Eau de Citron Noir

It smells just like slightly sugared citrons/lemons. Unsurprisingly, the opening is extremely fresh and clean. There is some subtle depth underneath, presumably the smoke, woods, and tea. You could wear this anywhere at any time. I don't like it as much as my other Hermes fragrances, but I could definitely see owning this for a day that you wanted lemon rather than another citrus. Longevity isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. After 8 hours, you really can't tell that I applied anything to my wrists.

It smells like you rubbed lemon zest on your skin and the longevity is terrible. Very linear and realistic, but without any depth.

I love the smoky, dried black lime accord. The perfumer really nailed it! It’s a nice take on citrus in a way that mellows the astringency. Unfortuantely, the performance is fleeting. Yes, I understand this is an eau de cologne, and they have their time and place. This could be a good gym fragrance, for instance, but it’s just too expensive for the performance level.

The black lime/ aged lime thing is genuinely a great note, but in this composition is overpowered by an intense astringent, almost acrid ambroxan. I don't mind ambroxan but it fights the lime here and unfortunately, to my nose, the lime loses every time.

This is my second review of this after finishing a bottle. It's rare when I finish a bottle of something because I have so many fragrances so that already says something.....kinda. I still love the fragrance. The dried lime with tea and smoke. I love it . It smells unique mature and mysterious and super fresh. The name is very fitting. Obviously you must like sharp citrus fragrances . The dry down does mellow out it you can still easily tell it's a smokey lime fragrance . So..... performance. It's an Eau de Cologne so you can't expect it to be a projection monster or anything remotely close to that . BUT the first hour with moderate sprays (5) it projects quite a bit for like 45 minutes then fades. At 2 hours it's already sitting pretty close . It's going to be a close skin scent until it's just about gone at 4 hours . So with that said what do you do? You over spray the heck out of it . For this quality and unique scent at $50ish dollars that's a good price that I don't mind spraying it a lot. When I have needed this to last 5 to 6 hours I'm spraying my shirt 5 times and my skin 6 or 7. After the first hour you have a nice little scent bubble that isn't attacking anyone's nose but can be smelled occasionally. While a stronger version of this would be nice I don't think the same scent can be achieved with a stronger version. On pure smell it's right where it needs to be with its concentration . Super versatile, can be worn whenever . I really like this and I'm hoping the 6.7oz eventually hits discounters. 8.5/10

As others have mentioned, black lime is whole, dried smoked lime, a culinary delicacy in the Middle East: it goes by loomi, noomi, and limoo amani depending on the country. The concept of lime here is that unmistakable black lime, captured most clearly in the deep drydown: you get a faint memory of the tartness floating over a bed of dry black tea leaves and deep smoked woody notes, kinda sweet-adjacent. Easy love! <3 And to those who complain about longevity: this is an Eau de Cologne, meant by function for a quick refreshment and then you can move on to an EdP or Extrait, to last and project.

Smells awesome and fresh! But does not last long at all

I usually wear this before and after gym and it has a pretty ok longevity and moderate sillage and honestly it does the job for me.

Interesting fragrance, starts off very bright with citruses, but to my nose I think the opening is lime dominant. It then dries down into a tygar/vibrato type profile with a slight smoky touch. It's actually very nice, and I am happy with the blind buy purchase. Need more wears to figure out performance, but judging by first impressions this one seems to have some staying power for a EDC.

This one was a disappointment. It smells like a simple bathroom cleaner. I wore it for a day and felt nothing. Maybe I need to try it again on a hot summer day, but I don’t think I will fall in love with it.

How on earth is ambroxan not listed in the notes above? Steer clear of this one if you're opposed to its use, as it's rendered very heavy here. An hour of a nice enough, but not very "natural" smelling, smoky citrus tea-type scent, then it moves into the drydown very quickly, which is essentially just an ambroxan and amber party. I sound like I hate this. I don't. However, I actually prefer the shower gel of this over the actual spray perfume; the overall scent profile works much better as a shower gel, imo. Edit: Just picked up another bottle of the shower gel after not owning it for a couple of years. Yeah, this smells so much more natural (the citrus notes are A LOT more photo-realistic) and, overall, is a better scent than the actual perfume. The shower gel has this added "fresh linen/soapy" kind of accord, which is completely absent from the actual perfume. You feel like Bruce Wayne using this stuff in the shower. One of the few times I genuinely think the shower gel of a fragrance is superior to the actual spray fragrance. Shower Gel: 8/10 EDC Spray: 7/10

Eau de Citron Noir The name seems to suggest a fruit bowl in disrepute, ...or maybe an ag inspector's legitimate cause for concern. But no, dried, smoked lemons and limes (noomi basra) are a genuine culinary concept, ...and an excellent inspiration for this intriguing citrus cologne, simple yet complex. Rounded notes of tea supply the perfect bridge and counterpoint. Now the smoke of Eau de Citron Noir suggests both noomi basra and lapsang souchong. One might even wonder if Aventus partly inspired this vaguely similar, but much more minimalist, tangy, smoky cologne. In any case, Eau de Citron Noir is now its own pleasantly distinctive fragrance, and fairly persistent for being so light.

- On me this one is long lasting - To me this is very masculine, and I think it has Bleu De Chanel or Dior Sauvage vibe, but much more sophisticated. - i think this is the best from the Hermes Cologne line (together with Concentrate Orange)

it is light yet solid with a beautiful tea note shining some time after the top citrus notes fade away. lemon tea scent is cozy but not too heavy, so it makes both a good daytime and evening fragrance.

Somewhere in the 1990s, an uncle visiting from the US gave me my very first perfume. He handed me a small green bottle, and gave a blue one to my friend. We were just children, clueless about fragrances. But the bottles looked so magical that we were thrilled. One day we decided to sniff them. Instantly both of us fell head over heels in love with the scents. I still remember the day my friend was leaving: before he left, we swapped bottles to take a sniff so each of us could carry a piece of that scent with us, one last time. The fragrance made me unexpectedly emotional. It was pure magic. I locked my green bottle away, safe inside my cabin, afraid I might lose it. Years passed before I dared bring it out again, afraid it might have gone bad. But to my surprise, it smelled as beautiful as ever. The green one evoked memories of wandering through an orange orchard in springtime. And I couldn’t stop thinking of the blue bottle my friend had; I remembered its light, sunny aroma. All I knew back then was the perfume was “Hermès.” Years later, after I’d developed a real interest in fragrances, I decided to search for that elusive blue bottle. When I found it, I realized it was expensive and not easily available. Some days ago I saw it online and despite the price just went for it. Today I hold it in my hand, and its fragrance is still magical and beautiful. Eau de Citron Noir opens with a bright, fresh lemony smell complimented by a burnt sweet woody fragrance that lends it a very earthy base. As the perfume dries down the sweet woody notes some to life complimented by a lingering memory of the citrusy notes. It limited longevity (2-3 hours before it becomes a very pleasant skin scent) adds to its mystery and beauty.

Eau de Citron Noir has a nice Citron note in the opening, my favorite part of this scent experience. Alas, the Citron fades and then disappears in about 30 minutes. What remains to my perception is a musky tea scent that seemed bland and uninteresting. It reminded me of Green Tea Citron Freesia by Elizabeth Arden. The EdCN Citron opening is much better, but these two scents become similar later on.

Clean, sexy, and fresh. Perfect for close encounters and personal enjoyment. Wish it lasted longer. 8.5/10

cheap smell ambery scent. totally pass

Incoming sacrilege: I prefer this to Terre d'Hermes. The two are similarly citruisy, spicy, and performatively classy, but this pares back the "masculine board-room gravitas" of Terre into something smoother, darker, a little more organic. Citron Noir is ultimately less complex and lasting but sits more subtly on your skin. Chameleonlike ability to serve as a freshy after exercise, an office scent, or a night at the symphony scent. That comes at the expense of memorability and character.

Another Nagel + Hermes travesty, unfortunately. Odd not to see ambroxan listed in the notes, because that's the dominant element here. Yes, you'll find black tea and smoke at first if you look for them, along with the lemon and citron in a way that ends up feeling like someone did something ill-advised with the wiring of an old stove and then tried to cover it up with a lemon oil spray, but the amber soon takes over completely. The whole thing is a disjointed mess, with nothing either spritely or dark about it. I have no idea what they were trying to achieve with this one.

I didn't like the opening because of the smoke but, the drydown was even worse. Smells weird. It must be the ambroxan. To be fair, there aren't too many Hermes fragrances out there that I actually like

Smells like your grandfather who thought half a bottle of cologne was subtle and managed to fumigate the entire room—eye-watering levels. Or like that IT guy with “refined taste,” an army of freshly ironed shirts, and a face that screams smug superiority. It kicks off with a slap of bitter lemon and then—sadly—settles into something vaguely woody and floral. 10/10 would buy it again.

At last, I found a citrus perfume with an edge. No sugary grin—just a dry, cutting stare. Eau de Citron Noir doesn't try to charm me; it challenges me instead. And somehow, that's exactly what I love about it. This isn't your typical burst of sunny citrus. It's citrus that's wandered through the underworld, made peace with its bitterness, and come back all the more compelling for it. From the initial spray, I'm greeted by a vivid blast of tangy black lime, as though someone has grated fresh zest over smouldering embers. That opening touches something deep in me. It's sharp, astringent, and irresistibly mouthwatering. It's the kind of sourness that makes my jaw tingle and immediately makes me want another sniff. The lemon and citron have a beautiful sting to them—bracing rather than sweet—and I can't get enough. It evokes of the idea of biting into a preserved lemon dusted with fine black tea and just a hint of mystery. As it settles, the black tea and guaiac wood begin to emerge, adding a smoky depth that anchors all that vibrant acidity. The result is dry, thoughtful, and wonderfully restrained. To me, it has the olfactory equivalent of a dry wit, no sugar, no fluff, just elegance with a razor-sharp edge. I can't help comparing it to other citrus fragrances. If they're the cheerful brunch guests in pastel sweaters sipping mimosas, Eau de Citron Noir is the mysterious guest who quietly orders a black espresso with a slice of scorched lemon. It shouldn't work... and yet it works beautifully. If you love citrus but occasionally wish it had a little more bite, I think Eau de Citron Noir is absolutely worth experiencing.

Lemon and smoke, so elegant, uplifting and demure. I really don't get the Dior Sauvage comparison, they are so different. Longevity is a bit weak but it is an eau de cologne, there are eau de parfum around that last less than this. It is quite expensive for what it is (you can smell its quality though), hopefully you can get it cheaper online. I love having a decant with me during summer and spray it again and again on me. It is a love from me.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!!! I love citrus scents but they always come off ans either a cleaning product or car scent diffuser if they’re not niche. This one tho… I think it was the hint of black tea that really tied this together for me. Perfectly executed fresh scent with some sharpeness from the black tea and a smoky dry down. Very sexy take on citrus in my opinion. Would love to buy it if it wasn’t out of stock like all the damn time 💔

Initial opening smells like limoncello and then develop into a dark earthy lemon drydown

A photorealistic blend of lime, lemon, citron and black tea with a woody, slightly smoky aspect in the background! If you love citruses and tea in your perfumes, Eau de Citron Noir is a safe blind buy in my opinion, whether you are a man or a woman. Based on the way Eau de Citron Noir acts on me, I wouldn’t consider this scent a masculine one, I would say it’s 100% a unisex fragrance. Keep in mind that this is a cologne concentration, so the performance is on the light side, but smells so natural, realistic, soothing, relaxing and refreshing in the same time. It’s a very simple and classic scent, but it’s the type that works perfectly in high heat&high humidity environments. In preparation for my August trip to the South of Spain, I decided to test a lot of designer freshies, because the weather forecast shows very high temperatures and in such conditions, citruses and tea it’s all I can wear without feeling suffocated. The scent advertises a smoke note in composition, but at least on me, it’s very minimal, I don’t detect smoke in the air, just tea and citruses. I have some classics of this genre from Guerlain like Herba Fresca and Mandarin Basilic, but I want a new fragrance to have for this holiday, to make new scents memories with. For what I want, this was the best overall, thinking scent quality, performance and price. Obviously, I didn’t pay FRP in store, but decided to buy my bottle online for a bargain price. Hermes Eau de Citron Noir will be the one for me for this summer holiday!
