Every Storm a Serenade

On my skin, this has a very eucalyptus and spruce-heavy opening that reads like vapor rub unfortunately. But as it dries down, those woody notes start to appear and it settles into a nice, slightly earthy blue fragrance thanks to the calone. I kind of expected a little more for both scent and longevity, but I don't dislike it.

yeah this smells like a nice deodorant. it's the same variety of aquatic that reminds me of both Coastal Veil by Pineward and Big Sur Eucalyptus, in that it's clean scented and woody; but this is not salty. It has a sweetness from something that isn't present in the other two. Pleasant but not very remarkable. Would make a great body wash, as mentioned below. Edit: Lattafa Wajood ended up smelling the way I had hoped this would.

I tried this on a tester, and my husband tried it on his skin. I liked it in both applications. This one is definitely giving solid petrichor vibes. We both agree this smells like a rocky beach in the Pacific Northwest as a storm is rolling in. Very atmospheric.

Underneath, it’s really a moody maritime landscape: eucalyptus, spruce, heather, ambergris, and vetiver evoke a cold, windswept North Sea or Baltic coast. But every so often the calone pokes its head up and reminds you of a whole generation of blue fragrances and makes it feel genetic even though it really isn’t. 8/10

Omg this smells just like one of my best friends it makes me so happy to smell it. :,) very sharp, fresh, laundry detergent- esque, and a little salty. Kind of a typical ocean breeze cologne scent but done really well. Doesn’t really suit my vibe but I wish it did and I would love to smell this on anyone else.

I was looking to try different marine and petrichor-y scents and this one deffintely hits some of these notes. It's more on the sweet petrichor side rather than the damp soil and concrete side. And it very much gives the vibe of a cologne once it dries on your skin but an atypical one for sure. It's not really as dark and heavy as you might expect it to be.

Searching for a fragrance for my love, I really like this but to me there’s nothing special about it, it smells like a classic men’s fragrance. I think if I were to wear this I’d need to layer it with something earthy or musky to bring it down a smidge, but I’ll see how his skin chemistry works with it.

Ocean meets a tropical forests edge

Heady eucalyptus. This is a perfume that would be performative on a man, especially if he likes to "sail" or rock climb. Not a big fan of the underlying sweetness that curls coyingly around every note, even when one tries to untangle the sea water or spruce notes.

This is not what I thought it would be. There's a weirdly sweet tone. When I think of Eucalyptus smell I think of clean Aesop products. This is nothing like that.

It’s a nice men’s cologne. cold and fresh. Lasts on clothes forever!

One of my absolute favorites, especially the older formulation. It’s gotten a bit more modern and basic unfortunately though it’s still fun and interesting. It has an Interesting green, oceanic, and eucalyptus opening with a slightly peppery edge and a good heft actual sea smells, low tide minerality, etc. It’s a bit aquatic with sappy and spicy green eucalyptus fringes, nice and interesting. The older pre-reformulation version is stunning out of the bottle. Deeply oceanic ambergris and the eucalyptus in incredible. Peppery, resinous, spicy, rich, and yet utterly refreshing. An absolute love.

It is airy aquatic with a bit of citrus or woody. It is actually a really safe fragrance I was expecting something dark and heavy but it is really light and lovely. Smells like the Mediterranean after a mild storm that brought all the scents together.

I really like the scent but I think it gets into slightly unwearable territory in the vein of pinewood but with more going on than just the woody notes. I think this would make a great body wash scent that I would really enjoy the aromatics of while taking a hot shower in a very cold log cabin up north. Makes me think of Maine or coastal NH.

I like this one, it's interesting and marine (duh). The sillage is INTIMATE. I'm glad it doesn't smell like men's aftershave or any of that. Even though it's aquatic, i wouldn't go as far to say it's masculine. It reminds me of the beach, minus the sweaty people, the JBL speakers, and the corn vendors. So maybe a virgin beach. It is nostalgic to me but a bit disappointing when it comes to sillage and longevity. Also the complexity from the beginning doesn't last and it dries down to that faint beach smell i mentioned.

You can pick out all the listed notes, which is something Imaginary Authors is extremely good at producing and makes their sample sets so much fun to try. Very nice woody marine scent, too masculine for me, but a nice reach for those who want a masculine-leaning seashore fragrance.

This is not a pleasant scent. I like it all the same. It is digging your hands in the rock piles by the lake. You look up and the mountains reach the sky and something further. You don't dip your feet in the water because it's freezing and it's May. You can barely see the state of Washington across the lake. You've never seen a lake so dark before, it's like the sun doesn't even reflect on to it. You sat in a car for thirteen hours, they promised you would get to see Vancouver... but this isn't Vancouver. It's not a place of tourism. It's a border town and it feels like the darkness might swallow you, drown you, take you down to the bottom of the lake. This perfume smells like Surrey, British Columbia. For better or for worse. It succeeds in encapsulating the REAL Pacific Northwest... It still lives inside of me.

I feel like there is a dark marine fragrance for me, so, I keep trying them. ESaS is something I like to smell, but it isn't something I want to smell like.

Really well done for this category. More long-lasting than L'Air du Bretagne and a bit more sophisticated.

When you were a kid, did you ever bang hard rocks together? Not like sandstone that just break or fall apart. Hard rocks like granite. The percussion doesn't break the rocks, it just crushes a tiny bit of the surface to this fresh rock powder. And there's a certain flinty smell to it. That's what's under the evergreen aromatics here. Wet and dry at the same time: The sea mist and the flinty dry-ozone stone spall. Unfortunately, calone just BLANKS fragrances for me, so, I can only smell any of Serenade at all immediately when spraying, or, when digging my nose into my skin. I can't rate this fragrance for projection, sillage or longevity because I can't f'n smell it through the cloaking-device effect of the calone.

Minty and aquatic, aquatic leans only a tiny bit artifical cologne and it does have a bit of salty briney-ness. To me this smells like brushing your teeth while you have your window open in your beachhouse airbnb. You're bf has applied his natural Deodorant in the next room and you can vaguely smell it. It is nice and light and the mint cuts through the artificial/ozone type of smell some that some of these aquatic/marine fragrances get absolutely destroyed by because they become sickening and headache inducing. This is quite polite and would be a lovely unusual freshie/clean smell for summer. It feels kind of 'cooling' and 'refreshing' so i could see this being a really nice pull in many people's collection if they want to he different but aren't willing to go full on like say Megamare by Orto Parisi by Olm by Zoologist 🤣 EDIT TO ADD: omg hahah I just read the reviews about the dental filling and I cannot unsmell it now. My bottom lip is actually getting hot and I feel like I can taste the blood and tooth cream stuff they put in your mouth. Oh wow that is actually crazy that my body is having a visceral memory reaction like this 😱😱😱🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭

since when did the pacific northwest smell like getting a dental filling? this smells like the immense shame i have when i have yet another cavity and i'm hearing the dentist despondently call out 'C6.' 'B7.' 'R2.' to the assistant before they hold me down and assault me with prongs. sad watery spruce and eucalyptus that barely even lasts on the test strip.

The concept of stormy seas and rain‑washed rocks sounded so poetic and irresistible. Unfortunately, for me the reality is a very different sensory experience. The opening hits like “Barbie leg in a bucket of pink detergent.” There’s a marine/ozonic element meant to evoke rain and sea air, but on my skin it screams "PLASTIC." This fragrance taught me that I'm super sensitive to calone, a synthetic aromachemical that dominates this fragrance. Sadly, as it dries down, things don’t redeem themselves. This one transforms into a generic men’s cologne. A total scrubber.

ok upon wearing this on my skin itself i like it a lot more than i thought. it opens up with just straight up SEA. but not fishy or kelpy sea. like sea air or when you accidentally get a gulp of ocean water while swimming. it’s definitely pulling some nostalgia for me having grown up near the pacific ocean. as i’m smelling it more, i definitely get the eucalyptus. it’s not bad per se but it’s a little much. it’s like i took a spa and put it into my olfactory system. it’s almost a little minty or medicinal? reminiscent of vicks vaporub.. but not in a bad way. just in that “ough i have an herbal remedy on my skin” kind of way. the ocean smell seems to fade pretty quickly and dries down into an herbal eucalyptusy sprucy concoction. again, nostalgic to me. it smells like a lighthouse i grew up visiting in the PNW.. that being said i think this is more of a summer fragrance! it’s almost a “by-the-pool” scent

This smells like someone buried a bar of dark chocolate in the dirt and then it rained. It also smells cold. Absolute pass for me, and if a guy showed up wearing this I'd make him go home and take a shower. I think it's the vetiver and spruce that's so repulsive for me. It just smells dirty. It's definitely masculine, and it projects... not great when you can't stand the smell and went in for the writs squirt. I don't get this.

I was really excited thinking this might be a nice alternative to Encore Noire. I was hoping for a nice lighter fall vetiver fragrance. And most definitely this is a very nice light vetiver, but the aquatic notes make it completely useless for fall. This thing goes to my skin and just dies after a few minutes. Smells great and unlike EN sport, the calone doesn't make me nauseous. I'll just have to wait till the warm weather to see how it performs then because right now it's a complete waste of time and money that I am very much regretting spending money on.

I wanted to love this so much. Unfortunately, it didn't hit the mark for me. Aggressive smell of kelp on opening, very zingy and not pleasant at all. Once it sat for a bit, it was a lot more mellow, but smelled wayyyyy too smoky for me. Almost smelled like a forest fire on my skin. Hard pass, which makes me sad as I absolutely love marine and salty fragrances.
