French Riviera is a very pleasant, versatile and truly unisex fragrance. Perfect for spring and summer, and I can see it working equally well for younger and more mature fragrance lovers. It has a fresh, salty, marine and aquatic feel, with a touch of sunscreen, but there’s definitely more depth to it than that. Light, easy to wear and very easy to like. Performance is quite good. It’s not beast mode, but it has good projection and longevity without being overwhelming. I personally enjoy it a lot and wear it both to work and on weekends. Mancera usually offers great value for the price, and French Riviera is another good example of that.
An interesting very aquatic fresh fragrance with good longevity for what it is. On my skin, it definitely smells like sunscreen on the beach. Im really not sure if I like it tho. It's missing just a little bit of sweetness and fruitiness for a summer scent in my opinion. You can get it for less than 100€/100ml at discounters, and because of that I can say it's a great scent for you if you really like aquatic notes. It's salty, fresh, slightly citrusy but again, for me it has that sun screen smell that I don't like that much. I very much recommend testing it before purchasing, don't get fooled by social media calling it "the perfect summer scent for everybody".
Perfectly unisex and accommodating for all ages as it's bright and sunny with citruses and florals. The tiare flower note is very recognizable on my skin which gives it a slight feminine vibe but not over the top. Lets cut to the chase, it's a long lasting Summertime bomb that is on the cheaper side that you and the wife or GF can share wearing. If that makes sense to you then it's a no brainer to at least sample it.
Mancera gives a lot compliment when i wear it, that creamy floral summer vibes turn heads
Bought this one blind because I found it at a great price. Honestly, it was more than disappointing. With all the hype surrounding it, I expected so much more. The composition feels extremely generic and the fragrance is very linear. From the opening, it's dominated by a synthetic marine air-freshener vibe, with some citrus in the background and a touch of musk. I can even compare it to a cheap sunscreen, the kind that has a watery coconut scent in the base. Strangely, all of the notes seem to lean toward that synthetic watery coconut accord. It reminds me the most of Mancera Holidays (although Holidays is ticker and slightly sweeter), blended with Tom Ford Eau de Soleil Blanc. Imagine a perfect mix of Holidays and Soleil Blanc, overloaded with synthetic aquatic notes and unnecessary citrus. Among the many Mancera fragrances, this one is completely forgettable. Performance is also disappointing. Longevity and projection are very poor/I can barely detect it on myself an hour after applying. Overall, it's just a synthetic summer freshie for everyday wear. Nothing luxurious, nothing unique, and certainly nothing extravagant. Insta: @be.gentile
imagine sitting on a yacht in the middle of the sea, drinking iced cold sparkling water with lemon! smelling this gives the same vibe refreshing, salty aquatic with citrus notes but FEMININE/unisex.
This is my definite fragrance when I go to the beach.
Summer spf scent. Drydown is more for man
I was gifted this masterpiece from my amazing girlfriend and oh boy this is the perfect fragrance. I feel like a lot of fragrances can be cloying unlike tropical fragrances imo, but this is just perfect, soft while being masculine. It is super veritable for the summer. And lasts me the entire shift. It is fresh clean and blind by safe but if you’re not a fan of the sunscreen smell then it’s not recommended, but I love this smell. First niche fragrance and imo the safest start for getting into niche.
It is so pleasanttt. I bling bought French Riveira, reading through the notes after I needed a scent with higher quality. Let me say, it was worth it. You get that very pleasant, fresh, aquatic and summery scent, making this a very good option for the summer. My gf loves it, as it radiates strongly, catching many noses as it stays very strong as she recalled later on. Its not that projecting, of course since its a summer scent and yet it still projects enough for people to notice. I get the wiff of it not being on my skin for too long, yet my surroundings tell me otherwise so yeah, it does very good. I got it for 85€, for the 120ml sooo im very happy with it. I would re-buy if it went empty. I love it 8.9/10
One of the best “summer” openings i’ve ever smelled. However, on the dry down I’m not the biggest fan. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments when wearing this, my gf was a big fan as well. I liked it the first time so much I ordered a second sample just to make sure. The very last time I wore it gave me answer for the age-old question of full bottle worthy. For me it’s a no. In the 96 degree heat it is not the same beauty I experienced when I wore it inside or in 70 degrees. It turned very floral and oddly for salty than I could take. This still holds a place in my heart, however I believe something lighter is better suited for the high heat. Make sure you sample.
This is a really fresh clean citrus bomb, with a bit bitter-zesty opening. I don't know why some comparing it to a sunscreen, I never saw a sunscreen smell this fresh, I got the impression someone said it once and everyone's repeating it. I can clearly feel those marine notes, but I wish ginger and mimosa were more pronounced. Overall, a good everyday summer fragrance, even for those working in the office. Extra point for the golden pouch, very useful to carry the fragrance in your bag without being afraid to damage it.
Very fresh, but not really at all what I was expecting or hoping for. The marine/aquatic notes are definitely front-and-center, but it is also very ozonic, and in a harsh unpleasant way close to the skin. It is also much more Floral than citrus, to the point that I actually can't even smell the citrus... really dominated by the flowers, which is the exact opposite of what I would hope for. Honestly, if it wasn't for the sharp ozonic note, I think you would have a difficult time arguing this is a masculine fragrance at all.... I'd really high hopes for this one, but it is sadly not a winner. The absence of the Citrus is so glaring, especially given other reviews, I wonder if I got a bad sample...I would retry this of given the chance.
I loved this fragrance, summer vibes.
Mancera French Riviera is a quiet luxury that feels like sunscreen. It's too delicate. It has an expensive cologne feel to it. The citrus notes are too soft, which fell short of my expectations. I was expecting sharper citrus notes. The sea salt notes are completely false. It's a perfume that can be used on the beach. It can also be used in the office without bothering anyone. But it definitely wasn't what I expected. If you're expecting an aggressive and heavily citrusy perfume, you'll be disappointed. You need to get a sample and try it. By the way, I think it's closer to the feminine side.
Another Mancera decant. This stuff is super clean and airy on my skin. Bright, refined sunscreen and floral notes throughout. Something about it makes me feel refreshed throughout a 95F day and it has staying power. 8.25/10
Pretty. Soft. Breezy. Aquatic and citrus. Starts as cleaner but luckily that goes away quickly. Update- dry down about 40 minutes later starts to smell like sweat or something on me. Dislike.
Unique nice sunscreeny type of scent, very nice for summer, citrusy floral, I like it.... Rating: 9.5/10
Exceptional orangey, salty aquatic, refreshing, smooth and creamy essence creating pure wearing pleasure. Projects relaxing easy-going vibes and a sunny oceanic beach ambience. Great outdoors, casual occasions and for chilling anytime, anywhere, year round. Has fantastic sillage, projection and longevity. This is a great well balanced and composed fragrance with a distinct enjoyment factor. Happy to have it.
The only thing masculine smelling to me is the pine if I focus on the pine. Otherwise, it smells like sitting on a sunny beach with light sunscreen on, drinking a moscow mule after applying a revlon super lustrous lipstick. Oddly specific yes, but it smells like a genuine memory to me. A happy one. I have a soft spot for this fragrance. It made me cry a little.
I used to love this scent, but now I trained my nose too much with high quality scents and now this one smells slightly synthetic to me. Still a beautiful one to try if you like sweet, bright citrus, airy-creamy white florals, freshness with elegance.
According to the reviews left, this fragrance apparently smells like cool water for her, Aqua Di Gio Profondo, Aqva Marine and Oud Minerale, I’ve smelled all of those fragrances and own Oud Minerale, Profondo…. All of them smell nothing alike. This is the worst series of reviews I have seen on a fragrance. Absolutely useless information. Someone coming here to get insight leaves someone more confused than before. Just because you can write a review doesn’t mean you should. Tested on skin in store, smells like fresh lemon opening settling into ylang ylang with a touch of sunscreen. Not overly or off putting, I find it quite nice despite not liking sunscreen fragrances. I would wear it however it’s very smooth. I find it to be a touch feminine.
This fragrance i have been wanting for quite a while it is summer in a bottle hits all different notes that you could want. so happy to have it can’t wait to see projection of it
i love it super great! its an amazing summer citrus scent
Smells amazing, I really like it, nothing else to say, Can’t wait to cop this one for the summer.
Starts out as 1970's Ambre Solaire sun tan lotion, which will have some people buying it on the spot for its happy associations. Others might remember the sunburn, mixed with sand and weird shivery feeling (since Ambre Solaire was more about basting yourself like a roasting chicken than gaining a gradual tan). The next stage is more woody, also evening out-y. And by the time half an hour has passed I'm getting strong 'Oscar' vibes, as in Oscar by Oscar de la Renta, but salty. For those young enough to not have a clue what these vintage smells are like - it's a rich white floral/salty/woody vibe. To me the florals are more tuberose than tiare, but it's that white floral tropical miasma, sharpened up with sea salt and citrus. If they added coconut it would lose its edge. I'd say pure summer, but this isn't pure, it's hedonistic, or at least pleasure-seeking. I see that @enreichol (below) mentions it's like urinal cake. Well, there's one very iconic perfume which has that scent - Kouros by YSL, So we're talking vintage vibes here. Not vintage for me as I'm in my 50s, but yes, it's conjuring up another time - clubbing, holidays on Greek islands. I'm not a big fan of salty/aquatic/sea notes, or tuberose, but this is great quality and the dry down is easier on the nose than you'd imagine, especially nowadays when everything is stuffed full of harsh ambreine and synthetic woody ambers. Like.
Initial top notes give a touch of citrus that made me hopeful for the fragrance. Unfortunately, this fragrance dried down is incredibly reminiscent of a bathroom urinal cake that was recently used to me. One of the few from the Mancera Line that I actually washed off to stop smelling. Projection and longevity are likely average for the Mancera line. 3/5
If you like masculine floral fragrances, you should definitely try this one. When you smell it and close your eyes, it can take you straight to the beach or remind you of the perfect summer day. It’s one of the best fresh fragrances in my little collection. That said, it’s not a safe blind buy at all it’s the kind of scent that can go either way you’ll either love it or hate it. Overall rating: 8.25/10
Just not for me, smells like the Raid bug repellent with a note of Lemon. Initial spray was good honestly, as it dried down though it really started to smell like that, which really ruined the fragrance for me... Thank god a friend bought it for himself and let me test it before I bought a sample, would've been honestly disappointed.
A citrus mandarin sunscreen + marine salty base I like the second part not the first though, if both sound great to you im sure youll love it
