Athalia

This is what I'd imagine a sexy witch would wear as her signature scent. 'Athalia' has depth, it opens with bitter citrus and slowly blends into a powdery iris with a touch of vanilla. She also lasts with decent projection. Overall it's a very elegant scent to wear in the colder months and nights out when you want to stand out!

I definitely agree about the rich expensive lotion smell. Something in this reminds me of Bvlgari's Jasmin Noir. The frankincense and powder evoke sweet woodiness. Witchy in a good way, more of a floriental than a floral woody musk to me. Would be wonderful in cold weather.

Athalia, by Parfums de Marly, smells like frankincense, bitter orange, vanilla and powder. The general vibe and scent it expresses to me is the scent of warm oranges.

Very mature and dated smelling to me, not much sweetness in it at all it's very iris heavy and honestly smells very masculine, my boyfriend likes it on him but not on me, gonna sell my boottle on Ebay

This fragrance smells like a luxurious body cream. My son said it smells like a mature woman, or a woman that takes care of herself. I was side eyeing him a bit, but I get it. A woman that pampers herself with the best luxurious products. Creamy, sweet, and powdery in a fantastic way. If you enjoy fragrances like Velvet Tonka I think you'll enjoy Athalia.

There are layers to the beauty in this one. It reminds me of my grandmother and her skin smell. Not in a negative dated way. In a very special way; safe feelings of being a child, where she would emerge smelling good from her daily getting ready routine. Iris must have been a note in her creams and powders. I’ve found I want to smell like that sometimes. This is the iris forward scent I’ve chosen. This perfume goes with rainy day weather to me. The color it evokes is misty grey purple. We have a lot of sunny day perfumes, but not enough to match the cloudy or rainy days. If anything it would surely make the dreary weather something to celebrate as well.

This perfume is so gorgeous. It's powdery and sweet and a little grandma-esque in a good way. It smells mysterious and expensive. It's almost a little masculine to me? The musk and vanilla on the dry down is so warm and cozy. I would totally have this in my rotation if it wasn't so pricey.

Went in expecting something closer to Delina territory - same house, same elegant femininity - but Athalia is a completely different direction and took me by surprise. The opening is pretty. Soft powdery iris with a gentle sweetness and just enough orange blossom brightness to keep it from feeling stiff or old-fashioned. Nothing sharp, nothing that made me pull a face. Just quietly refined and easy to wear. The issue is it stays exactly there for the rest of the day. The amber does eventually show up and pulls it closer to skin, but it never really transforms anything. Iris leads from start to finish, and by the drydown you're wearing a very soft, very intimate version of the opening. Linear in a way that starts to feel less like intentional minimalism and more like it simply had nowhere else to go. It wears close to skin by the afternoon - there's something nice about that, a fragrance that stays private. But the powder kept a distance throughout, and I never fully warmed to it the way I wanted to. Pleasant all day, never annoying, just never grabbed me either. If iris and powder are your thing this is a genuinely lovely version of that. I need more warmth in the base to really connect with something, and Athalia never quite got there.

The iris makes the scent of powders and makeup very present, it is by all mean a clean skin scent, it's nice like everything from PDM, and just like everything from PDM, it does not transport me anywhere, it is the most used out of all my samples tho.

I love how she just sits in the PDM lineup quietly devouring every single one of her trendy sisters. Athalia is absolutely stunning.

I tested this fragrance today and I have two words for it: mystical iris. It's elegantly mysterious, ethereal. Beautiful!

I love this one. If I had to keep only one PDM, this one or Oriana would be it. I love Infusion d’Iris and this smells a lot like it, but less flighty and more grounded. More mature. It has more depth and bitter. If Infusion is play, Athalia is work. Like all PDM perfumes, it lasts for ever until you wash your clothes or take a shower. I love this brand but as always I think their price is outrageous and somehow it increases by the minute. At least the bottle is pretty.

The note looked perfect, but there is an odd burnt rubber smell that I find terribly off-putting. A blind buy and quick flip.

It’s a no for me. I have a bottle for sale if interested.

Finally testing this out today, and I'm enjoying so far. Although I have to say I can't understand the love for Parfums de Marly as I haven't found one that I feel justifies the exorbitant price (approx USD$400 in my part of the world) for a 75ml bottle - even at half the price there are many other perfumes out there I would purchase before this. First impressions of Athalia: It's giving me 'I'm wearing my boyfriends' cologne vibes. Vice versa I think some men could pull this off as 'I'm wearing my girlfriends perfume'. I enjoy Iris in mens colognes, and I do like a hint of the masculine in my perfumes, but it womens perfumes I need it to be dominated by female sexuality. To my nose this a a very warm, feminine version, so I like what Athalia is doing with Iris. I also like that powdery note is well balanced with the musk and lavender which both have an 'emanating from my skin' sweet warmth. An intriguing fragrance that has my attention, just not my money. I'll keep it on my Test list and see if with repeated tries it moves into the 'worth the money category.

This is a no for me. Sampled it gives me a headache straight away. To my taste I feel like this would suit someone more mature.

Recently found the stash of PDM samples I had put away. Gave this to my girlfriend so she could try it and also so that I could get a sense of it on a woman's skin. I absolutely loved it. There's something very beautiful and seductive about the powdery, floral, woody mix. No this is not for you if you want something more in line with pop culture style fragrances, so no this is not mass appealing. It definitely has more from mature vibe, although to me this doesn't mean it's for some old lady born early in the last century who refuses to leave. It's just very fine and classy, which shouldn't have to mean older woman. To me it would just mean someone who probably dresses very well with a taste for very nice things. What did my girlfriend think? She wasn't sure about it. Seems to be in line with several of the reviews. Fortunately women don't buy fragrances to try to impress the opposite sex (that's what a lot of the boys do). But that is just my humble opinion as someone from the opposite sex. I have a thing for very nice fragrances and this one definitely grabs my attention. If you can sample it, you should. Enjoy and be happy, you wonderful beings!!!

Never in my life have I been so conflicted over a fragrance...truly run the gamut of love/hate/love again. On paper, the list of scent components is right up my alley; but the gulf between what you read it will smell like versus what it actually does smell like is so vast and complicated. The first thing I can say with any certainty is this perfume is a Delorean, transporting you back to the the time of thick glass bottles with golden-tasseled spray atomizers, of dark boudoirs, hazy with cigarette smoke. Your perfume mixes with the smell of your Coty face powder as you dab it on with a giant pouf by the glow of the tiny lightbulbs that ring your vanity mirror. This smells like 1920's socialite. Exactly what I'd imagine Daisy from The Great Gatsby wearing. I went back and forth between love and loathing for the first thirty minutes. What's strange is depending upon how much I sprayed, where, and if I "crushed" the scent notes (like rubbing the wrists together) all affected how it smelled. Upon first spray, you definitely get the frankincense. It's wonderful, but literally in real time as your brain is processing that frankincense, something else is right there on its tail, and it's very unpleasant. I can't put my finger on what it is. It almost smells of "new car" or motor oil. Like someone tried to recreate lavender but they didn't quite get it right. But the longer it sits on the skin, the more that secondary funk fades away, and the powdery element takes over. Somehow both strong and delicate. I really have no words for it. You'll either love it or hate it, but one thing's for sure: you've never smelled anything like it.

The opening of Athalia is some nicely cut powder. Cool and silky smooth, but also brightly floral from orange blossom. The kind of powder that sublimely avoids any suggestion of heaviness. ...but don't neglect the dry down That sublime iciness is melted away by the warmth of a fully bodied musk. I often just ignore musk notes, they are everywhere and forgettably so. ...but here, the musk masterfully maintains dominion over the amber and remaining powder, letting them only lightly sweeten the deal. An exceptional powder followed by an exceptional musk. If only more perfumes offered such a two'fer.

Elegant, vintage and a little too mature for my taste. But if you like musk, citric and iris scent all together, then it's for you 👀

At first I disliked it, it reminded me of Infasil's men musk deodorant with a hint of white floral. Now the more I'm smelling it the more I like it, actually it's addictive, I've never smelled a musky fragrance so feminine. It's very subtle, refined, a bit classy, it's quiet. That vanilla hit is just so good. I love it

Long lasting Infusion D’Iris. Serious, understated, and vintage.

A very, very elegant and refined feminine scent. Upon first sniff I had indeed fallen in love. Nothing about this scent is overly complicated, it just has been perfectly done. The soft powdery iris dances together beautifully with the orange blossom creating a very complementary profile overall. The musk hovers inbetween, not making itself overly noticeable, but not completely hidden either.

This is quite nice. Inoffensive and pleasant. Not too strong. All season compatible. The opening reminds me a bit of Safanad with a little more iris/powder and then is has this slightly animalic thing going on in the background for about the first hour. When the animalic thing dissipates, and it completely does, I get a powdery, soft, orange blossomy, clean floral. Dry down is VERY similar to BDK Rouge Smoking with more floral/iris. I am an iris junkie and Prada Infusion D'Iris was my very first dive into Iris. This is somewhat similar. Infusion D'Iris is all powder. This is much more floral IMO. For the price, not sure it is full bottle worthy especially since I already have Rouge Smoking, Infusion D'Iris and Safanad. But this would be a nice daily wearable, if you like the powdery vibe. UPDATE: It completely grew on me. Bought the full bottle - found a deal on a tester - and I don't regret it :) So comforting and soft. Definitely similar to Rouge Smoking only much sweeter and floral, as I mentioned above.

Soapy and clean but doesn’t strike me much. Definitely not the best one in its category.

I have nothing good to say. You’ve left the car running in the garage….and decide to fill an empty, vaguely violet-smelling carpet refresher powder, with those fumes in an attempt to remember how feeling miserable, smells. Now love. Your. Life.

This is not a safe blind buy. I don’t dislike this fragrance but it does have a bit of an “old lady” vibe to it so I would never purchase this for myself. Maybe for my mother. My boyfriend did like this though, he said it smelled “clean”.
