My number 1 extreme-summer scent. How I will regret it when I run out of my bottles.
This is a banger for me. Yes, it might not have good projection and might not last that long, but my goodness I have to come for a whiff of my wrist every time I can. I actually feel like I get more of the aromatics than the citruses but never feels unbalanced. I got for $48 or something like that so, I definitely am extra happy about my purchase.
Absolutely fantastic summer scent. Original and daring in its category. Citrus cologne style is elevated here with grassy, almost carrot-like, clean vetiver and of course gentle floral iris. In a way I see this as modernized DNA of Eau Sauvage. If I could pick only one cologne for summer, this would be it. A true modern classic for a gentleman. In case you cannot find it the closest fragrance would be Lalique White. It gets you similar feel, but White is more spicy and you get more green petitgrain. There is also Gentleman EdT from 2017. But that one is much sweeter, but it keeps the fresh iris. I hope we get another fresh release from this line.
This fragrance is a stunning exercise in high-definition minimalism. While many modern scents rely on heavy sweetness, Givenchy Gentleman Cologne leans into a crystalline, "white-out" freshness that feels both retro and avant-garde. Traditionally, I dislike Iris note used to create something heavy and lipsticky. A Cologne, meanwhile, is usually just citrus and water. Givenchy did something "counter-intuitive" here : the powdery Iris DNA is transformed from a warm note to something metallic and icy. This really defies the blue-trend : it's bone-dry, zero sugar in the bottle and its originality is its austerity and minimalism. A masterpiece that left us too early !
Amazing blind buy! Get it while you can! Off the top, I get a bright and juicy bergamot note with a floral component from the petitgrain and iris. As it dries down, the citrus loses just a little bit of its potency, and it reveals a fairly standard but very pleasant floral/woody dry down. Even though it's just a citrus fragrance, it actually has a surprising amount of depth. Sometimes I get florals. Sometimes I get citrus. Sometimes I get soap. Sometimes I even pick up a green tea or bamboo note. It's just a wonderfully crafted fragrance. Also, don't worry about the ambroxan note if you're not a fan. It's basically only there to lay down a solid foundation for the rest of the notes to sit on top off. It doesn't smell like a woody shower gel. It just smells clean. The same thing applies to the iris note. It's not waxy, just fresh. Overall Score: 9/10 Strong Blind Buy Recommendation! I'm pretty harsh when it comes to giving scores, so a 9/10 is actually really good. It's nothing terribly unique, but the citrus, iris, and green notes are blended to near perfection. Performance is really the only negative (it's extremely weak), but I don't really care about that. Based on scent alone, this has instantly become one of my favorite fragrances ever.
One of my favorite frags. So clean and elegant especially on the dry down. 9/10
one of the best fragrances ever, so sad for not being able to have it again
Oh yes, when the weather gets really sticky, dirty and hot and you still have to perform, this one is perfect. - Oh ja als het echt klam vies en benauwd warm weer wordt en je moet toch presteren is deze perfect.
Why have they discontinued this!!!!!!!! We need this back!
I absolutely love this scent, especially in the office and on the warmer days. Combine Dior homme eau with TF neroli portofino acqua and this is what you get. This is a chill, mature man—either in a white t shirt or a white dress shirt. This is a gentleman. 9.5/10
Classy and office safe. Soft village. Spray on clothes to extend performance. Herbal and pleasing. No one will dislike this. Wear casually or with a white shirt for complements. Underrated!
The longevity on my skin is 3 to 4 hours long. This is has become my number one gym scent.
I bought this blindly for an insanely cheap price. I can barely smell it but when I get close to my skin I smell iris?!? Really clean and safe when I do smell it though. its just sitting in my collection 😕
Slice of Italy.
Light, airy & comfortable fragrance for Gentlemen. Inoffensive and pleasing though that individual(s) will have to be pretty close to catch a whiff of this scent. We'll put together fragrance that just announces a freshness that is very welcoming. To my nose it has that slight clean iris with a citrus nuance at the top that as it dries down gives me an aromatic flair from the Rosemary combined with a woody musky vibe that is smooth. Maybe 45 mins to an hour of soft projection then a total skin scent for about 5-6 hours on a good day. My Mrs gets very light smells of it after an 8-9 hour work day on occasion so, body temp & skin ph may have something to do with that. I go completely anosmic to it within a couple of hours but, it has teeth and lingers on skin for some time. It really is a beautiful fragrance that encapsulates linen pants & shirt vibe having a light brunch or casual dinner date out in the opening at a favorite bistro on a nice warm evening. Great for the office as it won't permeate to another's nose where you might catch a side eye (I can give 2 craps if it offends or not) from those that are sensitive to fragrances. If I were to stay exclusively to the Givenchy Gentleman line up, it would be Gentleman Cologne, Gentleman Intense & Gentleman Boisee. These 3 would cover a Man year round with class, taste & sophistication....
Meh this is just a more expensive version of Dunhill icon... citrusy iris with some green accords in it. Basically dunhill icon You can find a few others similar though like lalique pour homme, although this is more citrusy and brighter
Review #2: I didn’t get the resemblance till now, but a few minutes after the opening this smells quite similar to Gucci PH2.. despite this having a noticeable Iris compared to violet in GPH2. Maybe it’s the juicy non-tart bergamot. I FUCKIGGGGG HATE IRIS btw 🤢, but this scent has grown on me.
Used to wear it when training, stays for 2-3 hours ,maximum. Great perfumers behind it but the end product was something that no one cares about. Bottle is beautiful for photos, can’t find it anymore so I suspect it will be pumped to the sky from re-sellers. Don’t fall for it. Price should be 30$ at best ,for what you get. (Only because it is Givenchy an who made it) *otherwise scent is beautiful
bruh, this smells like my grandma.
This is smooth as fuck. If you find most neroli/petitgrain scents too sharp and herbal, a la artisan pure, seek this one out. The iris really gives this a creamy facet rarely found in these type of scents. A real winner.
Nice, fresh summer cologne. I got few bottles, I can share,if interested.
This is one frag that has shown me that a designer can compete with higher-end niche frags, at least for me. There is something about this scent that I always think of during the warmer days when I'm trying to decide which one to wear. I've worn this going out, at home, to the gym, to work. It works for me in any setting.
Bring this back, please. It's awesome.
@Kellykiller: the 2 mentioned are totally different Gentleman cologne is super fresh, herbal, light, like detergent one while Luna rosa Ocean has shower gel vibe, not aquatic at all, more of a blue fragrance
so they discontinued this outstanding fresh and original gem, but keep releasing every year another sugarsweet cold weather flanker. world gone mad.
i couldn't find this in the stores anywhere. is it similar to prada luna rossa ocean edt?
almost citrusy and pricey a pass for me
Really unique freshy. The combination between citrus, petit grain and iris gives it an aura that does not ressemble to any other one. It lasts more in very hot days. This is the only powdery fragrance I love, I'm from those who dont like the make up scent aspect of iris, but here, iris gives it its uniqueness whithout being an excessive note.
So finally the spring time arrived to here in Scandinavia! Refound this gem from my summer collection, very next to Dior Eau Sauvages etc...maturated now couple of seasons. The opening is recognable, on kind of unique, achievement have to admit among today's "one season only" newbies mess. Reading these critics, this gem is discontinued! Well, OF COURSE it is!!! I WOULD buy it for second, no, maybe a fiew times more IF IT would be available for tomorrow too! Shame on you all the fragrance houses, to being so naive on your "effective" marketing researches! A pussies without ANY self confidence!😩
Got this on a whim... I agree with the other reviews that the opening is outstanding. You go nose blind to the smell after a while, but the dry down is equally lovely. This doesn't last more than 5 hours, but that covers most situations. If you are looking for a green summer scent this is your stuff. I almost get pear in the opening, but it isn't a note. Maybe it is grass with citrus? This is a great alternative to Aqua di Gio or Y...
