balzam powdery, a bit like chanel 05 but can work great in any occassion if you're into that kind of smell
This is the spitting image of 1876 by Histoires de Parfums, but perhaps gone slightly sour. I tried this out as it was recommended as a potential "dried flowers" scent, which I am on the hunt for. There is nothing really dry about this, despite being powdery to the extreme; it is more creamy and slightly oily. I think it must be the rose and resins giving it a slight sourness, though the rose is undetectable in every other aspect, drowned out by the powdery iris and violet.
This smells like a body exhausted from sex, like human secretions mixed with damp sheets washed in a vanilla fabric softener. I’m not sure if I actually want to smell like this—I reached for it more out of curiosity.
This is a powdery sweet iris scent with a balsamic, honey like aspect to it and it is gorgeous! I wouldn't say this is a "granny" perfume, but it does have a vintage vibe to it and I can imagine a Hollywood ingénue wearing this. This is soft, innocent sensuality - sultry and elegant. It makes me think of twilight when the sky is turning into a dusty shade of purple and expensive silk dresses.
I adore Bianchi’s iris the most in Encounters and Angel’s dust, personally I do not get all these comments about sweetness and powderness here, for me the opening is about gorgeous butter iris, i wish it lasted longer, after 2 hours on my skin it comes to tolu balsam, but first 2 hours are just perfect
Another great Bianchi creation, and this time somewhat of a departure from her signature base composition - no chokingly dense oakmoss or human skin like ambergris, but instead a spectacular bouquet of powdery flowers, followed by rose petals, backed up by balsamic resins and sandalwood and vanillic sweetness, and some nose tingling black pepper in the opening. As usual - incredible quality of naturally smelling and masterfully blended ingredients and essential oils. Honestly, if you apply the number of sprays accordingly, this can work in any weather, from the cold of winter to the high summer heat - it has what it needs in its composition to make it work. Unisex? Absolutely. Worth a buy? Yeah, i got a 30ml at a very good price, but its a scent of such quality that i could consider going for the full 100ml down the line.
Old fashioned cosmetics in a boudoir that is furnished with beautiful wood antique furniture. Yes it has a cosmetics scent but it's not a sweet, girlish cosmetic like that found in Lipstick On, Lipstick Fever, LVEB Iris Absolu, etc. It's an old Hollywood glamour cosmetics accord that can be found in other fragrances such as Incarnata, Kimono, or Hanamachi. Backstage of a burlesque show.
Reviewing a bottle of Extrait de Parfum from 2021. Angel's Dust was launched in 2016. Angel's Dust is a modern powdery iris that gives a nod to the past by beautifully layering the florals over a deep ambery base rather than the typical overdosed toxic ambroxen bombs in newer powdery releases. This opens with soft powdery mimosa blended with Iris and violets. More floral than lipstick. The rich resinous amber base smells natural and is long-lasting. The pepper is subtle. There is only a touch of honeyed sweetness and no typical animalics although there is a slight urinous undertone perhaps from the honey or civet. Quality: 4.5/10 Although released in 2016 as of 2021 it is still excellent Leans feminine but can be worn by anyone Performance: 4/5 arms length sillage , lasts 6-8 hours Perfectly executed powdery Iris with depth as in the classical tradition. For those looking for a light sugary clean synthetic iris, this is not for you. Personally I love it and it is one of my FB favourites along with Etruscan Water, Black Knight and Under my Skin. 9/10
If you know Serge Lutens Feminite du bois then you know how it smells. These 2 are almost the same.
This smells like Metaxa in an old crystal glass, pulled from your grandma's dusty cupboard, and it's wonderful! It's intoxicating, and I want to sniff my wrist constantly. On my skin, it's not exactly flashy, but it envelops me in a cloud of fragrance. It smells yummy and stimulates my appetite! Although I wouldn't classify it as a gourmand fragrance. I think it's a unique composition. It's hard for me to compare it to anything. If you like floral notes, Metaxa, and are, like me, a bit of a vintage grandma at heart, you'll be delighted!
Pretty, and I really crave it. There is a cosmetic facet here as part of how the iris-mimosa is expressed. But in general I’ve never encountered this smell in the wild before. My friend told me it smelled like “bubblegum” which I can see if I squint. But: people looking for a generic “feminine” will not find it here.
For me, the tolu balsam ruins the show. I’ve picked up that same bitterness in Tolu by Ormonde Jayne, when I realised I don’t like this note at all. Together with the pollen note, it gives me a headache. Bitter cosmetic powder from an old drawer. This scent would feel very authentic on stage in a classical opera, with absolutism-era wigs and lace-trimmed sleeves with puffed breeches.
Reading through the comments I was confused by how some comments differ so greatly from each other : on paper: this is powdery and iris forward, like you just stepped out of the shower and jumped into a tub of baby powder. On skin: I get none of that, it’s mainly the balsam + black pepper. I do agree with a comment from someone where it’s giving old 1800s home 😅 like in those scaring movies 🤣. # alwaystryonskinbeforepurchasing Update ( 30mins later 😅): after overcoming that wet sawdust/old floorboard scent that it was giving the iris and powder showed itself and it became a beautiful scent 😊. #giveittime
Lipstick, sweet incense and damp florals. Very skin-close. It opens interestingly with musk and benzoin, but unfortunately gets taken over by vanilla and ends up feeling a bit flat and generically feminine on my skin. For those who enjoy soft, powdery, cosmetic-style scents this will probably be lovely - but it leans too sweet and conventional for my taste.
Very very powdery with iris and benzoin.Lipsticky feel.Kind of weird. Not my favorite. Its dark, powdery, lipsticky at the same time.Like someone said it’s not a safe blind buy.
With all the reviews of this being ethereal I was expecting a really light airy powdery smell. This is not a delicate smell, it’s super dense and borderline sickly sweet but with a powdery base which is kind of confusing to the nose. I asked my boyfriend for his opinion and he said the exact same thing, he even said it smells like it would be headache inducing. Definitely not blind buy safe, make sure you get sample.
It is gorgeous once the initial geranium-rosiness fades. I think she might be a bit rose blind. The sandalwood in the base is stunning. Mimosa is shadowed by the rose. I would have loved some patchouli in this. Musks are well blended. It feels like it could have done well with a more articulate opening. Resins are ok. 6.75/10.
Well this smells NOTHING of what i expected. I dont know in which world you guys smell powderiness and iris and mimosa in this perfume because i dont. This is not powdery AT ALL . This is 90% benzoin and tolu balsam. Veeeery balsamic ambery deep and kinda animalic too. Does it smell bad ? No, not at all. This is a more mature lady , I would say mid to late 30s or more, and it smells vintage to me. An old room form the 1800s in a house with dark wood and a fireplace and everyone living here is serious ahha 😅 I dont know what to say, it smells good but i was looking for a powdery scent and THIS IS NOT . Also this is not light or airy and sweet. This is a dark heavy scent that is not sweet at all. The marketing and name of this perfume is all wrong.
Yes. Honey powder Iris soft but deep projection. This reminds me of 17th century French royalty with a 90s twist
sometimes you sample a perfume that is so divine and so out of control in how controlled it is that all you can say is 'goddammit'. a lightly honeyed, very powdery iris. a resinous refined musk. goddammit! she's an angel!
so many of her fragrances are ruined by how spicy-ambery they are. heavy on the spices and amber can barely smell the iris-florals AND its not powdery to me
I blind bought Francesca Bianchi’s Angel’s Dust. It smells like “ something familiar”…. others have compared it to Guerlain’s Insolence, but that’s not it. What IS IT?! I smell “old world“ powdery, iris, violet, a bit skanky, tiny bit of rose, some pepper, mimosa. WHAT am I smelling that is so familiar?!?! I am SO impressed with Francesca Bianchi scents. I am head- over- heels with Under My Skin. This one is no exception♥️ EDIT: I HAVE IT! Guerlain’s classic-Guet Apens/ Attrape Coeur. Ughhhh…stunning!
Francesca Bianchi is such a talented artist: if her fragrances were signed by any of renowned old men of the industry, people would be falling head over heels with their ingenuity and originality all the time, no questions asked. Since she is a beautiful woman, things are a bit more tricky. She has nevertheless talent comparable to that of Dominic Ropion, who like her creates compositions which are demanding and trying. They require an adjustment, in stead of pleasing. My only problem with being her customer is that I can hardly imagine a day in my life when I would be perfect enough to wear her fragrances. I mean, they make me think of lush bedrooms, silky skin and perfect life, that I don’t currently have and never will. Angel’s Dust is one of these smells: it’s nostalgic about era of meringue mansions, marble staircases and spotless chandeliers, and mostly something that probably never existed. If this is not pure artistry in perfume making, I don’t know what is.
Must have been really old angel...Tangy sweet, so much sweet its cloying, honey in your hair, not pleasant experience and not pleasant hardcore retro vibe that is waaaay outdated even for forty and fifty year old wearer. Stay away! Unisex? Oh...dont think so.
This winter most of the Bianchi scents I didn’t care for clicked for me and this one might be the biggest flip of them all.. it’s so much more than just powdery musks. This one is smooth as butter. It’s sweet yes but also savory and it smells like it’s melting in your mouth. I haven’t worn it in public yet bc I’m kind of afraid of how it will be perceived which is rare for me. Typically idgaf! But this makes me shy. Like I’m announcing to the world that I’m ready for love
Immediately upon spraying I thought "didn't I JUST smell this somewhere?" and then I realized it's quite similar to Jardins d'Armide by Oriza L. Legrand, but slightly more dense and less green than Jardins.
Since this is obviously such a ”niche” brand of perfumes, I am surprised that this one is such a soft and kind of ”cute” fragrance! Cute in a good way - not childish! Very feminine, very creamy, a little powdery, a bit lipsticky. Not strong, not offending anyone, but it stays on for a long time. The kind of fragrance that makes someone inhale deeply when they give you a hug - even if that person is your lover, a friend or a little child. Got it to my door today, and I already love it! My best purchase in a long time. The only issue is the price. Got a 30 ml, but I would like to use it so much, that I would love a big bottle! Totally endearing… Edit: Since it has such an intimate sillage, I will be content with this smaller bottle that I have got. Otherwise, I feel that I will waste my money. It is a lovely fragrance, full of honey, but just a little bit too weak for me!
i binge read dangerous liaisons after getting this perfume, while completely drenched in it, of course, and i've got to say, it has increased my affinity toward it by threefold. this is simply incomprehensible, i almost feel like you don't deserve it completely, until you have read that work, as well as looked at Belle Époque paintings for, like, 2 hours. RIP Marthe de Florian, you would have LOVED THIS
Such a pleasant surprise! This is so feminine without being too 'girly' or 'sweet,' but it's not in any way dated or 'old' either. Like all of Francesca's creations, it has a vintage flair while also being very modern and edgy. It's fluffy, airy, powdery, like sugar crystals, vintage makeup powder, pink matte dusty rose lipsticks, with waxy yet buttery iris, but it's also a bit animalic, musky, like dirty cotton candy. There's that 'boudoir' vibe in here, but not like the dirty, ashy, unwashed-pantyhose-and-old-cigarette-butts vibe that I perceive in Vivienne Westwood, for instance. It's clean, but very alluring, not as innocent as it might seem. I love it, and I love Francesca's work.
Francesca really has a specific style and I love it. This is a lovely and unique perfume with her signature style. It’s not for everyone but it’s really well done. It’s overwhelming, pompous and over the top. It’s very very sweet and powdery. Really vintage like vintage make up and perfumes that you find in your mom’s old cabinet ( if you’re over 30, if you’re younger than that mom’s make up doesn’t smell vintage yet) Definitely not blind buy safe. And definitely not a subtle perfume. You will definitely get attention if you wear it because the performance in Bianchis perfumes is out of this world’s.
