Dior Homme Original

Just picked mine back up from Jomashop compared it with my former bottle I feel like they neutered this thing! I will let it sit. Off first impression I’m a little disappointed.

I was on the fence about ordering a new bottle after exhausting my old one some years ago, reading and hearing abundant talk about reformulations and poor performance. I saw it pop up on JS, and was quite surprised when I put it on earlier today. Not only did it smell very much the way I remember it smelling, I actually think it outperforms my older bottle? This has been on skin for over 7-ish hours, and it is still very much present. I don't think my old bottle did this well. Maybe it did, and my memory is screwy. I don't know. Either way, I am relieved that whatever they've done to this hasn't destroyed it completely like others in the line.

Even though it seems to be really cool these days to bash everything designer and praise everything niche, this, in my opinion remains one of the greatest creations of all time. I have the vintage release AND this newer original release. They're identical, apart from the vintage one being macerated after sitting more than a decade. Elegant, timeless, non-offensive and wearable in every thinkable scenario. I don't wear mine often. It's not amongst my favorites. Considering it's original launch date and the major disruption in (male) perfumery this created, I believe the perfume deserves respect.

The greatest! I still have the original version with the silver stem that I bought in 2006 in Cyprus. I smelled Dior Homme the first time there and instantly got goose bumps so, I bought two bottles and the 2nd remains almost full to this day. Are you jealous yet? No need to be, the "Original" release is spot on the same when compared with the 2005 release. And I'm talking a paper strip to paper strip. Yes, the longevity is slightly weaker, but it's always been Eau de Toilette and I spray it on my clothes which makes it last the whole day anyway. I think this will be my forever signature masculine scent, especially when I'm rocking a mocha-coloured, full length cashmere coat in winter (if the global warming allows). Thank you DIOR!

Lovely scent. About a year ago, I wrote a review defending the 2020 release/reformulation of Dior Homme, and while I still stand by those words, I understand the backlash now after trying this for a few days. I must say, I am a big fan. It's so quaint and gentle, yet daring compared to today's loud designer offerings. This must have felt revolutionary in 2005. The scent features Dior's signature Iris backed up by citrus, vetiver, and a unique cacao note. If you are familiar with Dior Homme Intense, this is like a more airy version of that. They are complimentary fragrances, in my opinion. My only gripe is the longevity, everything else is wonderful. I can only hope the original Homme Parfum gets similar treatment, but I'm doubtful that will happen with FK at the helm :(

Such a beautiful fragrance in my view. One of my favourites. There are not many I hold in higher regard. I really like the intense version also and that seems to get all the plaudits but this is the more wearable fragrance for me. It is for me the best Iris scent that I have in my collection and I have numerous. It is Iris done right, bright opening, sweetened dry down. Just lovely. Whenever i wear this it feels like I am treating myself

Dior did a fantastic job with making this as close to the OG as possible. 10/10. 07/17/2026 Edit: Brought this on vacation. Most of my day's are outside by a swimming pool at a resort. Wore this yesterday after my morning shower and headed to our cabana. 5 sprays. High 80's and humid with lots of sun. Was at a swim-up bar around noon and the guy next to me said I smelled good. Around 5pm we were getting ready to leave our cabana and our waitress asked me what I was wearing. She said she could smell it every time she came inside our cabana. I'm pretty impressed what the heat can do with this masterpiece.

Dior Homme Original is a great scent. Very freshy citrusy iris fragrance. To be honest I'm a little bit confused. I have Dior Homme Intense 2011 and 2025 version. 2025 version of the Dior Homme Intense goes very close to Dior Homme Original. Citrusy notes above the well known lipsticky iris. That's why I'm so confused. They are almost identical. Sadly, Dior decided to destroy Homme Parfum, now they turn Dior Homme Intense to Dior Homme Original...

This is a gorgeous scent, all year around, office, at home, all day and for all purposes. I have more iris based scents, they are all good, but this one is in its own class completely. Iris is the body of it, but the aditional notes in here, are so mysteriously well integrated and the result is this unique scent, as some put it cola, but that a bit misleading but I understand why someone would write that. It is unique as I said and it is subtle and perfect for all situations. A must have, unless you really dont like Iris that is

This is what I wear if I'm lounging around the house. It is cozy, intimate, and the iris is beautiful.

Wearing one spray of this on one arm, with one spray of my older bottle on the other arm. I'm very happy to be able to say that I can't really detect any significant difference at all. This is indeed still the original Dior Homme. Thank god! My older bottle might be ever so slightly sweeter, but it could also be seen as ever so slightly "stale" by comparison, so I'm pretty sure this is mostly just about age and maceration rather than any actual difference in the fragrance itself. If anything, Dior Homme Original smells slightly more "fresh", but not in terms of being a more fresh scent but in terms of smelling like more fresh raw materials, which is also literally the case so it makes sense. A few hours in, and I'm not detecting any real difference in the drydown either. If I have to dig out some difference, maybe the new one is slightly more "sparkly" and effervescent in the powdery iris, while the old one is slightly more subdued and slightly more sweet. But the difference is really minimal. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Dior for keeping this classic around and - as far as I can tell - untouched. It's still as good as ever, and I love it!

Dior homme intense is my all time favourite. Used it for years. Cant believe I have not tried the original until now. Beautiful scent! Love it!

If longevity and power are what you are looking for in a fragrance, then this is not for you. This is a very intimate fragrance. Great for evening wear. I like wearing it to bed. It also is great for layering with DHP, old formulation. It adds a perfect softly sweet layer to DHP. These are getting hard to find but if you appreciate Iris, then you need this in your collection.

Nothing smells like it. No really, there are no dupes. No clones. This is a masterpiece that can’t be replicated. It earns its reputation for being the best designer fragrance ever.

Refined, attractive, and inviting. The iris is creamy and just a little sweet, though much less so than the current DHI. It smells sophisticated without being aloof. For about 90 minutes. Edit: Actually I take it back, the longevity is actually pretty impressive. I can still smell it when I wake up after putting it on around 7pm before going out for the evening. But it is an extremely subtle scent, you will just gets hints of it throughout the day. But oh my what a scent it is.

I actually prefer this to the silver stem original, and the new (2025) DHI. Something so smooth about that Iris / Cocoa combo.

Fell in love with Dior Homme Intense and wanted to find a lighter version that would be suitable for office wear. Blind bought this from the official Dior online store as it was nearly impossible to find any other place. This did not disappoint. Everything I love about DHI, but lighter. Smells very similar. The longevity could be better, but as a office scent this works perfectly. Won't choke anyone out and you will catch wiffs all day at work.

If this were as easy to get as BDC in The States.... This is all I would wear. Top of the frag is a lighter Dior Homme Intense *(I know... redundant) that high quality buttery iris glows here. However, the dry down is lovely as well and to me maybe unlike DHI. A high quality and clean vetiver almost reminds of Encre Noir by Lalique. High quality Iris, cardamom, and vetiver here, just like the notes on fragrantica suggest. 10/10 men's fragrance. If you like the intense, this is just a more subtle and more wearable version and imo, done perfectly. Thank you, François Demachy and Dior!

I adore this one, takes everything I like about intense but makes it even better. The cardamom, better balanced iris, increased versatility makes this one a no brainer in the cooler months and the performance is surprisingly really good too. Probably my favorite from Dior, class in a bottle.

Like Dior Homme Intense but.... less intense. Year round scent IMO. It has a bit of an earthiness to it that makes it stand out. Very beautiful.

I've always used DHI, at least 10 bottles! But today I saw the Original. I'd smelled dior homme before and never liked it! It was an ordinary scent, woody and not iris-scented, but that was something else; this Original is different. I especially loved the vetiver scent in the Original.

Smells ethereal and holy. It’s almost angelic At least 90% similar to DHI but a tiny bit more clean/fresh than the intense as it has more sweet depth. This iris line is just perfect as I can’t think of a reason to possibly dislike it or an occasion where I can’t wear this. Yeah maybe on skin it projects 2 hours but it’s always the best smelling things that do. On clothes however it's on overnight so it’s worth it for me Edit: this actually kinda lasts long, i'm impressed. Real sleeper gem from dior. Also no one says this but to me i get a slight cola/soda impression from it. When i smelt DHI for the first time it made me think about dr pepper i dont know why Genuine strong 8

The best of the Dior’s. Hard to get you hands on (where i’m from), but so worth it. 9/10.

François Demachy and Quentin Bisch are my favorite perfumers. The Dior line is amazing and the Homme Original is magnificent by all means. I live it, but I wish it had a better longevity
