Terre d’Hermès Intense

Why would they make a gourmand TDH? Like seriously, aren’t there enough of these gross unisex sweet fragrances clogging up the men’s fragrance isles? What’s next a vanilla amber wood version? I’m sticking with the original and pure parfum, they are masterpieces.

this has Hermes quality and DNA all over it, almost as if TdH and Bel Ami had a child.. I just love what Christine Nagel has done with TdH DNA, Eau Intense Vetiver, Eau Givree and now this Intense version!

Terre d'Hermès Eau de Toilette is undoubtedly one of the best freshies ever made. The way it manages to perfect simplicity is largely unparalleled in the mainstream fragrance game, and I'd bet it will stay like that for more years to come. Terre d'Hermès Parfum also aspired high, and while it found its place in the lineup, it removed that grit that made the original special. Fast forward to 2025, Terre d'Hermès Eau de Parfum Intense arrives seeking for its spotlight share, and I think it deserves more than it gets. There is one important caveat to keep in mind, and that's that Terre d'Hermès EDP Intense is possibly the biggest departure from the original DNA in the line. That's not to say it doesn't fit in the family; it just occupies its own unique spot. You still get that dirty citrus opening, aided nicely with a proper sprinkle of spicy black pepper for a bit of "punch". However, the citrus aspect doesn't go into the zesty, effervescent side of things and instead turns sort of candied and sweet. Quite sweet, actually. And that's the liquorice doing its thing. Now, I'll be honest, I despise liquorice, more so taste-wise, but also smell-wise as it is usually just too sweet or too overpowering. But here, I think it's balanced well enough, and it actually adds an interesting nuance to the composition, with a fleeting mentholated facet too. Coffee on itself, there's not a lot, at least not that dark and bitter kind of coffee, but more so pleasantly warm, slightly nutty, but it also aids with the earthy accord of the scent, which again, is not the kind of heavy, damp, rough earthiness, but much more gentle and smoothened throughout, taming its potency. One key aspect that made the OG Terre d'Hermès EDT stand out was its minerallic "flintstone" note, which gave it that sort of wet stone component. Here instead, we get a "lava rock" note. Yeah, I couldn't wrap my mind around it at first either. Like, does lava rock even have a scent? Not in its cold state, apparently, but when hot or actively interacting with its environment, it seems it can smell metallic or sulfury. I definitely get no metallic-adjacent quality here, but I'd be lying if I said I don't get a particular grounding component that sits apart from the tame woody notes around it. It's kind of like stone, but somewhat more dusty, minerallic, and definitely warmer and gentler, unlike geosmin. Still, the "lava rock" is most certainly serving more purpose as a marketing strategy for attention. Terre d'Hermès EDP Intense managed fairly solid performance on my skin, reaching 12 hours in longevity without issue. Projection was fairly good also, but nothing worth phoning home about. Certainly stronger than most other members in the family, though; plenty of pushing power for the first 2 hours, sillage being generous without going overboard. After the 2 hour mark, it expectedly drew back and stopped projecting altogether by the time it got to 4 hours. The Terre d'Hermès lineup is made to be easy to wear and accessible for as many people as possible, and whether it likes it or not, Terre d'Hermès EDP Intense will have to obey that criteria. It certainly feels a little more distinct and not as daily material as the OG, yet it's not challenging by any means. It will be selective for sure; not everyone likes liquorice. But those that can stomach it will find Terre d'Hermès EDP Intense perfectly suitable for both everyday wear and "nicher" occasions, all-year round. One of the best things about Terre d'Hermès EDT is that it maintains a fairly attractive price tag, making it a near impossible task to dethrone it as the "do-it-all" fragrance. However, Terre d'Hermès EDP Intense is not here to do that. It's actually aiming for the other face of the coin: to offer a slightly more unique and different take on the DNA. Not something you wear every day, but something you'd wear every other day that you are not wearing Terre d'Hermès EDT. Something for when you want a sweeter and slightly heavier scent, yet without losing that classy and simple character. I think Terre d'Hermès EDP Intense manages to do just that, whilst still keeping the price reasonable. I do not love it in any special way, nor do I see myself reaching for it enough to justify the spending. Maybe for most Terre d'Hermès EDT loyal users it won't feel like a must-have either. But for those who'd prefer a different kind of earth without changing planets, it's worth looking into. I like this very much, in fact I like it far more than that! It's a love with this one, no doubt. The beautiful and recognisable Terre d'hermès note of that vetivery/woody essence of course but this time accompanied by stunning coffee, liquorice and lava notes with a very gentle touch of citrus. For a brand many consider designer or mainstream, this to me feels artisinal and crafted from the very first moment it touches skin. I find this scent hits the same spot that many men (and women) desire, often satisfied or quenched by the likes of a neat whisky, Cuban cigars or strong chocolate and the like. Hopefully you know that craving I'm talking about, the one at the back of your throat! What's known as an acquired taste perhaps! Obviously don't be drinking this stuff but once applied and worn, I found I got that very feeling once faded and again when trying to decide what to spray a day or two later! I imagine it's very much down to my individual tastes and preferences! It's distinctive for sure and this is a fragrance that definitely needs a test before committing to a full bottle, as you should with all perfumes really. It's not always that easy though is it! I think it's one of those aromas that if you like it you'll love it and if not you'll probably detest it, it seems to be divisive. For me I think it's refined and pushing the boundaries of generally available and affordable perfumery, but for that very reason it's a product that will only resonate with a certain type of person. Someone who enjoys strong stimulation through their senses whether Olfactory or otherwise! 😳 Performance is decent, I'm getting 6-8 hours with a noticeable sillage but the initial hour or two of projection is stronger than average. It falls back to around arms length for another 3-4 hours but detectable waves continue making themselves known for another few on top of that. I feel this is a male dominant scent but of course you like what you like regardless of gender. As said previously, if this is a fit for you then it'll really hit home I think! Probably for people past their early 20's and of a slightly more mature and timeless style but with an edginess. I've been wearing this in 25 degree plus temperatures no problem at all but im positive this will perform beautifully all year regardless of the conditions. Good value for something touching niche and excellent if discounted. Definitely a worthy buy for the right individual. Go and have a try, give it a moment or two. In fact, go and have a coffee or do a little shopping to see how it develops and and hopefully like myself it'll be an easy decision to add to your collection. Quite possibly one of the most creative and standout fragrances I've encountered from one of the big houses especially as its from a standard range and readily available on the high street. Distinctive and different but with a lovely charm and presence.

Wat een geweldige geur. Zoet, bitter, warm, uniek. Ik ben een Nederlander. Ik houd van dropsmaak en ook van koffie. Een heerlijke combinatie in deze geur.

Really intense and smells expensive. Opening was a bit too much for me but the dry down is enjoyable. Smells like bitter dark coffee beans and sweet licorice. It is also woody, spicy and citrusy a bit. Bergamot does an amazing job here, lifting this fragrance up from the pits of coffee and lava hell (tf is a lava note?!). Definitely a mature-masculine scent, not for the boys. When I smell this perfume, I envision an older guy wearing a coat on top of his suit, standing in front of a casino on a cold winter night. For sure it is not a bad scent, I just voted "ok" since it is not my style. Maybe one day, when I get older :)

The clock reads 11:14 PM. A cold rain is hitting the window, and I’m at my desk watching the market tickers roll across the monitor while a tumbler of cask-strength rye sweats onto the desk. Most might spray a fragrance to seek cheap validation in a lift. I just put two hits of Terre d’Hermès Intense to the chest to wear to bed, tracking the scent into the dark while the city sleeps outside. Immediately, the study fills with a dark, amber-tinted haze that takes me straight back to 1997. It was the early days of the Southbank Crown Casino complex...before smoking bans and corporate compliance sanitized the air. You’d step off the atrium escalators at 1:00 AM into a thick, intoxicating cloud that smelled of unearned capital, polished marble and mahogany, cigars from Fidel's in the basement, and high-octane nocturnal power. That is the exact texture of this 2025 formulation. When Jean-Claude Ellena created the original Terre d’Hermès in 2006, he built it around cold flint, dry cedar, and bitter grapefruit. For this 2025 Intense release, Hermès perfumer Christine Nagel flipped the concept on its head. Instead of Ellena’s wet-stone feel, she pushed the formula toward subterranean heat, going as far as listing an official note of "lava stone". "Lava"? On paper, it sounds like typical luxury marketing prose. Who has ever taken a deep breath over an active volcanic fissure and complimented the aroma? Realistically, you smell sulfur and singed eyebrows. Yet behind the marketing copy lies a smart piece of perfumery. Nagel replaced the original cold mineral accords with a warm, dense structure of roasted coffee beans, liquorice root, and black pepper underneath the citrus. The opening hits with a sharp flash of bergamot that settles within seconds, making way for a dark, blood-orange and spice profile. That’s what the "lava" accord actually is: a heavy, radiant wave of heat. As the room cools down, the fragrance settles into its true dry-down: scorched cedar, dark orange, roasted coffee, and a quiet, resinous sweetness. It’s an immovable foundation. I’ve taken to using two spritzes as a base layer under volatile citrus freshies; pinning the top notes of Guerlain's Orange Soleia or D&G Pour Homme to the floor. When I want more impact, I’ll layer it 1:2 with Dior Homme Intense, or a 2:1 ratio under Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather. Two hits under a business shirt easily lasts through to the end of the workday. But its best use remains a quiet midnight against the Melbourne rain, carrying the texture of 1990s high-roller capital while the screen glows in the dark. (Tdh Intense, EdT, Pure Parfum all ticks for me. Did not enjoy Givree & Intense Vetiver.)

The licorice note in this is so vile that this is an immediate scrubber for me. Even sniffing the bottle makes me snap my head back and do a stank face. It's unfortunate because I'm attracted to coffee scents like a moth to a flame, but this one has other things going on that simply do not agree with my olfactory system.

Not a fan of this one it is really harsh i'm going to give this a second chance come winter. This is NOT a safe blind buy don't make the same mistake I did.I do love Terre d’Hermès just noy a fan of this one,but who knows it might grow on me.

What is this abomination? The strength of my feeling is tied up in it being a flanker to the regular Terre d'Hermes... it would be bad either way, or at least just not my style, but this isn't anything like its namesake at all. None of the original notes are preserved. In their place are things that are somewhat similar, but not nearly as appealing. In addition, new notes are added that do not belong, do not work, detract from the fragrance sharply rather than add or explore a new dimension of the original... really disappointing. Smells like a fruity, somewhat dry-powdery, mix of cheap sunblock and mosquito spray. A crime against the original.

There is nothing even slightly gourmand about the coffee note in Terre d’Hermès Intense, Those bitterly black and cold-brewed beans are just one more element of inedible coldly spiced wood; Plus a touch of cold metallic stone for good measure. The spices, particularly the also non-gourmand anise (licorice), add both distinction and appeal. I enjoy sampling these almost harshly dry wood-centric scents, ...and this one could, theoretically, even be a wearable choice. Probably best if one already in a dourly introspective mood, ...but if not, this scent could create the mood. The scent is quite suggestive of cold grey weather, ...so it might even be more enjoyable now, in summer. Endlessly sunny July, can make one (me) a tad nostalgic for the overcast days of winter

The coffee notes are definitely apparent. Sweet, balsamic-y. I accidentley washed the test vile in the wash machine. No big loss. These syrupy-sweet almost acidic balsams, even with a unique coffee accord I can actually do without. Give me wind and sea or at least spicey. My sweat smells this way were I to eat too many pancakes with maple syrup, and black coffee at a local diner. All of my clothes and sheets smelled this way for about a month.

I can really appreciate this fragrance as it's different than the previous TDH but still retaining some of it's profile. The coffee/citrus mix is something similar to devotion EDP but they don't smell similar. This is the winter/fall version of TDH with a slight smoky touch. Overall solid fragrance.

Opens up with a really harsh spice accord that lingers around. Unpleasant scent that lacks the appeal of the terre dhermes line.

What a waste. TdH built on Baccarat540 base. Do not like, do not recommend for those liking the og. I mean, sure id you like MFK. Yuck.

Definitely unique and I can appreciate it. Definitely a winter fragrance done differently, I can’t imagine wearing this in any other season unless you’re in Hawaii hiking a volcano. It’s an earthy Smokey fragrance. But not your typical Smokey smell. It’s different.

One of the most unique smelling designer fragrances that I have put my nose on, closely reaching niche categories if I dare to say. This bottle opens bright with a slight sourness but addicting on top of the sweetnesss from licorice (the most prominent throughout the longevity) and strangely clean rock note (I cannot say lava rock since it may be a bit far-fetched to imagine that smell), with a faint scent of grinded coffee beans. After around 30 minutes on my skin, it dries down to a more woody note while maintaining the sweet alluring licorice scent. It is not the strongest projecting fragrance nor the longest lasting (approximately 6-7 hours on my skin), but it is a unique fragrance that is pretty likely to draw attention from others without being overbearing sweet nor loud. Signature-worthy perfume and a dumb reach for office or casual date nights. This deserves a spot in my top 5 fragrances of all time mainly for its well-executed uniqueness. Rating: 9.5/10, would appreciate a better longevity.

Hermès has finally released a gourmand fragrance from its men’s range. This is my absolute favourite from the men’s line. It has a woody, syrupy sweetness. I can’t detect any notes of lava or stone. 8/10

I purchased this fragrance for my husband, and I absolutely adore it. It is a very original scent, I love the coffee and licorice notes paired together. It is very original and sophisticated.

In the deep drydown it has an H24 quality...

Distinct dried apricot opening

One of the best fragrances to add to my collection this year. The pungent freshly brewed coffee opening is not necessarily the best, it actually hit you in the face and the first minute you wonder what on earth is that supposed to be? I really questioned my blind buy the first few minutes... but then it settles and the TDH DNA starts to come out and starts to play with the fading coffee note...it's brilliant play of chords in my opinion. It smells very expensive and classy and I was very lucky to pick up a 175ml bottle for £80. It's worth it. Apparently, it's not well received by the community I hear but it's great scent. The coffee also adds a new edge to it. I love it. Probably it is not as good the original Edt... Which I thought was too spicy and complex. This one is less smooth and I understand why the community will be divided. I'm happy with it actually.

While I don't think it's as bad as the general consensus, I do unfortunately think this is a swing and a miss for this line specifically. I don't really get "coffee," more so some kind of toffee like sweetness making up the bulk of this fragrance. So it's like they tried to capitalize on the gourmand trend without making it super obvious; which just doesn't fit Terre d’Hermès imo. And the whole gimmicky "lava & stone" notes, please, no one knows what that's supposed to smell like and it's not reflected in the fragrance--this is pure idiotic marketing. Maybe you could make a case for mineral notes, but if that's what they were going for, why not just say that? This one feels like it lacks identity, and was shoved into a recognizable line to capitalize on an industry trend with little to no thought on whether or not it actually made sense. I don't hate it, but I don't exactly want to wear it anymore either.

This fragrance is art 🎨 in the form of perfumery🤌🏾. Upon first snif I gravitated twords the unique opening that most people may not appreciate but to my nose this fragrance is absolutely captivating and highly addictive. The coffee ☕ accord in this fragrance smells like the inside of my tumbler when I've finished my morning coffee and the bergamot gives it a fresh lift while that licorice note gives it that unique sweetness that carries you into that classic TDH dry down along with that wet stone aroma. Yes I understand this fragrance and I also understand the intent of the perfumer!! 10/10 masterpiece that will be frantically saught after in the years to come I predict.

Just a warning for people thinking about blind buying Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense. Many people associate the Terre line with Jean-Claude Ellena, but the Intense edition was not created by the original perfumer. You can definitely smell the difference in style and composition. Not saying it’s bad — just don’t expect the same magic as the original Terre d’Hermès.

Unlike other TDH in line, this one takes time and effort to be understood. It is the most complex one in line but also the most daring, bringing you to the new horizons and heights. It is as interesting as the TDH Intense vetiver with lots of nuances. From someone who owns TDH, TDH parfum and the above one i mentioned,as well as this one, TDH EDP intense really took time to grow onto me. My wife hated it the second i sprayed it for the first time in the shop. But then the nose starts to acknowledge the TDH DNA... the drydown is where you get all the answers and fulfill the expectations. The opening is very loud, the nose easily gets overwhelmed, roasted coffee and really unique and complex licorice, woody and spicy notes time to time transform from warm to bitter scent. Projects very well and leaves noticeable trail outside, while filling the room or car completely. Retains the loudness and sillage for the next 6 hours before the OG-like citrusy drydown arrives. By that time it projects by around the arm length , so it lasts for another 3 hours on my skin till the end of the day, an impressive performance especially after they've watered down TDH edt. Then it turns to intimate skin scent which will be there even the next morning unless you wash it off. Not a safe blind buy. But definitely one of the moat unique fragrances i love to pull off during fall/winter/early spring. Performance 9.5/10 Sillage 9/10

First spray was genuinely shocking in a good way. I go through so many samples that lack wow factor or give a memorable impression but this was an immediate "WOAH, that is unique". The opening for me is an a incredibly deep root and coffee character with a bit of bright pepper, bitter citrus peel, and a sweet vanilla-esque note. If you enjoy rich italian amaros such Sfumato Rabarbaro, this is very much in that alley. The bright notes dont last long and quickly fade into the sweet-warm root and coffee smell. I'd say its a medium-low sweetness and reminds me a bit of root beer but with more warmth. The notes call out licorice root but its not exactly like absinthe or licorice candy, its more rounded off and approachable but certainly still in that medicinal/culinary root category. If I smelled this in a witch's hut, I wouldnt be surprised. After about two hours, the scent turns into a dry and slightly brighter version of its former self. No more sweetness, but a powdery woody/root with a bit of that classic dry citrus found in the original TDH. Much more approachable to a broader audience and nowhere near as loud as the first hour. This definitely is NOT a COFFEE scent, but that richness and depth of a roasted coffee is prevalent and compliments the other notes well (some reviews have mentioned green coffee notes but I dont smell any green-fresh notes like that at all). Overall the first hour of this scent will be VERY divisive and, I'd wager, disliked more often than not. But the drydown becomes much more similar to OG TDH with a bit more rootbeer depth to it. Its very nice

This is disgusting smells like celery. Revolting.

I would go as far as saying this Intense version might be my new go to when it comes to the Terre d'Hermes line, even though I would maybe not wear it during hot summer days. And btw, I honestly don't understand some of the backlash this flanker is facing.

The gentleman who sold the Intense to me was revolted by it. He begged me to try everything else but my nose kept coming back to it. It’s pure fire and passion in a bottle. The opening was punchy, unique, captivating and very addictive. The dry down became softer with a slightly smoky, leather nuance on my skin, which I really liked. Wearing this made me feel sophisticated and daring. I am so pleased to have it in my little collection.
