayed it on at an acquaintances bottle before leaving his house, got a couple of compliments, and had to buy it. He had his own colognes, but went to buy Royal Mayfair, being a little shocked at the price but springing for it because of the attention it gets over the quality of the scent. New money in an old time, buying it frivolously because it doesn’t hurt your cash, and ending up with something beautiful on accident. This is one of my top two from Creed. And no, Aventus isn’t the other one.

I literally cannot get enough of the amazing eucalyptus and rose notes throughout the duration, along with that pine that’s never overwhelming. I think this is close to a masterpiece, personally. It’s such a beautiful and under appreciated fragrance! That said, I’m also excited to try out the newest version soon!

I figured it out. After years of sitting on the shelf collecting dust, I tried this again and found a place for this…. Every single time I wore this I cannot stand the first 20 minutes. It’s the dry down that makes this good. I get that signature woody ambergris sillage with a touch of rose. Almost smells slightly medicinal in a weird way… but interesting. So i got the magical idea to layer this with aqcua di Parma cedro di taormina. Boom. It became a whole new dna. Then I tried it with BDC and its so good! Adding a blue fresh on top of this will add some serious character that makes it so much better. Moral of story is, if you can shell out $400 for this to use as a layer scent, do it. Not saying it’s not good by itself. However, the mothball type deal can be dampened with something bright and fresh to really make this pop.

I have never smelled a more beautiful spring jasmine fragrance in my life. In a word, it's a magnificent perfume. I recommend everyone who hasn't tried it to do so if they can find it.

This smells like a funeral parlour. Tripping face-first into the flower arrangement while sucking on a greasy coin. 50% Oily vetiver and 50% 'shake-n-vac' potpourri on top. Something I'd say it is fitting for a Grandma in her 70's, but laughable to imply this is in any way masculine.

Royal Mayfair is so unique and different, it smells so expensive and mature, which makes it harder to wear in my opinion. The pine note screams at me and it's something I don't find in that many other fragrances. It can smell a bit medicinal but overall this is such a great and unique fragrance.

Gorgeous. Smells expensive. Warm opening. A gentle very mildly spicy warmth. I get the pine. There is a gentle eucalyptus too. Rose is lovely and soft. The projection is more intimate but length is excellent, over 8 hours for me. So very classy but not uptight. This is like a warm blanket, comforting but also confidence inspiring. The perfect compliment to Green Irish Tweed for Spring.

Many people mention how this fragrance is more suited for an older person. I can see where they’re coming from, but I’m grateful I didn’t let that put me off from trying it. I exhausted a 5 mL decant after perhaps three weeks, and repurchased immediately after. As a 22 year old guy going to uni, this has been my signature fragrance ever since I got it. Note that I do lean towards the classic side when it comes to dressing, and so that might make Royal Mayfair less out of place for me. To my nose, Royal Mayfair is mainly a rose and eucalyptus affair. Eucalyptus is very noticeable during the opening, but then it fades into the background as the day goes. Rose, on the other hand, is a constant and remains until the very end, which surprisingly takes quite long to reach. It’s a watery and somewhat powdery type of rose, very elegant and sober. Typically I’m not that much into rose as it often comes across either metallic or even sort of uric to me, but this one has neither of those qualities. The other notes are not as individually discernible to me, but I do get hints of citrus and woods. It’s a very unique blend which would definitely make you stand out from the crowd. Notes aside, I think Royal Mayfair is a highly transformative and transportive scent. It takes my mind to a calm and confident space, yet it also brings a sense of melancholy. Sorta like a slow waltz or an adagio. People (peers that are the same age as I) also react positively to it, which I didn’t anticipate. I went to a daytime function on my campus yesterday where everyone dressed formally, a suit and tie for the guys. I wore this then and one of my friends remarked that he hadn’t smelled this one on me before. Two other friends joined in on the conversation and they all sprayed a few sprays from the decant I brought. They unanimously liked it. I think this is proof that given the right circumstances and attitude, a young guy in his early 20’s can absolutely pull Royal Mayfair off. It’s even more versatile than you probably think, not just limited to formal events. I had it on when I was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans at a family gathering and the way the smell was perceived changed to suit the occasion. My verdict is that this is a very sophisticated and highly unique scent. Longevity is surprisingly good, lasting an 8 hour day of classes, or perhaps longer. Projection and sillage is moderate to low, but it is not at all a skin-scent. You definitely detect it throughout the day. Others detect and like it too based on my anecdote. This is another Creed fragrance that I’d like to get a full bottle of, along with Royal Oud which is my favourite and Green Irish Tweed. It’s a love at first sniff, so much so that it made me write my first ever review on Fragrantica. I don’t know if it has actually been discontinued as some of you mentioned. I hope it hasn’t. I’m also curious about Windsor, its predecessor, although I strongly feel that it’s gonna be impossible to get a decant here in Indonesia. I think it’s highly recommended to try Royal Mayfair out, at least with a decant. You might be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

This is unbelievably classy and understated. Fresh, floral, green, minty, velvety smooth, unique. Pure grown class. Immediately one of the best frags in my collection. 10/10

Delicate orchid petals - oily citrus, pine wax, jasmine-y yellow flowers, fatty mentholic notes, somehow weave themselves into a pretty polished composition. Soft, round, mellow vibes overall. Mostly linear, although I see where some reviewers are seeing the mothball/indolic notes come out more towards the end of the dry down along with a violette note.

Such a good fragrance. What a shame that people don't give it the chance that it deserves.

As a rose lover 🌹🌺❤️ I can tell you that the best rose perfume I have smelled in my entire life...I lost my expression! Don't judge the perfume by the first spray, wait a little while and you will smell a natural rose scent that you have never smelled before. As for me, I enjoy the scent from the first spray. The smell of somewhat earthy pine trees is followed by a party of natural roses with a touch of lemon that gives a sweet character to the perfume. Then the cedar comes at the end to enhance the elegance. If you are a fan of Dior Sauvage or other easy fragrances, I don’t recommend this perfume to you. Masterpiece ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
